I have watched countless tutorials on this stitch and have been so confused where to put the next stitch. You pointing out where the chain is made, made all the difference for me.
I have been crocheting longer than you've been alive LOL (51 years! My Nanna taught me when I was 7 :-) ) .... and I NEVER knew these *hacks*! If I wanted a "chain stitch " on top AND bottom, the only way I knew was to work into the middle of the bottom of the chain. So I thank you for showing me a MUCH FASTER, easier way! I sincerely appreciate it.
Jayda,I want to thank you, I usually only watch crystal on bag o day, but I started watching you about 8 months ago as well. I have learned so much . I'm still having problems trying to learn how to do magic ring and a few others steps but I'll get there because I keep watching yours and crystals tutorials and lessons. So thank you, you do so much for everyone with these lessons. Right now in my life you do not know how important that is ,you don't know how important it is that I learn , that I have a better place for my mind to go. So thank you. So very much!
❤ thank you so much for all the information! Five years of crocheting on my own self taught through TH-cam videos and I have never understood why Hook goes where it does and the yarn and everything. Less than two minutes of one of your videos, and I understand everything.
Thank you so much. I have done this before but you explain it so much better than anyone else. I now can not only do it I understand it. You are the bomb!!!!!!
So the fdnsc and fdnhdc were much easier than this, but once again, Jayda, you have explained it so even I can understand it! lol! Thank you so much for your clear instructions! By the way, I just noticed that this video came out on my birthday last year! Cool birthday present - thanks! lol!
Best, clearest version of how to do this! Thank you for keeping your fingers out of the way and explaining every detail! 💜 Following other versions my work looked wonky. lol TY TY TY It's a whole new world :)
@Jayda InStitches I am going to start my Crocheting now with the foundation row technique. THE LORD will bless you both for being such a blessing for, to others. THE LORD bless you both so immensely in, of every part of your life of its entire aspects of them.
Jayda, I've watched several tutorials on how to make these and have never been able to figure it out. I watched yours and, wa-la! I can now make a dc foundation row. WooHoo! Thanks! Blessings all!!!! 💜💜
I've always just did my chain and then went back and did the double crochet because it wasn't very clear on how to do this, but I finally get it. You made it clear and showed how easy it is to do the foundation row, thank you !
Yay! Can’t believe I’m finally early to her videos! I’ve been into crochet for some time but it’s always nice to practice the basics! Thank you for posting!
Fantastic, thank you for explaining what we were doing not just showing, I have ASD and giving the explanation enabled me to pick it up so easily. Great speed as well not too slow but not too fast either.xxthank you.x
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have been crocheting for over 50 years but over the last year I have been having problems reading patterns and trying out new stitches. You explained the double crochet foundation chain so clearly. I tried to learn from other tutorials but for one reason or another I failed. 😊
This is exactly what I needed to learn. So well explained. Right now I'm pulling my hair out because I had to rip out my chain stitches twice. The yarn is thin and the chain is hard to count. But this sounds like my solution.
I'm amazed. I have never seen this anywhere. I'm now subscribed & notified. Thanks so much for this awesome stitch & your teaching is great. Loved seeing it. I learn much faster as a visible learner.
Hi Jada! I love love love the no chain foundation rows! Especially when a project call for a looong chain row. Seems I always manage to get my chains twisted 😜.
Hi Jayda, Thank you for the quick fix tip it will help in my future projects. Always watching your tutorials for the great tips and ideas. Like your patterns too!
Thank you so much Jayda! I'm using this stitch for the headbands I make for my customers. The dcf row is fantastic for the headbands because instead of having a chain row that restricts the stretch ability, it stretches so nicely. Thank you so much for being such a great teacher of the craft!!
Are you a schoolteacher by any chance? Because you have an amazing ability to make something that could be so complicated and frustrating to learn a complete breeze. Thank you for your time and talent that you share. God bless
Thank you girl wonder about that i heard of it before that would save a lot of frustration for big chaining very good must try that some day any chance of that c2c scrappy blanket i think i have started on
Hi! Thank you for doing these videos! I don't know if its possible, but if it is, could you do a video on how to make a ripple foundation row using this method. 😊💜
Jayda, would you ever use 2 flattened (by use) pillow forms to stuff a "new" pillow? Or would you open up the flattened pillows and get the stuffing out to fill a new pillow? I want to be able to use up some of those old pillows I have laying around
Hi Petra, I usually use up the stuffing from inside older pillows (wash and dry if it needs it) but using 2 'flattened' pillow forms is a good idea too!
Hi Jamie, yes! If you need a little visual help, we have a single crochet foundation row tutorial here: th-cam.com/video/PNAxaQ2aXJs/w-d-xo.html and the half double crochet foundation row here: th-cam.com/video/NYx2dW9kz4A/w-d-xo.html

That was brilliant! And just in time because I am about to do a project that requires a foundation chain.
OMG I'm in love with this foundation row it makes the edge of the project look so much neater
HI Amber, and it's a quick little shortcut - win win!
That's such a neat technique! It will be a time saver, too, and much easier to avoid twisting. Thanks for sharing!

HI Christina! We're happy to be helpful :)
Jayda InStitches could you suggest some stitches for extreme chunky yarn that use like a 25mm hook
A little tricky for me being left handed but I got it after a few tries I like it will practice some more thanks
HI Antonnette! Does it help to watch the video in a mirror? I find that makes a good reversal for me :)

Hi Petra, I usually use up the stuffing from inside older pillows (wash and dry if it needs it) but using 2 'flattened' pillow forms is a good idea too!
Does the same concept work for single and half double crochet stitches?
