I'm not sure whether you realise but Uber is creating the problem by giving every idiot the option to cancel the ride. They should remove the option of cancelling once they passenger/rider gets in your car. The driver should report by a click of a button that the passenger in now in the car and on the way to his destination and that way remove the passenger's option to cancel the ride.
If the conditions are right. I picked up my rider and was on the way, so I did my part. I think she accidentally cancelled. She was kind of old. She had a sweet doggie, I didn't mind. It was a short little trip. And it was maybe 50 cents more than the ride pay, so not a huge deal.
Uber should make it so when the driver picks up people that it can be marked on the app and once that's done the cancel option can't be used by the requester.
I completely agree, however there still needs to be an out because as many good uber drivers as there is, you MAY get a bad one. You should be able to get out, and maybe not cancel, but make a request after the fact for a refund for the mileage driven based on what happened.
Speaking as an Uber driver, I have heard many a horror story from my riders about their experiences with OTHER Uber drivers. I picked up a couple of girls who told me they had just gotten out of another Uber car where the driver was apparently unfamiliar with basic traffic laws. They canceled the ride and demanded to be dropped at the side of the road. Another couple earlier this year was telling me about their previous Uber driver who had all the windows down and the A/C blasting. He even asked his passengers how can he operate his air conditioning. Instances like this make me think passengers still need to be able to cancel a scary ride.
Siknik64 No, that would suck worse because there could be a lot of legit reasons to cancel a ride. This obsession with apps is getting ridiculous, by the way. Pretty soon you will need an app to go to the bathroom.
They shouldn't allow passengers to cancel a ride after the driver picks them up. Or better yet, there should be a hefty cancellation fee for cancelling during a ride.
Also I read somewhere that Uber has released official guidelines for passengers now. Apparently, passengers will be banned from Uber if they are repeatedly reported for doing things such as encouraging the driver to break the law, being violent on disrespectful, or vomiting inside the car. On top of that, Uber charges passengers a cleaning fee for vomiting.
stella marie Yes. A large percentage of Uber customers are drunk when they call. While they are to be commended for not driving while intoxicated, they still behave like drunk people. That includes vomiting and even urinating in the car, which will stain or destroy upholstery and electronics. Everyone knows that when you gotta go, you gotta go, and you can't stop yourself from puking. However, drunk people don't have the mental resources to aim it out the window when it happens.
People that act like this are the same type that order a large meal at a restaurant, eat it all then complain the food was no good, made them sick and want their money back.
@@liloozy8114 you get some shady characters on restaurants. Since "the customer is always right" motto, the customer service industry has made its worker suck the customers feet no matter if they are wrong....yeah, cs suck
Pam Rod so my coworker became manager so he was serving and been manager at the same time. Thanks to him people didn’t get away with shit. They said they’ll call corporate like dude you ate the whole food ! And say you don’t like it? Hm hm hm hm.
Dylan Taylor they're not because Uber is a bare-bones application they try to run the company with a minimal amount of money and Manpower invested with the exception of the drivers
Why are there no passenger ratings? Drivers should be able to communicate to other drivers that the passenger they are picking up is no good. They should be able to choose not to pick them up. It needs to go both ways.
Does this charge work legally? It looks like a fancy enough way of stealing the case would be too abnormal to conclude because of shitty justice system.
Is also suggest calling the help line if its Lyft. When you click on help button in a ride, they will call you back. I had a similar situation but the requestor was in the car and the ride suddenly dropped after driving for like 5 minutes. I pulled over and immediately hit help to get someone since i didn't know if it was an app issue or the passenger being funny and canceling to get a free ride. I put them on speaker and asked how to solve the issue and they checked and it appeared that i was actually still in the ride on tech supports end. They had to manually count my mileage to pay me and i proceeded to drive the passengers to their destination.
I took an uber one day and the gps was all kinds of funky and said the uber was 1 min away even though he picked us up, drove us all the way to the destination and dropped us off. So i called uber and made sure he was paid for the drive. i wasn’t gonna let this poor guy get cut out of his money because GPS wasn’t registering that he entered the pickup spot
I picked up a girl on a military base once and the police were out front of the neighbors house. I wait a few minutes and then the cop waved me down. Apparently my maps were slightly off and that was the correct address. This girl was drunk and the boyfriend called the cops on her to be removed. She had no means of transportation and had no phone so i gues the cops made him get her an Uber. The cop says to me "I need you to get this girl home safe" Not wanting say no to a cop and cause a scene on a military base i let her in and took off. Sure enough the Bf cancels when i get half way to her place. I was furious! This poor girl was beyond intoxicated and phoneless and they put me smack dab in the middle of their fight by stiffening half my fair. So me being the nice guy I am. I take her all the way home. I tried reporting it to uber explained the situation and to see if they could maby pay me for the full fair. Uber support was useless, they said they have no record of the ride after the cancellation and sent me the same message 3 times in a row to "have them rerequest in such an event" When I clearly stated multiple times that wasnt an option. Uber support is pretty good when within protocol, but out right useless for odd situations like this.
BingBangBrine yes. That’s all you can do. When you work for customer service, the rules usually state that if the customer wants a blow job, they get a blow job. Not literally obviously. But mangers will suck a customer’s precious 1 incher to make them happy and piss off the employees
Something similar happened to me once. It was a three-point-something surge. I was driving a woman home. Some guy got her the ride. It was about a twenty mile trip and he cancelled at about ten miles. She was alone. It was a rural area and it was after midnight. I just couldn't leave her in the middle of nowhere, so I took her all the way home and then notified Uber via the app. In a matter of minutes they charged the guy the full amount and credited it to my account. Not saying this advice is bad, given the circumstances, but Uber totally took care of me when I went ahead and finished the ride.
When this happened to me, the rider cancelled right as I pulled up to their destination, just as i was about to close the trip. I contacted Uber and they told me they had no record of the trip or the route taken since the trip was erased once the trip was cancelled. I got screwed out of $25 for an UberXL trip that I drove 10 minutes to the pickup and then drove them 15 miles to their destination.
