Hey guys, welcome to LOST BITS! Where I will cover unused, unreleased and unseen things in various games! In this video, we're diving back into Minecraft, this time taking a look at the Minecraft Bedrock and old Pocket Editions! Just put coordinates on, type them down then go off. When you wanna go back, just look at the typed coordinates and go to said coordinates.
And done.
I have coordinates saved and memorized so I rarely am lost.
11:04 "reserved6" was actually used when you opened a world made for a newer version of the game in an old one. All the new blocks that the game didn't know were replaced with this "upd-ate" block.
One time, I loaded a world in pocket edition (this was a few years back i believe) and it was just a grid of blocks spaced out, some of which were the upd-ate! blocks. It honestly freaked me out big time then. I think it was a world where my brother built the titanic or something

I love how they actually removed the old sounds except for the old water splash sounds, those are still in the game and are still used for whatever reason.

Nether reactor core is the first thing that came to my head when I saw this. A cool fact about the reactor core is that after it was removed the block will stay in lower res version, and breaking it would give you the materials used to make it.

Oh dang... Nostalgia set in when I heard the old bow and door sounds.
In the console edition, there was an item called the “shrub”. On Switch or similar devices you can transfer a world from the older MC to bedrock. After doing that, you can load up the world and see that the shrub is invisible and can be broken instantly.
Interesting seeing you here. Isn't Shrub like a dead bush?
I heard there was the shrub in Java edition as well, it has the tallgrass blocktype with a different data value
@@RoGamer97 Yep, shrub looks exactly the same as a dead bush. I think the difference is that you can place one on sand and the other on dirt.
My xbox 360 still has the release build, so if anyone wants proof I wil go load it up and look with my own eyes

the "replacement6" block can also be obtained when you somehow load newer features in an old version

yeah its really easy in android, i place blocks that were added in a version, then install a very old apk version (ones with the old icon, dont know til what version it works since opening a new world in a previous version or one of the versions with the minecraft icon without "pocket edition" and without the shadows because it would say that we cant open a new world in an older version) and open the world in a very old version, and boom, there they are, and they stay with that texture if you update, sorry if this was complicated
it can also be obtained by updating the game sometimes, because bedrock is super buggy
Yeah, that happened on a console version of the game as well with one of the old tutorial worlds
I got one in my old world with a cauldron. It just got replaced.
9:50 The old lava sound sounds like someone is having a bad time on the toilet.
At 5:13 actually the "healing from food items" scrapped feature and "the chance to get seeds after using a hoe on grass block" one weren't actually scrapped, but they were used back when there was no hunger bar before 0.12 for the healing and for the other feature it was used when tall grass wasn't implemented yet before 0.9, just like in the old java versions.
I remember seeing the “update” blocks as a kid when using world edit, and I thought there was a new update and got so excited and disappointed

Nether reactor cores are so fascinating to me. I remember when I first got pocket edition I managed to freeze the reactor on it's red (activated) texture, and then i put it on display in my little museum

I remember that there used to be an unofficial app that could patch into Minecraft PE and you could create a server over a Bluetooth connection. It was pretty cool for situations where you did not have access to a hotspot. It also allowed you to spawn in items like the update blocks and the activated obsidian. I remember building in creative out of activated obsidian and thinking that it was a really cool block. I still think it is. I believe (if I'm remembering this correctly) activated obsidian glows kind of like a light source. But it has this weird red glow to it.

According to someone, The block with the update texture WAS used until 1.16.0, when they decided to remove blocks from add-ons. It was a placeholder texture for a block added with an add on that you didn’t download the texture for when joining a friend’s world with said add on.

I remember asking for this video in 2018 because I looked through the files and saw some “unused” files. They were actually used in the shop. Still glad to see it here!
You can still find the reserved6 block in game actually. I’ve done it before, if you’re moving multiple blocks at once, you can make one of them appear, you can pick it up with the pick block feature. I just wanted to say this real quick.

