- This is the ARRMA Big Rock 3s v3!
I have heard so much about this truck and I wanted to see if it's still relevant in 2024 as a worthy 3s basher!
I have reviewed all of the ARRMA 3s BLX range apart from this one and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

These trucks are capable of 50mph+ with gearing upgrades and I think due to the big Rock 3s being wider and longer wheelbase it will handle that way better compared to the Vorteks and granite 3s BLX.
The 3s BLX Platform has been around for a while now and its proven to be one of the best and easiest platforms to work on making them an ideal intermediate option for a lot of people getting into the RC Car hobby.
There is serious competition in the 1/10 RC truck world with so many excellent options out there like the Team Associated Rival MT10 and ideal beginner truck the Maverick Quantum 2 flux so is the Big Rock worthy of being an excellent option as well?
Today we find out!
Let me know in the comments what you think and do you agree that this is still a really good option in 2024 as an all out RC Basher?
See you on the next one!

What an awesome truck the Big Rock 3s is and I see now why its so popular. It handles and feels a lot like the bigger brother 6s version but half the price! What is your favourite 3s BLX car?
My son has had a big rock for over 3 years and it has been really durable and versatile. I replaced one hub after a bearing seized, probably after getting wet. I’ve got the senton too, which is my favourite 3s blx!
Senton is totally bulletproof besides bearings here and there. I just hate how the body captures alllllllllllll of the tire roost... I have to pick mine up and flip it over and shake it out while driving it.. I am testing the vortex 3s and its doing much better at keeping debris out, but the bonus of the senton body is the extra protection.
Arrma is the shit. Had a 3s senton for 3 years and only had a few bearings go out.. I couldn't resist the arrmagedon sale and recently bought the vortex 3s for $280
Thats a great price!
😮 it’s around £380 in the uk that’s about $480 usd!
We are Arrma fanboys too. Big Rock 3s BLX was our first Arrma. We bought it after watching videos by Heavy Metal RC. It now has more miles and more crashes on it than any other RC we own. Even more than our Losi LMT. I hold it as the best basher in the price bracket. It has held together far better than our Rival MT10.
Big rock had it almost a year now really great truck fast enough and tough enough
Hi just got back from Rochester rc & have purchased an arrma big Rock 3s & have used your discount code for an even better price deal thank you & a great review keep up the good work Cheers.
I like the 3S BLX Infraction. It's an answer to the slower brushed version they offered before, and the truck itself had such an impact that you see people saying they are tired of the "Hoonitruck." The style never gets old for me, even though they are limited to on road and some smooth dirt surfaces. I still have yet to add one to the fleet 🙇♂Solid review, brother! 👍
Thanks bro! I do love my 3s infraction!
Those are nice to run… Vitavon steering crank and a good servo… boom! Super stable(for a truck)
I built a 4s outcast mix bigrock its a blast! running hobbywing max10 120amp esc and a hobbystar 3674 2650kv motor! def one of my favorite cars in the collection!
both arrma 3S line and the team associated rival mt10 are great great trucks. For me the choice is arrma but I have both and both are fun and durable after some upgrades.
I have the big rock which I converted to a short rock with granite parts and both are great. vendetta for on road is nice too though different.
I love my 3s, but i always advose people to go for a 4S model, for an extra £150 you will save yourself replacing the diff etc
Yup. Metal spur, diffs and cvds can't beat it
My bigrock is my profile pic, my fav rc, and well, its red 😂❤
It's definitely one of the best in its class. Hopefully Arrma will continue to support these for a long time 😊
I hope so too
good video but would love to see head to head with this and the new hyper go 1/10th MT
i think that new hyper go will dominate the 1/10 basher market if it is in fact 1/10 and not a mini 1/10, is super durable, great handling and fast out the box on 3s/4s. I just hope they price it right!
Same here 👍. Thanks for being on top of the game and filling us all in . I appreciate it .
