For a new guy getting into the hobby, would you suggest the big rock or granite? I currently have an ECX torment ( its POS), which I'll be giving to my teenager. I am looking for an all-around fun truck for myself and an activity to do with my sons. But to be honest, I am more partial to the big rock primarily based on its looks...
Many have asked this question, and for me I would go with the big rock. It holds down speed very well because of the longer wheel base, it can bash, it looks better. However, the granite’s wheels are better than the stock big rocks. Both are very easy to work on and parts are inter changeable. It is a close race for sure and you cannot go wrong with either. @Moe RC wondering why people say the arrma big rock is such a good deal when it doesn't come with batteries and chargers at the end of the day I could get a traxxas hoss or something similar at almost the same price point as buying the big rock and the batteries/charger
@@tmar352 I own both, the Maxx I have is the V1. Reliability-wise I'd still go with the Big Rock over the Maxx (V1) I've replaced countless tires, caster blocks, and toe arms on the Maxx. They did come out with a new version of the Maxx that has the wide arms installed stock that would have a comparable stance as the Big Rock.
@@danielblyth991 the granite is going to be slightly faster and it is more agile and with quite good tires. The bigrock is a longer wheelbase so is more stable, not as acrobatic or agile as the granite, and you should get sone different tires. Also, with the bigrock, you are limited with bodies because it’s the mt width and sc length. All up to you though.
Tbh, you cannot go wrong with either. Same price, same electronics, same suspension, same diffs. The big is longer wheelbase and granite is shorter wheelbase. Personally I really enjoy them both but give the edge to the big rock. Appreciate you being here!
@@moerc Ah thanks Moe! On my granite I did the 12mm hex and then the hot racing 12-17mm hex but it's pricey. The 12mm hex were 10$ and the HR 12-17mm adapters are 30$ so 40$. I was looking for a cheaper option. I actually bought some duratrax bandito mt and Faze MT in 14mm for street and off road. They seem pretty nice!
Chris Watson don’t need the adapters, the stance is extended stock already, also have the vid on big rock v2 vs v3. Don’t need the adapters for v3. U should really check the vids, I walk through it.

Why do they "whistle" or "whine" like that when you're moving slow? Is that normal? I'm looking to buy my first RC and have narrowed it to these two.

It's called "cogging" You can get rid of it by putting 2 tooth smaller pinion on. Will lose some top speed and gain acceleration
