Blackest Night was my way into a lot of the wider DC universe. But the event and its tie-ins do such a succinct and powerful job getting to the emotional core of these characters that I cared about them almost immediately.
It has been a while since I read Blackest Night so I may be misremembering this but Dove is radiating the White Light of Life which is the antithesis of the Black Lantern power as explained in your last video (part 1). Every being has this white light in them bcuz they are alive but living is chaotic and so the white light is split into the spectrum that we recognize as specific emotions. Hawk and Dove are avatars of the Lords of Chaos and Order, respectively. Whereas Hawk embodies chaos and his/her emotions fluctuate all over the place chaotically, Dove's emotions are ordered so that they coalesce back into the that white light. That's why the black rings couldn't revive Don Hall and why Dawn Granger, whose life force is enhanced by a connection to embodiment of order and peace, radiates in white light that can annihilate black lantern rings. I don't think this will spoil what's to come bcuz anyone can figure this out with the information from the story so far and a basic knowledge of Hawk and Dove. Note: At this time Hawk and Dove were just known as avatars of chaos and order having bonded with a lord of order and lord of chaos who fell in love and used the humans to prove order ans chaos could work together harmoniously. It wasn't until the New52 and the return of Rob Liefeld to launch of a new title that they became avatars of war and peace that are empowered by the lords of order and chaos. I didn't read that book bcuz of Liefeld so Idk all of the details
I like this explanation for why an Avatar of Peace/Order can resist a Black Ring a lot! Obviously this event was already doing a ton of different things, but if we ever get another iteration of Blackest Night I'd love to see them tackle how someone like a monk, who's experienced with meditation or gifted at regulating their emotions, fare against the Black Lantern Corp. They probably wouldn't win a direct conflict, but they'd probably make great messengers on the battlefield!
I really love how much this event put focus on Hakw and Dove, it's a shame they don't have much to read on them after this because I became a big Dove fan from this run, could've easily given the special power to any a list hero but giving it to her and her predecessor made it special Also I went and looked at the Donna panel you mentioned and it really was needlessly graphic, wish they never added it.
Do you think Jeremy Adams or future writers will acknowledge this, since Jeremy Adams did brought back Donna’s Son along with Mr. Terrific’s son, Tempest’s and Dolphin’s son.
By any chance, do you ever think you'll make a video of the Marvel version of Green Lantern? I know there's a lot, and I wanted to ask: in your opinion, who's the closest character from Marvel comics that is like Green Lantern? Thank you, love your channel. Can't wait for the next Blackest Night video
1)Dr Spectrum is closer to being Marvel's version of Power Ring, GL's Earth-3 counterpart from The Crime Syndicate. 2) Nova and the Nova Corps is Marvel's equivalent of GL and the GLC. Initially, Novas were less powerful and expansive than the GLC but recent storylines have increased their power and influence in the MU. Now they're a mix of the GLC and DC's L.E.G.I.O.N. 3) The Kree Accuser is a pastiche of a GL in the same way the Shi'ar Imperial Guardsmen are pastiches of DC's Legion of Superheroes. The Accusers' weapon and badge of service is the Universal Weapon which basically can do the same things as a power ring but not as powerful. The Kree also have an ancient group that are the predecessors to the Accusers called the Pursuers reminiscent of the Manhunters and how they are the predecessors of the GLC.

I like that explanation a lot. Dove emitting the white light has confused me for years, so thank you for making it make sense.

Please cover Blackest Night Batman, it’s especially impactful for Tim Drake and Dick Grayson
Hope you're having a good day
