Really nice video, France and Italy are very similar and have the best ultra high speed trains and also great food and wonderful sights, oh and of course the most beautiful and historical railway stations!!
No I fully agree this was the benchmark for train travel in Europe. In 2019 I took my family from Australia to Northern Italy. We caught the Frecciarossa Executive Class from Milan to Venice, Venice to Bologna, Bologna to Rome & Rome to Milan. It was first class all the way - the seats, the meals & the drinks & the staff. My only complaint was like yours - you are paying top price only to have your large window views obscured with unnessary advertising. Why? Trains sure beat planes, especially in Europe. Also going Executive meant you had access to the lounges in the major cities & porters would carry your luggage on board for a small fee. I just wish they got rid of the advertising on the windows. Pleased to see Frecciarossa has moved into France (& Spain).
Great video. Too bad about the external window covering. That would be a deal-breaker for me. I willingly pay for at-your-seat service but train travel for me is mostly about the views from the window.

We are headed to France (from the US) in June for our first time, taking the train to a few cities. This channel has been great in helping build excitement, and also - to alleviate some of the nervousness of EU train travel!
Have fun! There’s nothing like Paris (if you’re going the first time, though it gets better with future visits too!) Thanks, I haven’t been in Paris since 2018 but we are supposed to go back in the summer. Can’t wait. We are also taking SNCF to Provence and the Riviera. Never been to that part of the country so I am looking forward to the train ride…errr…see that area! 🤣
Excellent video, many thanks. We took this route by TGV First Class in 2014 as part of a Great Rail Journeys holiday on Lake Garda. It's an enjoyable route to travel, but agree with you regarding the windows - what a great shame the views are restricted by the advertising. I think it would put me off travelling by Trenitalia on this route, even with the fabulous luxury in Executive class. Milano Centrale is a fantastic station. I gather the authorities have clamped down on the thieves and pickpockets that were all over the place in 2014. We even had to guard our luggage on the SBB Pendolino (on our return journey) as the thieves were trying to get onboard and steal it from the vestibules.
Really appreciated the opening credits. That was definitely one of your best intros, I reckon, with the drone footage of that big crane thing in Paris (tongue firmly in cheek 😇) The Italians, and Spanish too, really show what's achievable when you invest in public transit. We've let ourselves down in the UK over the last few decades. Other than a few pockets of the country where the trains are generally good, its all a bit of a shambles, with no sign of it improving. Real shame considering the rapid expansion on the continent.
I didn't know there was a train from Milan to Paris--I thought it had been cancelled. Good to know, and thanks for the great photography. I've been on Frecciarossa before, and it's always been a wonderful experience.
Those high speed trains that were built by Hitachi are lot similar to the Pendolinos that were built by Alstom including the Avanti West Coast Class 390 Pendolino.
actually the Pendolino technology was Italian (by Fiat Ferroviaria, used on ETR 450), before the buyout from Alstom in 2000. That's why many intercity high speed EMUs in Europe (including the now inactive Sapsan Russia-Finland) have a similar look to the italian ETR 460 and ETR 600.
