Pocket Horns cant even take advantage of Horn to its fullest extent so there's no reason to be worried about the weapon being reduced. If the players want to limit themselves to 1 weapon with buffs instead of using the extra versatility that comes with 2 weapons then thats their choice. I'll probably be running 2 Horns to help the team better match the conditions of the fight.
tl;dr HH is not a support weapon, as a hammer main, I sometimes feel its a more effective beating stick than hammer The one time I tried to learn HH in MHGen I recall absolutely kicking ass and thinking it was a way better and more versatile hammer, I dont remember why I went back to hammer and never touched it again, but I never once thought of HH as a support weapon after that. The buffs were always a secondary thing for me (i forgot them constantly); the attack movement and control over where the big heavy part of the weapon is in relation to the monsters head gave me a sense of power/control over the hunt that only the hammer Dash-Breaker silkbind skill in MHRise has managed to equal.
@@kilowhiskyforge4337 There was no greater joy in MH3U than lining up that backswing while the monster is charging and getting a knockout or part break while everyone's watching in glorious HD.
Doubll hunting horn will be way better than pocket horn. Hunting horn is insane ehen you play solo. Lots of damage, knockouts, and buffs for any sitiarion.
See, as someone that has been converted to a Hunting Horn main over the last month or two and has been learning the weapon, I'm not worried about usefulness in a team setting really. But I think we have to pay close attention to how Capcom balances Wilds hunting horn. In Monster Hunter World, its moveset is slow and doesn't hit that hard with the exception of the secret note attack added in Iceborne, which they've also removed. The approach to balancing in World is fine, because of the binary nature of Hunting Horn in that game; you have to choose to bring the hunting horn and use it to receive its buffs, which makes putting up with and getting better at the moveset worth it. When you allow hunters to switch weapons as freely as Wilds does, Capcom is now tasked with the challenge of making the base Hunting Horn moveset appealing in its own right-and I think they're TRYING to. They gave it a counter, they sped up some of its attacks and performances, they gave it fields it can place down to do damage in concert with its attacks and apparently they have some timing mechanics for hunting horn to do more damage as it performs. We'll see how it plays out and we'll know more once we all get our hands on a demo. If they did just copy and paste Hunting Horn from Monster Hunter World into Wilds, I'd probably still play it as a secondary weapon but I'd be using it a lot less in prolonged situations in a fight. Probably only when I want to reapply buffs and/or use a blunt weapon instead of a ranged or cutting one-and I think that with Sonorous, your buffs could last pretty well throughout a hunt without taking the horn out that much as long as you apply it before engaging a monster as it moves, and maybe once or twice more during a fight before it runs away. Even then, you don't have to be allergic to Hunting Horn if it's a secondary weapon like that, it just may not be used as much as another primary weapon capable of more damage. Anyway, I enjoy it enough that I'll probably still use it and figure out how I want to play it in Wilds. Hopefully with them giving it enough new tools and adjustments and seemingly leaning into basing its effectiveness off of a skill ceiling, it shines in the Wilds environment enough to make me consider using it as a Primary weapon and not more of a Secondary weapon that supplements myself and my hunting party, because I do enjoy the playstyle a lot and what it offers to the Monster Hunter dynamic.
i think the only person making wild and unfounded assumptions might be you cherrypicking your comments for a single gotcha to barely engage with and then decide that the only way someone could disagree with your position on the matter (not that you're going to honestly represent what their disagreements are, of course) is if they MUST be a kind of player you think lowly of.
@@iixxion not interested in the attention, i just want you to be more honest about the people you are talking about instead of the constant strawmen because you're probably above this sort of thing, but it feels like you just have an axe to grind and that comes first.
