@@wariolandgoldpiramid Well it can't be grunty's revenge or banjo pilot as those aren't on Xbox. Then we can assume they're not talking about nuts and bolts as it's a garbage banjo-kazooie game. So it limits it to two games. Banjo kazooie and banjo tooie. I make the assumption that they're talking about the first game as all the games are the banjo-kazooie series. However either one of the first two games is great to replay.

He kinda made me realise how much I overrated it. The jiggies there, should instead have been standalone puzzles which would give the hub a lot more purpose. The place is too much of a chore to trek through when there's nothing to do except find Cheato. Why find switches in levels when you're already there to find stuff anyway?
Cauldron Keep was going to be a full 10 Jiggy world, that's why Tooie has 90 Jiggies. They cut it to get Tooie out in time for Christmas. You can search online for the original Cauldron Keep design docs, of which we have about 3 pages of

Fantastic video as always man. I really enjoyed your list and everything you had to say about all the worlds. Some of my personal favorites are Glitter Gulch Mine, Click Clock Wood, Cliff Farm, Jolly Rogers Lagoon and Breegull Beach. You really can’t do wrong with most of the worlds in the series. Despite not playing nuts and bolts, I do think Showdown Town is a pretty nice hub world from everything I’ve heard about it. Either way you say it, the Banjo Kazooie series has some fantastic level design an amazing worlds. That much we all can agree on!
I'm open for more ranking lists. Maybe next time you can do a ranking of all the bosses in the Banjo-Kazooie series. Or maybe a ranking of the main characters, the collectibles, etc.
Can I point out that the people that Love Isle ol' hags (sorry I probably spelt that wrong) say that it's fun to explore but then also proceeded to warp EVERYWHERE. No disrespect
I'm actually impressed that your reasoning were really thought out and honestly pretty convincing. Most of the other top lists from the series I've seen aren't that great cause their reasonings were kinda petty for the most part but yours are well thought out. Honestly Click Click Wood is my favorite level because I played it when I was like 12 or 13 years old when the game came out so its probably mostly nostalgia but the season aspect really clicked with me. Will agree with the number 1. As a huge fan of snow and that aesthetic I really love how the level is designed. Really amazing that so many levels in the original game are so well done. Hopefully they add Tooie to NSO soon so I can play through that game again. Only got to play it once a long time ago and I'd kill to be able to play it again
I highly disagree with a lot of stuff you say here (especially the N&B levels, I think most of them are great) but i respect your opinions, also your constant Tooie praise warms my heart since it gets unfairly shit on nowadays imo
Got to finally play Banjo Kazooie in full for the first time this year thanks to it coming to NSO and....it's easily become one of my favorite games of all time. I've played it like 4 times and desperately want to do a fifth but I'm trying to hold off so I don't burn out on it or something x3 I've only played the first game so if I had to choose the worst level....I'd probably go Click Clock Woods. I know most people say Rusty Bucket bay but....Rusty Bucket really just has one REALLY TERRIBLE room. Click Clock has FOUR level variations you all have to climb really high for and can easily fall from constantly. For best?....that's hard for me and the first game. I might give it to Mumbo's mountain as I think it's right up there with Bob-bomb battlefield as a fantastic intro level. I could also give it to Freezey Peak, due to how amazingly it goes with its aesthetics with the winter/Christmas theme.
Glad you got to enjoy the game, I hope you have or will be able to play Tooie since its a great follow up. Also while the game is controversial, if you ever get the chance Nuts and Bolts is worth a try. Its a game that I believe if you go in with an open mind you'll be able to have fun with
@@dogecoin9562 I agree with that. Nuts and Bolts is honestly a good game, I love the fact that you can make pretty much anything to solve challenges or just to goof around with. Like for example I remember a couple years ago I attempted to make a cannon that launches Banjo in far distances.
@@ZeldaMasterLogan if you wanna see some real wacky stuff that you can do in N&B, look up thesupersnes on TH-cam. He has some really cool challenge runs and comes up with some crazy designs that really shouldn't work but do
I have been obsessed with Banjo since I first played it back in the 1990s. I can get behind a lot of what you said. I may disagree slightly on rankings but not a ton. The only ones I felt strong about was I’d swap Bubblegloop and Mumbos Mountain rankings for sure.