Then one would also have to file a police report on the theft of services incident with the police and give uber a copy of police report asking for reimbursement for ride taken up to point of ride cancellation for mileage and time of ride; one would also have to call into uber to speak with a physical customer service representative telling exactly what happened and where and how to file the police report incident to have it placed on the uber customer's record and also request that the uber customer be booted from the uber platform and also make and supply copy of video dash cam over to uber to back up and document entire uber ride chronologically as described in police report incident that a uber crime theft of services had taken place; uber drive would have the satisfaction in having the uber passenger banned from its platform for the trouble that he thought he could get away with. Yes the uber rider may get away with not paying the uber rider; but the uber driver always has the legal option to drive to a police station to report and file a police incident theft of services report which would be also filed with uber to get processed so that the uber passenger is booted from the uber platform; that way the uber passenger could not pull this scam ever again; sounds like this uber passenger has gotten one free ride to many and is getting a taste for doing it without any consequence; that is a wrong answer response and just on grounds of moral and ethical grounds he needs to be taken off the uber platform grid for the sake of all uber drivers as an opportunistic low life uber scheming freeloading passenger; who probably has stolen one ride to many; I would be happy to teach personally teach him a lesson in how business law to settle matters and get him permanently banned from the uber platform and learning how to efficiently handle other uber freeloading passengers like him that try to get away by not paying for uber rides received; that is called fraud and theft of uber ride services since one would have uber video dash cam and audio proof of what actually happened during the uber ride; the uber drive would prevail and be able to also file a small claims suit in municipal court that one would easily win by default judgement just in case the uber driver would be foolishly challenged!
Gerald Grogan you screwed yourself. if the trip is cancelled move on you're not obligated to drive the passenger. Why would you still give them a free Uberxl ride to their destination when it was cancelled? never drive any passenger if you're not getting paid.
Oof uber should make the option where if someone cancels for any reason that the Uber gets paid for the driving until where they canceled and have the passenger fill out a form explaining why they cancelled and keep that in the customers complaint file. That way if the customer complains at every ride he eventually won’t be able to make complaints for refunds or anything of the sort
di maria That’s why I said “should”. If they decide to do so is up to them since it is at the end of the day their business 🤷🏻♀️ but finding solutions to propose is always good so that maybe one of them is agreeable for the company, it’s drivers and the customers. Having this tool also brings food to the table of the drivers or else no one would actually do it. That’s how businesses work.
I guess uber drivers can't be armed? A handgun in a holster attached somewhere visible should be just enough projection of power. If the cops aren't enough to persuade them that is.
When you are carting people around, I don't see why that's not a necessity. There are so many wackos and weirdos out there doing precisely this, you are damn right I want to have some kind of evidence backing me up. Every business needs footage because of this exact thing coming up. Commercially driving people is no exception.
If the one that did cancel is not in the car - how is the police gonna help? Either don’t accept requests made by people that don’t actually join, report it as fraud or accept cash if they realy have no other way to get home.. better to accept cash and give it back once they phoned the one to rerequest. After all: if something happens with them after you pulled over and let them out (f.e. Someone at a gasstop rapes the girl you drove and left there cause his friend cancelled) you are a prime suspect and might even have to face consequences.
You do, but get screwed out of the surge. If you were a lowlife like they are, pour some water on seats and tell them its some kind of bodily fluid, and collect your cleaning fee. Personally, I don't recommend this.
Not it’s fine. Last time it was hot as fuck and I was with my child I requested a pool ride. The Uber guy picked up two people and then drove off saying he picked me up I called 3 Times and no answer so I canceled and got charge the amount. Of course now I had to wait for another one and had minus on my account cus the refund takes time. I think both ends gotta work it out.
Sofia Gomez but that’s kinda a problem of misconduct on the end of your driver, and you had yet to actually take the ride so your situation seems like an exception. I think you should have just contacted Uber support, reported the incident, and requested a refund.
@Vault Boy 76 compare the price for a taxi. Uber and Lyft is prob 1/2 the price of a taxi. You don't get weird taxi drivers as well? The point is, there are more riders trying to cheat the system than bad drivers out there. Cancel feature is a safe guard if you feel that your in danger.
It happened to me in Washington D.C. area where the driver never showed up nor answered the phone but I was charged a cancellation fee. On finding the charge, I had to call my credit card support and got the charge taken off. I didn't want to fool around with Uber support as I was really frustrated at that point.@@aaronz6236
I drove for about two weeks and during those two weeks I had one REALLY bad experience with a couple of riders... they were drunk, rude, changed their destination multiple times, and when I was 2 mins from the destination, hit cancel. So I pulled over and told them to get out. I was confused, but I was super mad already at this point so I just kicked them out and later I got a notification from uber saying “oops it looks like you picked up the wrong passenger, therefore your fare has been adjusted to $0.00” I was SO MAD when I saw that. Because it was definitely the right passengers, we confirmed each other’s first names and we were literally on the phone connected through uber while they were entering he vehicle. I ended up getting it fixed through uber, but these people lied and said someone stole their uber so they wouldn’t be charged for it, and uber believed them despite having access to tracking information on both ends confirming that the correct uber was taken.....
Vault Boy 76 if the person hacked someone else’s account that’s not my fault as the driver. When someone tells uber that someone stole their uber, it means that the driver picked up the wrong passengers (therefore leaving the people who actually ordered the uber waiting). Since I was connected to these people via the phone number given through the app, and they confirmed the name, I was 100% sure I was talking to the person uber had sent me to pick up.
