This is another one of his marvelous symphonies. I often listen to his symphonies. Especially his winter symphony. I must say the man was a brilliant composer. No doubt about that. Thanks so much for the upload.
All of his symphonies are works of the highest order-- very tuneful, very accessible and orchestrated superbly. Raff was considered the greatest symphonist during his lifetime, and he influenced later composers, including Tchaikovsky, Strauss and Mahler. It's shameful that his symphonies aren't part of the programming repertoire
Very accomplished an entertaining work - good enough for repeated listens. I first discovered Raff 8 but going through all the symphonies is like discovering a new seam of gold. It was always there but never found. I love symphonies and it is a shame when one gets a little tired of Beethoven, Brahms etc - Adding Raff to my playlist is wonderful - and he stands up very well against the established greats. I rarely want to listen to music for its "significance", I want something to complement my moods or elevate them - this does it nicely.
Aimiable and technically polished - but simply not memorable in any way. It goes on and on and on until it finally stops and you say: "that was nice." And then you promptly forget about it and don't care if you ever hear it again. I've heard all 11 of Raff's symphonies and that pretty much sums up how he strikes me as a composer. I don't think it's a coincidence that as Brahms' symphonic output began to appear in the 1870's, Raff's symphonies began to lose their previous popularity.
While I may love Raff's symphonies, I must say that the finale has some very serious problems. Nothing wrong with the start, but then after its repeat, he gets bogged down in a tedious melody and the motion stagnates and constipates, much like the ending of Beethoven's 5th. Maybe the concept of Wanderlust is musically unworthy.
Null-acht fünf-zehn. It's fatal flaw, incessant rhythmic symmetry and partly because of this, the music is not fluidly transitional in nature, if at all.Even the spaces come with too much predictability, a side symptom of all that rhythmic symmetry. Strengths? imaginative use of harmony. Lush scoring, some beautiful orchestration colors, though there too, it lacks variety and imagination.

Eine Perle im Meer der Klassik ... traumhaft !
Such 2nd movement is quite brilliant!
Why do we not here this guy’s music more often?
I agree with Sam Stover, Russ House Atlanta.
All his symphonies are worth a listen - you'll find most of them worth repeated listens
Because people are so biased and want to listen to mainstream Composer's and no one else! A pity!
A work full of poesie! A sympathetic work composed by a sympathetic person of genius.
You said it right!

Thanks so much for uploading this. On the drive home from work tonight I had the urge to listen to this symphony again and its such a joy.
Danke schön!!! Bamberg
I could nt agree more. Raff s one and only piano concerto (185) joins the club
Un ottima sinfonia, una delle migliori di Raff.
Bel caricamento.
Raff is underrated. He compléments his contemporaries,, Wagner, Bruckner, Brahms.
Прелестная музычка !!
Maravillosa Sinfonía
Reminds me of over the garden Wall
Joachim Raff- Symphonie Nr.8 Op.202 "Frühlingsklänge" 봄의 음향
Symfonienzyklus von der Jahreszeiten(Nr.8~Nr.11):Vielen Schöön!!

Nicht zu unrecht ein vergessenes „Meisterwerk“

Vielen Klassikmusik/Schlagermusik/Volksmusik!!
im conflicted, I kinda like 1.25 for the first movement ending. But I want it like 1.15 or something.
Opus 205, not 202.
I wonder nobody knows about these composers...
That's what makes me wonder as well. People are so obsessed with mainstream Composer's and nothing else!
@@anandsamuel1978 Not really.

That's Raff, yes, and a whole host of others like him.

can you be more specific with timestamps?
The last part has a brilliant ending. People must be deaf.
@@paulcollins5586 I fully agree.
Soy un admirador de Raff, pero el ritmo de marcha al comienzo del primer movimiento resulta infantil y demasiado germánico.
Raffs 2 worst finales, the molasses constipation of #8 or diarrhea of 11

A very sophisticated comment - but I like the melody.
So you seem to be some expert?
@@anandsamuel1978 No, he has an opinion. What is the problem with that?