Everything you said was correct except for Click Clock Woods!! Also, I never noticed how much I disliked the Gruntilda’s lair in part 1 until you pointed it out. It’s very tedious to get around and even confusing
Nice list, I never really got around making a full list myself, so hey, might as well post what I pulled off myself in a few minutes. I'll only put in BK and BT because I didn't play Grunty's Revenge and I don't feel comfortable comparing the N&B levels to the N64 ones as the gameplay is so different in that game. I also kinda skipped the hub worlds, but they both would be around the middle of the list. I actually like Grunty's Lair more than Isle O'Hags though I can't really tell you why. I think it's got to do with the creepy cave setting. -- D TIER -- 17) Cloud Cuckooland -- C TIER -- 16) Click Clock Wood 15) Clanker's Cavern 14) Terrydactyland -- B TIER -- 13) Glitter Gulch Mine 12) Hailfire Peaks 11) Freezeezy Peak 10) Bubblegloop Swamp 9) Mumbo's Mountain 8) Mayahem Temple -- A TIER -- 7) Gobi's Valley 6) Mad Monster Mansion 5) Witchyworld -- S TIER -- 4) Treasure Trove Cove 3) Rusty Bucket Bay 2) Grunty Industries 1) Jolly Roger Lagoon C tier is probably the one that I had the hardest time ordering. There's also a pretty big gap between C and D, as Cloud Cuckooland is the only level in both games I completely dislike.
I remember falling to my death in Rusty Bucket Bay twice, after that I made sure not to fall in the bottomless pits again. Speaking of which, I would always get nervous swimming in the water. I have fond memories of playing Freezy Peak on Thanksgiving as a kid.
I just finished replaying the three console games a couple days ago, so let's see if I can break off a complete ranking of those games' levels myself: 30. Cauldron Keep 29. Mad Monster Mansion 28. Grunty Industries 27. Glitter Gulch Mine 26. Rusty Bucket Bay 25. Hailfire Peaks 24. Test-o-Track 23. Witchyworld 22. Spiral Mountain (Banjo-Tooie) 21. Gobi's Valley 20. Cloud Cuckooland 19. Spiral Mountain (Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts) 18. Isle O'Hags 17. Spiral Mountain (Banjo-Kazooie) 16. Mayahem Temple 15. LOGBOX 720 14. Jiggoseum 13. Bubblegloop Swamp 12. Gruntilda's Lair 11. Mumbo's Mountain 10. Banjoland 9. Treasure Trove Cove 8. Clanker's Cavern 7. Terrydactyland 6. Jolly Roger's Lagoon 5. Freezeezy Peak 4. Showdown Town 3. Terrarium of Terror 2. Nutty Acres 1. Click Clock Wood Looking at the fully-assembled thing, it definitely clearly reflects what I already knew about my preferences between the three games (Nuts & Bolts is confidently my favorite, Tooie confidently my least), but even more than that I'm happily struck to find that I like almost all of these levels other than Mad Monster Mansion and Cauldron Keep. Those top two, though, I love especially intensely, with CCW in particular sticking out to me as probably the most brilliant 3D platformer world in the genre imo.
I'd like to hear why you dislike Mad Monster Mansion. It's one of my favorites, with Clock Wood being my second to last pick from the first game, right after Rusty Bucket Bay
I have seen a lot of centent creators over the years crap all over Tooie for either being "too big" or not being Kazooie, so it's nice to finally see someone give it a fair shake.
My favorite are Rusty Bucket Bay and Grunty Industries. I like industrial levels in videogame because I like machinery/pistons/conveyor as a platform, avoid pollution, turn on/off machines and the dangerous atmosphere they have.
One of my big gripes with Nuts and Bolts is how few characters they are. You’d expect new characters but instead you have the cast acting as if it were a play in the area. You’d expect new characters that fit the area and give it more life. I feel like an issue with bigger levels these days is balancing out how many NPCs you put in the area to give it more life.