@@DustinIsDriving maybe not, some driver using a fake account can just have them confirm on the pick up then just toss them out without driving them anywhere
there is literally no reason for the uber driver to drive to their destination without them, thats a waste of their time for almost no money. the situation you have created it outlandish and will not be taken to heart.
you should drop them back where you picked them up. if they dont want to pay they dont deserve being taken any closer to their destination than where they started
That would further waste the driver's resources though. If it's a decision between (i) returning to the starting point and having them exit the vehicle, and THEN being on your way, or (ii) having them exit the vehicle right where you are, and being on your way immediately, then the second option is superior because you don't waste any further resources. Why spite them at your own expense? It's petty and gives you nothing tangible, a very hollow victory indeed. Also, good luck turning around with a car full of drunks and making it all the way back to the starting point without some sort of substantial resistance.
Why does Uber even allow customers to cancel in the middle of the ride? Why not just have the driver confirm the pickup and not allow the passenger to cancel after that?
My only guess is for when there's the chance driver that is sketchy (not abiding traffic laws, making passengers very uncomfortable, etc), but even then there should be a better process to handle this. Also note that I said chance driver. Not all are bad, but you can get the 1or 2 that end up being bad apples.
sometimes the drivers are bad...one time the Uber driver drove in the opposite direction of my destination and when I asked him why, he said he’s just following the map. It was supposed to be a 10ish minute ride but now I’m 30 minutes away. So yeah, sometimes you do need to cancel.
Because it would behoove you to learn as much about the world as you can before it decides to try to bite you in the ass. You are doing life right, kid. Knowledge is power.
I live for how honest you just were, so straightforward with how you told them and so straightforward an unapologetic about having to stand up for yourself. That is a tricky scenario that could also be dangerous depending people’s actions. People say “beware of the Uber driver” & make jokes, but I would kinda think that Uber driving is more dangerous or rigorous for the Uber driver than the passenger.
They probably knew the friend would do that, and they just want someone to be mad at. That’s the only reason I can think of as to why they’d get mad at the driver. 🤷🏻♀️
Are they drunk? Ok, drop them off at the nearest Marines recruiting station: ‘Hey Sarge, I got you 2 volunteers here, ready to sign up’. See how fast they sober up and ‘find’ the Uber app in their phones.
And youre one of those bad drivers that deserves to be deactivated for doing so. Every time I dont let a passenger do what they want, I get "other drivers...blah blah." Youre one of those other drivers.
Yup, I had a passenger cancel on me too. He was sitting right next to me during the entire ride. To make things worse, he tried to call uber and ask for a refund. They refunded him for $3.00+ for the cancelation fee. Once I sent Uber my dash cam video footage of him still inside the car during the entire trip, uber charged him again and I was paid for the whole trip.
Once the rider enters the car/agrees to the ride, there should be a button that locks the purchase in; the rider needs to press it with confirmation from the driver (will notify confirmation status on both phones). Then the drive can start without any worries about scams.
Yes that’s a different way on collecting cancel fees. This was a trip going on still. The first guy got dropped off and then canceled as I was dropping his friends off so he wouldn’t have to pay the extra money for the trip
I drive Lyft, and the only cancels I've gotten so far, are for no shows at the pickup location. So far haven't gotten any cancels mid ride. I wonder if Lyft has updated this in their system, so that you don't even see it.
DROPPING PASSENGERS OFF ANYWHERE OTHER THAN THEIR DESTINATION AGAINST THEIR WILL IS PUNISHABLE BY LAW. REGARDLESS OF TRANSPORT COMPANY. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR A RIDE TO BE CANCELLED ONCE RIDERS HAVE BOARDED. THE ONLY WAY SUCH AN INCIDENT COULD HAVE OCCURED IS IF THE DRIVER FAILED TO REGISTER PICKING UP THE PASSENGERS AT TIME OF PICKUP, WHICH IS THE DRIVER'S FAULT.
That happened to me also, but thankfully the people in my car downloaded the app and did the request themselves after their friend canceled and the rest of the night went beautifully.
The advice in the video is good. Driving without a valid active trip is an insurance liability. Whatever the reason, you have to stop and let them out and have them re-request or if they don't have the app, they will have to call someone who can request for them. Any event, it's not your problem, it's the rider's problem. If it turns badly, 911 needs to be contacted. But also remember, that a dashcam can help you with this issue as well and protect you.
Uber needs to make it impossible to cancel when it scenes you in motion in the uber car. Or the driver has to confirm it with a yes or no so uber knows if he kicked them out or if they are scamming them
A Uber driver tried to make me a "Client Hostage" by accepting my request and making other request while that ( for 1 hour and I didn't canceled the travel because i have to pay that )
There is no reason at all for them to have the option to cancel once the trip starts. The driver can be responsible for that...the only thing it's there for is for riders to scam it's garbage.
The option to cancel should only appear after selecting wrong driver or rider or some other issue and entering a piece of personal info to confirm you are serious about cancelling with a warning to read the TOS.
Felecia Adamczyk well i can't completely agree ma'am . customers should have the right to protect themselves against crooked driver's that wont end the trip when they are supposed to... Double edge sword my freind
I think he means a well-lit, public location, like 7-11, in case your riders get mad and want to start some trouble. In the day time, I guess it wouldn't really matter too much.
Well said. There's a newish scam I experienced over New Year's Eve. A couple requested at peak surge and proceeded to puke all over my backseat. Once I dropped them off they told Uber *I was drunk* and got me deactivated. Of course, I hadn't had a drink. I even cleaned up their vomit on my own instead of dinging them with the several hundred dollar fee they would've been charged and offered to take them to a hospital repeatedly when they were puking. I had to go to a police station on my own and request a breathalyzer to unlock the $600 I had racked up in my account. People will try anything to get out of paying. Fortunately the officer wasn't a happy camper once he figured out what they had done and yelled at Uber support over the ordeal.
I'm a massage therapist. And I feel so similar in issues. Time is money. People consistently take extra time to talk and won't leave. I work from my home office, clients feel very comfortable im happy about that...I just have to say exactly what you say. You want to sit and talk so I can't schedule other clients? I'll have to charge you. Yeesh. People.
