Hello there. You should really try Filmic Pro on the P40 Pro. You can use external microphone and have all the manual settings to play around properly. You gonna love it ;)

I took me quite a while to find a USB-C Adapter that was working on my Galaxy Note 10+, the one that actually worked was directly from Samsung. But for some reason USB-C does not mean it will work automatically. Each manufacturer has some differences and most Amazon descriptions just tell that it works with Brand XY without even testing it! They just put the name of often used phones and hope that it will increase their sales then... The search for a working one is a pain, but I am pretty sure that there are some adpaters that work for Huawei as well. Have you tried searching on reddit?

2 years later still massively enjoying this video -- have not once regretted buying P40 Pro, in US I use cameras only, hell it's a camera first with phone features an afterthought... color has gotten better with updates. Not tempted at all to replace, as Huawei's camera reign is over new Mate 60 a sad joke...

Have a Saramonic Omni Lav mic that works with the adapter that came with the Huawei phone. And yes also used a trrs to trs adapter for normal lavalier mics with the Huawei. Worked perfectly. Don't have any sync issues with audio which is weird. Have you set a fixed fps rate in settings? Don't set it to auto. That ruined stuff for me in the past aswell.
Maybe I never noticed sync issues with audio as I cut my footage also on the phone or tablet for that matter (using Kinemaster)

Btw. I just did some testing with my USB-C Adapter on Galaxy Note 10+ and figured out, that not every camera apps supports external recording. On the Sasmung camera app it works, but with Filmic Pro it does not work! So maybe try some different camera apps / audio recorder apps first to see if it is maybe the huawei app that does not support external recording over usb c.

I noticed that when you are in Aperture mode and set the number to 2.8 to 4, it looks more "realistic" because the edges don't wash out as hard as at 0.95. Then you get quite "respectable" results. In so far as one can speak of respectable. But you see where it goes in the future
Yes. The camera is around 1.9 aperture. I would suggest too to a bit less open so the AI matches what the camera can do natively. I always has good results doing this with my old Huawei phones.
As for Google Services. Install F-droid from f-droid.org and in this app store search for aurora store which is a Play Store client. Boom access to all apps in the Play Store. (most of them work though some require non compatible Google Services)

Well done! They just need to get lav options working. As for cases, the Quad lock cases can work pretty well for mounting if you get creative.

Strange how the Rhode isn't working unless... it is user error. Without seeing how you're setting it up it is hard to say what the issue is. If you are plugging the end with 3 bands into the mic and the 2 bands into the dongle that is wrong and needs to be reversed. The splitter I have is some cheap one from Amazon that has headphone and mic jacks and it works without issue, but the cellphone I plug it into has an audio jack....not that anyone would want that jack for any purpose.

When first watching on my burrito-grease covered iPad screen, they both looked blurry and I could not tell the difference..
Get usb lavalier mic and usb to usb c adapter it works, depends also what app you are using for video, FilmicPro, Open camera are working with usb mic.

You can use a usb-c mic on android. I use the new rode NTG beast on my phone. Usb-c cable directly from mic to phone.
The 12 pro max honestly is just fine. The noise reduction is just bad and on the rear camera lens flares make the camera unusable. Especially at night.
The ultra wide has something like a 1/3.5 inch sensor. Smaller than anything I can even imagine in the camera world.

Saw the difference within seconds and I’m watching this video on an iPhone 7.... granted, when I change orientation and the video gets smaller the difference is really hard to tell. But it’s there, the edges are weird and unnatural on the smartphone.
Did not come a dongle with the phone to adapt usb-c to jack 3.5 mm? People use earphones all day long on smartforms xD.

You need USB-C to TRRS adapter, a TRRS mic-headphone splitter, then the TRRS to TRS adapter. Without the splitter only the headphones will work with a lot of those setups

You could try to desaturate highlights in Resolve via Lum vs Sat curve to avoid skin tones going fully yellow.
The iPhone 12 is so overrated, terrible video processing with flickering, oversharpening and terrible highlight compression. Interestingly enough they lose pretty hard in most blind tests but people still buy these - because iMessage...
I can tell the right side is Huawei in 10s. The yellow tint (due to the color array they adopted) and the artifacts on the edge of your face gave it away.
The color of your face gave it away. Much more natural pinkisch on the Sony A7.
Huaweis AI bokeh algorithm is wacky, it gives up quite early in the video.

If you wouldve skipped the fake Toneh, and stopped the Sony down, maybe I would've been fooled for a minute. But that awful Foneh is.. Awful.
For the 3.5mm to USB-C, please try the Google adapter for their pixel phones. I'm almost 100% positive it will work for you. They put a universal DAC chip in it that I have not found a scenario which fails. Seriously.
The artificial background blur (0:11) isn't capable to keep the edges of your head or the tips of the hair sharp in the correct way. So you get the blur that hides distracting details in the background but you don't get the 3D-separation between the sharp foreground and the blurry background. The errors at the edges are also changing from frame to frame making it look pretty wrong "and things happen" (1:35).
At 15:43 you get a much better background separation on the P40. You should stick with this.
The pigeon slo-mo looked great. Overall the smart phone looked adequate until you try to read the text on the drinks, then Sony killed it
I have a 3 year old Huawei P10 plus smartphone and love it in Aperture mode which gives lovely bokeh.

Not too bad quality especially outside footage. Smartphones are catching up...since every year sensors are getting larger, soon will follow a 1-inch or APS-C sensor on a smartphone.
I could tell right away which camera it was 😂😂 because it looks like you’re shooting in front of a green screen with the Huawei with bad separation between you and the “artificial background “ (some unnatural fuzzyness going on around your head) ... which is probably the fake Huawei Toneh border around your head 🤓 PS: when I vlog with my phone, I use a Bluetooth remote control (Jobby shutter remote) that I clip on my pants. not more trying to reach the phone to tap the record button hidden in the fuzzy dead cat 😬 Game changer ! (When shooting with ONE camera 😂)
