  • Man..I'm loving the #headrush #looperboard in this set up! It's a bit of a sloppy jam but I had a lot of fun! #akai #mpcone is providing drums and percussion. #line6hxstomp is my guitar rig brain and the #strymon #bigsky adding some subtle space.

    how did you record the intro guitar without a metronome? or have you found a way to output mpc metronome without it going out to speakers/ monitors?
    thanks

    • @JoshElliottMusic
      @JoshElliottMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ah ha! Nice observation. I’m following the metronome from the Headrush which is in my headphones only. The MPC is only being used for drums here.

    Nice job!
    Question: do you have caps or something on the switches? They look larger than stock.

    • @JoshElliottMusic
      @JoshElliottMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Yes they are the footswitch covers by Barefoot Buttons.

  • @warbucksmusic
    @warbucksmusic 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Noticed the foot switches! I like the modification. Can I ask how you went about doing that?

    • @JoshElliottMusic
      @JoshElliottMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean the foot switch caps? The are called Barefoot Buttons do a search for them. They come in two different sizes so make sure they will fit. It cost me around $100 for all of them. There are cheaper versions on Amazon but not as nice. Hope that helps

    Hey brother great stuff! Does the Mpc work without a pc? Mpc>looper>amp?

    • @JoshElliottMusic
      @JoshElliottMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks! Yep the MPC is totally standalone. I have it into looper as you said.

  • @tylerbruner8203
    @tylerbruner8203 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Had a question for you. If I wanted to run my guitar rig (electric -> guitar looper pedal -> guitar amp) and add in a beat machine like the MPC one could I do the following?
    1. Run the guitar signal through the looper to the guitar tube amp and also run the MPC sampler stuff through the guitar looper pedal to a mixer/ FRFR PA at the same time? Essentially I don't want a beat machine / Sampler running into the tube amp because it isn't designed to handle those frequencies, and I love my amp and don't want to run the guitar signal to the FRFR speaker. For what is is worth I was looking at grabbing the Boss RC-600 looper. Thoughts or any suggestions would be great.

    • @JoshElliottMusic
      @JoshElliottMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't have the Looperboard anymore (now on the RC-600) So not sure about the routing options. I know you can do this on the RC-600. That said I gave up guitar amps almost 10 years ago now. Live looping in my opinion just works so much better when using a direct guitar set up. (Such as the HX Stomp) But I can understand if you want to keep your amp :)

    Hi! Great looping tune! The Mpc is not midi synced here? Thanx!

    • @JoshElliottMusic
      @JoshElliottMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! That’s correct…no midi sync here I’m just using the MPC as a sound source.

  • @VellonWepa
    @VellonWepa 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would you recommend this or the areos singular sound looper for solo performances?

    • @JoshElliottMusic
      @JoshElliottMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. I’m not familiar with the Aeros. I feel there are better options on the market now like the RC-600 and Loopy Pro. Check out the performance chapter in my latest video to see a little of what Loopy Pro can do. th-cam.com/video/XjDSzBImJAM/w-d-xo.html

    I have the same setup going on, I have sequenced stuff on the MPC and want it to send midi clock to the looperboard to keep it in time, but I find the looperboard is getting variable midi clock info. Do you experience this as well?

    • @JoshElliottMusic
      @JoshElliottMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Adam. In this video I don’t have any sync going on. Only Audio. However With every looper I have used when I sequence midi I use the looper as master clock. I find loopers tend to not like following clock as the midi fluctuations cause audio artifacts. If anyone knows anything different let us know. Thanks for the sub man!

    this was great,
    what are you prefering, the MPC one or the octatrack ?

    • @JoshElliottMusic
      @JoshElliottMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey I appreciate that Kenneth! I would say I’m preferring the MPC One. It really depends on the use case however. Lately I’m just using the MPC one as a sound source for drums. The Octatrack is a completely different beast and I sure learned a lot in the short time I owned it. Sometimes I wish I still had the Octatrack. I would say sampling on the MPC is much more straightforward and powerful. The Octatrack has some quirks that I never dove into that I think could be fun with a loop station synced up. Maybe I’ll buy one again some day haha.

    What pedal are you using to start/stop the loops? That’s my biggest issue right now with the placement of start/stop on the Looperboard.

    • @JoshElliottMusic
      @JoshElliottMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a Disaster Area Midi Baby converting a Footswitch message to a midi message the Looperboard can respond to.
