I'd like to see you completely take this thing apart and show how it's built.. Flush all the water out, clean the lens and try a DIY reseal for everything. That would make for a great video and show what's inside these things and where all the leak problem areas are from the inside.
I’ll probably do something along those lines
Would be easy to take it apart and put potting compound on the board to prevent water intrusion
The procedure for protecting the electronics from moisture AND vibration is "potting" with electronics epoxy. There are many reviews on youtube how to take units apart, what to coat, and not to coat. If you don't need > ip68, to Navy Seal at 66ft, you can use a syringe to inject silicone gel/lube in all screw holes, into dead space in the housing, but I would avoid the lasers and lenses, and try to seal the housing and interior panels around them. Nonconductive putty used in water/insect proofing electrical boxes in construction would be excellent. 1. Pot all electronics and wires to prevent vibration/recoil shorts and wear and broken circuits/solder joints. 2. Use nonconducive electricians putty to fill voids and bulkheads and where wires pass through bulkheads and where wires are soldered/around lasers, in case you have to desolder/fix a part in the future. 3. Use silicone sealant on all batteries, movable switches, gaskets and rubber seals/screw holes (NOT Epoxy). (I do silicone this to all my flashlights/electronics AND coat the batteries and springs/contacts/voids ... I guarantee you that you will NOT have battery acid damage WHEN any battery leaks). I believe the unit would survive 30 min immersion up to three feet, = ip67, if this procedure was followed. Yes, I'm an engineer. If I have time, I may buy one and post a video, if anyone in interested.🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤ to all!
i would love to see this!
what silicone sealant would you recommend?
thx
Definitely
What type of silicone do you use for your equipment?

Channels that provide solid info and no show (read: the ones that really matter) like C_DOES, Delta36, Forgotten Weapons etc didn't get huge overnight. But eventually...
"Have we started the fire?"
The rain is a real concern for me. I did Moons Out Goons Out this year and we got rained on a bunch the first night.
Yeah, I would say this is a pretty valid con to this unit. I think the targeted way I poured direct water is a lot more severe than rainfall.
IRT the heat test. I'd say your 172 is pretty spot on. They say the average temp in a closed vehicle is around 160-180 during the summer, so your 172 simulates using it after pulling it out of the vehicle after it has been in there all day. Keep up the thorough work man, greatly appreciated.

@@4MRRanch ditched the somo, I think this would be good for low power ir laser
@@f.fossil this is a FP unit similar to the somo. I have a video comparing them directly
San Antonio here. Much appreciate these videos. have been thinking of a budget alternative as I was looking at the holosun iris but that could be another year before there's any news on that. As some one who's just getting into NV this seems like a reasonable option
San Antonio bros unite! Lol
This is the best option for $500 or less (GL4 really competing though and saving you $200).
The downfall of invisiblesight is the lead time.
I bought the Somogear peq15 for shits and giggles.. i mean, it works... It would break in a heartbeat if dropped wrong tho. It feels really wrong putting it on an MCX SPEAR though.. Very cool video bro. Well worth my time.
The somo is a good stand in until you can swing something better. I’d rather have the somo than no IR capabilities
For a $500 unit this thing performs extremely well. Now I wanna know how well that $1000 unit they sell is. I think im gonna pick one up next time they are back in stock
I think the new move for the LAM market is for companies to start selling the parts individually and/or as a kit and provide a STL file (3d model) of the housing then for people to 3d print their housing with a resin 3d printer.
3d printing has a large learning curve however the hardest part is learning 3d design (CAD software, I think you said you’re a engineer so I’m sure you’re familiar) you can buy a resin printer that would be plenty good enough for that job for less than $300 and the resin technically could be as low as $30 but even for the strongest stuff would be less than $100. You could also just pay someone to CNC mill it or to use a DMLS 3d printer to print it out of metal (those machines are in the tens of thousands) and then you could assemble it yourself that way it would be a loophole since laser diodes themselves are not restricted and you can 100w (not MW) IR lasers for metal engraving online.