I considered doing this line of work until I realized the probability of me blowing a passengers head off his/her shoulders was far too high...would make too much of a mess.
This happen to me. This guy had a friend request for him and It was surging 2.1. And as soon as I got on the bay bridge heading to Oakland the passengers friend cancels knowing I can’t pull over on the bridge to let him out. So I pulled into treasure island And he said why u getting off here and I said because I’m not going to take u to Oakland on my dime. I told him call his friend and figure it out and he said I don’t have a phone and I said again I am sorry but I am not responsible for a cancelled ride. At this point we are no longer in service so I need u to get out of my car. He got upset and started cussing me out. And refused to get out. I told him if u don’t get out I have no issue in calling the cops to get u out. Then I got a request to pick up another passenger and I told him u need to get out I need to pick someone up. He was refusing so I called 911. Took them 8min to get to me and I lost my other ride. So I had to sign off the app finally when cop got there I explain what happen and guy had to get out of my car. The cop told me This is a scam people are pulling because they keep hearing about this similar situation. So if someone cancels pull over to a safe place and say goodbye ur star rating doesn’t need to take a hit over this. And report them. If they request u again u make sure u put no thanks.
Once the uber app is cancelled they are trespassing on private property really and you have the legal right to demand they step out forthwith. If they refuse, it's police time!
You’re kind of right, it wouldn’t be considered criminal trespass though unless your car was on private property (that you own) as well. There are a variety of misdemeanours they could be charged with though ie. harassment
so weird, in Mexico Uber doesn't let you cancel the trip once it started, you need to ask the driver to finish it early and it will adjust the price as to how many km and time you had inside the car :)
Someone did that to me. I didnt say nothing and just drop them off. I left and went around the block and called it in to uber and they made them pay up in full. All you have to do is make sure you have the Pick up and drop off address and they will bill the customer in full. I got paid right there for it
This happened to me once and I kept my cool and just took the other passengers. It was only like 2 miles. So then after I dropped them off, I sent in a fare adjustment and Uber adjusted the fare to the final dropoff. I sent two sentences to Uber in that trip's helps tab: Passenger had me take his friends home to another location, he then cancelled the ride after he got out but his friends were still in my car -- I did not want to leave them stranded so I took them to the requested second dropoff point. Please adjust my fare to the second dropoff point listed as follows: ... ... Uber responded with their usual copy-paste format, but did mention that they saw that I went straight to the second dropoff. They added like $4.50 to the ride.
And I have kicked friends out before. I drive in a college town and some of these so called entitled little brats get the curb simply for being little Millennial pricks.
I dont understand why this cancel in the middle of the trip is an option and I asked uber as much when it happened to me. If someone gets out your car early you can just end the ride. The whole thing is stupid.
Uber Driver 101 i dont think cancel should be a thing once they get picked up. But they should have a sort of "make this my new destination" option instead for those that legitimately want to get out half way or to make a pit stop.
Kurama or they could just take the cancel out of the rider's option once the person is picked up. I can end the trip anytime, people get out my rides early all the time because they may bring getting to the destination too early so sometimes they get out and want to walk the rest while they smoke or go to some store. I just end the ride, it calculates the distance driven, problem solved. So I dont get the cancelation in the middle of the ride thing it makes no logical since and when I asked uber themselves why it was there they couldn't answer
Since some drivers also scam, I can see why they let ppl cancel in the middle of a trip instead of relying on the driver to end the trip if a passenger gets off early.. but they should use other data available to them to make sure the drivers aren't being ripped off either, since I'm sure there's more passengers trying to scam than drivers. It shouldnt be that hard to do....
Why is cancelling a feature on the passenger's side if the ride has been begun? It should only be a feature if the ride has not started. Only the driver should be able to cancel the ride during the actual ride.
The option to cancel should only be available to the driver. If it is available to the rider, it opens up the option to scam. But if the driver has it, they won’t let then lose money
I sent a friend to my local airport last year and never did it occur to me to cancel the trip. There are too many idiots out there who want to scam those trying to earn an honest living. I wanted to make sure my friend got there safe and since I wasn't driving at the time, uber was the best option
I'm an Uber driver. I had a similar situation. The ride cancelled mid-trip, while on a surge (2.5 rate). Here's how I handelled it... I asked the lady if she meant to cancel. Of course she said "no". So I then asked if she wanted to continue the ride? * Maybe she accidentally cancelled and didnt mean to. She said "yes" that she wanted to complete the trip. So I turned off the app, to prevent new rides from coming in. Then opened up my other navigation app. Asked her for the destination address again. Drove her to the destination. Asked her to wait in the car so we could call Uber support to "adjust" the fare. It took a few minutes, but Uber support recalculated the fare almost immediately, WITH THE ORIGINAL SURGE RATE STILL APPLYING. Everything worked out the way it was supposed to without having to call out my passenger for what may have been an honest accident on her part. I butt dial people all the time. She could have easily pushed a cancel button unintentionally too. I try to be as professional as possible and give my riders the benefit of the doubt. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS APPROACH?
I’ve only had uber pay out 1 time when this has happened. So I don’t bother doing that. Plus they told me since the app wasn’t active anymore.. I wasn’t covered under insurance if I would have got in a accident during that drive. So I don’t play games with that. It takes a lot of messing with the app to cancel the ride on the riders side after the trip has started.
Uber Driver 101 ...good to know. I will have to think about that next time. Thanks for the comment. I like your videos. Mainly I like your positivity and helpful content.
So basically you lost out and there was basically no consequence for them and if they did re-book you then blast you and complain which only would make you lose and have no consequence for them Sounds like driving Uber is terrible and you have zero protection
Some people are just so dumb these days. I hope you don't have to go through that again. Thanks for the information. Very helpful, you deserve more subs
Uber needs to modify their application. you can't cancel ur trip after 5 minutes when you get picked or if you cancel you trip, the driver will leave you on the spot and you pay the half of the price. You can't add any comment or review or rate once you cancel a trip and if you cancel more than 3 or 5 trip ur account gonna be temporary suspended for couple of days.