There’s one more way to get a nether reactor core... have a world from 2012 that you somehow never deleted still on your phone that still has the reactors in its inventory...
That’s on of my proudest (and most useless) achievements.

Keep in mind, basically most of the new slabs we see in game are just the normal block textures just cut in half, the smooth stone being one of the only types that has a texture for its own slab

A friend and i played the early versions and when we used the netherreactorblock , we were fully prepared , had awesome loot , and built awesome houses , i still have the world and didnt delete it and luckly the updates didnt delete it too , the room where the nether place was going on still is there just a bit broken , awesome...

" reserved six" appears if you download a world from an update you haven't updated to yet and replaces any new blocks

This video is actually super interesting because I know so much about Java, from having played it for so long and looking at its code, that its cool seeings all the changes Bedrock underwent.
Also its pretty funny to watch you cluelessly wander Minecraft for B roll.
Those door sound effects just brought back so many feelings.
The minecart with furnace was actually implemented at one point.
It got added into Java before red stone but Bedrock was made after redstone was added

i remember seeing the "update" dirt blocks along with some bugged grass blocks that appeared to be 1/4 mycelium on one of my worlds that was ported from pocket edition to the newer bedrock edition
I remember, in the old days of MCPE before the Better Together update, i used to mod it a lot with a certain app. When I disabled a mod, blocks that were from the mod were replaced with dirt blocks that had a green text all over them that said "update!"

Here's some more info on that red glowing obsidian:
-It replaces the original nether reactor when activated
After the nether reaction was over it would turn into a heap of obsidian (I made a house out of it)
Also it is the only source of light in the reaction (unless you place torches or something)

I believe the elder guardian ghost is a model used when you get close to the sea temple and a elder guardian moves across the screen. Hard to explain and can't find any gameplay but i'm almost sure of it

The image that was shown at 10:12 was actually the old crafting menu for a while until it got replaced. Idk when it was replaced though because I stopped playing during one of the earliest versions and then started playing again when 0.15.0 was the latest update.

I remember breaking my nether reactor core and it gave me the crafting materials of the block. Then , I looked in creative mode to see where it was... it was gone.
My sister had a world where all the old features including the nether reactor core, indefinitely powered rails, and all our funky builds covering the entirely of the limited map. That world was deleted and we were devastated
Some of the audio effects are pretty cool! I hope someone has made a mod that adds them.

I just remembered something. The update blocks were used before the outdated client screen was a thing. My friends didn’t update their game (I updated mine, update was when magma was introduced). My friends came in and on heir screen there were the update blocks.
There also used to be an invisible light source, a glitched out end rod, accessed using the /setblock command.
The same update that removed these added the light block!

Lol my survival realm has a few of the update6 blocks lying around from living through so many updates. We treat them as the one of the rarest resources and it makes them so fun to find.

I remember back on PE back when the Stonecutter and Nether Reactor Core was a thing I made a hotel that sucked, but I loved it. Turns out it ended up in the shape of a sheep so I called it the sheep hotel.

Since I played the first ever update of minecraft pocket edition, most of the items in this gives me nostalgia
7:04 The picture shown is the nether reactor core after it changed texture in 0.15.0 because the default and plastic texture pack nether reactor core textures were accidently swapped, of course they found out like you said by mods since it was not able to be obtained without them in 0.12.1. Another thing is that the drops of the nether reactor core changed in 0.12.1 even though it was made unobtainable without mods in that update. I started playing MCPE around the same time it came out but stopped playing in the 0.16.0 update when they started making it into bedrock. Also Creepers Diamond Ores

I was excited for this, I was waiting so long for the bedrock lost bits. Guess we got to do legacy editions.
The nether spire that used to spawn when you made the nether reactor core was actually made of obsidian before they implemented netherrack a few updates later.
I think I still have a world on my phone with an obsidian spire.
A fun Fact about the Nether Reactor Core, the Texture used is from the Plastic Texture pack.
During one update the Textures were mistakenly swapped and as a result the Reactor Core would look smooth and shiny on the normal Textures and Veiny (normal) on the Plastic textures.
