(To be clear. All Huawei wanted was for me to make a video about the camera. Every photo, opinion and criticism is my own. And for a £899 phone, I think the camera is great 👍)
Cmon man. This is not fair to your viewers and people who support you. I understand that this deal is financial great for you, but your viewers and subscribers brought you tot his point, isn't that true? So they need a objective and real review and not a sponsored one. You can say this is my real opinion etc... But we all know what sponsored mean. Some of us only have budget to spend on one phone in 3 years. And you f**** us over for some huawei money? @@ktomorful hey! I Definitely take your point. But I'm not calling it a review, and all they asked for was to explore the camera features. I'm very careful about the content I make and who I work with. If I don't think the p40 had a great camera I wouldn't make the video. Also a lot of people hide the fact videos are sponsored, I like to be completely transparent
I used to be an influencer years ago and I would get free stuff and be asked to do vids about them. It began to give me anxiety and my channel was making me depressed. LOL So much time and effort for so little return. I'm retired so it was just a hobby anyway.
Anyway, I removed most of my high end videos and reviews and kept some of my original random tech videos. Ultimately I lost a pile of subscribers because of this and my channel is now a dead zone which I only upload rubbish videos to now. I feel better about it tho. It's fun again.
My channel(The App Shack) is named after an FTP server I ran 25 years ago. I only put it offline five years ago. I miss those days. My intro was made by an animator that now works for Mondo Media. I may start a new channel. I don't know. I don't have any ambition for it anymore.
What's the resolution of the 7680fps slow-mo?
Huawei truly do have remarkable cameras. The biggest holdout for me is how different the colour profile of an image/video comes out depending on which lens you use. It is something I noticed and will never be able to unsee. It was most evident in the video you demonstrated with the two lenses filming at once. This is something that Apple, Google and Samsung have seemed to do a decent job at overcoming.
We need Google services back on these phones... PLEEEASE USA

I Just got Huawei P40 pro few days ago. I am so happy. All apps that I use are now installed and working perfectly. All Google services needed are already running. I've compared camera with iPhone 13 and Huawei is way way better.

I just got one of these last week and it's great. A lot of my photos so far have been poor, but it's because I've been trying to take photos in ridiculously dark situations just to test it, but with any little bit of light at all it's great.
I also took a Moon photo, and it's virtually exactly the same as the one here, but just one note: You said _"without night mode"_ in regard to the Moon photo, but you definitely wouldn't need night mode when taking a photo of the Moon, you pretty much need the opposite, since there's no shortage of light from the Moon.
Generally the Moon will just be a big bright blob in normal photo mode as the phone tries to figure out why everything is so dark, until it realises that it's the Moon, and so it adjusts the exposure accordingly. If you have the AI turned on you will probably see the word "Moon" popping up on the screen as the phone adjusts the exposure.
I also took one at x50 and it was -really_ difficult to keep the phone pointed at the Moon.
Definitely a great phone to mess around with..

I'm about to start uni next year and just broken my old laptop, would you consider the msi gs66 but the 1700pounds specs one to me tech chaps, if not what other light but good gaming laptop would you consider. Was going to go with buying asus rog strix hero but after watching your vid on msi gs66 made me change my mind as it much cheaper with 10th gen Intel i7 than the 9th on asus. Does the P40 Pro have a video mode which lets you adjust the focus manually?
The photo mode yields better results than night mode in most situations. I though that I'm alone in noticing this. I take photo mode and night mode to be sure that I get the best shots.
Hi techchap, you miss the review on the Macro shot result. What is your opinion on the macro shot between P40 and P40 Pro? As some of us know that in the P40 series, only the P40 that has super macro mode using it's ultra wide lens whereas P40 Pro and P40 Pro+ does not have super macro mode anymore (removed by Huawei). So does the result of P40 macro shot with super macro mode (using its ultra wide lens) is better compare to P40 Pro macro shot with 5x optical zoom? Can you please test this out? Thank you

@@contagiouslaughs3383 I bought it and enjoyed it for a few months-- I go through plenty of phones. Currently using the Sony Xperia 1 III and it is the MOST incredible phone I've ever used. 4K / 120hz screen. 21:9 aspect and incredible Sony camera system. Enjoy 💯

Maybe 2 main cameras. one for the regular 50MP camera and maybe the second main for either 12 or 108MP. Then the software will detect which cameras to use based on the scenario. Thinking that maybe the 12MP have large pixel size

For astrophotography side pixel 4 is pretty good but Huawei just makes it better than pixel 4.
This phone is the Godzilla of cameras as I've got the Huawei p20pro and normal p20 and I've tested them and both are fantastic!
Glad Google isn't on this phone as Google are watching your every move! Long live Huawei and Huawei p50pro will be even better. Huawei knows how to make their cameras the best in the industry because they know how to do it better than the rest!

Unfortunately the lack of GMS is a very serious omission; in particular the lack of banking apps.
It would be great to know if the various TH-cam GMS download and installation are actually reliable.
Banking apps are being added to AppGallery continuously...

I love whipping it out to point and shoot. Though my family doesn't like it most of the time I find it relaxing and it allows me to release anything that's built up. This quarantine sucks because it means I can't whip it out everywhere and show off all 160mm of it.

How were you able to take a picture of the moon this good? because at some point for me at 50X it just looks upscaled and nothing sharp like this so I don't understand

Thomas, i’m still using my mate 20 pro, tested s10+/N10+ then S20U then OP 8 pro but returned them all. I can’t live without thr battery life and versatility of my huawei. Would you recommend the P40 pro given the google situation, honestly ? There are lany apps that won’t ever work and i need my contacts and agenda to be synced on my google account ....

yes. it's too good a product to ignore. and huawei offers plenty of workaround solution on their own store too. so its great
honestly - the lack of GMS is frustrating. There are a number of work arounds and if you're happy to put some effort in you can get it to how you want it (near enough). I think for most people it will be too much effort vs buying any other great phone on the market. However - the p40 pro does have a great camera, and with Huawei's investment in the App Gallery over time it should improve!
P30 Pro is a good alternative if you require gms official support..camera and battery are simply outstanding.

i owned a p30 pro and now a p40 pro. the closeupt mode it goes into when you get close to the object werks perfect in the p30 pro.. in the p40 pro it keeps on focussing in and out and i cant get a good shot a lot of the times in closeup. the closer i get the more it worsens btw

Huawei said night mode is used when there is very less light but if there is plenty of lights like buildings you can use the normal photo mode.

Why is that the P40 Pro cant switch lenses when recording in 60ps in FHD or UHD?.
I'm quite confident it can switch between the ultra wide and regular camera, but not to the telephoto module. I don't know why, but it's the same for the P30 Pro. Maybe because the telehoto module can't do 60 fps?
@@schneider1112 great then if it is still switching in Ultrawide and main camera, but I'm more concerned on the telephoto camera really. As I want to shoot in 60fps even just in FHD, but I saw in reviews that it cant switch to the telephoto lenses in 60fps. :/ . I'm eyeing the P40 pro+ really which has 2 telephoto lenses, but not being able to record in 60fps on the telephoto lense, esp the 10x one is a bummer really. :/
Can you try underwater photography with the phone.
the dedicated underwater mode just locks the screen so there's no random inputs from the water, you take a photo with the shutter bottom (or on a timer). But with the Ip68 water resistance you should be able to take it into water fairly safely.