For me. Top 3 Mad Monster Mansion (it is the one level in BK1 that always seems fresh to me on a play through) 2 Gruntildas Lair (the feeling of unlocking a note door always feels amazing and I still get a feeling there is a new note door that might appear somewhere) 1. Click Clock Wood (I love that spiraling climb upwards, the music, and the seasonal storytelling) Bottom 3 Freeze Easy Peak (Those snow men and ice cubes are so frustrating, although i love the collectables along the giant snow mans scalf) 2 Isle O Hags (I wanted to enjoy it but it felt like so much wasted space and didnt do a good job of differentiating the worlds) 1 Cloud Cuccoo Land (It felt too out of place to me, It took a lot of the platforming joy away)
I cannot fathom how your subscription count is under 500k. Your videos are great - informative, interesting, well-written, show relevant footage, non-obnoxious, no meme-content every ten seconds. I just finished all your Banjo-related videos (I grew up with the n64 Banjo games) - and was just blown away by how well your videos did at highlighting all the interesting and noteworthy aspects. Thank you 🙏
Nice top. I think my favorite world is Click Clock Wood. Also I would step up Rusty Bucket Bay and Hailfire Peak, and step down Cloud Cuckooland and Jolly Roger's.
The first time I played Nuts and Bolts I didn't knew you could change vehicles in the world maps (Only used my cars in challenges) It made me enjoy the game a lot and feel the game as a weird platformer game, I recommend that.
Yup! Freezeezy Peak and Treasure Trove Cove were also my top two! Witchyworld is my #3, gosh wrecking everything as a money van was so much fun! Great vid! Edit: Going back to that last point, I suppose the only criticism I would have is you not talking about the transformations! You mentioned the crocodile but let's be real, all transformations in the first game were lame. There is hardly any mention of Humba Wumba's magic though, which made Tooie so much more fun.
Great video, a lot of work went into it I am sure! Not too surprised by most choices. Mad Monster Mansion is a gem of a level. I probably would have rated spiral mountain (BK) a lot higher just from pure nostalia. And Treasure Trove Cove certainly ranks higher for me than Freezeezy - simply because theres so much to explore and no annoying ice or cold, its a very pleasent level (with some neat secrets and areas to explore - I always like any level with a large upwards climb). But I think any level with a large amount of ice or poison liquids around will always frustrate me. It just 'gets in the way' and makes for stressful gaming. (altho the crocodile transformation in BG Swamp is one of my favourites of all the games, as the poison water doesnt hurt anymore and also very much because of the crunch-crunch-crunch bite it has XD). I knew Clankers Cavern would score low as well, even just watching some of that footage gives me PTSD, the stress of that level oml...
I've only ever played Banjo-Kazooie but 29, the level inside the game system has to be one of the most creative level ideas ive ever seen! wow.. but then again ive always loved the "honey i shrunk the kids/toy story" esque levels in video games. Id rate Gobi's Valley & Clankers Cavern higher. I've always found the latter to be scarier/creepier than Monster Mansion.
Unpopular opinion is that I actually love Rusty Bucket Bay, mostly just because I love simple but tricky challenges. I love how Rusty Bucket Bay feels intimidating without directly rubbing its fury in your face, it's such an unassuming old ship in a dock, yet the place is filthy and dangerous as you explore the place. I also like the uncommon industrial theme, not being a generic factory, but rather a ship on a dock with polluted water as a hazard.
one thing we have to keep in mind when ranking Banjo-kazooie worlds specifically is: back in the day on N64, as opposed to the Xbox version, the game only saved your "high score" of collected notes, in other words, if you leave the world or di3 without collecting all 100 notes, you'd have to reenter the world and start collecting all notes again, so Clickclock woods is for me the most frustrating level, as falling from the higher platforms resulted in a total reset of collecting notes, and keep in mind you had to climb the whole level in all four seasons in a single run
Truth is I only got 1/2 way through N’nB so I’m less able to judge those levels, but I largely agree with maybe a bit more grunty’s revenge love over N’nB with GI having a bit more of a nostalgia boost for me and TTC having the opposite I think your list is solid I wish you would have counted grunty’s furnace fun and substitute lead up and final boss battle as it’s own section maybe grunty’s lair Part II.