I get the whole technology is different I’m just using as an example but anyway I think that route or a variation of it is the best for the LAM market
my somo had a similar failure in the rain, im sure the water got in through the top from under the fire button however the front laser lens fell off from within and was rattling around. I have basically disassembled somo ngal now and the springs used are quite impressive.
I’ve seen the internals of the somo. Honestly a well built unit, besides the water sealing
Excellent video! I wouldn't be terribly surprised if those shifts were due to the whole rail shifting, even though it is a good one. I'd be curious to see what happens if you mount it directly to the upper and then drop it on the unit.
Not a bad idea. If I revisit this, I’ll mount to the upper
Might be tempted to pick one up from evolution gear now lol but I guess I don't mind the wait times off invisiblesight either
I get feedback on more issues with those than from IS directly, but yeah this was not a great sample to have skipped through some QC
@@4MRRanchexactly.i hv bought one from eg, there are two major problems. First, the wire of the pressure switch is inverted. No matter I use L3 or eg pressure switch, the override mode is on the rectangle button which is inverted with the real one. And I also hv the L3 single button pressure switch too, it become override all the time.
Second, the vis, ir laser output port is inverted too. My unit is ir on the lower port which is inverted with the L3 and urs.
I got two more frds hv the same problem. The other function is fine, hope the factory will correct it.
@@Jon.151 we have already corrected it by the new batch, now we got enough stock, and both 2 problems are already solved sir
@@leoliu490 good to head that👍
back when you did your first video on the Somogear I asked if you be able to water test it and you pointed out that you had to buy these your self so no, totally fair. But ig something changed, any chance of seeing this test with a somo?
Seems like a good solution for waterproofing would be countersinking set screws into the holes and capping with with epoxy. Could still be undone by scraping the epoxy out although it would be annoying, and still allows you to move through all the options.
Good to know. Silicone works but isn’t as permanent if you’d want to pull screws later on
Probably a good solution.
Again, such an impressive device. Is there somewhere we can find a video detailing this epoxy safeguarding procedure? With the massive qty of these devices sold im fairly certain there would be a substantial amount of owners interested in viewing this procedure (including myself of course 😆)
From what I understand, they drop a couple drops down each safety screw hole, then use the screw to seat the epoxy into the hole (remove the screw so you don’t lock it in)
1.What epoxy do they use or you suggest?
2.Drop epoxy in, screw down, then remove and let epoxy dry and then return screw, that correct?
i ordered a mk4 vscel version after watching your review.
I hope to be reviewing a mk4 soon. Currently waiting on mine.
Should wait for 1 year :(
How do you place an order for Mk4?
I'm in SATX and can concur, the dirt is like concrete here when dry. The amount of water intake is concerning though, ngl. Hoping to receive my IS/EG relatively soon; ordered mid March of this year.
This test was done an hour south of SATX. I’m based out of San Antonio, so glad you can vouch for our shitty soil lol
Thanks again for perfect video about NGAL unit. If only those delivery times from InvisibleSight were not so long... I'm still battling between order from EG because of normal delivery time vs IS but who know when it comes..
I’ve heard of more common issues when ordering from EG, but can’t confirm firsthand.
@@4MRRanch we have already solved the stock problem, and solved the over ride and vis/IR laser oppsite problem. since 3 months ago, we already have large stock, the stock problem is only showed up by last year, due to we have to improve the NGAL performance, we have made 6 times improvements on the NGAL.
@@leoliu490 Hi Leo, are you speaking for EG company or for InvisibleSight? Do I understand correctly that NGAL from IS directly and EG Deluxe versiosn are the same now?
@@johnym9051 people ordered since last year keep saying the NGAL is not in stock, in fact, about 3 months ago, we already have large stock of NGAL, IS-EG NGAL is only 1 version, nothing different as to the performance. and we made lots of improvements on NGAL, everymonth, NGAL quality is upgrading. we don't sitting duck, but keep upgrading the NGAL.
Did your egis have any laser splash/artifacts? I got mine and unfortunately the laser isn’t as “clean” as my somo ngal laser
The somo is stupid clean. Just can’t converge as much as I would have liked.
