I've been daily driving my entire library off of a WD_BLACK P10 4TB HDD on an OG XB1 for a few years now. Its faster than my internal HDD, so I get less weird texture glitching, and its just plain sexy.
Got my 1tb On Clarence at Walmart, only for 50 bucks. I think I bought my P10A year ago and I was like $69. I believe roughly that of a brand new game and there was a 2 TB. One I actually think I'm gonna enjoy the 1 TB better, especially since it was cheaper kind of wish there was 2, but there was only 1 left on clearance.
I also picked this up at a Walmart today for $52. Should be a massive upgrade for "cold storage" of Series X games, in terms of the transfer speeds back to the internal SSD. The 2018 era external (mechanical) drive that was for Xbox One was is very slow transferring enormous games back and forth. This will free up to go back to using that drive just for Xbox One games. The fact that this can be reformatted to PS5 or Windows down the line is an added bonus. Solid deal.
I’m trying to use this but can’t because it keeps telling me I have to sign in when I plug it in. I am signed in to my Xbox though and now it won’t even show up in my storage location.
Hi! I'm from Argentina. I would like to ask you something: Can we play next gen games if I buy the WD Black D30 expansion disc? For example, can we play Fifa 23, NBA 23 2K, Forza Horizon 5, or future games like FC 24?
The one that's recommended is the Seagate expansion card. P10 and d30 are two different drives. You can go to Western digital's website and look at the breakdown of the models. These drives are alternative solutions for people that don't want to go and purchase the Seagate expansion card. If you want to transfer games faster and you're optimized game and retro games to load faster go with an SSD. If you are okay waiting 10+ minutes and above for a game to transfer at times and are more worried about a budget, go with an HDD. Now remember neither will play seriesius X only games, they will only store your files. The Seagate expansion card is the only thing that can store and play with no issues directly from the card because it's an expansion of the console memory itself, not an external drive
How do I reformate this I went into my disk management window to do so but the formate button wasn't there. It has already been formated to Xbox I need it for pc
@@patricksutter192 YES I bought a 2TB model from Ebay and it works great on the Pro. loading screens are shorter, and texture pop-in is less frequent. It's a very nice looking SSD as well so it'll look slick next to your console.
New to expansion devices for consoles. What happens if I have a bunch of Xbox games saved on the drive then just plug it into my PS5 and start downloading stuff from there on to it? Say I buy the 2TB option can I have 1TB of games from each console then just jump back and forth?
Hi all, I’ve just started using this with an Xbox Series X and noticed very inconsistent drive speeds. Sometimes it’s super fast and then drops to almost half speed? Has anyone else noticed this?
How do you it make it work ?? My husband plugged it in it says not found but then says theirs 931.5 gb of space but won't let us transfer games to it or down load on it ....what do I do
Bought mine from Walmart and I gotta say....I'm a bit disappointed. The fact I have to transfer games back to internal storage just to play them....if I wanted to sit and stare at a loading bar, I would uninstall and reinstall every time I go to play a game. And this cost over $100?!? What's the point....if this is how it functions, they should have added that bit of information on the packaging. Then I wouldn't have wasted my money on this thing.
Do not get this wd black d30 it’s not what it appears. It died in 6 months so I took the drive apart and inside it’s a nvme blue. It’s not even a black drive it’s a scam
I dislike this video because I have a PS five and you didn’t mention its capability with a PlayStation five at all and you only much an Xbox so change the title
This drive is actually more compatible with the PS5 since it supports it's 3x2 gen 2 speeds that the Xbox doesn't. It works great for PS5 to store PS4 and PS5 games. You can play PS4 games off of it. So it's great to use it for your PS5 games and save the internal storage for PS5 games.
Wow, a gaming device without rainbow lights all over.
You mean rgb and there's alot of gaming devices out there that don't have the quote rainbow lights thats mainly with pc not consoles
WD_Black might be pricey, but its fast, reliable, and has s e x a p p e a l
lol LGBT lights

@@Nala_1230 I also have a 1TB Samsung T7 SSD that runs the heavier games for me. Smooths out the frame rate and cuts down load times.
Yea I had that exact setup and just switches to a series S and it all works just fine with the P10, my friends have problems using their D30

Saw this at Walmart today. So does this mean you plug it in and you get more space to download and put more games to play on the system
I saw it yesterday and had to get it before someone else do lol they where 2 left
I assume its a great alternative, also for x1x. Thanks for the video! Saves a lot of time spending on research :)
trying to find a video where it shows the noise volume of those ssd's, but no ones covering this.. -.-
anytime I download a game to it, it has about 140 Mbps but when I get into a game it goes all the way down to 20 Mbps
Going to get one of these for my Steam Deck
How do you take off the stand?
Just ordered 340.00 from Microsoft WD NVME 2tb SSD and already have the 1tb expansion card for the back
I’m trying to use this but can’t because it keeps telling me I have to sign in when I plug it in. I am signed in to my Xbox though and now it won’t even show up in my storage location.
This is a good drive for the PS5 since it supports 3x2 gen 2.
Hola! Alguien sabe si una vez que se pone en la base se puede sacar sin que se rompa? En caso que si, como se saca? Muchas gracias!
whats inside ? SSD or NVME? 3x? 4x?

Mine seems to be working fine but the light in front keeps flashing. Is that normal?
Yeah it’s normal when you play a game that you save or transfer to the external ssd drive it will flash 😊👍👌
Got it today for my Xbox SS, il keep flight sim on it
Can I play the games from that device or is just storage?
Storage. You would have to transfer the game back into PS5
wil this work for storage for WD TV Hub. ?
So if I want use this for both my xbox one X and my windows pc simultaneously can I?
Where do you find the little plastic stand?
It comes with it
What is the difference between the D30 and P40?
P40 uses usb gen 2x2, which is not compatible with Ps5. Ps5 cannot take advantage of the 2x2 speeds.
I want to make Destiny 2 run faster on Xbox one s. The game is x/s enhanced but as I'm using an Xbox one s would this SSD still work?
can you play old games off the dw black d30?
Yes

PS5 is plugged through the front or you may have to format it
Crucial X8 is smaller + faster than D30.

Samsung SSD T7 is fast then this. Transfer speeds of up to 1,050 MB / s reading and up to 1,000 MB / s writing are possible.
D30 can achieve the same speed.. but need to connect with USB 3.2 Gen 2 port.
