  • Here I do a cure test of JB Waterweld. It should start drying in a few hours and be totally dry in 12-24 hours. If it's not drying it could be that it wasn't mixed up enough or there could be something wrong with it.

Some years back, I got a small hole in my radiator (metal part). Found this stuff and patched that hole. Drove like that for another 5 years before deciding to upgrade the radiator. Also fixed a crack in my oil pan. Good stuff.

I'm just using it to build up a waterproof seal between two rocks as part of a large tabletop fountain. I've also used JB products in my wood craft projects.

Thanks for the instruction. Patience means everything. So many were complaining that it didn't cure and this video addresses that issue.

Found this video right after I just used it. I wanted to note that when I was mixing mine up really well, I noticed the putty getting really warm. I wonder if its a chemical reaction or just heat from the friction of mashing it together very wel.

Indeed it is, that's an exothermic reaction of the bonding agents.

so what are we then to conclude that after mixing significant slices of the tube and then it doesn't get hot? That maybe, um, by golly, there's wildly inconsistent flaws in the product?

Don’t you supposed to add a little water to it when you pressed mix with your fingers??

Thank you. I knew about the need to mix, but this really shows that I need to be sure to mix thoroughly.
    Good job on your vid.

Thank you! I hope it was helpful. I used it to patch a hole I accidentally drilled in a plastic drain pipe. You can see that video here if you’re interested: How to Fix Hole in PVC Drain Pipe with JB Water Weld

infuriating excuse making for this grotesquely overpriced "waterweld." ($9 at Lowes C'ville) I had two straight fails, of it not getting hard after several hours, after kneeding a "slice" thoroughly, then applying the "putty" to a (perfectly dry, well prepped small hole in a brass pipe).... where does it say to wait 24 hours to be fully cured? The product literature directly indicates it would be just an hour.... but instead, still more soft putty, showing now signs of getting "hard" or sealing anything. As for "mixing well," I sure as .... h*lll did that twice.... Idiotic to think that we're to go to the center of the $9 stick to find a few slices that just "might" (or might not) mix right.... what a waste of time and $. Product does not deserve to have you making excuses for it.

My guess is your prep work needs to be more. More sanding more cleaning etc. JB Waterweld needs a few days to cure and your prep work needs to 100%. It is by no means a replacement for original JB Weld when a fix is substantial. If it’s get wet prior to full cure it will never cure. The one hour cure is bullshit*

This stuff is garbage. Wouldn’t seal a leak on a hose reel 60psi and yes it was rock hard
