We had a Ghibli S on a 16 plate for 3 years and 40k miles. It was awesome. Reliable, fast, 30mpg on a run, utterly amazing. Truly underrated.
I have a Ghibli as well and nobody wants to hear its reliable, they want to hear it’s in the garage all the time like a lot of German brands but they don’t talk about…buy what you want not what everyone wants you to drive…
God Joe, you are really doing a great sales pitch on this one lol😂
A diesel engine has no place in a Maserati.
There is no way i'll be in with a chance of winning a Shifting metal rafffle car after this comment, but i've had some wine, so can't resist.... You're supposed to sit on Halfords car seat covers, Not wear them.
HA HA GENIUS
bet his missus gave him a yellow card for buying that!
Test drove a Quattroporte yesterday and the difference between this and that is huge. It’s a shame they couldn’t get this one right, it would have sold in good numbers if it had.
The earlier Quattroporte 5 and Gran Turismo models were made when Maserati was under Ferrari, and they shared many components. They aren't perfect but the naturally aspirated, Ferrari-built V8 engines are amazing - no fakery needed. The later ones were made under Fiat Chrysler and not in the same league sadly.
Joe your one of the funniest car dealers on the market
Thanks!
Funny in br'ish sorts of way, otherways dumb, sorry for breaking it for you mAtE.😂
I am thinking of grabbing one, but I must admit, all those negative comments do have a good sized effect on putting you right off them. I met a couple of guys who said they have two of them, for the last 2 years, no problems at all. Its all those other You tube vids which put you off like expect to pay 3000 pound for disks and pads all round, 20, 000 pound for a service, more if there are some problems ( I joke about how much it costs) but you kind of get the point. Not sure about the petrol versions, like the v6 340 bhp version or the V8. Not sure if they are a bag of problems or not; but every car has its weak points no matter what. But its Italian styling, incredible looks, and for the price, it brings it in many non-billionaire pockets. I am still digging and doing my research on them for now…
Being honest as you are Joe, is very rare for a car dealer ...
The Ghibli is a more mass produced car full of Chrysler parts.
People who buy cheap Maseratis complain about the cost or servicing and repairs.
If you can’t afford the maintenance, you can’t afford the car.
Not that many Chrysler parts.a few switches etc.
@@kurtjammer9568and the engine I believe
The engine is designed by maserati.cast at the Kokomo plant by Chrysler. Then machined on better equipment supervised by ferrari.then is sent back to ferrari and built on similar specs to the f158 engine..parts etc..loosely based on the v6 pentastar.engine but with thicker cylinder walls etc .
Better crank.rods.pistons .repositioned oil filter. Totally different engine.
That’s as base model as it gets. It gets much better with ticked options
How does it drive??????????
You should have driven the version with the ‘flappy paddles’. The diesel engine is from VM Motori. It is the A630HP, with 600Nm at 2.000 rpm. The gear box the bullet proof ZF8HP, form Friedrichshaven, used by BMW, Landrover, Porsche a.o. The exhaust sound system is also used by Audi. If you give consumer information maybe get it right next time.
I gave my opinion, not consumer information. If you’re going to be such a sensitive little baby about your car, don’t watch a video that says I hate it
@@ShiftingMetal Ah, getting personal, very professional. Figures.
@@lolkevandewitte1713 🥱🥱
@@ShiftingMetal as Einstein said; ‘two things are infinite; the universe and human stupidity, although I’me not sure about the first.’ You just proved his theory. So thank you, in the name of sience.
@lolkevandewitte1713 oooh, zinger, you really told me 🔥🔥 The stupidity is you thinking I care about your opinion as much as you obviously care about mine 😂
Volume is a nice big analog dial next to your hand.
Yes, I found it, as stated in the video
I have a heavily modified 2006 Maserati GranSport…I’ve had it since 2007….this car has the Ferrari designed and built V8. I’m a pure Maserati enthusiast…these are the best examples of this marque. The newest Ghibli 334 is surprisingly the fastest 4 door in the world…I’ll take my GranSport over any new Maserati in this day and age…the Ferrari derived V8 is just money baby…so money.
