Can't say this video actually helped my decision, but I just purchased the AC+ for my MacBook. Wasn't sure its worth it, but I do commute with it every day and it worth is for the peace of mind. Just upgraded though from a 2015 air, and never had any issue with that one, but I did spend a lot more this time so thought it was a good idea. Having AC+ on my iPhone however I never doubted, that is an obvious one for me. I seldom get by a year without at least breaking the glass once.

If you call apple customer support & have an issue with your apple product and they try to send you to best buy, politely reject & say you rather go to a apple store. The service at best buy is no good.

Good job explaining how that works and what the advantage/disadvantages might be. I for one have never purchased this feature mostly due to the high cost. At least Apple offers it but doesn't mean a user has to sign up.

My MBP (M1 Max…) is used daily, but is almost always on my desk at the house. One morning about 8 months into ownership I opened the case to start work and there was a big red line down the screen. I did nothing to damage the screen but there it was. Apple was great and replaced the screen quickly and when my computer came back I noticed I was eligible to get AppleCare+ for $400. After some careful consideration I went for it. This laptop was over $3k and there are so many integrated components that could develop an issue after the 1 yr warranty period.

With the “battery replacement when under 80% maximum capacity” clause, I am a bit sceptical: in my extensive usage of 2 of my iphones se (2016) they never indicated the max capacity below 80%. Surely the gauge was gradually decreasing from the initial 100% but it almost felt like it “hit the wall” at 80% as if apple wanted somehow to prevent people claiming this insurance for the battery. But let’s be honest those phones i am talking about had super dead batteries, it felt actually much less than 80% of the initial capacity left in them.

I didn’t really use the applecare+ that I got for my iPhone 12 Pro Max when i got it. I paid upfront and the cost was $260 for 2 years. The day before applecare expired, I felt like this was a bit sh*t of a deal so I called them and told them that my phone was damaged beyond repair and ordered them to send me a replacement. The deductible was about $100 and the tax was about $100. They also put a $1400 hold on my credit card which they released when I sent the old phone in. So for about $450 I got a replacement phone after 2 years. I smashed the old phone with a hammer and sent it back to them. I honestly haven’t decided if I think this is worth it yet. It’s definitely cheaper than buying a new iPhone 14 pro max, but it’s still a 2 year old model… so you don’t get the new features. It does help to have a phone with a new battery and it’s slightly less beat up and doesn’t have the tiny scratches that my old phone did. I think it’s a decent path if you don’t care about the new features. FYI the reason my 12 pro max costed so much is because it had the 512 gb of storage.

I’ve had to use AppleCare each and every time I have bought a new Mac since 2014. Most of the time it’s battery (return once and swelling 3 times on two separate machines). Without AppleCare I might as well buy a new machine, so I have always found it worth it. BTW I don’t mistreat or move around my Mac a lot, but geez, it’s usually hardware failure on Apple’s side that they usually don’t acknowledge that it’s a problem. I recently purchased a new iPhone 13 mostly because it went on promotion at at&t for $5 a month. I used to work at an at&t store then went to a dental office. I never felt the need to purchase AppleCare+ due to the fact my phone (iPhone X then 11 Pro) always had a screen protector and case at all times (I occasionally would rock my 11 Pro with no case bc it was the Midnight Green color). Until this year when I started working as a pool cleaning technician, sadly my iPhone 11 Pro fell and the back completely shattered. No insurance through at&t nor AppleCare+ so I had to resource to buying a refurbished iPhone XS which was what I could afford. I’m still a pool technician so this iPhone 13 is going to have AppleCare+ PLUS the strongest of cases & screen protectors lol

It's a tough decision to make. I have work macbook pro that was one of the last intel models, and I've had it for 4 years now with 0 issues. My imac has become unsupported so I decided to finally upgrade myself with a new mac book pro. My iMac is over 10 years old and I had 0 issues with that as well. My work laptop and iMac is making me not want applecare because they both have worked great with no issues. So I'm hoping this laptop will also work great, but it was so expensive that I'd hate to not have the insurance. I think I might end up getting it just for the peace of mind but I have a feeling I'll never use the insurance. I wish it were a little cheaper though.

It worths any model price about higher than 1199 us.
but for base model like MacBook Air m1 which you can find at about $790 us, it is cheap and if you can ensure that you will not have accident, Applecare+ does not worth it. M1 chip is so efficient and as I use my air M1 for 3 months, battery cycle is just about 30. Battery will never degrade lower than 80% in 3 years for common usage. Air M1 hardware is also very stable. There is not much report about failure.
instead of buying AppleCare+, you can save money and after 2 or 3 years, adding it for buying newer model.

