I think the invisible sight is the best the L3 is very strong and the other is kinda poor. But I did not know that you can see the beams with an other scope, because like this if you use these on the battle field basically you would expose yourself to the enemy, so projecting these IR beams from high using a combat drone (not a DJi) would be advisable I think.
L3, Boeing, lockheed, etc..are the major players in the government military contract arena. You are correct the unit cost of $4k is overpriced and the material, workmanship, other costs must meet milspec requirements does not justify the pricetag. $400-$600 is likely the true cost of the L3 unit. Just because a manufacture must meet a specific mil standard doesnot mean the cost per unit should increase. Everyone knows that government contracts are intenionally overpriced due to lack of bidders, no bid opportunities afforded to select companies, and lack of competition.
From what I can tell, the L3 washes eceryrhing out and makes target acquisition more difficult. Thanks for the comparison. I think I'll stick with my knock off that I distinguish what I'm shooting at.
I kept the gain on the PVS 14 the same so as to be fair, you could turn it down and get less washout. Based on the metered numbers the L3 has a stronger output so at the same gain level it would make sense it looks more washed out comparatively.
I can understand the difference between the 400 doller and the 5000 doller nvg, but what would be the real difference between the 460 and 480 doller nvg?
They each have pros and cons. Currently the IS lead time isn’t great. The somo has a cleaner illuminator, but it can’t narrow or widen as much as the IS. So you have to way out the pros and cons
@@michaelfranks341 That's not true, I have his ISeg and my friends has the EG factory one. They are not the same. The EG one doesn't have nd filters, co-alignment is off by 30moa, and failed after first mag, just garbage.
Now, if only we can get quality night vision for a similar price point, everything I’ve seen, so far, has been far more than someone who doesn’t have a high paying job could afford. Even the DIY (3D printed) night vision is out of my price range
Tubes are a complicated technology to manufacture. It will be some time before a viable “knock off” can be made on the analog side of the house. That said, digital NV is getting better and cheaper
Do you think companies like L3 Steiner eotech etc care about these other brands taking market share? 1/10th the price is substantial. Additionally the quality on a lot of these cheaper brands are not that far off
They do care. A LOT. Especially L3, they go after these knock offs and try to gate keep in their own ways, or try and get the manufacturers not playing by FDA regs shut down.
Hold on I’m confused the second one you pulled out in the beginning you said was the real one then you pulled out the third one so the real one would be on the left not the middle
Great video! The real Ngal obviously wins. Thats the cleanest flood I’ve ever seen. However I’m extremely impressed with the invisible sight. I might have to pick one up and mess around with it.
You may then may create fitment issues in your rail, but I suppose it could work. If you buy the real one because you need a rugged laser, scuffs probably shouldn’t be a concern
Does the L3 NGAL battery cap fit the invisiblesight NGAL? I have 2 InvisibleSight full power Mk4 NGAL's on the way and I want to get the real NGAL battery cap for my units. I'm not sure if the thread pattern is the same between the L3 NGAL and the IS NGAL.
2 of the 3 functions are on the IR spectrum, so yes you’d need night vision to use it. Wouldn’t be worth the money for using it as a visible laser. Budget and NV don’t really go in a sentence together.. there are digital options, or you can score second hand PVS 14’s for around $2k but most people don’t consider that “budget” dollar amounts. Keep in mind, it’s common to drop $10k on a set of high spec NV binos
Great series of videos, it has helped me a ton! If you still have these, could you take a measurement or the recoil lugs thickness? I ordered the Somogear and was thinking about adhering a flat square piece of rubber to the bottom the makeup for the lack of recoil lugs that would hopefully prolong it's life on my SCAR platforms. Thanks in advance!
@@4MRRanch ah ok, so the lugs fit down into a pic rail opening rather than not top of a pic rail segment. I guess I was thinking it sat on a pic rail segment for added surface area connection for stability.
