The most anyone would pay for a entire phone replacement, under AppleCare if they damage their phone and it cannot be repaired is $99. Otherwise issues that are determined to be hardware based, with no software or environmental solution, and the device is not physically damaged qualifies for free repairs or replacements, if something isn’t repairable. You have the wrong information

Let me point out a couple important points here for those reading
    1) Not all AppleCare plans need to come with theft and loss coverage (shown here as $69), but the way the cost of repair is presented makes it look as if they do.
    2) Comparing a one time out of warranty cost for screen replacement on a 14 pro max at $379 vs one under AppleCare at $298 is inaccurate, because the actual charge that you pay at the time of service is $29 for a screen replacement. The way it is presented here makes it look like apple charges $298 for a screen replacement under AppleCare; when in reality, you factored in the one time charge for the warranty to bulk the number up.
    3) Phone replacement for a severely damaged phone is $99 under all AppleCare plans; replacing a LOST phone under the theft and loss coverage is $149; a difference you fail to mention as well.
    4) Carrier insurance is not as comprehensive as AppleCare and apple support; where the former merely does device swaps based on criteria; the latter offers both hardware repair and device swaps based on more nuanced and extensive set of protocols and criteria.
Now I do not care one way or another how anyone wants to use or treat their phone; but I am entirely against poorly constructed reportage such as this.

You are talking about iPhones. This is my story about Apple Care Plus for Macbook Pro M1Max with 4 TBytes SSD and 64GBytes of RAM. I bought this computer in Denmark to do video editing and color grading to my documentaries.
I moved to Buenos Aires and working on my projects and suddenly the MacBook dead. I called Apple becsuse the Apple Care Plus I have will cover also in Argentina. I went to the official Apple Reseller which Apple told me to do. However, the looked at the specifications and said. “This is not possible because it is a custom build MacBook Pro”. In Argentina max SSD is 1 TBytes and max 32GB RAM. So they don’t have spareparts. So I could not use my Apple Care Plus which I paid a lot of because I can not work without computer in my work. Normally you will also a possibility to have a machine when they are repairing, but that service is not in Argentina! So Apple Care useless 😡
I found another not official Apple store but he was a certified Apple repair guy. He fixed it (it was the M1 proccesor)!

They don’t repair it. In 10 minutes you have a new device. Bring in one that has been molested, drowned, harassed and assaulted with those pesky nails sticking out everywhere. If you take it to a third party, you may get great service and you may not. Pricing may seem reasonable until it isn’t. If you buy a case for $60 dollars you are less likely to break your screen. If you don’t buy a case your far more likely to have a surplus of $60 and a much more pleasant to use device that has already become…..tough as nails.
Reasoned fluff content my man, but statistics regarding procreation and if your BA is really BS are FAR less relevant than if you invested (poorly) in a case and the exact metrics ‘do I break shit a lot’ & ‘do I use this thing a lot.’ Also….’how f*cked am I REALLY if I suddenly don’t have it’
