I can see Oddball being an insane imperial ace. Even to a point of having the oppurtunity to customize his gear similar to Vult Skerris. It would be nice to see him making a cameo in the Bad Batch as an instructor.

I doubt it, Clone Pilots were only ok pilots, its why when the empire could, they were replaced by very well trained non-clone pilots AND various clones of Ace Veterans of the Clone Wars.
The fact he survived that long in the war when clone pilots were a constant shortage is lucky.
Maybe that's why he's called Oddball

Clone pilots in general are very underrated in the Star Wars media. Also, it would be interesting to focus more on new pilot clones and the ships they fly with ARC-170s and V-wings in future series.
And their other ships maybe even some that operate larger ships like the charger and pelta
Oddball really showed how advanced and badass he was by survivng the entire Clone Wars AS A PILOT

He had a odd life but the balls to live through it is amazing
So Nik Sant was ultimately said to be different from Rex even in canon, they show Rex there on Endor, but even that wasn't hard canon, and Filoni said although he was saying they were the same person, why else would an old guy be on Endor, and he said he was gonna make it canon, but then decided it was wrong to do that to a character that was in the EU before he came on. Thanks to the comments correcting that.
2. Oddball wasn't shot down in Battle of Coruscant. I saw some comments on that and went back to see why, idk why I never took this from the scene but I see why people think it was trying to show all of them died to escort the jedi. But there were way more ARC-170s than show blown up, and the official lore canon and legends mentions him on Utapau and into Imperial era. Just no details on, what he did in Imp era.

@@alannatherson7721 apparently they, Disney folks, don't even count that. I didn't realize that it wasn't suppose to be canon. Like there were some silly and fun comics back in legends days same idea not meant to be seen fitting with other stuff just a one off. But when I saw that and knew what filoni originally said about the old guy being Rex, I thought for sure canon.

I believe it’d be interesting to cast Oddball as a villain as an accomplished TIE Fighter pilot. He’d be the opposite of Rex, and would have the honor of serving in Darth Vader’s Death Squadron.
I would love to see a video about Bacara or the galactic marines. And also keep up the good work I’ve learned so much from these videos!

Just to be clear, the Scottish lord advertisement is a good charity, but they don’t actually make you into a real Scottish Lord (the Scottish government won’t recognize you as such) but they send you a souvenir parchment that says you are a lord. You aren’t a real lord, it is just as legitimate as a burger king birthday crown is to actually being a king. Please do buy one of you want to help the environment and make it look like you are a lord, but not if you think it will make you into a real Scottish lord. It won’t.
Minor clarification to an otherwise good comment: It does make you a "real" Scottish Lord/Lady in the sense that you are technically a "Lord/Lady of the Manor". It's a massive technicality that doesn't grant any form of peerage or nobility, and only serves a purpose for bragging rights. In other words: It's just SLIGHTLY better than a Burger King crown.
Considering Oddball being a CC
It's likely Oddball eventually defected to the Rebel Alliance, if he were to still be flying around the galaxy.
However if he were to be training cadets he probably wouldn't even consider defection an option.

@@DayZeroGaming I don't think the inhibitor chips had a permanent effect on the clones minds, I mean it's very possible that a with a strong enough will and independence, like for example Rex would be able to either resist the chip's effect for awhile or even break it's hold over them and become aware of their actions once more (Rex actually did the former long enough to give Ahsoka the info she'd need to find Fives's investigation file and the attached addendum he himself added)
So for Oddball, a clone pilot with commander level training and independence (Oddball was also a part of the 501st and tus under Anakin's command, who encouraged his troops to be more independent, this independence even lead to a sort of moral compass in some of the troops)
I think it is very possible Oddball is able to break the programming for at least awhile, which may be long enough to become aware of the chip and get it removed. if for example he broke it when he'd encounter Rex again.

