    Hello. Hey Kurt. I want to get in an acting class so I can have an agent help audition. But the thing is that I'm a little embarrassed to ask my parents to get me a class. Can you give some tips?

    • @deriah4622
      @deriah4622 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I reccomend just giving them idea or trying to collect some money, so you can pay for the first classes yourself, to show them your serious about it! Oh, and give classes your full attention, agent will come with time. First learn everything, try to reach yourself for some ads castings, take headshot, complete a little resume and go for it!

    Last time I tried to sing first responders were called and the "Jaws of LIfe" were used.
    It was quite awkward to say the least.

    Thanks Kurt for your videos! Please give me advice about which online classes should I start taking as a beginner acting student. I’m a senior in High school undecided between the Sanford Meisner center, the Lee Strasberg Institute and Stella Adler studio. Which technique do you recommend to start my foundation? Thank you 🙏

    • @ActingCareerCenter
      @ActingCareerCenter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's totally up to you. There are successful actors who studied all three. I, personally, studied Meisner and that has been great for me.

      The first step before anything else is to start taking acting classes. That will clear up a lot of confusion when you get to ask the teacher questions in class.

    • @ActingCareerCenter
      @ActingCareerCenter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your actual age doesn't matter. What matters is if you can still play the character of that age. There are plenty actors in their 20's or even early 30's who play teenagers in movies and shows

    Hey Kurt,I am actually 18 years old guy from India.I have been interested in scriptwork and directing(I have some good ideas).I know it's hard to get chance in Hollywood from India (because I need to get us visa or green card).But Hollywood is also in Canada right(so I can get chance from there and to get Canadian green card is easy)and I can make a movie below 30 in Hollywood. How about my probabilities

    Hey Kurt! So I’ve had a few questions about being eligible to join SAG-AFTRA. On one of the requirements it says I could work as a principle for a day under a SAG-AFTRA production. How exactly do I find or get booked for a PRINCIPAL/SPEAKING role in Sag-Aftra so I can be eligible to join the union?

    • @ktoth29
      @ktoth29 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Smaller Union projects will occasionally advertise on local message boards or in the back of a newspaper. If you do well enough in the audition to get the part, the producer will pay a bounty to the Union to let you join. This is called "Taft Hartley" based on the law that allows producers to hire non union members if no union members are available. However, joining the Union doesn't really help you unless you are already an experienced actor in a market with lots of union projects.

    • @ActingCareerCenter
      @ActingCareerCenter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The vast majority of SAG-AFTRA productions will go through talent agents to find actors. However, you may be able to find some without an agent via casting websites like Actors Access. Just be prepared that publicly posted casting calls often get thousands of submissions so the competition just to get an audition is fierce. All that being said, there are pros and cons to joining SAG-AFTRA and for actors who are newer, the cons often outweigh the pros. Check out this video on SAG-AFTRA if you haven't already: th-cam.com/video/R9G3SNjdg3s/w-d-xo.html
