Welcome to my channel, where I am sharing all my railway videos.
I have a lifelong interest in anything railway related, especially locos from the Vulcan Foundry, such as class 20, 37, 40, 50, 55 and 86, plus of course the steam locos. I travel regularly around the North West of England, North Wales and sometimes other parts of the United Kingdom filming trains.
"Half an Hour at" is a series of videos where I spend 30 minutes at locations recording today's modern British railways. There are now over 400 videos in this playlist.
"Exploring....." is a new series looking at abandoned former station sites.
"From The Archives....." featuring some of my oldest footage put into compilation videos.

I travel this way frequently and was only looking out to my left trying to follow embankments on the long straight in the valley heading for Dolgellau which can still be seen. Thx for your vid. More of that area would be much appreciated

Can't believe BR didn't even notice the platform or toilet block when they demolished the station
To be honest I think the site has been demolished and redeveloped bit by bit. There was a large hotel (which is now demolished) on most of the site as well as a Co-op and a filling station
I saw this at vally and holyhead between 5am and 9:30am, it was a beautiful sight, omg id give everything to relive that entire day, plus, it was my birthday the same day

In relation to the British railway board (subsidiary) sign... they had the statutory powers and duty to maintain a lot of abandoned and closed railway lines until the axe fell on them too in 2000ish

I live on this line at the old gatekeepers house in Northop Hall and have walked this line when it was still in use in the 1960's many times.
It' a great scenic journey..

my school bus went over the crossing, you rarely ever saw a train, think once or twice, if you did, they would be tankers being taken to ICI
Hopefully they will be coming back at some point in the not too distant future
@@RWHTrains it was always fascinating to me to see it, because it looked disused through the 70's and 80's when I used the school bus, often wanted to explore the place, particularly the signal box, live too far away now
It's really well preserved compared to a lot of the stations. Burn Naze looks like it's worth a visit as well from what I can see online but unfortunately its completely inaccessible

They have maps going back to the 1850s I think. It's a really good resource

You should go to Luton Airport Parkway and Ramsgate
Very interesting. For me, many a family holiday started from Exchange or Victoria in the 50s and 60s. And there used to be steps up to Exchange on the left, just before Greengate arches. 🚂

IT SHOULD STILL BE RUNNING, BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER. TO GO TO SELBY FROM POCK OR MKT WEIGHTON, YOU HAVE TO GO VIA YORK OR HULL . UTTERLY BARMY.

This rail line should NEVER HAVE BEEN SHUT. THE TRANSPORT WE HAVE NOW BETWEEN MKT WEIGHTON & SELBY / HOWDEN/ GOOLE IS BASICALLY CARS ONLY, BECAUSE THE BUS SERVICE IS ABSOLUTE SHIT.
Definitely should have been kept open

I went for a look at the powerstatiion railhead in the early 2000s and the gantry was still in place at that time iirc.

It must have been in the late 1950s when we holidayed in the camping coach at nearby Strathyre. I still have many happy memories of our holiday. Halcyon days.
