I'd pick Huawei, its image looks much sharper and because of sensor's size, it has some bokeh when you film close. The only problem with it is that ugly color shifting, especially orange and green on skin. Oh and also sound is weirdly hissing, can't wait to see folloup with a new mic :)

Low Light Video Stabilisation. Show me everything under 500 Euros that can do it as good as the DJI Pocket 2 does it for its little price. (at least in my country it doesnt cost the absurd sums he is talking about)

THANK YOU!! You are literally the ONLY youtuber who has ever mentioned that the pocket needs a specific phone to even press record and doesn't start attacking people for mentioning it.
The original osmo may need a phone, but it has other advantages that no other device can yet compete with. Even the base model kicks the pocket. With the pocket, just use your phone. It works without needing a phone.

Why don't you compare the Pocket 2 to something more similar like the Fimi Palm 2? The review doesn't do it justice especially when looking at the price point. Also, the Pocket 2 is a niche product made SPECIFICALLY for vlogging and not much else and with form factor/size in mind.

If you bought the Pocket 2 creator combo, why aren’t you showcasing its wireless mic? Or is that not part of the package in Canada? I’ve run some tests and its given me brilliant audio output, comparable to the Saramonic and Rode mics.
Also, most of your Huawei footage looks processed owing to the computational photography. Pocket definitely looks more professional and natural. Love your content but I fail to understand what you have against the little pocket haha. Get the creator combo together(with wireless mic) and pit it against a full mobile vlogging kit with a wireless mic. I’d like to hear your take on it! Cheers!

I found at times the Huawei image looked better in your video, but the consistency is not great so in that area I would opt for the DJI Pocket. However as a content creator the phone form factor and usability is "easier" and means you can get more videos out and once you have have your audio fix I suspect you will create more videos with the Huawei.

Thanks for the review. I’ve been using an older iPhone 8 Plus for walking/hiking videos but it is quite jerky. Both of the units you show here have very good stabilization. Both look quite good in colour and exposure as well. I’ve been impressed with videos from the DJI Pocket 2 that I’ve seen from street walkers around the world. They aren’t Toneh specialists but the intent in such videos is to “profile” the places you are going through so a good crisp background is helpful and mostly preferred. Since I already have a phone I’ll probably get the DJI 2 soon. I’m a little nervous about the gimbal but it will just need some extra care and learning.

I wish that more manufacturers have models with rear screens. Even just a small one similar to the Meizu Pro 7. It can possibly do well in this age of social media and the boom of vloggers. Especially the starting ones that have only the budget for either just a better phone or a camera. Budget phones from Mi, Realme & Poco have shown that entry to midrange phones sell as long as it has good cameras and features. Not everyone can afford flagships. Good EIS has also changed the landscape. Before, only flagships had some sort of stabilization.
Edit: For those shooting and vlogging even in 1080p, it's unlikely that they'll need theflagship processor. Even midrange chipsets can shoot and edit upto 1080/60.

You are using the term "stereo mic" so wrong my friend. I think you mean omni-directional or something that pics up a lot more atmospheric sounds when you talk about the characteristics of the internal phone mic. A lavalier mic can be stereo too, it only doesn't pick up traffic as much because of relative loudness and distance to sound sources.

Hi, great video again! I have the original DJI Osmo Pocket, and love it, specially for its stealthy capabilities. In a crowded area, you can use it (or the Pocket 2) in "torch mode" holding it flat and low so as to not having to look like a total dick. It is limited for vlogging admittedly, although Ok with a wide angle adapter. I just find that phones are too obvious and others around you get very self conscious (even aggressive occasionally). Really looking forward to see what the Pocket 3 will do (eventually). Oh, and the Pocket 1 has a better tracker than Pocket 2.

      @bingbong4848 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Speaking as a bumbling dad with both Osmo pocket 1 and a camcorder, it depends on what you're using it for.
If i wanted nice footage of the sunset, or a time lapse, or even photos with some manual control it will be Osmo every time. If I was out with the family or moving around a lot with changing situations, the camcorder or phone wins every time. I miss a lot of good moments with the OP. No zoom, always in the wrong gimbal mode or accidentally taking photos instead of video, or turning the camera round accidentally.
Like Casey proved in the video here, lots of user error and the moment is gone.

you're supposed to use it without any accessory. 20mm f/8, decent audio, cheap enough, really smooth stabilisation, resists heavy rain just fine, decent low light footage, image processing isn't excessive, and usable footage on the 40 mm zoom setting. i think you completely misunderstood this camera

Well,.... many people have both. But the phone can do so much more things. I do banking too along with all other kind of sh**. So, I would not use it mainly for videos and photos even they are fantastic. But when i go to the wild and in the winter ..I don't want to use my phone. And you know you need finger to unlock it. So you can't use gloves with the phone. That's why I got this perfect camera that take perfect stable videos (once you get used with the guimbal modes). So..don't use you mobile office in the wild to take better pictures and videos:) smartphone has different purpose. I even scan and sign documents with is better and faster than on my PC:)). Great reaview though. Keep up the good work. :-)

  • @AlexMarkTravel

Bruv out of 10 aspects compared Pocket 2 is winning like in 7 out of 10 comparing to the Chinese Huawei P40 PRO, that phone has amazing stabilization, but colours and wide angle are crap.

Don´t worry, the footage looks far superior to that phone. The phone is hideously over sharpened, terrible colours and looks like its running a low bitrate too. You made the right choice.

@@rogerwilcox4916 No worries, honestly as much as I love this channel its mostly for entertainment. It regularly makes me laugh out loud but I wouldn't come here for advice on what to buy.
A good channel for camera reviews who i trust is a channel called The Hybrid Shooter. I don´t own either of these cameras but I have watched a bunch of footage of the DJI, phones, Gopros.
This pocket 2 takes great footage from what I can see, it may struggle in low light a bit due to sensor size but outdoors it really looks fantastic. That being said I dont think there is a massive difference between this phone, pocket 1 and 2, Hero 7 and 8 (I own a couple of Hero7s and larger Panasonics).
Id be happy with any of the above except this phone, bad audio sync problems and the footage doesnt look any better than a Gopro to my eyes. I do have a less expensive Huawei and apart from the odd photo Ive never even bothered to attempt to record a video with it.

The Pocket trumps action cams because the stabilisation is physical, so you don't get as much of that horrid blocky crap in low light/higher ISO situations.

Pocket 2 is WAY better in low light and shadows looks better in general, the audio also is better. The video on the P40 at night/low light is useless due to motions blur and heavy noise reduction.