Seen i guy on here run his somogear on a scar17 for 5k rounds, that has never lost zero. His atipal got destroyed on it also. I think ima give the invisible sight a home on the new 308 Jakl!
Are you planning on doing any live fire testing? So far, every review I've watched about these knockoff IR devices is that they don't hold zero like the "real thing" and that's a huge issue. There is zero point in having an IR laser if it can't hold zero.
@@r3drocket659 happy to help. Sorry TH-cam hates this category of video. I can’t always post links without it being flagged and not blessed by the algorithm
I’m not to sure what your goal is here, but I assume it is to better enable civilian and retired military & LEO to make aa informed decision on which to buy? However, as soon as you use acronyms without explaining what they refer to you lost the interest of most of your civilian potential interest and buyers. Obviously the cheaper, more clear NVS (night vision site), with good durability, and accuracy is the best choice! The more expensive NVS is 9 times the price and it is not that clear (so therefore target identification would be questionable) and for normal every time use reliability battery life is very important to the civilian shooter especially if they are using the targeting system for CQB(close quarters battle) applications defending against home intruders. So longevity of the battery life (in constant use(military) and periodic use (civilian & LEO) is a major concern for each unit you are testing. Military spec equipment generally good but very expensive, generally very reliable, but civilian equipment is just as good for far less price.

@@hops8184when did you order the MK4? I ordered one MAR 1st.
If you had to choose, Somogear or Invisible Sight? Which do you feel is better for the budget minded individuals?
They each have pros and cons. Currently the IS lead time isn’t great. The somo has a cleaner illuminator, but it can’t narrow or widen as much as the IS. So you have to way out the pros and cons
Can you stick a defuser on the somogear laser to dim it down a bit?
What is invisible sights official website? Awesome video by the way!
TH-cam doesn’t love me linking things, so Google “invisblesight is-eg” or go to the evolution gear website
Been running a somogear peq15 for almost 3 months now. It works
Yes it does. Not bad at all for the money
Link?
Where did you get the Inv S you have? I’m wanting to get one, but there is so many vendors on eBay it’s overwhelming.
Those on ebay are fake. You can only get the legit one from his website. But the wait very very long. Everyone want his laser, line up man.
@@lortetithey all come from the same factory in China. He only builds the MK4 himself and thus the long wait times....
@@4MRRanch I do have files for digital panoramic NV, it’s just a matter of sourcing parts
Get an extra credit card just for toys. Over the years, that’s how I got both my ACOG and my PVS-7Ds.
Wow, great comparison test. Thank you.
Glad you liked it, thanks for watching.
Solid info... appreciate you sharing with us all. Have a good one!. Respectfully, Seth
Happy to help, more to come
Do you think companies like L3 Steiner eotech etc care about these other brands taking market share? 1/10th the price is substantial. Additionally the quality on a lot of these cheaper brands are not that far off
They do care. A LOT. Especially L3, they go after these knock offs and try to gate keep in their own ways, or try and get the manufacturers not playing by FDA regs shut down.
Can you even purchase this anymore? The only one ive found is on TNVC with no pricing and just showing Restricted Government & LE only.
Yes. There are places to get them. Also, never trust TNVC with your credit card info.
What illuminated type did you use in this video for the IS?
EEL
Somogear says for “design for airsoft use!” How many rounds can this somogear NGAL hold up to lead airsoft use?
The invisiblesight seems as good and in some ways better than the real L3 or is that just me?
It's better for me personally but it's really a matter of perspective, The QC on the L3 made me not like it thought.
Hold on I’m confused the second one you pulled out in the beginning you said was the real one then you pulled out the third one so the real one would be on the left not the middle
Is this the InvisibleSight NGAL mk4 or the NGAL IS-EG
IS-EG NGAL
How does one get ahold of a full power ir illuminator?
Great video! The real Ngal obviously wins. Thats the cleanest flood I’ve ever seen. However I’m extremely impressed with the invisible sight. I might have to pick one up and mess around with it.