Just traded in a 15 plate one of these which we'd had for over 7 years. Seems they've cheapened the interior as ours had a full leather stitched dash, wood trim and a different infotainment which had a knob either side of the screen to select volume.... and it had heated seats. Sound effects in Sport mode were just daft though.
Yours was just a better spec car. The leather stitched dash was a cost option. You could spend up to £4k on the extended leather package. Heated seats were also a cost option apart from on the Petrol S model. The base Wood trim (Radica) is nowhere near as nice as Piano Black or Ebano. I presume you had Ebano.
The 15 plates infotainment is worse than on this car. This has wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also, bigger screen with a higer resolution.
@@Jimbo8012 interesting. Yes it was an ex demo bought at half price when 16 months old. They likely threw the options list at it but it didn't have any buttons for features that weren't installed which was a plus.
@@neilgorin1037 - Yours sound like it had at least £5k worth of options. You got a great deal as well!
I like the Ghibli, but there was always a massive difference between a base Ghibli Diesel and a fully specced Ghibli Petrol S (especially if it had the extended leather pack and the Bowers and Wilkins sound system). The outgoing V8 Trofeo is an extremely nice place to be. High quality leather everywhere and much better infotainment with a very high res screen and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
I still quite like it 😂 are parts cheap as there either GM or old Mercedes?
if you were gonna give your opinion on the ghibli, then you should have done the new one. not a 2015 model!
But this is the one I have in stock genius
@@ShiftingMetal Then just find some new ones, they aren't that hard to find. You can obliviously go to a maserati dealer and burrow one for a video, or rent one from turro or something. Doesn't always have to be from your stock. And thanks for the compliment.
@@robloxcreator437 - In fairness, a newer Ghibli Petrol with a higer spec will be at least double the price.
Also, Joe's a car dealer who's trying to sell his own cars. His TH-cam channel is largely a side hustle. Why would Joe hire a Ghibli for a video that gets fewer than 25,000 views? Makes absolutely no financial sense whatsoever.
Also, why would a Maserati dealer lend Joe a Maserati? I've never heard of anything so ludicrious in all my life.
People like Joe's channel because he's a down to earth car dealer who tells it like it is even it's sometimes to the detriment of his main business, but they also know he's not a TH-cam channel who merely reviews cars.
@@Jimbo8012 I have heard stuff like lending on multiple channels. How do some channels get their hands on brand new ones? And not all of them get good views as well.
8:49 no heated seats in a Maserati? 😂 wow I can’t believe that, should be standard
He bought the cheapest base model and is upset.
Greg's upset 🥲
thats what you get if you get the cheapest of cheapest. Then option it or get a quattroporte, on quattroporte it comes standard
@@ShiftingMetal Fatman is being cocky
I've been considering a Levante. Same difference I guess
I was on my way down to Berrow Motors with £15k cash in my pocket to buy a white diesel Maserati Ghibli...until youtube recommended that i watched this video, thanks Joe you helped me avoid it. 😁
Happy to help, why would I want you to buy a car you wouldn't be happy with?!
Nice looking fiat tractor

Man moans about base spec diesel car. Get a proper one and have another go
Maybe I will...
Friend of mine had a 300c as a wedding car and a taxi he got rid of it after six months bag of poo .Looked nice that was it
This is what you get if you buy a base spec car from an auction. (No different than a base spec Audi)
This is the kind of consumer information we need. Those other YTs that pretend to give an honest review but are actually chuffed they’ve been given a press car and don’t want to ruin a relationship with the brand so give a weak af review. This is great, more of this please!
Thanks, will do!
Come on I have a Maserati Ghibli SQ4 2014 it's one of the best car I ever driven you're driving diesel what do you expect
Love this guy!
I got very tempted with one of these but knew in my heart of hearts that it wasn't going to live up to the badge and bought a 3.0 diesel BMW instead. Still think I did the right thing, even though I get a pang of jealousy every time I see one.