@@scorpion8rage I'm not a Developper im an electronic engineer but it's so simple to add some strict conditions to an application specially when it use all ur infos, ur credit card and ur position. all u need to do is to add some features and people won't scam anymore.
A passenger canceled on me by accident passenger was trying to put a new drop off ended up canceling, I told him don't worry we stopped at a gas station cause he wanted to tip me and couldn't since he canceled the ride. Took out $20 and gave me 15, then when I dropped them off called uber and they adjusted it and paid me for the whole fare. I usually kick them out when this happens but the guy was genuine and I didn't feel like he did it on purpose.
Sam Fisher no because you waste time. Get them off and get another trip. I do ubereats and last trip i called the guy 4 times and waited 8 min at the door, when i was about to cancel he magically appeared and the one who ordered food was his girlfriend and she wasn't even there, he took the food without saying thank you when i told he was lucky because i was about to leave. So at the end i wasted a lot of time because of him
Really depends how far away you drive someone. Plus your time to do that kind of work in general. Time is money as they say, so easier just to let them out or order fresh ride.
Also for those uber/lyft drivers who are unaware. Ask your insurance adjuster if they cover you while driving for uber or lyft. Since that is commercial use it is different then driving normally with the app off. Some insurance companies offer endorsements where they will cover YOUR vehicle for an accident regardless of fault as long as you have that endorsement while driving with the app on. In an uber or lyft driver is at fault for the accident then unless they purchased collision coverage from uber, they will not be covered when it comes to repairing their car but uber will cover the vehicle that you hit. Hopefully this helps a few people. Also I know this because I am a claims adjuster and I deal with this pretty regularly
I've never taken a uber or anything and don't have the app but you would think that after they request the ride a confirmed pick up button or something in the app that the driver and rider hit to both say I'm here and we're on the move then you can't cancel mid ride! Is that a thing or would it make too much sense?
Oh well... until uber grows a pair of balls and prevents people from scamming drivers this will only go from bad to worse. I am kind of glad I got out of the chauffeur profession 5 years ago.
i dont know much about uber, and ill probably never get it or anything like it, but they should add a button the driver can press thatll say something along the lines of "arrived and heading to destination", once you press that it makes the ride un-cancelable for the passengers and only the driver can cancel it at that point, you know, if an emergency comes up and either the passengers need to get out or the driver needs to stop working and go somewhere edit: i get that this could cause a whole new bunch of problems but there could be ways around it, like having to have a good enough rating to be able to do this or something, but it would help avoid crap like what you explained in this video
Good idea. To get around some of the problems both the driver and the customer should have to press the button within the same period of time before the driver will begin the journey.
Uber Driver 101 ..i'm signed up with Uber, but I moved more to Lyft here in Phoenix...pay has always been on point, but I did hear Uber sometimes has payment problems...thanks for the story
*Shouldn't you be able to press a button once they in the car to say you picked them up so they can't cancel* ? *Can you report what he did from the app info* ?
I wish you could. Yes you can report it but it doesn’t mean you will get paid if you continue and drop them off. You only get paid up to the point that they canceled for sure
@@DustinIsDriving you should bring that up to them and maybe they can do something about it. And as far as reporting him i meant can you flag him so he can't use the app anymore because I'm sure he did that before and still doing it. Thanks for replying you have a new subscriber ☺

We don't have this service in Vermont and taxis here stop service at 7 p.m. and will not go to a place called North Concord. There are no buses in North Concord, I lived out there for 2 years and it sucked. I wish you the best and don't let people mess with you!
I've had a case where a driver "picked me up" (the app said they did but I wasn't) so I had to cancel it which in that case is fair. But people abusing the option should be punished.
Sadly this is still happening to this day.. 2020 was the worst year yet.
I understand people trying to scam big restaurants but I don’t get why they do it to the drivers
They get out at the most earliest convenience for me
th-cam.com/video/44stvLOkpdw/w-d-xo.html
I'm not sure whether you realise but Uber is creating the problem by giving every idiot the option to cancel the ride. They should remove the option of cancelling once they passenger/rider gets in your car. The driver should report by a click of a button that the passenger in now in the car and on the way to his destination and that way remove the passenger's option to cancel the ride.

Someone cancelled on me before, the cancel fee was higher than the trip fee.
Haha gotta love that
But do u get the cancel fee? If not it’s lose/lose
If the conditions are right. I picked up my rider and was on the way, so I did my part. I think she accidentally cancelled. She was kind of old. She had a sweet doggie, I didn't mind. It was a short little trip. And it was maybe 50 cents more than the ride pay, so not a huge deal.
exactly me 2. But they getting out!
That’s always fun! Isn’t it? Like..”..hahahahaha!!! You thought you were smart!!! That’s the funny part!!”
The option to cancel shouldnt be made available once the ride starts.
Yes they shouldn’t.. but they have other reasons for not doing that.
Uber Driver 101 such as?
Klé Dulgarian such as them having a emergency at their house or somewhere else
Klé Dulgarian or you get in the Uber and feel unsafe. Bad driving, driver acting sketchy.
It's happen to me multiple times where my uber doesn't pick me up, but already has the trip started.
All Ubers/Lyfts need car cameras.
Agreed. Always highly recommended
Yes, but only make the video public when someone acts out of place.
There’s another driver that posted his vid, and the person did a cancel, and the harpies refused to leave the car
Then call the Police cause they are trespassing then.
I got mine
Uber should make it so when the driver picks up people that it can be marked on the app and once that's done the cancel option can't be used by the requester.
Sooo agree. It would solve this from ever happening
I completely agree, however there still needs to be an out because as many good uber drivers as there is, you MAY get a bad one. You should be able to get out, and maybe not cancel, but make a request after the fact for a refund for the mileage driven based on what happened.