I agree with your thoughts completely
does the invisiblesight in the video use the VCSEL? or is this the EEL model?
EEL
VCSEL is used on their higher model
It seems that sometimes more illumination is too much illumination.
@4MRRanch have you given the ParagonArmory NGAL a run for its money? US based company.
No. Currently not reaching out for more lasers, unless it’s highly highly requested
Great video, but sure would be nice to have links to where one can find the best price on these devices.
@@titus450 I agree. Sadly TH-cam doesn’t let me link these kinds of things
Whers the best website to order this from?
I question the waterproofing in the clones
As you should. Check out my InvisbkeSight torture test
Does adding tape to the scuff mark areas help keep up the finish?
You may then may create fitment issues in your rail, but I suppose it could work.
If you buy the real one because you need a rugged laser, scuffs probably shouldn’t be a concern
This is a great video. I now know which one I will be purchasing
Glad it was helpful!
Is this the newest gen ngal clone or the first gen? I thought they made 2? AND could you just put real lens on the somo to make it more usable?
Which NGAL clone are you trying to confirm the generation? The somo can work with NGAL diffusers but doesn’t come with diffusers.
I own invisible sight peq15. It is really good unit.
This is the InvisibleSight/Evolution Gear NGAL right? Not the actual IS mk4?
Correct
yes. "IS:EG NGAL"
Even with the clones, everything you need to shoot night vision, you are up at the cost of a very good 640x512 thermal.
Outstanding vid, very surprising that for 400 bucks you get just about the same that a 4k plus unit offers.
Keep in mind this video compares output, NOT reliability..
I didn’t try that, but I don’t see the point. The invisible sight cap looks the same and has a similar o-ring design
@@4MRRanch I mainly want to know if the threads match to see if the AA NGAL battery cap will work with it.
Where did you buy the invisible sight NGAL
Straight from IS/founder industries
So this is a dumb question , but are these for night vision set up only ? If so any “budget “ NV out there u recommend? Thanks man
2 of the 3 functions are on the IR spectrum, so yes you’d need night vision to use it.
The lugs are roughly the thickness of a pic rail segment opening.
Let us know how it holds up!
Does someone know if this thing hold zero and is it water resistant?
Where can I get the clone I’m gonna be honest I can’t afford the real but I like the design
Excellent work... any chance you can review the MAWL C1 and clones in the same way? Especially the newer metal ones from WADSN.
I compared 2 different mawls and the wadsn clone in the large laser comparison video on my channel
@@4MRRanch Right on! I'll check it out.. thanks! Great work by the way. Detailed. Intelligent. Thorough. 👌
I had a ngal once. The Doc cut it off, now I feel better
Where are reputable sites for the invisible?
Founder industries. Expect a long lead time.
Are you planning on doing any live fire testing? So far, every review I've watched about these knockoff IR devices is that they don't hold zero like the "real thing" and that's a huge issue. There is zero point in having an IR laser if it can't hold zero.
Yes, full length reviews on both clones already on my channel
What kind of IR laser does the Invisible Sight in the video have, EEL or VCSEL? Which laser type do you think is best?
EEL. I’d go VCSEL, I just didn’t have the option at the time.
What setup did you use to measure power? Pretty cool!
A Thorlabs power meter
I think you cough something intresting at 9:35, left side of the screen behind the treeline!?
Where can i find the invisible sight? I've looked all over and can't find the one you have there.
Google “invisiblesight IS-EG”
@4MRRanch thanks man, thank you for your videos. The information is great!
@@r3drocket659 happy to help. Sorry TH-cam hates this category of video. I can’t always post links without it being flagged and not blessed by the algorithm
Thank you so much.
You're welcome!
You should have had links to these.. I feel like you just sold a LOT of InvisibleSight clones. lol.
Yeah I think I sold a ton. But checkout my update video that just went live.
Can’t find the invisiblesight anywhere
