Massive fan of the proline badlands here , also the M2c motor mount and brace and the wheel extenders, really transform and of the 3s trucks into being more driveable and far tougher. I went with a castle mamba monster x and a 1512 motor for the powertrain, its really impressive.

I hounstly gotta say from owning a granite best first upgrade is rear diff to metal of rip.on pavement they chew out easily and upgrade the rear drive shafts to metal is a must front dosent take as much of a beating never had issues with a stock one and caster blocks to alloy they brake off on the bottom alot not a big issue still runs but with a bent wheel lol other then that other upgrades you mention are good
Thanx! Everybody s experiences are different but i just put a metal diff in a month ago. It failed very seldom! Which metal driveshafts dud you go with?
@@phillybrc I went with gpm axles for it everyone says there cheap but for a.3s truck there more then strong enough never broke one yet anyway and are half the price of the arrma upgrade axles
I got the badlands for the wrong car, I got it for the Typhon 6s, they were great on 4s, they were great on 6s, but they kept ripping off the wheels and the foam hates me, every single tire I run on that thing it just tears the foam up and now I have brand new tires and half of it has no foam and the other half has all the foam, what you recommend? It has a 2250 castle motor and an 8s ESC from a stock Arrma Kraton. Want to get a mamba xlx or the other mamba every else runs. Got a 25tooth pinion and a 40 tooth diff. Can’t keep a set of tires on it. I hate those DBoot Hoons, they are great for drifting and spinning, that’s about it, also those tires it comes with are a joke I tore them up my very first run, I heard they make those belted now. I think that’s what I need. Ty great video.
Thats sucks man. I believe, once you go 6s, you need to run belted tires. Also, I ve heard alot of Duratrax tires are garbage. Id go belted prolines or the Arrma Backflip tires, either the 4s LP’s or 6s backflips. I have the 6s backflips on my Kraton, they re awesome. Good luck!
Mine should be here by the end of the wk, I got the rustler vxl a few wks ago, not a huge fan like I thought I would be, the team associated mt10 last wk, very nice truck, like it a lot, but my curiosity got to me and I have to add the granite, kinda wondering if I should of just got the vortex instead, thanks for the input on upgrades though, going to order the motor mount now so that will probably be the first of them.
Wow, you ve been busy. I think the Granite is a good move..I love it. Especially since you already own a Rustler. Once it s widened, there will be no turning back.!
Love those tires. Blew mine up in less then a minute. But, I had a castle 4 s system in it. Stock, perfect tires!!!!!! Great video, just wanted to let anyone know if they have an upgrade the system .