I guess people don’t really know that the devs are supposedly finetuning HH to be much better this time around damage wise. Also because of pocket horning, this will probably elevate HH mains due to the uptime they get to keep with the buffs while also playing the hammer role. Gamers seem to not understand that HH is a weapon first above all
The only people complaining about pocket horning are people who don’t main horn because their brain says “optimize” and optimizing may or may not mean running horn as a secondary Even if pocket horning does become the damage metagame, this literally does not effect actual horn players because we’re just vibing out doing our thing and buffing our secondary weapon when needed for different damage, ranged or slicing for tails and whatnot. People saying that this ruins Horn Mains’ jobs of being buff machines and that buffs should not persist it after weapon swapping are the equivalent of a hero shooter player saying the support characters should not be able to help them selves or defend them selves in any situation and exist purely and exclusively for the benefit of the team, not them selves. It’s not fair if Horn can buff everyone around them and their two weapons anytime they swap while the Horn main them self is actively discouraged from ever utilizing the swap mechanic because once they do, all their buffs will vanish so there’s no point in swapping in single player or multiplayer.
2 different horns for max song list is the true maestro build. Giga Chad level of play. And I’m serious. I might main HH this entry just because this is so great (Edit: I always play HH just don’t main anything usually as I like all weapons)
my opinion on the pocket horn is, i dont think it will be a problem since seeing how slow and impractical it is to play the horn while on a Seikret i feel like it will be more of a burden than an "Effective Meta". Sure you can switch then dismount to have an easier time playing the songs, but you will just be wasting time doing your switch > dismount > buffing > mount > switch back > dismount > back into battle. What makes it worse is when you realise you have to do that every 2 minutes(3 w/Horn Maestro) because that is how long the atk up buff of the HH lasted.
I dont think those people play the horn for the horn sake. Or did they forget hh mains are the ones arguing that HH isn't a support weapon. It's a dps weapon that just happens to buff people. If you just so happen to be near us when we play our songs... well you get the joke. Cutting weapons should be complaining that HH now has a way to cut tails. We use to need them to help us get tail cuts, now we just choose a horn with a slicing sound wave and we good.
Hunting horn needs undivided attention of the monster, I dont see why its a good idea to use it in multiplayer since it will often target your ally instead.
This version of Hunting horn looks more appealing as a weapon to try out and learn in my personal opinion then it ever has been. (Ps I enjoy your vids 🤗 just leaveing this here to contest the people who think its being trivialized)
Wow, so you missed the entirety of iixx actually giving a pep talk because you assumed something about a video you didn't even watch. Cool. Exactly what I'd expect outta the average hater in his chat XD
i can see both points. I won't be bringing horn as a second weapon, it just feels... disrespectful somehow. It definitely feels like a different animal entirely than a hammer guy bringing LS to cut a tail or something. But also, I just don't care to learn the horn, I'm deeply committed to my one-weapon lifestyle and I'll be bringing multiple SnS on my big chicken
Thumbnails is such a stupid L take. No it's not about "ah my buffs are useless" It's about it being meta and so much more effective not doing it puts that "I'm holding myself back" feeling. This feeling sucks.
Legitimately what do you think Horn provides offensively over Hammer ? Its damage is way worse, its KO build up is worse, its way slower and maneuverable, i guess maybe longer reach and Elemental Potential in Rise/Sunbreak ? While i don't think the Pocket Horn thing is gonna be a real issue cause of time lost and Limited Notes AND playing songs making Very Vulnerable AND the stacking Benefits of a Variety of Songlists benefitting from Melody Duration Up Song on the Guy actually using Horn, but i don't think this sentiment comes at all from a place of insecurity. Fundamentally speaking HH is just a straight worse Hammer because alot of its power budget is moved towards Songs, IF Songs were extremely easy to come by AND Hunting Horn's Power/Damage Output remains relative to past games (ie. Bottom 2) AND it doesn't get any other utility, i think it would be fair to be concerned imo. It's genuinely ass-backwards logic to see a guy afraid their weapon will be turned into a potion, then draw the conclusion that they enjoy using it as a Potion lmao
To the hunting horn dudes out there, using light bow gun as a secondary to paralyze and sleep monsters is WAY more optimal then any buffs of your weapon gives.

Hammer got them fluid combos and individual hit impact, Hunting Horn got the legs to scoot around and swing wide to target parts. 💃