Is this one crane or LA23? He sent me LA23s for testing. I'm a bit concerned about immersion and internal sealing of the crane port. Crane definitely has more potential for water entry. I'll be sending him some suggestions along with my feedback after dumping a case of ammo through both units. How tight are your turrets, mine are kind of squishy while adjusting, but seem to be holding zero and not moving unassisted.
LA23. Some play in between adjustments, but not a whole lot. I go over this in more detail on my actual dedicated review. My intention in this video wasn’t to reiterate the performance I already covered other than in these test conditions. For $500 units, people shouldn’t expect $5k performance
@@4MRRanch I'm fairly impressed so far. Immersion testing worries me a bit. Going to seal my screw holes, give it a bit to set and go shooting this afternoon.
Have you thought about testing the Specprecision DBAL A4?
Have not heard of it, but I will look into it
actually this one is not even good as somo LA5
Do you have any recommendations on running a Ir lam on a Remington 870 (Ik why would you do that right) but I’m thinking about getting a 870 as my first gun and I’ve been working on a night vision project for a very long time and wanna get into night time shooting for a long time. My only idea so far is designing a dual picatinny mount that are side by side and mounting it to a m lok pump. I was thinking about buying a holosun LE117ir and a surefire vamp clone for it when I do get into that.
I don’t suggest anything that’s unsuppressed for night shooting. Especially if you don’t
have a place to shoot far away from neighbors, you’re going to annoy a lot of people. You’ll also produce a decent amount of flash and not be very stealthy visually, sound aside. I also don’t recommend a clone light on a 12 gauge. That said, the LE117 and surefire vampire combo is a good one. It’s probably worth the extra cost for the 221 series (I’d rather have an LS221 series than an LE117 if budget becomes a challenge ). Zeroing at night with an IR laser won’t be as accurate of a zero as you can do during the day.
@@4MRRanch thanks for responding, I was struggling to find anyone with info with night shooting with shotguns besides one person on TH-cam. I honestly thought suppressing shotguns was useless but if I’m making this a night gun then fuck it we ball on a suppressor😁🤣
Any chance of testing the MK4 model? It's double the price, but according to the website, seems to be a much better build.
Do you feel with your opinion that invisible sight NGAL is a better choice over the somogear NGAL? Looking to get one but torn between which one I should go with your opinion would really help since you have hands on experience with both thanks my man! Keep the dope videos coming
This is a really tough question, if lead times were the same the InvisbkeSight has better illuminator divergence/convergence ranges and working diffusers. BUT they don’t have the best lead times, so it makes the somo a tough choice given no lead time. I think both make great night time plinking toys.
@@4MRRanch very valid points, overall I don’t mind the wait since I’m saving for dual tubes, do you have a source I can look at to find the actual website to make sure I’m in the right area thanks man
Sub’d… have you thought about shimming the forward or aft end to get rid of the play?
Personally I don’t want to rely on shims, it’s just another piece that can come loose on you. I don’t think the unit moving during a hard drop is unreasonable. This would happen with the real deal too; what mattered is the diodes didn’t move on me within the unit
I am curious as to two things. First being; is there any reason you did not get the Invisible Sight made and assembled NGAL instead of the IS-EG model that you went with? Second; how does that more expensive, and likely more QC'd model handle these same tests?
Any opinions on lightspeed stuff? I've heard good things, but not sure how it lines up against competitors?
Do you mean laserspeed?
@@4MRRanch 🤔I'd like to blame autocorrect, but maybe I just brainfarted. Yes!
@@4MRRanch the LS-M6 is apparently better than actual APTIAL-C/Peqs
I purchased IS-EG ngal and am waiting for delivery. However, I am worried whether I should cancel my order after watching this video. Do you think this is worth $480? Should I wait for delivery or cancel?
Considering the real one is 10x the cost, I absolutely think it’s worth it
>Geissele is known to have rock solid rails
that made me chuckle, other than that, great video I thoroughly enjoyed it. Glad that theres people on youtube reviewing these things
I guess I was today’s years old when I learned their rails aren’t solid.. but it’s still probably the best hand guard I had to do this with
@@4MRRanch You're probably fine. The only documented issues were with the MK16 rail and the whole reason why the whole "bendy bill" meme started was of how Bill handled the situation, which was to say, not great. Your rail is fine I wouldn't be sweating over it.