in addition to the Pendolino, the Frecciarossa is also a totally Italian project. Hitachi took over the Italian company that still operates and designs on Italian soil.
One of the biggest virtues of traveling by train rather than plane is the view, and there's a lot to see on this route. This video makes it clear that this is not the line to use unless they can guarantee that your seat will have an unobstructed view.
Thank you for this awesome video! Help! What app or website do I use to book this trip? We are going in June, 2024, and I cannot figure out where to book this trip. It may be too early? But even so, even just looking at sooner dates I am not finding this option. Can you help? Thank you!
Hi I have some issue, Im going in April 17th (less than 12 weeks from now) but still theres no route/available Trenitalia Frecciarossa direct from Paris-Milan. Help please 🙏🏻
Update: all train direct Paris to Milan are cancelled because landslide in the Alps, cancelled from Aug 2023 until further notice (it could be summer 2024). Idk why this channel doesn’t know that information.
It’s such a bummer, I’m going to travel this July from Milan to Paris and I have been watching lots video on this long route and wanted to splurge to executive because of the 7hr long ride. But the advertising on the windows might be the only reason that I might switch to business class because of the view, suppose to be incredible going over the alps.
buissness seats on these trains are still amazing. I was sceptical about them as they have less features than older Frecciarossa 500, but when I actually took one it was love at first sight. you just sink in them.
Absolutely - Roma-Npoli, Roma-Milano, Roma Firenze many times, Roma Venezia. The connection to Bari is less good, but a new high-speed line from Napoli is being built.
Great video of what must be a fabulous trip. Shame about the advertising. I love Centrale. I'm an F1 fan and to me Centrale means excitement and anticipation while waiting for the train to Monza. During one GP trip, I took the train from Centrale to Mantova and my avatar is a pic from there. Another favourite station is Amsterdam Centraal. Efficient and friendly and not a bit like Euston!
I really want to try this trip and also the Barcelona-Madrid train Iryo (which is Frecciarosa 1000 train too) nice video! Are you going to try the bew night train on May between Brussels and Berlin?
I hate train wraps and hope I don't get blinded when I ride Exceuitve Class from Milan to Rome next month. I wote Brightline and complained about the wraps that block the view. Ciustomer Service says wraps will come down in January aftermy December trip.
I agree about the windows. I was expect better video with the GoPro when walking and panning. Typically, I don't walk while videoing. This summer we traveled from Montreux to Interlaken on the MOB, Panoramic Express the Prestige Seats are the best so far but it's not a 6+ hour trip. However, the new train is still having growing problems.
1. Favorite station - Gare du Nord. But, to be fair, I haven’t been to Milan and only arrived at Gare de Lyon once and didn’t have time to look around. For modern stations, Berlin Hauptbahnhof is hard to beat. 2. I have been on Trenitalia high speed service but it was a Frecciaargento between Venice and Florence. I’ve also done Italo between Florence a d Rome.
Another criticism I have for Italian high-speed trains (both Le frecce and Italo) is the inabundance of luggage racks. I have traveled on their Business and Prima classes, and it's always a struggle to look for luggage spaces especially if I didn't begin my journey from the train's starting point