Dude. I’ve talked about Banjo Kazooie levels at length with my friends and you are the only person who has the exact same #1 and #2 as me. I also agree that Freezeezy and Treasure Trove are basically interchangeable for those slots. If I was being objective I’d say Treasure Trove is probably the better level overall, but Freezeezy gets massive points for the charm and atmosphere.
totally agree with the number 1 pick. i remember trying every year growing up to time my in-game progress with those two holiday theme levels, and even when i'd hit one any other time of year they still hit the same 😊
Yo 29? LOGBOX is basically perfect for me. I LOVE both cramped spaces and vertical stuff, and it's a perfect combo of this. This also applies to Terrarium of Terror, I love it. Beatiful feel, music, aesthetic and layout. Also Click Clock Wood. Best level ever
Rusty Bucket Bay is my absolute favorite! I usually enjoy a level based entirely on its visual theme and given that I absolute adore portsides and harbor aswell as Industrial sites, its easily my #1. In 2nd place comes Grunty Industries for the same reasons plus I love how massive it is.
While they are much better than given credit for they don't beat Freezeezy Peak. And that's coming from someone who isn't even very keen on Christmas. It's just a brilliant level.
Cool video with some good points. Would be nice in future videos if you threw in a small sample of the levels music without talking overtop, especially when directly addressing the music of a level. There were a few times I either couldn't remember the music or in the case of Grunty Revenge, never played it.
I've never played Nuts and Bolts so I don't have an opinion on those levels. I love Cloud Cuckooland, but I think I can't see past the incredibly awful design of the Canary Mary race. Because I want to get every Jiggy possible when I play, I wind up rage quitting every single time because I can't beat her no matter what I do. I also used to rank Bubblegloop Swamp way lower because of the minigame with Mr. Vile is super annoying. I'd probably say Mad Monster Mansion is my favorite level, followed closely by Terrydactyland.
Same here, Cloud Cuckooland is probably one of my favorite levels. I used to struggle with Canary Mary, but after years of practice I can easily beat her now. I'm also with you on Terrydactyland, it's another one of my favorite Tooie levels, I'm a sucker for the dinosaur/prehistoric theme. Every time I come across a video ranking worlds in Tooie, it always seems like Terrydactyland is in the bottom 3, I've never understood that since I think it's an awesome level. Mad Monster Mansion is one of my favorite levels from Kazooie, being surpassed only by Click Clock Wood itself. Also if you don't mind me saying so, you're really beautiful.
I'm sorry but if you struggle with getting the JIGGY on Canary Mary then you're just bad at mashing, I can understand having a hard time with the Cheato page because that race is much longer and does require pretty good mashing but the race for the jiggy is so short, it's over in about 20 seconds and doesn't even require very good mashing. You know you can pause during the races, right?
@@tessaPMpro There's a botched slingshot mechanism in Cloud Cuckooland and it's a very common issue people have. It has absolutely nothing to do with not mashing the button well enough. I hope your day gets better and you choose to be kinder in the future! 😊
@@sarahhorwath2449 you don't think I don't already know this? I'm fully aware of Canary Mary's rubberband AI but you can still win just by mashing as fast as possible ESPECIALLY in the first race so my point still stands that if you habe trouble with the first race then you are just bad at mashing. You don't have to cheese the rubberband AI to win, you can win just by mashing as fast as possible, that's what I have always done and it works every time, I have still never lost to Canary Mary in any of the races over the several playthroughs I have done of this game.
@@tessaPMpro Man you just really want to highlight your apparent superiority I guess. I am by far not the only person having issues with Cloud Cuckooland, as evidenced by the numerous posts about it across multiple platforms. Please touch grass and have the day you deserve!
Favorite level from BK: Freezeezy Peak Least favorite from BK: Bubblegloop Swamp Favorite level from BT: Witchyworld Least favorite from BT: Hailfire Peaks (I know 😬)
Ok, I made it to the Grass Level from Grunty's Revenge, and then thought, "I wouldn't be surprised if the final level from Banjo Tooie came next." Then, wadda you know, Cauldron Keep.
By the way, many don't know that the hailfire peaks music combined sounds twice as good as one of the 2 songs. If you read this, you should really try to listen to it combined sometime.
