    I have owned my new Stelvio for about four months and I love it. I drive a BMW 328 which was just too small. The Stelvio is the perfect size for me because I don’t have kids but I need to carry bulky items for home improvement and gardening projects. I’ve taken my Stelvio on a road trip and it was flawless. It’s quiet and comfort and very quick to the point that you have to be careful not to exceed the speed limit, which I did often.

    First time watching one of your reviews, and I have to say I love your review style! Very casual and natural. You also absolutely hit the nail on the head -- your perspective on the steering wheel, interior simplicity and cohesive dynamics are spot on and major reasons why I bought the Giulia. I guess we "driver's car" people are indeed aligned on this.

    I bought 2015 Macan S back in February wish I had test driven one of these beforehand , looking at the Stelvio on Autotrader I could of had a newer lower car mileage car for less money . I have a 996 that I drive for fun and the Macan for daily driving in city traffic , when I park the 996 and walk away I have to turn around and look back the Macan not so much , I would like to have daily that made me turn around . I was making the exact same decision in June. I ended up with the Stelvio for basically the exact same reasons that you listed - I think the interior in the Porsche is more premium, but really I have absolutely no complaints with the Alfa. It's got the "lookback factor" in spades. It's also a damn hoot to drive in Dynamic + manual with the massive aluminum paddle shifters. I think I would have loved the prestige of owning the Porsche brand, but frankly I'm not sure that the Alfa is any worse in any other way - and it's cool owning something that you don't see on the road every 5 minutes.

    Whomever specced the options dropped the ball on the interior color choice. Verdi Visconti green would look killer with a warm Black/Chocolate tan interior. Charcoal black looks so boring with green. I love the Giulia and Stelvio a lot though. Best drivers cars around with no bullshit.

    We went to buy this exact car with chocolate leather but found the 20s on the fixed suspension to just be way too firm. I say that as a current Giulia owner, which has amazing compliance with the digidampers. I do think the seats, cluster, and infotainment ergonomics are the best no nonsense setup of any sports car at the moment. JB4 also works excellent on the 2.0L and got my Giulia Q4 to 4.4 sec 0 to 60.

    I dig it. The only car I've driven in this class is the Macan. I think those two are probably more similar than the other German compact SUVs. The Italian GTI on stilts comparison definitely makes sense, though - the Alfa has a little too much sportiness to be considered as a "boring" luxury CUV kinda like you said. I really want to say I'd prefer the Giulia sedan, but darn it if this wouldn't be a more practical option.

    • @miks564
      @miks564 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not just turbo lag. When driving in 'auto' the ECU makes an effort with the gearbox to keep the rpms below 1500. ...and at those rpms if we press the gas, the gearbox has to downshift 2 or 3 gears below and then the turbo has to spool before we get the fast response we're looking for.
      Anticipating the need for faster acceleration, we can downshift prior to enter a roundabout for instance and leave the gearbox in manual.
      While driving in manual, we can really enjoy the response of the machine without any annoying waiting times especially if we change the driving to Dynamic mode.

Instead I try to figure out why they exist and who they are for. I don't pull punches when things are bad...like a jarring suspension or terrible brakes (Lexus GX460), but every car has some sort of merit even if its just a great grandma car. Most modern turbo engines are going to be around 6500-7k. Unfortunately we may not see 8-9k redlines in affordable cars ever again

    The exterior looks awesome, interior and tech a little below par

      I agree. I think the interior appeals to folks who appreciate simplicity rather than the latest tech

      Check out the burgundy interior - it makes a world of difference and brings the interior to life! The black on black interior doesn’t do this justice ... that’s more up Audi’s alley.
