I was wondering if you could help me. I had a triple hernia repair one Abdominal and Bilateral Groin repair with mesh in 2014. I have had pain here and there at point that working out hurts. I get like lightning bolt sharp pain around my belly button if I used my abdomen muscles much that day. I recently got diagnosed with Prostate cancer and chose Radical Prostatectomy. The surgery was to be 2.5 hour surgery. The surgery was aborted 30 minutes into surgery due to Mesh. It was attached to my bladder. The surgeon stated he does repairs himself as a Urologist and told me that the previous surgeon used way too much mesh and he could not get around it and it was attached to everything down there but was able to detach from my bladder. He was unable to get to the prostate to remove it. He did not feel that even a Robotic Surgeon could get to it. For now I got kicked down the road for Radiation Therapy which is a good choice too. I worry about in the future for other surgeries not being able to be done. Thanks for your help and time.
Sorry for your story. Did you have open surgery? In the robotic era, it’s very rare not to be able to do a prostatectomy in the face of mesh in the groin. I would see a robotic prostatectomy specialist who has seen these complications.
@@scootermason2746sounds right. Open prostatectomy is often not possible if mesh was used in the preperitoneal space / laparoscopically. This is not as much of a problem when prostatectomy is done robotically.
Great info.
Glad it was helpful!

Yes it was an open surgery. He’s been doing them for 35 years. He has partners in the office who specialize in robotics. Thank you.
