Hi guys I just wanted to Introduce to you my other Channel "Kirkman's Academy" - which i'm just getting started. It's a go-to channel for simple explanations for hard to grasp subjects such as physics, maths and chemistry etc. Here is the link: www.youtube.com/@kirkmansacademy/videos . Thank you so much for looking, and if these topics interest you then I hope to see you the there. Many thanks indeed. Craig 😊👍
I am a teacher and I like how you demonstrate what you are doing by sticking the screw driver in the hole ,but then you have a real carburetor and you show what the screw driver is turning. Great teaching techniques. Thanks for taking the extra time.
I just replaced the carburetor and I realized I wasn't really sure how to make the adjustments. I watched a few videos but they were long winded and left me still uncertain. This one was the best and straight to the point and well explained. I spent the afternoon in the woods with a well running saw.
@@spagsketti yep I came here to adjust my screws not pass a test on carburetors 🤣 too much information in half these videos. Finally one I can understand easily.
My chainsaw had over the time had become very problematic, hard-to-start, diminishing power, and easily dies upon throttle rev up, etc. Following your instructions I have just turned it into an amazing machine I never had before - thank you!
@Dean Clark I have a Timberpro and also use a farmer friends Stihl. There is no difference between the cutting ability, the handling is better in the Stihl but both get the job done, with a sharp chain......
Thank you thank you thank you. I had replaced the fuel lines and I started messing with the adjustments and I got them all out of whack😖. Your video saved the day. Simple, to the point, accurate and very very helpful. I did exactly what you said and had great success. 👍🏻👍🏻Two thumbs up. Big likes
Thank you, sir! I couldn't find this information anywhere in the chainsaw manual. After countless tries to get the thing running and reattach my arm to pull that wretched rope another day, I tuned (no pun intended) into your channel. There I found your priceless information about the H and L adjustments. After applying what you said, it fired right up and runs like a top. Again, thank you so very much!!!
THANK YOU! DEFINITELY THE BEST and CLEAREST chainsaw vid on all of TH-cam; hands down!! Even my owners manual didn’t make sense; just confusion! Also, thank you getting straight to it! I don’t know why everyone feels the need to tell you long history lesson, then bedtime story, the 30mins they show a blip and that’s it😡
You have made the best carb adjustment video I've found by fast. To the point and very complete! I needed to start from the carb fully closed as you showed. No one else showed this. THANK YOU!
I appreciate all your videos so very much. I’ve learned much more from your’s then any others. Your explanations are so clear and easy to understand. Thank you from Nebraska USA.
Thank you so much for your simple explanations regarding engine performance! I have always been so terrified of doing something wrong that I have neglected all my yard equipment engines. Now with your easy to understand videos I can start giving them the care and attention they deserve! Please keep making these great videos. They are a great confidence builder!
Any tips on actually making contact with the L & H screws. 😤😭. Not sure if it’s because I’m left hands but once the driver goes in I hit nothing! No matter how many try’s. great video too thank you.
Subbed..just got a new Farmertech G444 carb was out of adjustment..chain spinning at idle n high revs..Doing the adjustments based on your video to dial it in..Ty for making the simple tutorial videos
I love the way you speak mechanistically, in contrast with many other explanations. Can you tell me why idle rpm increases when you turn the L screw clockwise, reducing fuel delivery? Is it because the saw idle is set too rich, and dropping that ratio down gets to stoichiometric A/F balance? If you had a tach, would you adjust the L screw to achieve peak rpm at idle? Or, is it better to be a little rich at idle so that a cold saw will start more easily?
Thanks for the great video!Really understandable and clear.I got a similar chinese model after some time of usage i got problems with it,plus i had to order a "pac-man" type screwdriver in order to adjust the carb!Maybe i was lucky but i followed your guide and just used my ear, listening the reactions, hehe.Seems to run pretty well now! Thanks for that mate!Greetings from Greece!
I just got myself an echo cs 490. It was bogging down in wood over 10 or so inches which shouldn’t be happening so I took off the litter caps and am going to tune the carb up a little higher as well as open on the muffler exhaust. Hopefully this wakes it up. How’s the Timberwolf working for you?
Thanks I have a weed Wacker I wasn't sure about. I bought a professional husky and it's only about a year old it always sounded clanky out of box in idle. I figured that's how it was supposed to be. Just now I went to use it and it had no balls what so ever under load. I figured the gas was bad. Dumped it out put in fresh 95 octane and still would bog under load and stall out under idle once in awile. I ended up playing with the carb before your video. I did the L first then held the gas for H until it sounded like something normal. I was worried I messed up and used your video as a reference. First time I ever messed with a carb so I was a bit worried thanks for the video.
Thanks for the video and link to the kit. My Dolmar PS-35C has an ordinary slothead screwdriver on the L adjustment, and a single-D on the H adjustment. The idling adjustment takes a Philips screwdriver. You have to wonder why they aren't all the same.
To keep you from tampering with it. The environmental people don't want you messing with the mixture screws and the amount of pollution the saw puts out and the manufacturer doesn't want you messing with the high speed screw and blowing the engine up from over-revving. No one cares if you change the idle speed.
Master please help I got an Husqvarna 326 chainsaw that the carburettor doesn't work I have cleaned and pulled apart several time lately I decided to remove the H and the L adjustment screws I come to realize that the longer L screw the point is broken and probably that is why the primary gets hard to pump ? 1) How to remove the broken piece 2) IS the longer screw in the right place L ? Thank you
Dear TRS, how to do that if I made a mess with idle screw? Actually, I replaced the carburetor on a Husqvarna 142 and started playing with it. But I forgot initial settings of idle screw and I am puzzled now. What is going on is my chainsaw starts working, idle is very high (noisy) and I simply don't know where to start from or how to continue. Could you explain a good starting position of idle screw at the beginning, when both my L and H screws are at one turn counterclockwise from right position?
Question for you the chain is spinning very fast so I turned the idle screw down I can get the chain to stop spinning but the saw shuts off eventually do I need to adjust the low screw at all what is your opinion thank you
I always do the L screw first as 15-20% of your fuel at full speed comes from the low speed circuit. (Most carbs) Another thing is that if you idle speed adjustment is too high it will be difficult to adjust the low speed jet
I normally turn out the idle adjustment to just a small amount so I can hear clearly what the low is doing than set it. Then use the idle to bring my rpms back up to spec
Would you be able to help me with an issue I’m having with a Stihl 015? I have to adjust the high idle screw all the way in for the saw to run properly, but still don’t have high enough rpms. Any suggestions? Thanks sincerely, KyleH
L adjustment adjusts the fuel/air mixture ratio. This is important to have set probably so when you accelerate there is no hesitation going to full rpms. After getting this set properly then adjust the idle screw to desired idle speed.
Help ...I have two Stihl 034 chain saw ---O34-- and 034 AV...the 034 has a Zama carb and works fine ...the 034 AV has a Tillotson carb and after many cleaning it does tempt to start with 1 to 1--1/2 out..... Should I replace the carb with a Zama as the 034 ?
If revving the chainsaw without cutting wood (as seen in this video), all chainsaws that WORK PROPERLY will get what appears as excessive oil on the bar. This is a GOOD thing! When cutting, you won't see that oil on the bar as its contacting the log. It is MUCH better to have too much oil feeding than not enough, as too little oil will cause excessive heat damaging the bar and chain.

@Dean Clark Hilarious but sad at the same time. Do we blame the companies making garbage products or the cheapskates who created the demand?