And what a badge for your German garbage
Horrific car! My old salesman had one! Changing 4 tyres cost him an absolute fortune 😮
If this car is at this price then that means this vehicle has cheap parts and the value will drop tremendously within the 1st year.
I have a 15 plate Ghibli, I'm surprised being a car guy why you would buy this with a diesel engine then complain it's agricultural. Get the petrol!!!
Sorry what do you expect from a dealer who mainly likes German garbage and range rovers that tells me everything
I had a evo x and a s2000 ap2 and the ghibli was the best out those cars
I’m not sure you’re cut out to be a car salesman 😂
Fabulous looking machine that, maybe work a bit on your salespitch 😜,good honest review though fella👍👍
Looks like a 4k loss then?
Im quite disappointed about that 😂 i was planning on buying 1 when i trade in my old XF 😢 but i think that's possibly worse than the 14 yr jag I've got. Best buy a cls
You shouldent take this review seriously. He reviewed a 2015 model not a new one, plus its the cheapest spec ever. Do not listen to a video like this
It's a low spec Ghibli Diesel. Avoid the diesel and get the Petrol V6 S. You'll pay more but you'll end up with a Ferrari assembled V6 that's much faster, sounds way better and has a much nicer interior.
You are not selling this car to us Joe 🤣
that diesel ghibli sounds like a tractor. always get the gas version for as sports luxury car.
I remember putting lollipop sticks in the brakes to go against the spokes on my Raleigh Burner...sounded great..😄
Ernesto had a three pronged wooden ice cream fork in the front wheel of his Lire Cento (penny farthing), ... sounded amazing, Great Minds!
Another great video mate. Hope you are okay and going to have a good bank holiday mate, take it easy 🙂
Kufatec module added to the active exhaust gives 6 different levels of sound including a v6 noise ;)
Totally agree with you on the speaker
lol carwow are you kidding me joe i live on the border of london and tried finding a car but they refused to show me lol
if you hate it just gift it to me 😊
I had one last year for a few months. Always had 'premium' cars. I enjoyed 5k miles in it, does nothing badly but also does nothing spectacularly well.
The engine is a VM Motori so like all the interior switchgear can also be found in a Grand Cherokee.
It is noticeably wider than a Jag XJ which it replaced.
I found the gearlever action infuriating - going between Drive and Reverse quite often ended up with being in Park or Neutral.
Also little ergonomic quirks like the Cruise control switch being cack handed to use.
It's nice in isolation but if you have experience of or have owned its competitors its an 'also ran' or a 5/10 car.
That's why you avoid the Ghibli Diesel and go for a Petrol V6 S. Sounds much better and is a lot faster. Also a lot nicer inside. Still not the best car in the world by any means, but it's a much nicer car.
Not surprised to hear another negative video about the Ghibli.
None of his comments are justifiable, all the rivals in that sector have nasty diesel engines that sound no better, look a damn sight worse with no thought or imagination that goes into the styling & most likely cost a lot more with less performance.
All they ever bang on about is supposed cheap n nasty plastics in Italian cars. 🤷♀️
Plastic is plastic what’s the big deal with how it looks don’t get it 🤷♀️
If that’s so important then follow the crowd & just blend in with the masses.
The exterior is stunning & blows the opposition into unimaginative automotive insignificance.
@@davidpiatto8175 it’s just an opinion, and obviously plenty of people share it. Just because lots of people don’t like your car doesn’t mean you should get upset by it, as long as you like it that’s all the matters surely?!
Brother, you’re driving on the wrong side of the road smh
After that glowing review, I’ll take it🤣
Lovely cars Maseratis- only tiny slight issue is that every time something went wrong … get used to the phrase “ small hole in the rad - that’s an engine out job mate “ - “leak in a hose … no problem mate , first thing I need to do is get the engine out “
New glasses finally Joe 😂😂👌
nice car
Nice video Joe with Brean and Berrow as a back drop.