And the rest is even better. Milano Centrale may be my second favorite in terms of looks, but the narrow platforms are nasty. And on the modern side of things there is always Berlin Hauptbanhoff.

I have booked several times on Frecciarossa Executive Class between Milano and Firenze, Milano and Roma and vice versa. I prefer the buttery soft yellow leather seats over Italo Executive Class. 👍🏻 All meals that I’ve had have been terrific. 😋. Whilst not priced inexpensive, to me the comfort, onboard service, and quality meals justifies my forking over the $$. Now then, as to the window advertising, I agree … STOP IT! I don’t want my view obstructed! 😡. Where did you find the window that wasn’t covered? 🤔. Btw, Milano Centrale reminds me very much of Washington D.C. Union Station and I marvel at it each time I pass through it. 😉
It's only the first and last coach windows that are covered, and it really doesn't seem to even serve a purpose. But yes Rob, I agree Frecciarossa executive is the gold standard for luxury European train travel 🥰🥰🥰
I can’t seem to find a Rome to southern Italy (Puglia). Have you done this route? I overheard that one doesn’t need to rent a car in this region as the trains are so efficient.
There are direct trains from Rome to Foggia and you can go up or down the coast from there to Pescara, Lecce, Bari etc. Or there's a daily sleeper train to Milan
That advertisement on the windows is enough for me to say No way would I travel on a train that had that…part of the experience is looking out the windows…unbelievable
For centuries we tried to make better windows. Now that we have excellent windows we block them. We used to complain when windows were so dirty that the view suffered, I guess now they don't need to be cleaned anymore. Pure insanity or utter contempt for customers, probably a combination of both.
I don't know when you took the train, but today there was announcement as soon as we boarded that there wouldn't be any food and drinks service until Lyon (and a limited service from Lyon onwards) because the catering company was on a strike. Imagine the executive class passengers, they spent a significant amount of money and they didn't get the full experience. I had a tea, some biscotti and an apple I grabbed from the hotel instead of a full meal.
I know! I wish we got an email but apparently it was last minute. I have food allergies and I can't buy something on the spot, if they had told us I could've bought some vegan food instead of snacks.
Probably won't happen in my country as many jobs in that kind of company would be done by foreigners, who're legally barred from unions (as that's constitute political interference I think)
The window covering is just a no go at that price point! You could save some €100 and get a view if going business class instead of executive. Also, did I hear children in the executive area? Another no go for me if that’s the case! If I pay so much money for a seat, I expect it to be peace and quiet there too, to be able to relax or get some work done if being someone who’s working (I’m disabled myself so for me it would be about relaxing) If wanting to listen to children at all, I’d travel in second class
Exec only has 10 seats and feels like a novelty existing for the pure experience nearly than an actual business class product if I am honest. I think Exec is « more like an Exec class » on more business style routes
An excellent video and thank you for moving from your seat to film the scenery so we could see it. For me this would be a complete waste of money: no view and travelling backwards at high speed would just be frustrating (and nauseating). I would rather save £100 and travel Business. Can you select your seat? At those prices you should be able to. Everyone says these are great trains and I have yet to try one. I look forward to making up my own mind. Thanks for a helpful review.
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes can you select your seat, free in Executivenir for €3 elsewhere on the train. I hope the window coverings get removed, and SOON
I couldn't agree more about the advertisement. Considering that you payed the highest price, you should complain to the operator (it's like paying an outside cabin on a cruise and getting an inside one). Unfortunately, greed of various corporations is spreading more and more and the public transport is infested with all kinds of advertising. It gets worse on urban transportation, where the people not very familiar with the city often get disoriented and miss the stop where they were supposed to get off. It should be banned internationally: after all, obstructed view could actually be dangerous in case of evacuation.
Good video but I wouldn't dream of paying that price to sit behind an advertisement. I've purchased Eurail passes quite a few times now and, apart from being able to travel city centre to centre (usually), the prime feature for me is the view.
As much as I love Italy I think that their stations are anything but traveller-friendly. Super busy, tiny corridors, many shops and Milano Centrale is perhaps the worst of them. 😁 On the other hand, Belgian stations are very similar but much friendlier - there is usually a "Panos" bakery/coffee, nice toilets and just a really good vibe. And it's not just Belgium. Polish larger stations are also quite welcoming, especially Wroclaw, Krakow... Here in Czechia we have fantastic authentic rail pubs around but that's about it - the stations themselves are not very welcoming, especially not for foreigners (excluding Germans - they seem to love our stations for some odd reason). 🤣
And train stations in Paris are dangerous, most of the time foreigners got robbed/mugged/pocket picked. The washrooms are also horrible, hot in summer and freezing in winter.
