Hazy Rasp Vocal Lesson: Earshot, Hinder, Nickelback, etc.

In this video I talk about how to add that 'hazy' rasp so many bands use. Bands like Earshot, Hinder, Nickelback, and Finger Eleven (sometimes) use this technique, probably thousands of other bands as well. It is very close to the regular rasp technique, but it is more breathy, and much more gentle. It does tickle your throat much more than traditional rasp, but when you get into doing it correctly it will almost feel like its resonating in your nasal area.

Pretty much! The techniques should be the same with soft and loud, so with some practice you should be able to do both.

No, that isn't what he is explaining here. This means war is very heavy rasp which goes into controlled yelling in the chorus. What he is talking about here is what Chad does in song like Photograph, Someday, and Rockstar. The degree of rasp is very different.