It looks amazing buddy
Nice review mate this car looks great. I just got the notorious 6s on sale. Being my first lipo rc car I'm pretty excited. Safe to say I won't be visiting the skateparks. I take it off my small cardboard jumps and have plenty fun in my yard.
skateparks are overrated and overdone by some channels its not really my thing i prefer being a bit boring with mine haha! Not boring but you know what i mean like in this vid lol
seems they have changed the color.r. For me the Big Rock is so good it makes me question why spend more? Ours has been so reliable,, it is as you say a great all rounder. We use it a lot on 75% as my Son is 6 and its more manageable, on 3s you can wheelie all day long. We have a small fleet now, big Rock, Sketer, Omni Terminator, Rlaarlo adm12 and HBX 2996A. Most of our use is of course off road, in the park, woods or BMX track and we don't really want for anymore. I would like to try a buggy and I will probably try with a cheapie before investing in a 1/8th.. So, in short if you own a Big Rock it will end your upgrade bug for bigger and better,,,,, at least for a while. 😁
Nice video and RC car❤ plastic gears and transmition?. Greetings
You should try the 4 s tyrant from Buddy RC. You even get a free Genaces 4 cell lipo with the purchase of the vehicle. The tyrant is a buggy and they also have a monster truck call blitzkrieg. I have the tyrant though and I love it super, super tough!! And you get it all for $300 and some change. No more than the big rock or any of the other 3s line.
😍LIKE IT
The color looks a little different than I remember has a little brown tint to it. I wish they offered a red like the 6s. Otherwise I'm sure it still a great truck. I wonder if they will give it the centre diff treatment and change the gears to metal?
Fantastic Truck but right out of the box before it was ever turned on I took the shocks off and only one out of the four had any oil in it . Three were dry ! So that made me want to check the diffs and glad I did because there was zero grease in both ! So it pays to be anal about some things . LOL! Now it is a Fantastic Truck !!!
This, vortex, syncro 4 or something else? Looking for something to rip around some loose dirt/gravel/low cut grass and on road(about 50/50 on and off road. Not into jumps and stunts. What would you recommend? Is traction roll an issue with the big rock?
Nice review on the truck! Now here’s the thing about its price. With £10 more you could get the Rival MT8 @ £359 modelsport. So its up to you which truck would you get.
Haven't heard or seen the best reviews of the MT8. Maybe I will have to try one for myself but so many have said its not as durable as the baby brother mt10 :/
@@beyondRCnew one’s come with upgraded kaiju arms and turnbuckles. I have one and never had any issue aside from upgrading the servo.
Mate there’s no link for the truck in the description
It does sit at a good price point.
Not for us here in the UK all the US owned brands are getting too expensive
@@Luke-en2tk I was thinking the same. Also spares expensive. What brands do you tend to go for in the UK that also have abundant and reasonably priced spares? Apart from FTX of course.
@@JoinTheBlocks FTX, Maverick&BlackZon(HPI), Arrma 2wd brushed range and Corally
@@Luke-en2tk thanks that's good to know, I was considering a maverick quantum 2 and also the syncro from corally so good to know parts in the UK are easy to get hold of for those manufacturers !
I own the 6S Big Rock, however, i have noticed the 3S one has a cult following. I have been at my local Hobby shop and have witnessed people walk out of the store with this RC for their 2nd and yes even 3rd time. I've been tempted but the little RCs just dont hold my attention.
Only down fall is those crap diffs.
And the slipper and the shocks
The 3s Big Rock is a good truck, let down by very mediocre tyres. Probably the worst tyres in the Arrma range, it performs much better with Granite wheels fitted.
they arent the best and on road they sucked for grip! although it was damp as usual...
No the arrma nero big rock came out first but another brand that start with a T sue arrma and had to stop making it and arrma old parent company hobico went bankrupt thats why horizon got arrma but it more to the story lol. I had a arrma nero brand new. I remember had to call hobico for warranty 😂😂😂. I know the history
Is it durable yes and no the plastic diffs are shitty and to me they just need to make it apart of the 4s line the only way it would be worth buying 6s version is where it’s at might as well save and buy a solid truck in the 6s until then I refuse to buy any 3s arrma line ups over priced imo
I think this will happen as if they update their 3s lineup the only difference to their 4s lineup would be the fact it doesn't do 4s and would be pretty much the same money, I can't see them keeping the 3s lineup
@@Luke-en2tk the current 4s line up is top notch and solid if they bring like a typhoon 4s , big rock 4s I’d spend money on that they have exb diffs and just better and versatile I’m into 1/5 scale really hoping they add a big rock 8s or Mojave possibly typhoon
@@TMIVRC yep completely agree. I wish they would use a better material for all their balls that are in the rod ends those plastic bits wear so fast and virtually end up doing nothing so you end up with the world's most amount of slop through the whole car. I know there are aftermarket options but it shouldn't be needed. Assuming Proline do a 4s Bash Armor lineup as well which looks to take things to another level, not a fan of the metal chassis braces