@@louiscy Too many shady characters that you doubt every person around you. Adding to that is despite written warning not to take authorised taxis, some assholes intercept you on your way to taxi queues trying to peddle private cars for a hefty amount of 50 euros even for a short ride
I am italian and yeah, I agree, italian station are kind of a mess right now but seems improvement are coming soon. On the other side Belgian and French one are quite dangerous.
Goes 300 kph from Paris to Lyon and from Turin to Milan. The problem is those 200 km of slow curvy tracks traversing the Alps. They're currently building a 50 km long tunnel under those mountains, but it's taking a lot because of nimby-ism mainly (besides technical difficulties which were taken into account anyway)
Thanks for the video. Top production! Just wondering why people want to travel to Milan from Paris? We have internet and things like “zoom”. Cannot be for a “spaghetti Milanese” can it?
Wife & I travelled Milan - Chambery & return August 2015 - we were at the World Expo and were meeting up with family who live near to Chambery in France. Wonderful scenary, but the train was not as good as this one (French train). We rode 1st class, seats were comfortable but there were problems, for instance it was easy to locate the toilets from the smell in the corridor outside, on the return the driver was taken sick then the train broke down, on arrival at Milan my wife almost fell off the train because of the high steps down to platform level. Not like in the UK where mostly train and platfrom are at a similar height.
To my mind paying an extra £110 for extra legroom and two very spartan snack meals for a 6 hour journey would be very much a no no for me. On a journey such as this I would welcome an excuse to stretch my legs and walk to the snack bar on the train.
Executive class is a good business proposition for Trenitalia, once I saw the prices. It is three times as much as business class, but in a way still affordable and good value for money for quite a long distance. The math: the room that has these 10 seat will generate 1550 euro's per journey when fully booked. When you put business class in the same room, you'ld create 20 seats max, resulting in 1100 euro's when fully booked. A decent breakfast and lunch doesn't cost them much, so these seats are very profitable for Trenitalia. All the more reason not to have these annoying advertisements blocking the view to those passengers from whom they got maximum profit. In september I'll be traveling quite a lot in Italy and I wanted to try out executive class. Thanks for posting this video, so I'll book business class instead. Good enough and I'll be able to look out of the window!
Mi piace molto il tuo canale, peccato però che non fornisci i sottotitoli in altre lingue come l'italiano. Gosto muito do seu canal, contudo, é uma pena que você não disponibilize legendas em outras línguas como português. I really like your channel, however, it's a pity that you don't provide subtitles in other languages like Italian and Portuguese.
I totally agree with you, this plastered advertising kills it for me and I will certainly NOT take it as long as they have it on. What a shame, I really hope they stop soon!
Bonjour , unfortunately, I highly doubt, that they will give up an easy revenue source. Im afraid your request, will most assuredly, fall on deaf ears. There are direct trains from Rome to Foggia and you can go up or down the coast from there to Pescara, Lecce, Bari etc. Or there's a daily sleeper train to Milan
@@NonstopEurotrip sorry, I meant in your library. To see if you had made a video about that area.
@@2010katak I haven't, sorry!
Would you get a full meal in Executive for a short 90 minute ride from Florence to Rome?
Yep!!
No cafe seating? Are European trains ditching bistro cars with tables and seats?
Some are, some aren't 🙃
That advertisement on the windows is enough for me to say No way would I travel on a train that had that…part of the experience is looking out the windows…unbelievable
Absolutely 🤗
Could you make a film about night train from Berlin to Munich/Zurich or other night train in Europe?
More European sleepers will be coming up later in the year 🙏🏻
Ah, the advertisement is for Trenitalia itself! "Il piacere di un nuovo viaggio" means "The pleasure of a new voyage". Grmpf...
For centuries we tried to make better windows. Now that we have excellent windows we block them. We used to complain when windows were so dirty that the view suffered, I guess now they don't need to be cleaned anymore. Pure insanity or utter contempt for customers, probably a combination of both.
Haha yes 🤣
Great video !!
Thanks!
I’m going to Munich in less than a month. What’s your opinion of the transport there?
Really good!!
@@NonstopEurotrip Ok, thanks!
That's not good!!!
Planning to take this exact journey in the summer!
Have fun 😊
The window covering is just a no go at that price point! You could save some €100 and get a view if going business class instead of executive. Also, did I hear children in the executive area? Another no go for me if that’s the case! If I pay so much money for a seat, I expect it to be peace and quiet there too, to be able to relax or get some work done if being someone who’s working (I’m disabled myself so for me it would be about relaxing)
If wanting to listen to children at all, I’d travel in second class
I completely agree with you! It could be truly amazing with just a few tweeks 😀
Exec only has 10 seats and feels like a novelty existing for the pure experience nearly than an actual business class product if I am honest. I think Exec is « more like an Exec class » on more business style routes
Excellent video!👍
Thank you! Cheers!
I hope the window coverings get removed, and SOON
is it only 1 free meal? you only had breakfast but for such a long trip you should get a lunch?
Yes, as mentioned, lunch is included too
@@NonstopEurotrip i cant see lunch in your video? it would have been nice for you to review it