A post-transportation dispute should be handled just that. After the trip has ended.
That would be great and probably teach them a lesson
Micah Nightwolf
you get paid up to the moment of cancellation. Drivers arn't completely stiffed
But what if someone else took the uber or something like that.
People that act like this are the same type that order a large meal at a restaurant, eat it all then complain the food was no good, made them sick and want their money back.

Why are there no passenger ratings? Drivers should be able to communicate to other drivers that the passenger they are picking up is no good. They should be able to choose not to pick them up. It needs to go both ways.
Most drivers won’t pick up riders with low passenger ratings.
Uber Driver 101 oh so there already is that feature? Good. I wouldn’t know, I don’t use Uber.
Scoremessi Score yes there are partner ratings..
There are
I never thought about this you have a point
You drive them to the police station
You can do that as well
Does this charge work legally? It looks like a fancy enough way of stealing the case would be too abnormal to conclude because of shitty justice system.
Depending on your location, the rider can charge you with kidnapping. The only option you have is to pull over and let them out.
+Furlow Torent Unless you have them on video refusing to get out of the car.
That was nice of you to do. Thank you
I picked up a girl on a military base once and the police were out front of the neighbors house.

I am glad Uber took care of that incident. Last time I reported this happening they didn't for me
When this happened to me, the rider cancelled right as I pulled up to their destination, just as i was about to close the trip. I contacted Uber and they told me they had no record of the trip or the route taken since the trip was erased once the trip was cancelled. I got screwed out of $25 for an UberXL trip that I drove 10 minutes to the pickup and then drove them 15 miles to their destination.
you put yourself at risk. if you got in an accident, you wouldn't be covered by insurance since no active ride - right?
Ya that could work
Well I got charged twice from two different drivers canceling on me and not picking me up.
5 dollars each. That’s what I call complete bs
Oof Poof thats probably because yo bitch ass took too long to come out. When drivers cancel, they can only collect a fee if they waited the wait time.
di maria That’s why I said “should”.

They should make an update where if someone does cancel in the middle of the ride they should at least charge for what you drove for
Yes I still got paid for the miles I drove up to the point they canceled
They do pay u for the mileage
You do, but get screwed out of the surge. If you were a lowlife like they are, pour some water on seats and tell them its some kind of bodily fluid, and collect your cleaning fee. Personally, I don't recommend this.
MarzNet256 “screwed out of the surge?” Uh it’s not getting screwed then it’s reappropriating the trip.
they should had never put a cancel option when they already take the ride
I agree. It is some bs
Damn. I’m glad they fixed it for you. Sadly riders try ticks like why crap all the time
Vault Boy 76 if the person hacked someone else’s account that’s not my fault as the driver.
That's why it's not worth it to drive for Uber, Lyft, or a cab company...... too many assholes and pieces of shit.
UBER doesn't want to maked riders mad. As long as you still get paid it's UBERs problem

They just need to add a pickup confirmed option and not allow cancellations after pickup confirmation
That would definitely fix this issue
@@DustinIsDriving maybe not, some driver using a fake account can just have them confirm on the pick up then just toss them out without driving them anywhere
That’s true. I’ve tried to warn riders about fake drivers as well
PMAJellies you could make it so you have to reach the destination before funds are transferred.
there is literally no reason for the uber driver to drive to their destination without them, thats a waste of their time for almost no money. the situation you have created it outlandish and will not be taken to heart.
you should drop them back where you picked them up. if they dont want to pay they dont deserve being taken any closer to their destination than where they started
Agreed. I didn’t take them any closer
Also, good luck turning around with a car full of drunks and making it all the way back to the starting point without some sort of substantial resistance.

n40798 That is a very good question.
A very solid suggestion. They should have done that from the beginning

That’s right. I’m glad someone gets it. Stay safe out there man

Hey, rocks make great homes!!!
I have my own ride, but Lyft has been great for when I have to take my car in to get fixed.
Also works out well when traveling, and don't have a car.
I got cancelled on once, and just took cash. Not a big deal for me.
Just be careful with that man
It was a slow night so it was going to be my last drive anyways. And it also helped that the passengers were friendly (offered a nice tip)
I’m glad it turned out good in your favor. Just gotta watch out
And youre one of those bad drivers that deserves to be deactivated for doing so. Every time I dont let a passenger do what they want, I get "other drivers...blah blah."
Youre one of those other drivers.
I never been canceled on but I have received some cash. Always $20. So thanks. I know what to look for now. Only been doing Uber 3 months.
Ya that’s just some bs. I’m glad they gave ya your money back
Once the rider enters the car/agrees to the ride, there should be a button that locks the purchase in; the rider needs to press it with confirmation from the driver (will notify confirmation status on both phones). Then the drive can start without any worries about scams.
That would be an awesome world to live in 😁
If someone canceled mid ride...
They'll never find the bodies
Hahaha comment of the day for sure!
Uber Driver 101 lol
Doesn’t Uber charge you $5 if you cancel when they are close ? How do riders cancel during and not get charged?
Yes that’s a different way on collecting cancel fees. This was a trip going on still. The first guy got dropped off and then canceled as I was dropping his friends off so he wouldn’t have to pay the extra money for the trip
I drive Lyft, and the only cancels I've gotten so far, are for no shows at the pickup location. So far haven't gotten any cancels mid ride. I wonder if Lyft has updated this in their system, so that you don't even see it.
This is really interesting because in Australia once the ride is in progress you can't cancel it
That’s how it should be here as well
DROPPING PASSENGERS OFF ANYWHERE OTHER THAN THEIR DESTINATION AGAINST THEIR WILL IS PUNISHABLE BY LAW.
I’m glad they were way more cooperative then my people
The advice in the video is good.
