  • Fronhaul was a remote railway station serving a tiny community near to Bala. it opened under the the Bala and Ffestiniog Railway in 1882 and remained open until 1960.
The station was used for the transferring of German and Irish prisoners to the nearby internment camp.
Today the station building remains as a holiday let, with the platform, awning and signal box all surviving.

I wasn't aware of the camp there until I visited the site. Was quite an interesting visit

Thank you for uploading this, I have a very deep interest in our lost railway assets, sometimes I could scream with frustration at what has been lost. If this line were open now people would ride it simply for the pleasure of doing so, the countryside of Gwynedd and Eryri is as beautiful as it can be. But its gone and gone for good, but not forgotten?

Thanks. Such a shame this line was lost. You are right it would be so busy now as it goes through some beautiful countryside