This is the most important upgrade of them all Make sure to Velcro slap your batteries to the tray/chisis as the straps arent good enough for when your bashing as sometimes your battery will pop out of the side of the body and u will think something got stuck to it and u will drive it back witch was the biggest mistake u ever made as u ended up dragging your battery 200 feet and messing it up and after a while it will start to get less balanced to where u cant charge it anymore or it will straight up explode on impact
Good video 👍 🙂 I like how it looks with mx28 tires 🚀 I see that your arms are bent, it is good to change left with right arms from time to time so they will bend back to straight ℹ️
Hey Philly b how is the tmaxx 3.3 nitro. Had someone offer me a trade for one not sure if it's a good trade. What do u think the value of one of those are?
Any chance you are from Philadelphia ? My Typhon 3s started making a grinding sound last night. I have no clue. I have a replacement diff Arrma sent me with all gears inside. Can you help?
#6 hot racing metal spur gear, #7 6s blx system out of a Kraton so you can easily run it on 4s - 18t spur, #8 proline shocks. Then it's a beast. I should add that I don't have a Granite. I did all of these and more to my Big Rock.
@@phillybrc Yeah I think so. Honestly those zd racing ones that you have are probably just as good. Those stock plastic ones just weren't cutting it for me. I was going to put the typhon 6s shocks on instead of the prolines but I couldn't find any in stock anywhere. I understand about the kids aspect. I bought mine a little Amazon brushed 1/10 so they wouldn't kill anybody.
maan i went with some cheap-ass 35 dollar set of FOUR big bore shocks from ebay. They have been the most durable set of 3S-4S shocks i have in my birdnest of springs and shafts. 😮
Not an easy decision. I would say if you get a Typhon, you have more options because you can run as a buggy( which is awesome) and as a Bigrock by throwing on some monster truck tires…they are same chassis and most parts are interchangable. Decision:TYPHON
5:00 the stock mount is aluminum, the upgrade mount is also aluminum, the $70 "best" mount is also aluminum.. it's kinda bizarre.. if you want something better.. either it flexes, or it's gunna be made out of high carbon steel or stainless steel. O_o;
Did you ever eat up the plastic gears ? I don’t like plastic and I’m thinking of buying this truck and it has plastics gears or drive train I watch a lot of Kevin talbit videos he says that the plastic in this truck is strong and I’ve went through 3 different trucks and eatin out the metal gears smooth on 3s if I buy this truck I don’t wanna have to fix it right away
Well, I d be lying if i said no. Plastic spur and plastic diff. I like leaving the spur plastic because it s a good weak point that is easy to replace. I ve gone to metal diffs, but likely would have been ok with plastic diffs if my 7 year old wasn t driving it also. If you use the slipper clutch and throttle control correctly, it will be fine. Anyways, subscribed amd thanks for the videos, looking forward to upgrading the granite!!
How come no one ever upgrades the drive shafts? I kept blowing my front driveshaft all the time. That was on 3s. The GPM one are ok but if you wear out those pins they fly off and I still can’t find that lost axle tube. So sad, but way stronger than those plastic ones, they kept on expanding at the u joint and the plastic tabs would let the pins take a hike. Tried to run the granite 2 wheel drive. It works but you have to take out all the shafts and diffs in the front and no center drive shaft. Still works way better as a 4wd.
I m not sure what to say, I havn t been through too many driveshafts Jason. Unfortunately you have to be mindful to preserve them. Loosen up your slipper clutch and try not to land jumps under throttle, especially on grass or high-traction surfaces. Also, tires that work TOO good like the badlands cause to blow driveshafts. Perhaps tires that “break loose” a little easier will save you a bit. Also, i tend to run on loose dirt alot, so i m my tires are always spinning, stay off grass….perhaps you are already aware of this info. Hope it helps.

Massive fan of the proline badlands here , also the M2c motor mount and brace and the wheel extenders, really transform and of the 3s trucks into being more driveable and far tougher. I went with a castle mamba monster x and a 1512 motor for the powertrain, its really impressive.
Ooh, that sounds like good time! How s that M2 C mount treating you?

Cool vid, what is the width of the truck like with Badlands on it? Is it any wider than stock or about the same? Thanks! :)
Did you have to put 17mm hub adaptors on the wheels to fit the 2.8 prolines ??
Not adapters…the hubs on the Prolines are interchangeable/replaceable. Available in 12,14,17mm. I ll check but I would think I added the link.

Good luck!

How on Earth do you get the axle to stay on the shaft? I know there's a small screw in there but I can never get it to thread or even come close.

This is the most important upgrade of them all
Make sure to Velcro slap your batteries to the tray/chisis as the straps arent good enough for when your bashing as sometimes your battery will pop out of the side of the body and u will think something got stuck to it and u will drive it back witch was the biggest mistake u ever made as u ended up dragging your battery 200 feet and messing it up and after a while it will start to get less balanced to where u cant charge it anymore or it will straight up explode on impact
That is a solid tip!!! Thank you for the input!!!
I know this is old, but that is a really great upgrade that is easy to overlook.!!
True, crummy strapsruin a good time. I ve been having good luck with the free straps that come with Goldbat batteries