    So, GUYS! Help me out.
I always buy an otterbox case for my iphones. Otterbox Defender. And a screen protector.
So, that's the one I have for my current 14 Pro Max. I got me the 1TB version because i wanted a lot of memory to last me a long time without needing to upgrade.
My prior phone was the 12 Pro Max 128gb and same thing; I had the Ottberbox Defender & screen protector.
During the 2yrs or so with my 12, it literally only cracked the screen protector just once. But i never replaced it since it was just the screen protector lol
Mind you with some of the work I do , my phone can drop from High places like a ladder or scaffold, or slips from my pockets or kinda toss it on tables lol
a bad habit of mines (not clumsy tho lol)
but that case protected it so well.
Even my old iPhone 8, same thing otterbox and screen protector and that one never cracked or anything.
So, with the 14, I'm thinking of getting AppleCare+, mainly to have it for a battery replacement ? Worth it?
my 12 pro max was getting annoying since i had to be charging it 2x a day, and my whole World like revolves being on my phone always. Plus it ran out of memory too
But would applecare+ be worth it for battery? the damages and unlimited repairs doesn't really wow me given my case that i use (i'm the paranoid guy who never wants to use slim cases despite how much more you can appreciate the beautiful iPhone lol) Seems you still have to pay for the battery anyways with applecare+, so idk?
So, curious to hear everyone's thought here?

I think it's wrong to only consider Applecare in terms of accidental damage. Another benefit of Applecare is the extended warranty on parts in the product that might develop faults over time which can be very expensive to repair over time. My Macbook Pro developed a screen defect, had never dropped it out damaged it, Apple replaced the screen and the bill that was shown to me would have been 700 dollars had I no cover. So, Apple's hardware isn't perfect and things can go wrong over time after the one year warranty is up, and so having a warranty extended to 3 years, even for people who take care of their products, can be important, especially it's a high spec custom Mac, especially due to how tightly integrated and difficult to repair the new Macs have become that it makes more sense now than it did 10 years ago. I don't get Applecare for iPhones or other products as they generally cost me under a thousand to buy new and as they have a one year upgrade cycle compared to a 2 year for Macs, they depreciate much faster and so you'd likely be able to simply buy a cheap replacement after a year anyway with lots of them being sold cheap on the used market as people want to upgrade to the latest model.

Dude - the sheet which tells you the prices is wrong says iPhone AppleCare is 3.99 per month or 79 dollars. That hasn’t been true for many years.

I like to have applecare at least for the first 2-3 years. Im paying 1500 plus cad for something i dont want to risk something going wrong and being out that when i could have just paid the extra and have that peace of mind. Even more so when you have a laptop you paid 3-4000+ for.

Me: i just bought an new iPhone 14 gonna but the insurance.
Apple: announcing the new iPhone 15, iPhone 14 is obsolete.
Me: still paying insurance for and obsolete devices.
Apple: don’t worry we’ll give you a new iPhone 14 if it breaks.

To me it is def worth it, I had to use AppleCare+ on almost all my devices. The first iMac screen was cracked cuz I was moving between apartments, got it fixed for free. Then 2nd iMac's hard drive died, got the whole iMac replaced for free AFTER my AppleCare+ had expired. 3rd iMac which is the one I am using now, the Apple Silicon iMac, bought it back in March, and now is Jun, the bottom screen had a grey line across, went to the Apple Store and they told me this is under the one yr warranty so they gonna replace the screen for free, without warranty it will cost $770 USD (although this has nothing to do with AppleCare+ since it's still within the standard warranty, I bet this imac will break too knowing apple crappy quality.) That's just for iMac. Now the iPhone, I started to use iPhone since iPhone 4G, and I always buy the AppleCare+, and I had to use AppleCare on all of the iPhones other than the iPhone 11 pro max, 12 pro max. The hassle-free experience is just so good.

All this told me was that you experienced an unlucky streak with apple products breaking down quickly. If all these devices have malfunctioned so badly that you needed them replaced or fixed only a few months afterwards....maybe the quality of them isn't that great then. :(

I always say what they charge an Apple Care insured for repairs is basically what they could and SHOULD be charging everyone, but won’t. Because they want to sell insurance. When they say Apple Care gets you a new iPad screen for $49 bucks, that’s not them taking a hit because you have Apple Care. $49 bucks is what Apple can replace a screen for without losing any money as a company. So that NON-insureds are paying a $550 penalty should THEY ever need that iPad screen replaced. All smoke and mirrors.

So they charged me 1000$ after I already got my refund from the 1000$ hold and no email as to why I was charged I had to contact apple and am dealing with trying to get a refund because they didn’t Inform me when I wanted to do the replacement method.

    • @hustlawg
      @hustlawg ปีที่แล้ว +1

But not everyone wanna use a case on their phone. Some people like using their phone naked because they are designed to be used like that. Apple didn’t create the best designs and build for the iPhone just so you can put a case on it lol. Screen protector is a must tho but a case not really. But that’s your own phone/money , so do what you want , I’m just sayin. I have an iPhone 13 starlight and I love the way this phone looks especially the color it makes it look so premium

I highly recommend it for AirPods. Personally I’ve had a lot of issues with them over the years. Either one will stop charging or be finicky to actually get to charge. Or one of the drives starts to warp deep base in one ear and sounds awful.
AppleCare is much cheaper than buying a new singular AirPod or a case.