12:28 this is so counter intuitive I can’t even understand what you mean by “into the distance” and climbing not clearly showing how far you’ve traveled 😂
My top 10 Kazooie + Tooie levels: 1. Hailfire Peaks / Tooie (love the combination of fire + ice worlds in one level, and the dragons were cool and scary to fight, like seeing the return of the aliens) 2. Click Clock Wood / Kazooie (love the four seasons mechanic, the music, Eyrie the Eagle, and trying to find Mumbo's season where he can transform you instead of being on vacation) 3. Mad Monster Mansion / Kazooie 4. Cloud Cuckooland / Tooie 5. Grunty Industries / Tooie 6. Jolly Roger's Lagoon / Tooie 7. Witchyworld / Tooie 8. Mayahem Temple / Tooie 9. Glitter Gulch Mine / Tooie 10. Bubblegloop Swamp / Kazooie
I've never played Nuts and Bolts or Grunty's Revenge, so I can't really say what I think of those games. I've played both Tooie and Kazooie, and while I like both, I like Tooie just slightly better due to the harder challenges. As for my favorite levels in Tooie, its hard to decide, but would probably be Terrydactyland, Grunty Industries, Hailfire Peaks or Cloud Cuckooland. My favorite level in Kazooie is easier to decide, being Click Clock Wood hands down, followed closely behind by Mad Monster Mansion. Even though I disagree with you on Rusty Bucket Bay, I respect your opinion. I actually like that levels music, and honestly after I'm done with all that engine room stuff the rest of the level is a breeze.
At first I was going to complain about the HIGH placement of Cloud Cuckooland. Then you seemed to talk me off the ledge with your explanation. I never cared for it as it was just soo difficult for me. Still too high(imo), but the rest of the list is on point.
I think the reason Terrydactyland feels so big an empty, and this is just a theory, is that it was designed with the Daddy T-Rex form in mind. When you’re in that form the level feels ‘normal sized’ which is cool but exploring it as Banjo and Kazooie just makes it seem big and empty.
I'd love to see a DK64 level ranking given the game has a lot of charm like BK but is designed around 5 characters and I've found that each level plays so much differently with how they balance them like creepy castles more linear level and then frantic factories almost maze like and vertical design. So it would be awesome to see how they all compare to each other! Especially with DK64's retrospectives to not be as bad as they used to be
Massively disagree with your take on Grunty's Lair (The charm and personality, music, sense of mystery, the system of exploration, and the level progression system all make me genuinely champion the lair as the most iconic and well put together hub world in gaming history) but I do respect and appreciate your list nonetheless. I really love that you give Showdown Town the appreciation that it deserves, (super underrated imo) and give Grunty's Revenge levels a worthy place in the conversation. I would also agree with Treasure Trove Cove and Freezeezy Peak being somewhere in the top 3 - their designs are a true gift to the platforming genre. These games mean so much to all of us so thank you for making videos like this to highlight and discuss such a beloved series.
I was surprised by Terrydactyl Land, but that's just my bias toward dinos talking, probably. Also, the music from Rusty Bucket Bay is some of my favorite from Banjo Kazooie. I like Bubblegloop Swamp, but it has one of the same problems that Rusty Bucket Bay has, the majority of the world is impossible to traverse in. I know it's meant to make the boots important, but it just gets tiring if you spend a lot of time there.
i loved all your retrospectives and i could obviously tell by them that Tooie was your favorite game, as is mine, but this list seems all over the place though. I love your content and this is your opinion, agree to disagree i guess. Keep the Banjo content coming regardless 🐻 🦜
It was definitely tough putting this list together, I was changing level placements right up through the entirety of writing the script. So that might explain that inconsistency. I'm sure in a year from now I'm probably gonna disagree with a lot of these placements myself
This is going to sound really weird but I just played through BK in full for the first time at 33 years old. Just finished it a few days ago 100% in 23 hours 36 minutes. I remember my friends playing it when I was a kid but I never saw them get past clankers cavern so I never thought much about it. Not saying they never did I just didn’t see it. But then when Tooie came out I got that for Christmas and played that endlessly. Never really had the nostalgia around Kazooie but around last Christmas I was in a Nintendo store and said fuck it, bought it for 50 bucks. Best 50 I ever spent. Fantastic game. Not that I was surprised. I loved Tooie so loving Kazooie didn’t take much. My favourite is definitely CCW in Kazooie. After that I’d say FP and TTC are close to tied. I liked clankers and MMM, didn’t like GV or BGS that much RBB was hard Ngl, but as an adult who had already put countless hours into gaming and Tooie I wasn’t stuck on it forever. As a kid it probably would’ve made me quit gaming though lol.