The Frecciarossa itself is built by the japanese Hitachi so is pretty similar to Shinkansen...
It's built in Italy
Thanks for sharing, cool video!
Thank you 🙏🏻
I couldn't agree more about the advertisement.
Well yeah, exactly 💯😊
Great trip. Despite the sticker wrapping windows is bit annoying, but overall great service.
Absolutely, hopefully the stickers will go soon 🙂
Amazing train
It sure is!
Thanks for sharing. You are correct that it is too bad they plaster the windows with advertisements and spoil the great views of this train route.😊
Yes they do, such a shame 😭
Where is rets?
🤔
Good video but I wouldn't dream of paying that price to sit behind an advertisement. I've purchased Eurail passes quite a few times now and, apart from being able to travel city centre to centre (usually), the prime feature for me is the view.
Great point!
Polish stations are my favourites 😎
@@NonstopEurotrip somewhat Ironically I am Polish and I must say I prefer Austrian, German and Belgian stations to ours.
Is this not a high speed train? And it still take six hours something?
May be make it an overnight sleeper train?
Mountain tracks for the second half, unfortunately!
Could you do a Vande Bharat train review in India? Its a modern train service introduced by Indian railways.

Thanks for the video. Top production! Just wondering why people want to travel to Milan from Paris? We have internet and things like “zoom”. Cannot be for a “spaghetti Milanese” can it?
Because Italy is much nicer than France...
Could be for a Milanese cutlet, a risotto or an ossobuco
Wife & I travelled Milan - Chambery & return August 2015 - we were at the World Expo and were meeting up with family who live near to Chambery in France. Wonderful scenary, but the train was not as good as this one (French train). We rode 1st class, seats were comfortable but there were problems, for instance it was easy to locate the toilets from the smell in the corridor outside, on the return the driver was taken sick then the train broke down, on arrival at Milan my wife almost fell off the train because of the high steps down to platform level. Not like in the UK where mostly train and platfrom are at a similar height.
Sounds like a fun day out 😅🙃
Muito massa. Parabéns pelo vídeo... 👏🏿🤝🏿

Wonderful trip!
Many thanks!

To my mind paying an extra £110 for extra legroom and two very spartan snack meals for a 6 hour journey would be very much a no no for me. On a journey such as this I would welcome an excuse to stretch my legs and walk to the snack bar on the train.
Fair comment 😃
Music is nice!
Thanks 👍🏻

The Italian domestic ones don't have the advertising
@@NonstopEurotrip Nice! Thanks for your info! I might just change my mind and try executive class!
I wonder why high speed trains anywhere in Europe never run during the night.
They do in Germany. But mainly it's so maintenance and track inspection/works can be thoroughly carried out.
The Tourist Movie 😉
Tutto bloccato causa frana nella Maurienne! La linea è semidistrutta.
Fino a metà novembre, se tutto va bene...
Terrible news!
Wow--I sure wouldn't pay a very high price, just to have visibility obscured by advertising. It is an affront to travellers.
Absolutely!!!
Favourite Station is, Antwerp.
Good choice 🙂
Mi piace molto il tuo canale, peccato però che non fornisci i sottotitoli in altre lingue come l'italiano.
Gosto muito do seu canal, contudo, é uma pena que você não disponibilize legendas em outras línguas como português.
I really like your channel, however, it's a pity that you don't provide subtitles in other languages like Italian and Portuguese.
Maybe soon, idk!!
perfect just the windows have this weird view blocker ...
Yes!!

Terrible isn't it 😭
Good news is was busy - so it will not go away anytime soon!

I totally agree with you, this plastered advertising kills it for me and I will certainly NOT take it as long as they have it on. What a shame, I really hope they stop soon!
I am usually frugal but I would of let executive class be my guilty pleasure
Even if you can't see outside?
Bonjour , unfortunately, I highly doubt, that they will give up an easy revenue source. Im afraid your request, will most assuredly, fall on deaf ears.
Train travel 🧳, always feel more interesting to me , than flying. I enjoy disconnecting, and taking a leisurely trip, and enjoying the scenery.
❤ I always enjoy your videos, happy travels.
It doesn't even make them any money, they're advertising themselves 😅 Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