Yes a dash cam is great to have
But dont forget your local laws! In Washington it is illegal to use a device like a dash cam to record people's conversations even with you.
Who watched the whole thing and wondered why the whole time?
Lol I hope it was entertaining at least
It must’ve been. I watched the whole thing
Uber needs to make it impossible to cancel when it scenes you in motion in the uber car. Or the driver has to confirm it with a yes or no so uber knows if he kicked them out or if they are scamming them
Exactly. That would be nice
Nah nah nah what if thd driver is harassing the person
A Uber driver tried to make me a "Client Hostage" by accepting my request and making other request while that ( for 1 hour and I didn't canceled the travel because i have to pay that )
MJCC fun&games But then the driver can just kick them out for no reason then when the rider tries to cancel the driver declines it.
Virito Vitor
What?
There is no reason at all for them to have the option to cancel once the trip starts. The driver can be responsible for that...the only thing it's there for is for riders to scam it's garbage.
I agree
Unless you pick up wrong rider then they need a way to cancel.
The option to cancel should only appear after selecting wrong driver or rider or some other issue and entering a piece of personal info to confirm you are serious about cancelling with a warning to read the TOS.

Uber Driver 101 yes that would be called a sidewalk.
I think he means a well-lit, public location, like 7-11, in case your riders get mad and want to start some trouble. In the day time, I guess it wouldn't really matter too much.
Yeah always in a public location!!
thejuice32 people are evil
Damn.. that’s really messed up. I’m glad you got the matter resolved but it shows the lengths people will go to not to pay up
LMAO, holy shit!!
Yeesh. People.
Exactly
I considered doing this line of work until I realized the probability of me blowing a passengers head off his/her shoulders was far too high...would make too much of a mess.
Lol. Ya they can make ya want to do that from time to time.
Smart Fart why i wont do this either!😆
As a non-drinker I have about "this much" tolerance for drunk people and those who act drunk (which is pretty much everyone else).
That’s right. Sry to hear they tried to get ya as well. Some people man I tell ya.
Damn treasure island though lmao
ah scammer have the audacity to get mad
Some people have no shame.
Once the uber app is cancelled they are trespassing on private property really and you have the legal right to demand they step out forthwith. If they refuse, it's police time!
Totally agree. They should have been mad at their friend and not me
James French
Forthwith! Be gone, deadbeat!!
00 Josh sleep it off in the gutter
James French
I tend to get that a lot
You’re kind of right, it wouldn’t be considered criminal trespass though unless your car was on private property (that you own) as well. There are a variety of misdemeanours they could be charged with though ie. harassment
You were very patient and calm. Mad respect to you.
Thanks man
Why does uber even allow to cancel your trip? Here in asia we use Grab and once it confirmed that you have been picked up there is no way to cancel it
That’s how it should be everywhere
Cause grab is a pos app that was meant to get a metered taxi in Malaysia that was shoehorned into a ridesharing platform.
People have no shame anymore
So true lol
so weird, in Mexico Uber doesn't let you cancel the trip once it started, you need to ask the driver to finish it early and it will adjust the price as to how many km and time you had inside the car :)
See I’d much rather it be like that here
Someone did that to me. I didnt say nothing and just drop them off. I left and went around the block and called it in to uber and they made them pay up in full. All you have to do is make sure you have the Pick up and drop off address and they will bill the customer in full. I got paid right there for it
That’s right
People who cancel during the ride I would drive them far away from their location
Ya many say that. I just needed them to get out at that point
Uber Driver 101 you have better patience than me lol you handled it professionally
Ya I’ve done that before and not been paid. And they told me if I continued to do that I could be deactivated.. so now it’s app on or get out lol
What was Uber's instruction?
And I have kicked friends out before. I drive in a college town and some of these so called entitled little brats get the curb simply for being little Millennial pricks.
Ya... I would just drive them to the police station and charge them with fraud.
At that point they just needed to get out
You were kind for dropping them at a gas station instead of the middle of nowhere.
Ya I tried to do my best with the situation at hand
I don't even drive for uber, but I'm subbing these are entertaining
Lol well I appreciate that and hope ya like them. Stay safe out there
I dont understand why this cancel in the middle of the trip is an option and I asked uber as much when it happened to me. If someone gets out your car early you can just end the ride. The whole thing is stupid.
Thank you. Someone who gets it. Ya I agree it shouldn’t be aloud to happen
Anything besides canceling would work I think
Since some drivers also scam, I can see why they let ppl cancel in the middle of a trip instead of relying on the driver to end the trip if a passenger gets off early.. but they should use other data available to them to make sure the drivers aren't being ripped off either, since I'm sure there's more passengers trying to scam than drivers. It shouldnt be that hard to do....
Why is cancelling a feature on the passenger's side if the ride has been begun? It should only be a feature if the ride has not started. Only the driver should be able to cancel the ride during the actual ride.
I agree it’s messed up.
But what if the driver doesn't want to
Should've driven them back to startinf point or further away ;)
They weren’t close to where they wanted to go
Ikr they probs just want to knock off some bills getting closer
That would just be a waste of gas
@@TiagoApparel you wrong me and I'll drive you to the desert and say get out lol
The option to cancel should only be available to the driver. If it is available to the rider, it opens up the option to scam. But if the driver has it, they won’t let then lose money
Agreed
I sent a friend to my local airport last year and never did it occur to me to cancel the trip. There are too many idiots out there who want to scam those trying to earn an honest living. I wanted to make sure my friend got there safe and since I wasn't driving at the time, uber was the best option
Thank you for not being a tool like these people’s friend was.
Uber is a scam rofl.
This happened to me during my first week with Uber. If I get multiple riders the person who requested the ride gets dropped off last.
Ya I do that from now on as well
So the guy cancelled after his ride was over and you don’t get paid for that?!
I was paid up the point of the trip being canceled
Joshua Lantto just get a real job and forget all the constant fuzz
Belligerent Drunk ....I'll consider it. Got any recommendations?
