- When the current Mitsubishi Triton was premiered a couple of years ago, I was actually quite impressed with the specifications that included some advanced safety features - by now many of the others have caught up, but it is thanks to Mitsubishi for having started the ball rolling in this new safety direction.
Somehow, we never got to test drive this generation of the Triton, until recently when their marketing team sent us an invite to check out the Triton Athlete - however the MCO took over and we had to delay the test drive for about 7 months - some of our viewers had actually asked for this test drive as far back as last year - we have the hill climb video here - please do enjoy the video and let us have your comments below.

Hi Uncle, u should have tried the 4H function during the drive. The triton then becomes like a full time 4WD. Thats the speciality of Mitsubishi 's Super Select 2. And yes, the handling is amazing for a truck. All Tritons year 2016 above comes with Super Select 2 in Australia , Thai , NZ. Over here its only offered in the high premium variant. Sad. And its proven to be durable.

I drive the 5th Gen L200/Triton for work, and i agree its an amazing Pickup Truck!
Handling feels more car like than a truck, and it corners more steadily some of those MPVs such as the Toyota Wish that i also driven before in the past.
On flat road, the 2.4L, 5 Speed Auto version that i drove is pretty fast too, achieving a 0-100 time in about 9.2 seconds.
Look at the way he overtake the Alpha. Damn ya the legend 😊

The handling are also surprising me too. It's very smoothly compare to other pickup truck.

The Triton Athlete (Strada in the Philippines or L200 in Europe) is the big daddy of them all, Mr. YS. My father has one, just in case I did not tell you earlier.

Overall handling seems to be very predictable progressive understeer overall, with the ability to provide predictable oversteer given suitable inputs. Should be a lot of fun to drive.

Hello sir! Out of all the pickup trucks you tested on Genting, which one of them had the best handling and showed minimal body roll during cornering?
All are quite the same, but perhaps the Mitsubishi was the best in handling.

Engine is noisy when pushed hard. Front double wishbone suspension is great for handling. It didn't seem to bounce al lot. Nice video !
All vehicles will be loud when pushed hard. Show me a car that is quiet when pushed hard. Even the Rolls Royce makes noise. Yes, the double wishbones help, but overall tuning also counts for something.

All are very close, but perhaps the Triton has a slight edge in handling
Was this run done on 2H or 4H mode? The 4th generation Pajero was known to handle better in full time 4WD "4H" mode since it turned to vehicle into a relatively rear biased AWD with a 1:2 F/R torque split.
This run was done in 2H
It is can be whole time in all wheels drive by put it in 4H mode. While 4HL & 4LLC ade only for offroad trail/terrain

Have not driven the Pajero Sport for close to 5 years, so cannot remember.

Most of the ATs available are quite good for road. Best for road are the HTs.

Both of them are good trucks. The Triton has paddle shifters, while the Navara is very comfortable with coil springs.
triton use aluminium engine, so better fuel consumption than navara...

1. May i asked if the Triton is using torque converter or cvt?
2. Comparing with Navara ProFX, which one would be your choice? In terms for daily drive and sometimes having fun doing off road.
None of the trucks use cvt. A truck will always be a truck, so just pick the one you like.
TRITON is better than navara,,, navara spare parts a quite expensive, and its suspension system does not last long as triton do...
is it faster than the dmax 2022?

Uncle, does Triton feel struggle when when drive 50-80km/h in town area or kampung area? Does it feel comfortable and sufficient power ?
No it does not: the engine sounds a bit rough, but other than that it is okay.

HI, i got exactly the same model, but i always slip on the corner. May i know how to overcome it?
What do you mean slip in the corner? Front or rear? Maybe you are going in too hot, or maybe no weight transfer? Hard to tell unless you add more descriptions.
@@YSKhongDriving turn at corner, rear will slip. Got one experience slip on the way to genting, the car turn round. Haha
Any truck 4x4 will slip depend on the surface of the road... But different story to mr Ys Khong.. If i dont mistaken its called experience maybe that is a lagend means
Uncle, I hv been test drive Triton ,my experience was, after doing a cornering, the moment we try to turn back the steering to the straight position, it feel insufficient damping to do it, so it make me a bit uncomfortable to handle the steering. Do uncle feel that?
Maybe alignment is not right, or tyre pressure not right. The sales outlet failed, probably.