I agree on the Terrarium of Terrors although I liked it quite a bit. But the verticality is awful, the sail vehicle mission is just plain shit, the flower in the center is annoying to climb and I have fallen off that way to often. It is also the reason any vehicle in the end I built needed to have propellers and foldable wings.
I actually had a nightmare about Rusty bucket bay as a child. A bunch of monkeys had me tied to a chair while they paraded around the ship playing the stages theme music, forcing me to watch.
what?
That’s horrifying lol😮
Lmao….agreed with the previous comment. That is legitimately horrifying.
This is the hardest I have laughed in days
I sometimes have them to this day. The recurring nightmare is the one where it's just RBB, but i can hear the snacker theme from TTC

Grunty industries rocks
We know this already, but on Rusty Rocket Bay you're own your own. There's no Mumbo or Bottles to help you in the level.
RBB has a super nice skybox, amazing music, amazing verticality, and a mix of jiggy difficulty.
The music of the Rusty Bucket engine room is one one of my favorites
I would place them both at a point well after industrial revolution, and even beyond peak industrial output. They are like the slowly crumbling investments of a once-great industrialist who was unwilling to modernize her businesses.

which game? this video is about all 4 games, and you didn't clarify :P

Wow. You made me realize how much I love Grunty’s Lair.
You can search online for the original Cauldron Keep design docs, of which we have about 3 pages of
That's really cool, I actually didn't know that! Would've been really interesting to see those initial plans fully realized
@@CloudConnection yea it was a full fledged out world, but due to time constraints/the game was already large enough. it was cut. like the OP said the design docs were so cool. if we ever get a remake, i hope we get the scrapped ideals.
@@chrisbeach423Either that or the modding tools for Tooie get developed well enough for a fan made version…lookin at you Mark Kurko…

I have personally addressed Mark concerning the state of Tooie mods and he emphatically told me that while he likes working on BK mods, that he has neither the patience or background to get BT mods up and running.
Something about Tooie's engine is so cobbled together that there hasn't really been headway on creating an editor or the like for it.
I just knew Freezeezy Peak and Treasure Trove Cove had to be top two. They are perfect
Rusty bucket bay theme actually kinda goes hard I think
Your opinion on Rusty Bucket Bay is EXACTLY how i feel about it! Hated it but came to appreciate it. Like a teacher that's hard on you. It was just preparing you for later
Top levels for me are 1. Click Clock Wood. 2. Hairfire peaks 3. Grunties industries. Mainly because I really love the theme of each.
CCW is also my favorite of all
Yeah cause Grunty Industries is a total nightmare the first time. But I agree the music slaps lol

1:44 Banjo hit that A-pose
Another fantastic video! I love Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie, but have never played the other games. Thanks for the upload!
Can I point out that the people that Love Isle ol' hags (sorry I probably spelt that wrong) say that it's fun to explore but then also proceeded to warp EVERYWHERE. No disrespect
Fun to explore does not equal fun to traverse.
I really hope they add it to NSO soon so I can play it again. Only got to play it one time but I do remember really enjoying it
Got to finally play Banjo Kazooie in full for the first time this year thanks to it coming to NSO and....it's easily become one of my favorite games of all time. I've played it like 4 times and desperately want to do a fifth but I'm trying to hold off so I don't burn out on it or something x3
I've only played the first game so if I had to choose the worst level....I'd probably go Click Clock Woods.
He has some really cool challenge runs and comes up with some crazy designs that really shouldn't work but do
Hopefully they add Tooie to NSO soon so that'll be there with the original game
Really enjoyed this video! I was anticipating and trying to guess what your #1 would be and I wound up being right. Great list and points!
Banjo simply means so much to me! Appreciate this man!

C tier is probably the one that I had the hardest time ordering.
I just finished replaying the three console games a couple days ago, so let's see if I can break off a complete ranking of those games' levels myself:
30. Cauldron Keep
29. Mad Monster Mansion
28. Grunty Industries
27. Glitter Gulch Mine
26. Rusty Bucket Bay
25. Hailfire Peaks
24. Test-o-Track

7. Terrydactyland
6. Jolly Roger's Lagoon
5. Freezeezy Peak
4. Showdown Town
3. Terrarium of Terror
2. Nutty Acres
1. Click Clock Wood
Looking at the fully-assembled thing, it definitely clearly reflects what I already knew about my preferences between the three games (Nuts & Bolts is confidently my favorite, Tooie confidently my least), but even more than that I'm happily struck to find that I like almost all of these levels other than Mad Monster Mansion and Cauldron Keep.
