    My acrylic / fibre glass bath tub was damaged by the top of the tap falling off into the empty bath and making a hole. Our first clue was water pouring through the lounge ceiling.... :o I applied this four nights ago and am very pleased with the results. Quick, simple, easy and effective. No more leak :) No way to know at this point how long it will last, but we've used the bath 5 times since and great so far.

    Thanks for the demo. While the instructions said to knead putty to a uniform color, the outer layer and inner core colors didn't jump out at me as being much different. In fact, I didn't even notice a difference, so I did not mix it well enough in attempt #1. Was curious how to trigger the chemical reaction, but thought: Maybe these guys have created an easier epoxy. My curiosity turned to frustration after 2 hours and now hardening. Saw this video, kneaded under a bright light, and hope that attempt 2 hardens as advertised.

  • @3345646
    @3345646 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This time I mashed it well with a fork Before applying it . It hardened up as advertised. When the directions says mix to a uniform color that means the inner core and outer core mix and create a slightly different color.

    I used some to seal around a window air conditioner unit on the bottom where the overlap seal was failed and it worked great. I did rough up and clean, then applied to the dry surface, then waited several hours for it to cure. It did cure in one hour. After several hours, it should be like a rock, this stuff has to be mixed or kneaded well first or don't waste your time using this product as it has to mix well to work.

    all epoxy products have their limitations. For pipes, all the box stores and some automotive stores sell a fiber wrap that is tape like infused with resin substance. once applied it dries rock hard sealing cracks.jb weld on other hand works great on SANDED metal surfaces that stay dry from gasoline or chemicals. the water weld works great on jon boat rivets but has its limitations on cracks due to flexing. There are a number of new boat epoxys on the market now that are waterproof and flexible. I have used in weld on several different applications and found that patching pin holes, small weld like projects etc. it worked very well.

Cut amount with knife and mixed by hand with gloves on. Packed into holes remounted transducer bracket and applied more JB in one hour it is rock hard. I have an old bathtub faucet that developed a small knick in the valve stem about 1mm x 1mm (the tube that the washer engages with), so leaky faucet. The only permanent solution is replacing the faucet, but I was able to put that off for a few years by jamming waterweld in the knick (prep it, clean it, of course).

    I also use JB KWIK to bond a Savage 10 round magazine box to the Savage Axis magazine base. I cut a hole in the Axis base, line up the two haves and apply the KWIK weld. I end up with 11 rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber.

    I had a few problems with this. When I first unwrapped it, it felt as hard as a rock on the outside, I don't remember this the last time I used it, or something very similar, years ago. I thought it would loosen up as I mixed it, so I cut some off. It didn't! I had a a pile of rock hard bits and some gooey mess.
    I phoned the company, they were helpful, checked the date, it was made last year, so it should be OK. They told me to microwave the tube for 10 seconds. I did and it became pliable. However, the central part, the resin ? and the outer part, the hardener? are the same colour! So you can't tell when it's properly mixed. I mixed it until I thought it was fully mixed and then used it on the repair.
    It wasn't mixed enough as some parts hardened right up, and others didn't. I picked out all the soft bits, took a while.
    I bought a different product at Home Depot for less money for a tube twice the size. This one had different colours, and I knew right away that I hadn't mixed the JB stuff enough, it took quite a while to get an even colour, but now, it's all rock hard.

      He may as well of licked the his finger because it says right on the package to wear non permeable gloves when mixing with your fingers. So lets not read the package and make it even wetter with spit so it gets into the pores of your skin easier.

      Genuine Artifacts actually used this and it’s harder to use it with gloves. Also tried using it with damp hands and it’s definitely better, and it won’t stick on your skin as well.

      I posted the link to the product in the top comment. If you ever watch any of my videos in the future I always pin the products in the top comment or in the about section. You'll see "Shop This Video" JB water weld can withstand up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. It'll be fine. Just make sure to prep the surface and clean it with rubbing alcohol before applying the puddy.

    I used it on a turn-off valve in my basement that was leaking water.. used half a package and it still leaked, turned the water to the house off completely, put the rest of it on the leak parts .. waited a couple hours, it was hard as a rock.. but still leaked when I turned on the water. Went and used another whole stick of it, completely covering the shut off valve up to the pipe... and.. it still leaks. So, all that --- about it curing under water.. I say BS! Also, it warns not to get in eyes and on skin but it does not tell you to make sure you wear gloves when touching it!!!

    At 4 minutes and 22 seconds when you put the J-B on the repair spots you could have done that at the beginning and said you had 20 hours of water test. You should put on another video if it's still holding up would last months or years or 20 hours and one minute that's the interest of the video at least that was my interest, the quality of the product

    instead of spitting on your fingers to smooth out just put a little bit of baby oil or vaseline on your finger you are using to smooth it with...this does 2 things...obviously it makes it really easy to smooth so there is much less finishing work after it dries...but it also makes it so what you are spreading/smoothing does not stick to your fingers and will wipe right off very quickly and easily...this works with silicone, caulk and yes...even the dreaded spray foam...guarantee that if u try it you will always keep some around...its night and day...if you put some on your finger when you are done smoothing you could even pick up a leaf from the ground and use it to wipe off your finger and it all will come off easily

    I would recommend something else for an aluminum boat because the product is like a rock and has no flex, boats flex and aluminum boats flex and expand and contract alot so the fix would fail soon after being completed.
