Jadestone has become a really cool supporting Lantern character and I hope he sticks around for at least a little bit.
I'd completely forgotten Dove had a connection to the White Lanterns, would be cool to see that explained now.
The special makes me think we're leading into a new massive Lantern event which is kinda like a Civil War within the Green Lantern Corps. Guardian loyal lanterns like our heroes on one side and UP Lanterns loyal to Thaaros on the other, can't wait to see it unfold

I really didn’t expect to love the gray ring as much as I do but man I’m a total sucker for smoke effects and passive aoe abilities

I can speak about Hawk and Dove. You are correct, they really haven’t done anything after their abysmal New52 series. They appeared briefly in Titans Hunt, the prelude series leading up to the Rebirth Titans series, but never appeared after that. They may have also appeared in those short-lived Walmart exclusive Teen Titan books that were made for the sake of the Titans show, but their cannonicity is debatable as I haven’t seen them referenced in anything since their publication.
It seems writers have *wanted* to use Hawk and Dove, but the creative teams keep backing out at the last second. Idk if it’s because the writers decided to just focus on fewer cast members for the sake of scope or if they got pushback from higher-ups, but it’s a damn shame as a LOT of stuff revolving around the Lords of Order and Chaos has changed in Doctor Fate and JL Dark stories and would directly impact them. Maybe DC doesn’t know whether they should keep their connection to the Lords or just return them to the classic origin of being avatars of War and Peace? It’s easy to write a story for either origin, as JL Dark has demonstrated the positive/negative sides of Order and Chaos and that theme can easily be transplanted into a story about the just and unjust versions of war and peace.
TLDR Hawk and Dove haven’t done anything significant and it’s a damn shame.

Thank you! I really appreciate you clearing that up, and I agree it's a shame that these characters haven't been used more over the last few years. Hopefully Dawn's cameo in this issue means that dry spell is coming to an end.

The problem with the sorrow lantern is that hes more likeable than the hero that we're supposed to be rooting for. Hal and Carol have always been very toxic people as far as their love lives are concerned. Hal comes back to Carol between his various hookups and Carol keeps jumping into temporary marriages to keep herself occupied. It doesn't feel like true love. It feels like a situationship.
Instead of Nathan being an enemy of true love, he comes off as an innocent guy here to call out some selfish people who hurt him. The worst part is that we have yet to see Nathan's bad side. So far, he's been a good guy trying to do the right thing.

Yeah nothing wrong with that for Nathan as character plot right now

Well, that tracks for Hal and Carol. Seriously, they're better off not being together. They're better off being single

@@seeleunit2000I would like to position that they aren’t. Like they are toxic apart as well. The solution isn’t spliting them apart but letting them grow

Natasha is not John Irons' daughter. She is his niece. Her dad is Clay Irons aka Crash and is a smuggler and arms dealer who Steel put away.
I know you mostly concentrate on GL content regardless of the channel and Steel is usually a back up character in the last decade or so. So I'm just here to helo out my favorite GL youtuber. Keep up the good work.

You are absolutely right, I completely forgot that Natasha is his niece, and I thank you for pointing that out. It feels like a million years ago since I read the first few issues of Steel's ongoing series in the 1990s, and his relationship with Natasha was a big part of that book. Maybe this is a sign that it's time for me to go read some Steel comics, and brush up on the lives of these characters when they're not part of someone else's supporting cast.

The Sorrow Lantern is working just as I hoped he would. When he amplified Dove's worst feelings, he hobbled her with her own emotions. This sets up a perfect metaphor for a conflict with Green Lantern : the will to keep going vs the anchor of despair.
Btw, I laughed heartily at "everybody's new best friend, Jadestone." 😂

I was happy but a skeptical to see Carol apart of the newest Justice League lineup but this is just making for a perfect transition for that

Great review! Thank you Dan. It's great to see Carol get some time to shine and not just be part of the background to be used as a plot device. She's making things happen too. Jadestone and the Sorrow Lantern are really cool. Wow this issue looks goofy. Haha. That's cool though as it's nice to have some silliness from time to time. It gives some love to the silver age. Plus, Adams is still advancing the story. Dove may have been shoehorned in by editorial for reasons that payoff in the larger DCU. Seems like the next line wide event is coming from PJK and the old gods stuff he has been laying the ground work for in the titles he has written. It may be just a big crossover between his GL title and Adams ala Sinestro Corps War like you mentioned. It's exciting to find out. Take care and peace everyone.

I'm not sure, but i think Nate names himself simply 'Sorrow', rather than the sorrow lantern, which I kind of like. I wonder if he was angrier at the time, would he have manifested a red ring? I have many questions! Are other new lantern types appearing across the universe? I need to see a Unexpected Giddiness Corp!

I think the most recent things Hawk and Dove have been doing is being background heroes and helping out in different Teen Titans stories.

Will you read and review JLU when it comes out ?
Ik you’re done with Lantern roundups but would that book be a special case for you ?

    • @MosaicComics
      @MosaicComics  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I'm definitely going to be reading JLU, but whether or not I do videos on it will depend on the content of the books. I have a feeling that the DC All-In Special and JLU #1 together might make an interesting video, since it's going to set up a new direction for the DC Universe while also having Carol join the Justice League for the first time. But beyond that, we'll see.

Hey there, i got a question for the QNA: What would you think of a return of "Ion" as a Lantern serving as an avatar for an emotional embodiment? And how it could be handled in a new interesting way? Personally, i always wanted to see Ion as a gateway for the current bearer to communicate with spirits of former avatars like the Primes in the Matrix or One For All vestiges in My Hero Academia. And if we made a short Ion run about a completely new character that became it’s avatar in order to explore those ideas. How would you handle it?

I'm not trying to diss the artist or anything like that, but Carol's face here is drawn pretty weird. Small eyes, round nose and puffy lips. She kinda looks like the Yeti from Harry and the Hendersons.
Also, the whole Sorrow lantern feels pretty dumb to me, even by cómic book standards. It doesn't help that despite him being "the bad guy" he is entirely justified on what he is going through.
