@martinbohdan2139 I have one. The illuminator is pretty sick. The power of the ir laser seems to be about half of the somo ngal I have. I got a red vis laser and its pretty weak.
The mounting system on that is definitely adaptable and they’re mounts for it. The PVS 14 is a milspec device, if it’s a PVS 14 you were after I’d have just ordered the PVS 14..
@@4MRRanch I thought it was a PVS 14 when I ordered it I didn’t realize it was different. Looks similar. I’m having a machine shop make me an adapter for a standard J arm. I’ve never had night vision and I overwhelmed myself by reading 300 different descriptions on different PVS 14s and these had a wider field of view and would take CR 123 or AA batteries so I figured it would be better I didn’t realize the amount was different. I think it’s superior to a standard PVS 14 in operation. On/off is better, field of view is better.
Hello. Like you I’m former military (‘82-‘88). This is my 1st time watching you, thank you for this content and ur service to our country! But I’m curious, would you please list the prices of the three illuminators?? And thank you for your time.
Technically the real one is not readily available for sale commercially, and the other two are $300 for the Somogear, and $800 for the big peq 15 unit. I try not to talk price, because then TH-cam thinks I’m trying to promote the sale and then shadow bans or deletes these videos.
Yes the ngal is a viable option, I have been using and abusing mine for 6 months and it’s still going strong. Just wish they would release one with high power illuminator and low power laser
In what regards beyond what was shown in the video? The real one is made to a higher standard with better components in the us, the clones are cheaper materials with less quality control.
The NGAL is the “next generation aiming laser” and is just a more updated peq 15 (smaller, lighter and divergence controls on the rear instead of front)
Maybe it's just me not knowing what I'm looking at but the Somo looks to be the cleanest and most usable. The others are overpowering. Maybe you need that at 500 but around here you can't see beyond 200 day or night anyway. Or maybe I'm just thinking that because I picked up a pair of Somos on sale for $175 apiece. And then you forced me to buy a Rovyvon earlier this month. Appreciate the reviews!
The somo has a limited convergence and divergence range. If the other two look overpowering at the concentrator illuminator setting to match the somo pattern, just means you could make it wider and get the same rough output but larger illuminated field of view.
Having used a ful power genuine LA5, a genuine PEQ-15, and a Somo PEQ-15 I think you’re right. The gen Peq-15 & Somo we’re most usable for sure. The LA5 was blindingly bright to the point it was harder to see targets in close settings as it would overpower everything and bloom out your nods. I would never consider using it in any larp/airsoft events either.
It's just easier to call it a peq 15 because we all lazy and memorizing extra numbers and letters in a new order is too much effort, well some effort is too much already 😅 anyways jokes aside I have recently started collecting the different clone lasers on the market cause at heart I'm 10 years old and think lasers are cool. Also they're not being used for anything serious. I live in California and owning an actual rifle is pretty unappealing to me. Speaking on limited to almost nonexistent experience I do feel like anything that's a clone of something with a metal body does tend to hold up better. Cheap plastic definitely suffers more than cheap metal sortaish
@@4MRRanch I do appreciate all the info. And I agree with getting more out of your money. I just don't feel like blowing all my fun budget on the one thing when I can get many things lol

Thanks! Will do!
Still less disappointment than buying the civvy ATPIAL.
You’re not wrong lol
where can i get the bigpeq15 from
He used to sell on tacswap, but has been idle for some time now due to the birth of his first child.
@4MRRanch fair still unfortunate we can't get them at the moment
If i sent you a spec precision dbal-a4 would you do a review?

just bought an armasight mnvd thinking it had the same mount as a pvs-14. why did they do that? why not just stick with the same mounting system....

Somogear PEQ 15 or NGAL? Worth the extra cheese ?
Hands down NGAL

Curious how to get one of the Bigpeqs15
He’s temporarily suspended sales due to a child being born, but will be back soon. I think he primarily sells on tacswap
@@4MRRanch Is the pricing comparable to the somogear, or are you paying more for from what the video shows increased performance?

Dont buy anything from bigpeqs, they are just uppriced fma peqs

Awesome video, thank you.
Thanks for taking the time to watch
Any chance of reviewing sotac laser products? They have a mawl clone dbal a4 clone perst clone and a NGAL clone now
The Dbal a4 failed miserably. I tried.
@@4MRRanch oh god
IDK, I would think the lighter the better. It IS hanging off the end of your rifle along with a suppressor.

Will you be doing a review on the AMMJ Penumbra?

How much does a bigpeqs15 cost?
His navsea unit seen here is going for 800 when I got it. Not sure what current prices are, he’s temporarily been off Tacswap but will resume

Some clones are made “just as good”. I’m just trying to help people understand what to expect if they want to maybe save cash on a range toy

Give me you best pick for a sub 500.00 PAL / Light Laser combo (Green / IR/ with IR illumination)... For a Mark 18 / 556.
You don’t have many options for sub 500. You have to either go RovyVon GL4 pro or the LMD Pail if you can find it

The 8 series somogear is built better
Yes it is, but this was mainly an illuminator comparison
does it have recoil lugs yet lmao
