What do you think of the RWD Ghibli GranSport? Special thanks to Boston Motorsports for offering this car for video. Find their inventory here www.bostonmotorsportsmaserati.com/
Love my metallic blue 2017 Ghibli S. £85,000 new, picked it up for £26,500 with 38k miles. It's a lot of car for the money used but does not make sense as a new car
I’ve always seen Maseratis as fuckboy car…and I was dead wrong when I drove that exact car. I fell in love! I’ve always owned Si’s. And Si is a drivers car. But yea haha I’m getting old also cause I want paddle shifters
Man you really hit all the points here. For the past 5ish years I’ve received so many ads trying to get people to lease Ghiblis, I’ve seen them everywhere, and I honestly haven’t had a lot of respect for them (especially with their notorious panel gaps, outdated tech, and the like). But here you really showed their worth, and I think Maserati is getting some of their soul back (: Can’t wait to see what happens with the MC20
Maybe you shouldn’t watch all of these ‘expert’ you tube dork reviewers. Go see one. The pane gaps are fine. Tech is what you need(especially if you actually WANT to drive). Get out and see for yourself.
It’s truly shocking how people bad mouth the Ghibli THAT HAVE NEVER DRIVEN ONE. It’s hard to put into words how truly special this car is and how much fun it is to drive. I’ve had BMW, Mercedes etc, and I find them so boring and a dime a dozen to be honest. They may have better knobs (it seems to really bother people that the knobs are made by Chrysler for some reason lol), and more complex tech (but the Ghibli has all the tech you need starting at 2017 and newer), but they don’t have a soul. Every single guy that I’ve let drive my Ghibli literally has a permagrin while driving it. It brings joy!
Yup. Too many sheep follow a shepherd. All of these expert you tubers reviewing cars and talking about oversteer, tight, braking etc as if they have a clue. Just go see one for yourself and drive one I say. Either you’ll like it or you won’t.
Most underappreciated car in this segment and one of my personal favorites. It may not be assembled like a Lexus or have the cutting edge tech of an Audi, but the charisma and personality of this is so refreshing in this segment. I’d easily have one of these over anything German, albeit CPO with an extendedass warranty, ofc
Or an aftermarket warranty will work just fine from a random hole in the wall dealership, since it will cover most of the MAJOR expensises to go wrong. Ghiblis can run for over 100000 miles easily with routine maintenance, just make sure you have Some type of warranty, just in case 😀
The car has tons of charisma but it drives like a slug. Very heavy and outside of a great exhaust note, it's not very engaging. Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio all day long and twice on Sunday over this.....Sorry....agree about the German stuff though.... BMW = German Toyota minus the reliability !!!
Haters the levante is so nice. My mom just got a 2020 levante gran sport and it's pretty damn awesome with the air suspension and how fast it is. The interior is actually extravagant too
Those Zf 8hp trans are really good in premium sedans. My first test drive was in a 520d f10 (yeah what a brutal engine ..) but the transmission was so good, the shifts were like it was reading my minds. Smooth, reactive at the same time, not lost between 2 gears. They really pushed the limits of what an auto can do. And matched with a nice engine like in this Ghibli, rwd plateform so it feels more natural rotating and pushing. It's quite a killer daily driver !
I’ve got a 17 SQ4. Love it. Owned Audi, MB, Alfa, VW and this is by far the best. People love it as well. It’s a true gentleman’s car with the looks, prestige and performance to back it up. Viva Italia
Discovered your channel a couple days ago and I’ve been binge watching your videos ever since😂I must say since you quit your job your content has improved! I’m so happy/proud of you. You’re finally doing what you love! Keep up the phenomenal work my friend!👍🏽✨
Thank you! After quitting 2 things happened. I was able to put all my focus on the task at hand (Drive, Film, Experience, Describe), and I had the time to figure out how I wanted to present the cars in a simple and engaging format that I can repeat. It's all starting to click.
I agree with you; the qualities needed for driving on the road are a world away from track driving. Also, the move away from physical buttons and knobs is downright dangerous as to operate a touchscreen requires you to take your eyes off the road for far too long.