So basically you lost out and there was basically no consequence for them and if they did re-book you then blast you and complain which only would make you lose and have no consequence for them
Sounds like driving Uber is terrible and you have zero protection
Sadly at times it feels that way
Some people are just so dumb these days.
I hope you don't have to go through that again. Thanks for the information.
Very helpful, you deserve more subs
Thanks you and yes they are
Uber needs to modify their application. you can't cancel ur trip after 5 minutes when you get picked or if you cancel you trip, the driver will leave you on the spot and you pay the half of the price. You can't add any comment or review or rate once you cancel a trip and if you cancel more than 3 or 5 trip ur account gonna be temporary suspended for couple of days.
It would be nice if they fixed this
They should hire you to run this damn business lol.
@@scorpion8rage I'm not a Developper im an electronic engineer but it's so simple to add some strict conditions to an application specially when it use all ur infos, ur credit card and ur position. all u need to do is to add some features and people won't scam anymore.
*im not sure why im here i dont even have a car or know how to drive*
Lol well I hope the content is entertaining
Uber Driver 101 it was, quite informative. :)
Why did this video show up in my "recommended" feed? lol
Lol. It new you needed to be entertained. Thanks for the comment. Be safe
no what you sohuld do is if it's cancelled mid way through, drive all the way back to their original destination from where you picked them up
They needed to get out at that point
As long as it’s not th Highway that’s right
A passenger canceled on me by accident passenger was trying to put a new drop off ended up canceling, I told him don't worry we stopped at a gas station cause he wanted to tip me and couldn't since he canceled the ride. Took out $20 and gave me 15, then when I dropped them off called uber and they adjusted it and paid me for the whole fare. I usually kick them out when this happens but the guy was genuine and I didn't feel like he did it on purpose.
Yes there are some incidents where it’s not bs
You should have drove them back where they started
At that point I just needed them out of my vehicle
Sam Fisher no because you waste time. Get them off and get another trip. I do ubereats and last trip i called the guy 4 times and waited 8 min at the door, when i was about to cancel he magically appeared and the one who ordered food was his girlfriend and she wasn't even there, he took the food without saying thank you when i told he was lucky because i was about to leave. So at the end i wasted a lot of time because of him
Really depends how far away you drive someone. Plus your time to do that kind of work in general. Time is money as they say, so easier just to let them out or order fresh ride.
Uhh, unless you carry a gun, and know how to use it, NEVER uber at 1 am. You're lucky yelling is all they did.
I make sure I’m protected and they were drunk so I wasn’t to worried about that issue.
Thanks for that insurance info.
I second as an insurance adjuster. Some companies will even deny the claim
Yeah as a female I’m not doing Uber , just to prevent that foolery! I’m sorry you had to deal with that!
Thank you. Ya sadly it happens from time to time
I've never taken a uber or anything and don't have the app but you would think that after they request the ride a confirmed pick up button or something in the app that the driver and rider hit to both say I'm here and we're on the move then you can't cancel mid ride! Is that a thing or would it make too much sense?
Yes you confirm the pickup. But in this case the one who ordered the trip was dropped off first.
I don't even use Uber, why am I here?
The force was strong with you that’s why. Thanks for the comment. Stay safe out there
entertainment to hear about stupid people and things others have to deal with?
I can totally understand why cabbies get so indifferent and have an attitude!
That’s right. No body likes people trying to get over on them
You cant cancel a traditional can ride mid trip
i don’t work for uber, but this is interesting.
Thanks for watching
😀
Oh well... until uber grows a pair of balls and prevents people from scamming drivers this will only go from bad to worse. I am kind of glad I got out of the chauffeur profession 5 years ago.
Ya new things seem to happen every day
I never went to oover javer
Lol
Uber should make it where you can’t cancel the trip in the second half of your ride.
I totally agree
i dont know much about uber, and ill probably never get it or anything like it, but they should add a button the driver can press thatll say something along the lines of "arrived and heading to destination", once you press that it makes the ride un-cancelable for the passengers and only the driver can cancel it at that point, you know, if an emergency comes up and either the passengers need to get out or the driver needs to stop working and go somewhere
edit: i get that this could cause a whole new bunch of problems but there could be ways around it, like having to have a good enough rating to be able to do this or something, but it would help avoid crap like what you explained in this video
I agree. It would definitely be helpful
Good idea. To get around some of the problems both the driver and the customer should have to press the button within the same period of time before the driver will begin the journey.
This happened to me...I just contacted Lyft and they paid me extra
Oh damn. I’m glad to hear they paid ya. Uber has burned me many times on payment so I don’t take chances anymore.
Uber Driver 101 ..i'm signed up with Uber, but I moved more to Lyft here in Phoenix...pay has always been on point, but I did hear Uber sometimes has payment problems...thanks for the story
Ya Uber can be a pain in the ass to deal with at times. Glad ya enjoyed the story.
Ya I’ve brought it up before but Uber doesn’t care sadly. Ya I’m sure they have done this before as they weren’t mad at th friend that canceled. I always try to reply to people that comment and thanks for subscribing
@@DustinIsDriving "only get paid up to the point that they canceled" - well... that point is the point the ride stops. Period. Even if gotta call the law to come remove the rest from the vehicle
People are so dumb thinking they can get away with a free ride, it ends up wasting time for everyone!
Thank you. That’s right
Rockwall lmaoooooo I read that comment in my head with a Mario voice😂😂
Hahha now you made me do it too!
There should just be a thing in the app on pickup where both driver and passenger confirm pickup before you drive off and then you cannot cancel.
Ya I wish there was

Thank you I appreciate that
I've had a case where a driver "picked me up" (the app said they did but I wasn't) so I had to cancel it which in that case is fair. But people abusing the option should be punished.
Yes they totally should be
Right on ! It's also awesome to know that people's comments were as important and meaningful to you as your info was to us