Can you point me to those videos. I can't find them.
Haven’t finished the video yet but my favorite is Hailfire Peaks purely because the music slaps beyond reason
My favorite are Rusty Bucket Bay and Grunty Industries. I like industrial levels in videogame because I like machinery/pistons/conveyor as a platform, avoid pollution, turn on/off machines and the dangerous atmosphere they have.
Clanker's Cavern is also a great rustic level where you swim a lot, maybe that's why many people dislike it!!!
Unpopular opinion: I prefer tooie over kazooie. 😬
I personally couldn’t get into it but I can see why you love it. It might not be a game for everyone but that’s ok. I’m glad you like it
I agree
That is a very popular opinion.
13:35 I would like to add that even tho Nuts and Bolts is… Nuts and Bolts, I really love how the song has a very nostalgic vibe.
For me.
Top
3 Mad Monster Mansion (it is the one level in BK1 that always seems fresh to me on a play through)
2 Gruntildas Lair (the feeling of unlocking a note door always feels amazing and I still get a feeling there is a new note door that might appear somewhere)
1. Click Clock Wood (I love that spiraling climb upwards, the music, and the seasonal storytelling)
Bottom
3 Freeze Easy Peak (Those snow men and ice cubes are so frustrating, although i love the collectables along the giant snow mans scalf)
2 Isle O Hags (I wanted to enjoy it but it felt like so much wasted space and didnt do a good job of differentiating the worlds)
1 Cloud Cuccoo Land (It felt too out of place to me, It took a lot of the platforming joy away)
Grunty's Revenge is lowkey an underrated game
20:33 when i was younger i didn't know what those purple guys were but because of how they approach you i used to call them molesters
Wow great vid man, new sub!
one thing we have to keep in mind when ranking Banjo-kazooie worlds specifically is: back in the day on N64, as opposed to the Xbox version, the game only saved your "high score" of collected notes, in other words, if you leave the world or di3 without collecting all 100 notes, you'd have to reenter the world and start collecting all notes again, so Clickclock woods is for me the most frustrating level, as falling from the higher platforms resulted in a total reset of collecting notes, and keep in mind you had to climb the whole level in all four seasons in a single run
Good video! Most of these are fair opinions. Grunty's Lair.. well.. we all make mistakes. Great choice of top two!
My favorite game series of all time ❤️ I have these games (besides GR) practically memorized and I still love running through them
Nice video, love it!
totally agree with the number 1 pick. i remember trying every year growing up to time my in-game progress with those two holiday theme levels, and even when i'd hit one any other time of year they still hit the same 😊
Didn't realise I wasn't subscribed to you. Just fixed that. Can never get enough B-K content.
I still have Tooie for my N64. Love it so much and kazooie as well
Cool video with some good points. Would be nice in future videos if you threw in a small sample of the levels music without talking overtop, especially when directly addressing the music of a level. There were a few times I either couldn't remember the music or in the case of Grunty Revenge, never played it.
Heresy! Click Clock Woods is the best.
I hope you got whatever self satisfaction you were looking for in this interaction because you're aggressive and I'm not going to continue to let you berate me over a children's video game lmao. Please touch grass and have the day you deserve!

Least favorite from BK: Bubblegloop Swamp
Favorite level from BT: Witchyworld
Least favorite from BT: Hailfire Peaks (I know 😬)
Ok, I made it to the Grass Level from Grunty's Revenge, and then thought, "I wouldn't be surprised if the final level from Banjo Tooie came next." Then, wadda you know, Cauldron Keep.
By the way, many don't know that the hailfire peaks music combined sounds twice as good as one of the 2 songs. If you read this, you should really try to listen to it combined sometime.
Holy feck you're right it's really a banger
31:53 heh, “note for note.”
