  • You just finished painting the final coat on your car and you step back to admire your work and the glossy finish. Then, all of a sudden you notice it! There's a speck of dust for the whole world to see. Worse yet, it will bug you every time you show your car. In this video we'll show you a hack for taking care of the imperfection. Here are the tools you need: Motor Guard sanding pad, 1200, 2000, 3000 and 5000 sandpapers, and buffing compound.

Another great video my friend! I always learn something. Do you use a wax after you finish the car? For added protection? Thank you for taking the time to make your videos, very much appreciated. I am getting close to painting the metal gas tank and fiberglass body kit on my old 1976 Yamaha RD400. The high performance engine I built, actually started up with an auxiliary gas tank. Turned it off as soon as it started - I'll wait until the painted parts are done. Almost time for the drag strip, at 69 I can't afford to crash and burn. LOL. I primed everything with a rattle can and one coat of gloss black. All is sanded and ready to spray with a LVLP and then with a 2K clear coat. First time using this spray gun, if it doesn't do well, I can try the HVLP. Haven't used it either. I expect lots of floating shit to be attracted to my attempt to paint! Building and repair of bikes and restoration, I need to learn to paint. It would be a lot less cost. I'm sure you understand that. Sorry for going on and on, must be an old man thing. Again, thank you very much!

Wow! You turned a speck into a major production. Excruciating.😮

Sorry you found this painful. This is NOT useful if you're participating in Cars & Coffee (which is a blast!). However, if you're reaching for perfection, maybe this is useful for Pebble Beach.

What is that speck/pit approximately 1 inch from the left edge of the right hand recess, or countersink?

It's neither one. It isn't a a piece of dust in the paint or a pit. It's smooth in the area. The angle of the shot appears to cause a reflection from the light on a component of the fine metallic paint, which is slightly larger than the others. Airliner Gray, as Graham called it, is an early metallic paint.