I’d love to see a story, book, comic, etc covering oddball as a tie pilot who runs into Rex one day early in the imperial era. Like wolf and Gregor Rex convinces him to desert the empire. Then jump ahead to him flying an x or y-wing in the battle of Endor. That would be amazing and a good way to end his story
I’m more interested in the clone who shot down Plo Koon. Even with conditioning and inhibitor chips, I feel the was the one and only Jedi all clones would feel guilty for killing.

wasn't there a comic about how oddball died in a bombing of a base that vader was at and vader comforted the dying oddball and told him he was a good pilot and revealed that he was anakin to his old friend that was dying
That was clone pilot contrail I think.
My hope was he was a good imperial, avoiding cruelty or malice, but still loyal to the emperor and the order, but eventually he’d be retried, too old and rare to even train new recruits, and eventually he fell into obscurity on some mid rim world, living his days flying cargo or as a trainer for planetary defence pilots.
For some reason I didn't know that the clones had nicknames in Ep3. I thought that was an invention of the Clone Wars cartoons. Cool!
What a badass, in a war where constant shortage of pilots was a thing due to them just dying like flies, this guy survived throughout the entire thing while fighting in it's biggest battles. And next to that, he was also seen flying almost all of the vehicles the republic had. No wonder he's a commander and an ace

I like to think oddball was given permission to retire after order 66 and became a commercial pilot in the empirial trade network.
Oddball is one of the main characters in the classic WWII film _Kelly's Heroes,_ played by Donald Sutherland, and I've often wondered if it was a nod to that movie. The line, "Oddball...always on target" sounds like a play on one of the other characters from the film, Mulligan: "Mulligan...on time _and_ on target...and he ain't never been that yet!"

Personally i do believe that oddball would become an imperial ace, but also i believe somewhere near the end of the galactic civil war he became a rebel, i dont think he died in combat, as he was a highly skilled pilot and survived many situations where he should have been dead

It’s my personal head cannon that he joined up with Rex and his clone underground as a transport pilot who knows we might even see him in The Bad Batch season 2 doing what he was made for, flying.

one of my favorite clone troopers in Star wars
I doubt Oddball and other elite fighters were held on Courascant at the end of the Clone Wars bc Sidious was worried about Dooku. In Legends, at least, he would have worried more about an overzealous Grievous I would think. Grievous knew he answered to the Sith, but he was unaware that Palpatine and Sidious were the same. In the Labyrinth of Evil novel, Palpatine actually uses the mind trick on Grievous to order him not to make him speak on the holovid he is about to record for the people of the Republic. They are alone in this scene and it is clear Grievous has no idea Palpatine is Sidious. It is more likely Oddball is there because of the possible other lineages of clones. After all, in Legends cloning for the stormtroopers and other parts of the military continued for years. It took multiple uprisings to end mass cloning in the Empire.

23:54 Thats not rex, thats Nik Sant. There is no official starwars media that says he is rex. Dave Feloni him self said he chose not to erase a character that already existed to replace it with his own. While we do see rex in this part in the adventure shorts, they are not meant tobe taken literally or as cannon.
True I just re looked into this, before it was filoni saying they were the same but yeah he did ultimately say he isn't. Funny could just say that is his new name to hide in the Empire, but thanks for the correction

It was actually Nik Sant not rex and there was an entry on the wiki that said "Filoni revealed in an interview with IGN(sadly) he ultimately chose to not canonize the theory because he felt that laying down an already established character prior to his coming to Star Wars wasn't correct," It is also implied some fans see it as Rex but TRUE STar wars fans know it was Nik Sant so its up in the air.

I'd assume such a talented and experienced pilot would have been selected for distinguished TIE variants like the Defender, Interceptor or Phantom. So I doubt he would have served in a regular TIE
assuming he lived that long. In both legends and canon research and production of such experimental advance TIE models until decades after the clone wars so if he were somehow alive in both timelines for this in canon he'd be around 50 which for a clone is the equivalent of 100 and in legends the lore and timeline is all fucked as it only semi runs adjacent with the Lucas Films as I like to call them but getting onto the point in legends he'd be around 60 to 70 cause of the fucked up timeline. But even if he weren't a clone he would have probably retired or long since been promoted to Admiral or something.
Clone pilots for some reason don't get named as often as the clone troopers. Also oddball is an awesome pilot, i hope he makes a reappearance soon.
Maybe he retired on a peaceful world somewhere.