Extremely honest opinion
It’s not a Maserati it’s a Chrysler
Cope harder
Chrysler 300C…which in turn was based on the 1985 Mercedes W124!😂

Premium 3 series
A diesel Maserati. 🤦👎
Good review. Wow, I've seen fake exhaust tailpipes, but false noises are really taking things to a different level for a sporty car manufacturer.
Quite common, Audi, VW, Porsche, Ford. List goes on.
It's the wrong spec with the greatest respect. Before the Trofeo came out, the petrol V6 was the one to have. Sounded awesome especially with a Larini exhaust. Also, the V6 Petrol in S form is way faster than the diesel. 0-60 in 4.9 seconds and 0-100 in 11.4 seconds with a top speed of 177 mph. They're tuneable as well. You can get 460 bhp out of them very easily and that'll drop 0-60 in 4.4/4.5 ish. With some internal changes, 500 bhp is achievable.
You also need the extended leather package on the dashboard which makes it a far nicer interior. The major issue is that going for a V6 Petrol S and spending money on the interior would have meant a price of at least £20k more.
Did seriously consider buying one, a coupe of years ago, but avoided it for the reasons you mentioned plus very cramped in the rear and very expensive running cost. But still love the shape and brand
I think you will live longer if you concentrate driving the car rather than playing with the display screen, swop it for a VAUXHALL.
Here for a good time, not a long time 😂
You look uncomfortable in that Joe sitting to high ??
That’s a great example of heritage massacred by cheap nasty design. Shame
Engine is FCA not mercedes. Chrysler is part of Stellantis formerly FCA not GM. Lots wrong in this. Right about it being crap though
Hi Joe. I didn't realise this car is the same as the Chrysler, but this Maseratti looks brilliant in White. Very clean car, and it's been up in the years. And yes, the intior does sound very cheap plastic, lol 😆. I bet you're Missus would love to drive it for a while. That Maseratti convertible looks very sexy. It looks like an Aston Martin. Anyway, great video again, Joe. Thanks for all the hard work, bro. 😅👋👋👌🇨🇮
It looks beautiful, but surely a petrol engine would be better suited to an Italian luxury brand, and looking at your other stock I'd go for the Volvo S90.
Lol really sold it to me 😂
Least your honest 👍
Another wonderful name on an average car . Shame .

Yeah that v8 sound is artificial,it's a bit like that advert from 10 years ago ' sounds just like a golf'
I always quite liked the idea of them, but you just put me off lol.
It actually sounds like a tugboat 😅
My preferance would be a Quattroporte Sport GT S. Not built by Fiat.
Love the honesty (that's why I watch you), but... aren't you meant to be selling this car? :)
It'll still sell! There's a bum for every seat!
Bit of reverse psychology at play here😉
Peripheral, taste issues but you're still getting some hardware for the money.
You are snob. Just change for Dacia.😊

👌👌Hi Joe 👌👌
Lol get the impression you dont like it joe !! Not sure i would have done that video to be honest hope you haven't got it on your car stocking plan cause you may have it a while now ....
What can I say, my middle name is 'danger' 😂
It's a good job you don't work as a car sales person 😅 you would never make any money on commission 😅
What a boring video.
Maserati pushed their luck with the v6 gas.. compared to the 4.7 v8 they had available. The diesel should never have been an option.
Finished watching the video... as a dealer, your car knowledge is shocking. GM, Dodge... same, same? Doing a youtube review where you haven't found the volume yet?. I admit, there's a lot to complain about eg... try folding down the rear seat without smashing the rear vent, the shifter has 2 spots fwd and back... it's not intuitive... but the base spec, diesel does not represent the car this is.
My humble suggestion - Try the 427hp v6, SQ4, full spec and let us know.
As a dealer I don't need to have amazing car knowledge and I make no bones about it. I'm so busy buying and selling cars that I don't get to research every feature before making a video and that gives you my honest first impression. I f you want rehearsed and scripted, there's plenty of other channels out there
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
FCA product = no thanks. Cheap and nasty.
Your calling FCA gather you know nothing about cars. Stick to German garbage
