    Wow! I got into MHGU a bit under a year ago, it was my first MH title ever. I picked up HH as my main and have become quite good with it, however I was really curious about the weapon's history in the franchise so I wanted to look into it!
    This is very different from the Horn I know but still really interesting! Nice to be able to go on lil retrospective journeys like this!
    Long live the Bone Horn btw, still an amazing choice even in GU!

      Haha, yeah I started with MHFU but got MH4U and a 3ds for it, and MHGen when it came out, it's a great series. And yeah! If anything I think it is neat to have a little snapshot into the past :P I'm glad you think so as well, it's cool seeing what all is different, the biggest one I always bring up is how in MHF the Great Sword didn't have any charge ability, you just swung it around :P
      Thanks for watching! :) I'll try and eventually get through all the monsters, maybe you'll notice some differences, I know I had to get used to the new animations for instance going from MHFU to MH4U and onwards.

    You can also enter Recital by pressing R after any attack (except Super Pound). It will send you into the 3rd note stance and play it immediately upon entering. Great time saver for songs starting with the 3rd note aswell as comboing into Recital attacks, but it starts getting technical from there.

      It can be rough at first but stick with it and be a bit more patient than you might think you should be.
      Sometimes if you keep getting knocked down you just need to take a step back and look at things a bit differently, try just watching the monster without attacking at first if that helps.
      Stick with it, you can do it! 😄😄 It's pretty satisfying when it all clicks :P

      lol yeah that's fair. I played through the tutorials and all that when I first played, but it didn't really explain things very well in game IMO, like with the tutorial hunts and the hunting magazines, and there weren't exactly... helpful videos around, so I figured I'd make my own. Also the community is uh... heh... a bit elitist, to put it lightly, which I think is ridiculous but anyways:

    This version of HH seems much less confusing but also much worse. Glad it changed in later games.

    • @Hambs23
      @Hambs23 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      It has less moves, yes, but it doesn't have a list of songs you can play on the Equipment Screen like every other game. You need to remember the song combinations before going to the mission every time you get a weapon with a different note set, and there's a lot of different HH's. However that can be medicated with memory, and there's a point where you want to keep using the same weapon for a long time. What's not possible to be medicated is how you play them. It takes an awful lot of time to play a note, and an even longer time to play a second one because you need to attack before it. If you dodge or get knocked back, your song is gone.
      Fredom Unite's HH gameplay is basically just triangle+circle or single triangle hit then dodge for attack and try to find opportunities to use songs.
      It's boring, unconventional, and it serves more as a safe but slow weapon due to how big it's range is and the fact that it applies a lot of exhaustion on monsters.
      Tri's HH is much more fun to use, and after that it just got better and better.

    • @Someone_KhabibbeatsJonesEASILY
      @Someone_KhabibbeatsJonesEASILY 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah but it's way easier to handle and it makes a lot of damage.

      @@Hambs23 it's really not, if you're good with it you can use recital mode very often and be devastating, it just takes a bunch of time

    • @Hambs23
      @Hambs23 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sieben8724 You know what, I've been playing MH Dos recently, and while I didn't touch the HH yet, I can safely say that this weapon is completely in tone with that game. Dos is much slower paced, and much more methodical than any other MH game I've played, where even small monsters (at least at the start) are as much of a threat than the big monsters.
      If the moveset is the same as in FU, and I don't doubt it is, then it's probably more useful on Dos. Still doesn't make it any less boring, just makes more sense.
      And what you said about Recital mode, is it really better than playing the songs in a room and spamming the Super Slam? I had to use it on a Training Quest to kill a Damiyo Hermitaur once, and this method is very effective.

      Yeah it seems less damging and all, but it's still mostly respectable I think, especially with the buffs. It just takes a bit of skill I think to really make the most of it.
      The buffs can get you absurd levels of attack power, but yeah the moves can be hard to use.
      I dunno enough about the weapon to really say.

    Where to play this game

    • @HeadHunter455
      @HeadHunter455  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good question!
      *ahem*
      You can obviously buy a PSP and MHFU to play it, assuming there's still some in stock, but I highly recommend playing MHFU through PPSSPP (www.ppsspp.org/) both for ease of access as well as modern quality of life things. In order to *legally* do this, you'll need to own a copy of MHFU. PPSSPP is an emulator for PC and Android, as well as some other platforms like Mac and Linux.
      You'll need to get a rom to play through PPSSPP, this can be done by dumping your own copy of the game.
      This may be a method: digiex.net/threads/psp-how-to-rip-and-compress-your-psp-umd-games.8959/
      Or by downloading a copy from the internet. ALWAYS be careful when downloading things off of the internet from potentially sketchy sources. As the legality of emulation is messy, I don't really feel comfortable sharing any links unfortunately.
      To play in multiplayer, the go to option is Hunsterverse (hunstermonter.net/hunsterverse_new.php)
      Since the only requirement for playing multiplayer through Hunsterverse is using PPSSPP, you can play with anyone using PPSSPP, that includes people playing on Android for example.

    • @HeadHunter455
      @HeadHunter455  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think you should definitely be able to run the game with that, here's my settings if you want an example: imgur.com/a/2LoLi5z
      In my experience, PPSSPP is one of the best emulators out there, it just seems to work so well, compared to some PS1 and especially PS2 games for example.
      The only options that you should really pay much attention to are:
      The "Mode" in Rendering mode, and the rendering resolution and texture scaling/filtering. I think those would affect performance the most.
      For reference, my build is i5-8400, GTX 1060 3gb, with 16 gb of DDR4 ram, hope that helps.

I think it's the best, sort of, "pure" Monster Hunter, since Generation 1 is so rough around the edges IMO, I think Gen 2 is really the best place to go to see "Classic" Monster Hunter. Gen 1 is still amazing, but IMO it's less playable than Gen 2, I guess.

      It's pretty hard to use effectively tbh
      The most practical use, especially in 2nd gen, is to help support others. It's very good at that. Being able to do a lot of damage on top of that is when you're super comfortable and skilled with the weapon.
      Maybe give it a try in multi-player? There's some effects I know I'd be super thankful to have when I'm playing 😄

    what does mv mean?

    • @HeadHunter455
      @HeadHunter455  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Motion Value.
      Short explanation is basically the longer an attacks animation takes, the more damage it does. Generally speaking.
      Higher Motion Values will deal more damage, the way it works in calculation, again speaking simply, is it's sort of the percentage of your total damage dealt.
      So you can kinda say, like, if your weapon has 100 ATP (Attack Points) and the attack you use has 27 Motion Value, you will do 27 damage.
      There's more to the calculations than that, but that's not a terrible way to look at how it works, I think.
      If I ever get around to explaining the damage calculation, i'll go more into what do the numbers mean mason and all that
