"no plans for it" - Desert Tech But if we show DT that there would be an interest for it, we might just convince them to look into the idea further. I try to consistently comment and post when I see anything regarding an extended version, without spamming them too much. My advice would be to continue showing interest, but also accept that the answer might always be 'no'. I remain hopeful.
The price tag is insane though for a bipod. There needs to be an aluminum leg option. $500 is what you pay for an Atlas or ultra premium tier PRS shooter would use to take mile shots. Not battle rifle stuff.
Like Laventador in the comments, I've had a similar issue. No matter how many times I call, email, or contact the sales department through the website, I can't get a reply. I understand you guys are swamped, but it is a tad frustrating. Hopefully this issue gets buffed out soon
I just ordered an MDRX chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor from Desert Tech. Will it come standard on the gun? & if not can I just order this to come on the Gun? I will not want the standard handrail so it’s a waste to have it put on. Thank you.
@@DesertTechUT ok. Thank you. Having it as an option to order with or without the Mantis from the Factory would be a beautiful option to have when ordering an MDRX. In my opinion 🍻
I still don't get why this is 500$, its marked up a lot. Honestly there is the thing called the UTG D Grip (50$), or a actual military grip pod (120$). Both of them are vertical foregrip bipods of high quality and durability. If your bench rest shooting the mdr or not moving much you wont notice a regular bipod anyway. If your doing drills running around larping etc.. the vertical fore grip bipods make more sense because they deploy and retract instantly and smoothly with one hand. Also the M-lok slots on the side seem to be really close to the QD sling mounts, What if I had a inforce wlmx Gen 2 Mounted on the same side I want to put my sling on? Wouldn't the length of that light interfere with that QD Sling mount? If you have tested that please tell me.
@agen7 dea7h, This is how I see it: This is a product that is a collaboration between two companies (Desert Tech and BLK LBL), which inherently comes with a lot of overhead. Even if you completely ignore that fact, all the other BLK LBL bipods are also at least $500. BLK LBL knows full well who their target market is: the people willing to pay a premium for more functionality with a very minimalist footprint. You will probably never find any DT or BLK LBL products on any budget build guides, but you do generally get what you pay for. Also, I spoke with someone from DT directly about the issue with the light a few weeks ago (I had the exact same concern), and while they did some testing for me, they didn't have the equipment to test all possibilities. They suggested (and I believe this would remedy your concern) try using a cantilever M-Lok rail to mount the light. Alternatively, we could show DT that there would be interest in an extended version of the Mantis which would probably solve the issue along with many more, but that would be a very long term solution. I remain hopeful.
READ BEFORE YOU BUY - - The BlK LBL Mantis is great in theory, but needs improvements. It works as advertised if you do not plan on running a suppressor muzzle device and wish to conduct caliber exchanges. If so, due to the extremely narrow inner diameter, you will have to remove you muzzle device every time you want to remove the Mantis to conduct a caliber exchange. Know your dimensions prior to purchasing. I bought one and can’t use it due to my running either OSS or Rugged suppressor muzzle devices.
Literally cannot wait to get mine! It cannot get here soon enough
Genius design!
It’s ordered in FDE... worth the wait I’d say..... and why? Because we can and it’s cool?
This reminds me of the integrated bipod on the keltec su16 and steyr scout
Will there be an extended version in the future? I like the length of the extended handguard on my MDR
no plans for it

Well, its not just a bipod so...
Any chance this handguard/bipod will be available for the Trek 22? Would be really awesome to finally have a integrated bipod for the 10/22 market!
unlikely
@@DesertTechUT thanks for the response :)!
Impinge on a forward grip?
depends on the grip, but most of the ones we have tried work fine.
Will there be a long, suppressor compatible, handguard which fits the 20inch barrel in the future?
no plans for it

That is really too bad :'(

No, the Mantis is an accessory, and comes separately.

Desert tech is very hard to contact over the phone. The costumer service is very difficult to reach!! Sucks!!:(
When we answer phones, people get mad we aren't building rifles. When we build rifles, people get mad we dont answer phones.
Have you tried email?
@@DesertTechUT why are u replying to YT comments? build & ship my Rifle 🤣
(mostly kidding)
@@mymemoryarchive you dont want me touching your gun, Im bad luck...
@@DesertTechUT ill take my chances🤞send it 🤣🙏
will this fit with overbarrel suppressors?
no
@@DesertTechUT thanks for the quick clarification!
I'm trying to choose the mantis but I ordered it when it released and it still hasn't shipped yet :'(
It should be on the way!
Why DEsert tech is very hard to contact over the phone??