He's using the MK8 Rail, it's as solid as an mlok rail gets unless he uses an LMT or the DD RIS3. It hurts me to see me drop that Geissele, but it can take it. 💪
will you re-test when IS "fixes" them with a sealant?
I’ll be revisiting this, I’m probably going to show a DIY way to deal this unit
Is this ngal clone from InvisibleSight itself or EGtactical?
This is the IS-EG, which is the cheaper EGTactical copy. But InvisibleSight does do final QA on those still
This is an IS-EG from invisbkesight themself. This particular unit was not properly sealed by the techs assembling this. As a result of this video, the owner will be making sure the techs seal per his guidance. The MK4 should be sealed because the owner hand assembled as MK4s personally
@@4MRRanch I got to that part. If you try that epoxy trick to fix the water leakage, mind putting up a vid on how to do it?
How much better is the mk4 than the IS-EG?
Based on this, the water sealing should set it apart
Just mount the laser on the upper and you don't have to be concerned with rail shift for testing.
Will definitely do that in the future
I just subbed! Hey sell me one of your units!!! So I don’t have to wait 6-8 weeks…. I can’t ever wait for things. I’m not a patient person haha! I have been waiting 5-6 weeks for 2 suppressors currently, it drives me crazy!! Damn ATF/NFA

Only one I tried was the WADSN and it wasn’t made well
@@4MRRanch well dang. I really just like the way they look. But the one this video seems impressive.
Were do u see these for 500. I see them for over 1000 everywhere.
There is two versions. The IS-EG NGAL starts at 480. The NGAL MK4 starts at 960. IS-EG is essentially the budget version, and the MK4 is the upgraded on to put it simple. Invisiblesights website has all the info between the two.
What's up with the InvisibleSight guys? I ordered many months ago and still nothing.
Severely overloaded on orders
unfortunately the biggest problem with these chinese knockoffs is consistency. I just cant trust that the one I buy will perform as well as this one. I like invisible sight and think this EG option is definitely a cut above the other chinese knockoffs. might pull the trigger and hope for the best because sure as hell am not going to drop 3k on a MAWL and am tired of waiting for the iris.
Is this item from EGTactical or FoundIndustries?
Mine was from founderindustries, but they claim this should have been sealed. It was a miss on QC before going out, but this is the unfiltered results
Comment for the algorithm but hot damn dude your videos are the tits. Hope your channel blows up.
Thanks man, I hope so too. I don’t see anyone being as thorough as me with these reviews. Hoping it helps me grow so I can do bigger and better videos to come.
The water test definitely plummeted any interest I had in this. I’d rather have a reliable, rugged, yet mediocre LAM (LS321) than an impressive one that can’t withstand drops and rain. Looks like I’ll continue to hold out for the IRIS
I feel this kinda did pass the drop after seeing it just got knocked out of position and it wasn’t the diodes breaking free inside. A real peq 15 would have possibly cracked from this. Water is a valid concern.
maybe mount the laser to the receiver for a drop test instead to isolate the handguard, then it doesnt matter what handguard you put it on you are just testing the laser
Yep, will go that route in the future
The unit could get to 170 degrees if you leave it in your car in an Arizona summer.
Valid lol
lol geissele bendy boy at it again.
Are they known to shift? I used this thinking it was my most reputable handguard
@@4MRRanch yes. Original trials of geissele rails by SOCOM indicated that they had up to 43 MOA shift with a dropping of their mk16 rail.
Kind of why you see a lot of people moving from the geissele rails to other brands like AFSOC to the DD RIS III. Also why you tend to see GBRS mounts used with urgi.
They have been said to fix the issues sense ~20/21 but I haven’t seen real solid proof of it.
Can yall torture a somogear peq-15?!
The drop test is not the great solution, because you have an rail which also moves during the impact.
Crane (NAVSEA, armory of SOF unit) fix the laser on the upper for the drop test.
