i used to take in strays with the thought of wanting to find them homes. Soon i had 22 dogs . i was ragged and the puppers suffered. I couldn't give them all the love then deserved. I just had the energy to feed and clean after them. I had to find them homes. I felt so much love knowing they have new forever homes getting all the cuddles and loves. Just remind yourself of this if it becomes hard to resist.
I wish people would stop looking at animals as accessories or temporary fancies. They're living beings and depending on their lifespan, lifetime commitments. But now we get Pretty Pastel's Pidgeon Paradise. A worthy crusade indeed.
I was nervous at the Mercedes man bird drop off, it did seem sketchy. Getting these birds to accept Alex's touch and tape removal was amazing to watch. I admit that the lice issue does bother me, not sure I could handle that aspect of the care. However just watching two feathery beings in less distress than they were 24 hours ago, was a privilege to watch. But, I still want to know...WHAT'S IN THE BOX.
I 100% relate to you calling the (arsehole) pigeon selling bloke as an absolute last resort. I hate having to make phone calls to anyone I don’t know. It’s peak adulting, and I have to psych myself up to it every time.

I literally proclaimed OMG out loud when you showed me those poor birds in that box. When you said they were big birds I did not quite realize just how big. Those poor things cannot move at all. It would be too small for 1 bird let alone both of them. But what pretty birds they are. They deserved so much better. They are lucky to have you now.
Look I very much think that today does count as tidy up Tuesday, you’re tidying up rescued pigeons. They are such beautiful birds, I love that lighter tan color on pigeons. That and black and white are my favorites. They will be lovely additions to the pretty pastel family 🕊🏠🕊🏠🕊🏠

Such a good video, I’m a vet nurse and I just learned so much! I love pigeons and crows and urban birdies in general, my heart even has a soft spot for ibis and I’ve been lucky enough to look after a few at work. We get heaps of fledgling and teenage pigeons at certain times of year. This birducational content is giving me life! 🕊🐦❤️

I'm so angry I literally want to turn off the video and come back when I'm calmer, but I know Alex will take care of them. The only reason I'm still watching. She's such a lovely person. If she does create a rehab center for birds, I would fully donate to help take care of them.
Hoarding the birds probably sounds very tempting, but i think you would be able to help soooo many more birds if you adopt them out as they get rehabilitated. Which will be better for the birds in the long run 💕. You're doing a great thing, alex!
You’ve absolutely made me fall in love with pigeons. We have budgies, but before we got marriedI knew very little about birds. Now we have the indoor birds (the budgies), the outdoor birds (wild house finches and ringneck doves), and the raptors at the education center that I go see every week. Thank you for opening your heart and knowledge to us all and to these beautiful souls. Heartbreaking to see anyone hurt birds.
I can only imagine the amount of birds that are living in these terrible conditions. I think you starting this bird rehab is your calling!!! You're so good with them. It's sad to see they had tape on their wings. You've give these birds a second chance of having a beautiful life. Just don't overwhelm yourself with too many. Make sure you can handle what you're bringing in.
I'm so sad that they had taped wings for probably several months and were treated so badly. They are such beautiful birds! Love their colors and the fluffy feeties. I hope they will become healthy soon with your care!
I've been rescuing pigeons for 3 years in the US! Bless you for what you're doing! And yes, you do get attached. It's hard to let your fosters go. But it allows you to have room for more. Keep spreading the word about how wonderful these birds are! They make such wonderful pets!

Those poor birds... When I rescued my cat (from Facebook!) He was in awful condition with a huge flea infestation and half his fur missing. Now he is soft and fluffy and happy. I cannot understand humans sometimes

The technique you were talking about is called negative reinforcment (mathmatical, taking away something they dont like = pressure when they relaxe) it's the same with the way I work with horses, it's so intersting seeing it done with other animals like brids, thank you for them !

I am absolutely in love with these two coffee colored birds. I am already heavily invested. and my heart just broke seeing how they were left. I feel like maybe the man dropping them off knew it was shoddy... and did not want any identifying marks or whatever. I don't know, they're in great hands now and honestly, you should keep them as your first rescues of the new sanctuary :)

You really know what you are doing! When you talked about the cyst on Errol i thought if a vet shouldn't have done the removal but it seems like he's doing so well! I feel like the new ones know they are in good hands now, so well done Alex! and i quite like the idea of a little bird rescue center :) Maybe adopting them off later will be easier if you think about the space that would open up for other birbs that need help, just a thought on the side :) have a great day ❤️

I'm so relieved they're free of tape and going to get their lice treated. The idea of any birdy crawling with them and suffering both makes me so sad and shudder at the ick but then I think back to manually removing mites off my poor hamster (thanks infected pet shop wooden hidey house). OMG why do people do this to animals it really pisses me off & makes me sick!!!! I cannot stand when someone gets a puppy & when they realize that said puppy is bigger know not a (cute) little puppy they get rid of said dog, I can't stand any animal being abused or neglected!! This is brilliant material of what to do such as the head bobbing. I’m a bit nervous to make pigeon noises in my garden 😅 but I’m trying to convince a feral to let me take the string off of his toes. Also I think his mate has one of those cysts you were talking about. I saw a lump on his/her wing.

OMG why do people do this to animals it really pisses me off & makes me sick!!!! I cannot stand when someone gets a puppy & when they realize that said puppy is bigger know not a (cute) little puppy they get rid of said dog, I can't stand any animal being abused or neglected!! There needs to be more people like you & me!!! I adore you, Alex.

I have never thought of myself as a bird person, but watching you rescue these babies makes me so happy that people like you exist in the world. I can't imagine how these poor babies lived and having just gotten a rescue dog I know that they will be so well taken care of with you.

I love when you give bird tips :) I have a cockatiel who is really scared of leaving her cage and I’m trying to get her used to human touch. She’s too content in her big cage to deal with the anxiety of leaving it for some reason, so hopefully some of your tips will help.
I have to ask what type of birds they are cause I wish to draw them. They are so cute and I'm happy someone that absolutely loves them is helping them. Mother of the birds!
She mentions it at 40:48 . Couldn’t quite catch it, sounded like ‘le hors’ to me but Google came to the rescue, they are ‘Lahore pigeons’. 😊

oh goodness alex i cannot express my goodness excitement that you’re the official pigeon ambassador!!! i rescued an ex-racer from the street a year ago and she has changed my life. so loving and affectionate and has chosen my partner and i as her husbands! very thankful she was in good condition when we rescued her, nowhere near errol or these babies. keep doing you and sharing the pidgey word of wisdom! youre a gem in this world alex 🐣