12:28 this is so counter intuitive I can’t even understand what you mean by “into the distance” and climbing not clearly showing how far you’ve traveled 😂
I got every jiggy in the game except for Rusty bucket Bay propeller, took me 10 years to get it
I gotta shout out the music in Spiller’s Harbour. Probably my fav track in Grunty’s Revenge
I freaking love Grunty Inc. 💕 One of my fav worlds overall 😄
It's so satisfying watching this video again but after i completed all game.
My top 10 Kazooie + Tooie levels:
1. Hailfire Peaks / Tooie (love the combination of fire + ice worlds in one level, and the dragons were cool and scary to fight, like seeing the return of the aliens)
2. Click Clock Wood / Kazooie (love the four seasons mechanic, the music, Eyrie the Eagle, and trying to find Mumbo's season where he can transform you instead of being on vacation)
3. Mad Monster Mansion / Kazooie
4. Cloud Cuckooland / Tooie
5. Grunty Industries / Tooie
6. Jolly Roger's Lagoon / Tooie
7. Witchyworld / Tooie
8. Mayahem Temple / Tooie
9. Glitter Gulch Mine / Tooie
10. Bubblegloop Swamp / Kazooie
Got around to play the 1st Banjo-Kazooie, and Rusty Bucket Bay is a platformer's nightmare!!
Rusty bucket bay is actually my favourite! I don't get why people hate it
At first I was going to complain about the HIGH placement of Cloud Cuckooland. Then you seemed to talk me off the ledge with your explanation. I never cared for it as it was just soo difficult for me. Still too high(imo), but the rest of the list is on point.
I get the placement of showdown town. It feels like there was a lot of love and care put in it
Your Banjo videos are the best!!🙌🙌
Unpopular opinion: large stages is one if my favorite aspects of tooie, and what makes it one of the top platformers.
o yes, this was the video that prompted me to replay all the games and make my own list 🤣
Shud be up soonish
I still have a nintendo 64 and i finish the game except for rusty bucket bay. I was missing like 5 note
I think the reason Terrydactyland feels so big an empty, and this is just a theory, is that it was designed with the Daddy T-Rex form in mind.
When you’re in that form the level feels ‘normal sized’ which is cool but exploring it as Banjo and Kazooie just makes it seem big and empty.
good video man
I'd love to see a DK64 level ranking given the game has a lot of charm like BK but is designed around 5 characters and I've found that each level plays so much differently with how they balance them like creepy castles more linear level and then frantic factories almost maze like and vertical design. So it would be awesome to see how they all compare to each other! Especially with DK64's retrospectives to not be as bad as they used to be
1. Fungi Forest
2. Creepy Castle
3. Frantic Factory
4. Jungle Japes
5. Angry Aztec
6. Crystal Caves
7. Gloomy Galleon
That’s how I would rank them
"These levels are stupid, I said I wanted to see the best levels! You're stupid!"
Witchyworld is my #1 all time favorite level.
Did you just call Click Clock Wood mid
i love picking my favorite at the first and watching in anticipation esp when i picked freezeezy PEAK
Cloud cuckooland is Tooie, not Kazooie? Very nice and fun video! Enjoyed it 😉
In Bubblegloop, you can make the croc much faster by using the shoes in the back ;)
Oh I know, but that doesn't help with using the croc in the rest of the level. Only Mr. Vile's challenge
My favorite world (and I feel like no one agrees with me on this) is actually Bubblegloop Swamp from Kazooie. Best Mumbo animal transformation!
Count me among those who think Click Clock Wood is #1. Props for the BK content. I disagree with a whole lot of your list, but your top 2 were solid.
Has anyone else noticed he put Cloud Cuckoland as from Banjo Kazooie? Other than that great video!
i really appreciate the showdown town love, i think it's the best hub too (gameplay wise anyway!)
i loved all your retrospectives and i could obviously tell by them that Tooie was your favorite game, as is mine, but this list seems all over the place though.
Does anybody remeber the vhs videos advertising banjo kazooie and the announcer probouncing rusty bucket bay as rusty "bocket" bay?
1. Freezeezy Peak
2. Witchyworld
3. Hailfire Peaks
Change my mind
So basically Gruntys revenge and Nuts and Bolts sucks. Tooie is good and Kazooie is the best. I concur.
Tooies levels aren't confined, they're all enjoyable for what they are I think. I enjoy the worlds because of that.