Thank you for the great video. Totally professional and showed what this car is actually all about. It’s not about just numbers but how it actually makes you feel. A lot of main stream so called car journalists that work for large shows and magazines can learn a lot from you. Thank you again.
That engine has some real character! I wish they would make this car in 3 pedal form. Perhaps as a swan song for this generation? I also have the ZF8 in my B8.5 A4. Great transmission but I miss rowing gears. Also, this video was a nice reminder of Boston roads I haven't driven on since the pandemic began (I live here too). Good stuff as always man
Just recently drove a 2020 Levante Gransport and Ghibli....although they lack some of latest tech, ambient lighting and so forth, I found them to be enjoyable, elegant, very refined and exclusive. The power from the engine and sound are good too. They need to be specced right though.
You went from saying that you don't like these cars that much to really liking these cars which is kind of funny. If anyone thinks that this car isn't fast than they are crazy, this car is fast enough that if you're out on a highway and you're not paying attention, than you can get arrested. That is FAST to me, especially as effortlessly as this car speeds up. I always like your videos, you sound almost professional and you speak with some energy and personality, Thumbs Up dude. I like the way that you speak/narrate in these videos...i hope that doesn't sound...mmm , never mind. Time to go.
haha thanks man! I definitely pre-judged it and I'm glad I got to experience it and explain it in real time. While it falls short compared to similarly priced cars in a lot of areas, it has a unique and engaging driving experience that can't be found elsewhere. I have to give Maserati a lot of credit for this
When ever I drive around exit 17 in Watertown I always keep my eyes peeled for someone with a camera on their head these day hoping to see something out-of-the-ordinary haha. Also, have you tried getting in contact with some of the route 1 dealerships like New England Ferrari? They used to have an Enzo front and center inside a few years back....
I love the Maserati brand specially the MC. Epic video and good energy and learned a lot. Peace and Love and that Ghibli GranSport is sexy and a true machine...
I don't think it's unreasonable to find dissatisfaction in how controls are baked into menus and screens nowadays. It's genuinely distracting to have to fumble with a capacitive soft-touch button or a series of touch screens. One of the things I really don't like about modern Teslas is how you can't even adjust the wipers without hopping in a software menu.
Great video. I really like the way you filmed it, and I agree with everything you say. One thing though, don't disrespect the SQ4. It is heavily real wheel biased, and the front wheel just kicks in when you need them. (There is actually a display showing the tourqe distribution. Not very useful, but interesting.) I bought a 2018 SQ4 a few weeks back, and I'm loving it. I have previosly had Audi Quattro as well as MB 4Matic. The SQ4 is something completely different. You should try it sometime :)
Well even though I'm an equestrian maseratis are still my most favorite car in its class. Not really a fan of BMW or Mercedes. But for trucks I'm a Ford and Ram guy.
That's a lovely car.Trouble is,your comment about 'more entertaining and tactile',while you're 100% on the money, equals too many of these lovely cars being bent around trees by people with deep pockets but no driving skills that try to show-off
Compare a regular E46 to Alfa 156 it was still a watered down experience, the same it today. This is one of the reasons why BMW sells much better, they are made for the masses, a regular Alfa was always a true driver's car, even in FWD form.
I think people misconstrue “emotional” and “character” with “likeness” and a “tuned exhaust.” Common facts indicate that this car is poorly made and has the guts of a Dodge Dart… Regardless I do enjoy the design, always have loved the look of Maserati’s. But to compare this “to the pack” is absurd… This car is far from equitable to its competition in every aspect. The car and brand (as of current) isn’t disliked for trivial reasons, it has serious issues. The brand itself utilizes its likeness and name to allure buyers. I think shaming people for buying one is low, and I truly think people enjoy the car/brand. However, to qualify it among its peers is just wrong, it’s not even close. Sadly, many who are heavily invested in cars will without a doubt cast judgement. It’s hard to see through the countless negatives.
I kind of like Mercedes (although modern one are far behind then what Mercedes was in the past) but I'll take the Gibly over any of the Germans in a heartbeat.
