I love this series to death, CoolGuy! The worst part about every video of yours is when they end. But gushing aside. I think a good topic for a video would be controlling nerves in stressful situations and not losing your cool. Thank you for your diligence!
Thanks for making these videos. Your tips empowered me to solo my way to a Recluse and a Luna's Howl. Keep up the outstanding work! You touched on it in this video, but as a companion to this series, it might be interesting (and this would provide you with lots of material) to focus on single specific maps, consolidate plays you liked on those maps, discuss how the maps work in different modes, address loadouts, and cover the common mistakes.
That opening clip was absolutely jaw dropping, it perfectly encapsulates the player I want to be, it helps that you were playing hunter which is quite literally my exclusive class since D1. You my friend, are not just cool, you are an inspiration. Best wishes to you and yours! Much love!
@@haydenbell1758 maybe it could have been, never say never and all that but I don't see how he would have been able to so skillfully evade and quickly reposition as he did on a titan for example and obviously that golden gun pop literally saved his life and I don't see how any other super could have allowed him to pop off so many quick successive shots to get out of that situation alive. While possible, I will maintain that it seems to me, highly unlikely. Which class and subclass do you think could have performed this exact scenario? Genuinely interested as I can't think of one personally.
This series has been immensely helpful. I'm not a native PVP player; my k/d was .85 when forsaken dropped, and I'm at a .92 now. Doesn't sound like much of an improvement, but it means the world to me. Thank you for all you do
Gaspingindeath Good for you man! Keep progressing. I was around .40 and went to .80 in about a week. (I'm very new to the Crucible.) I'd be thrilled to get to 1.25 or even 1.5. I'm about 50/ 50 in a straight up gunfight, but it's almost never a straight up gunfight! I gotta learn to be much more aware of my surroundings! Getting double and triple teamed is murder, and it gets very frustrating. I can tell sometimes that the other team is using strategic teamwork and I'm always solo. When I get a little more confident, I'm gonna try to change that. Hey, good luck out there!!
This is one of the reasons you are a high quality youtuber. No clickbait, no ego-stroking, no flexing, just exceptional grade of reviews, tips, and helpful videos. Keep it up, and thank you! :)
I work as a surgeon and many nights on call or waiting are spent on consoles playing destiny 2. Half the videos I watch on TH-cam are generic guys talking absolute dribble with the crappy identical intros in the fake radio announcer voice asking for likes. This series of videos are on a different plane. These are concise, easy to understand and most importantly they are inspirational.it felt like I just had a golf lesson and could put it to use on the course immediately. It also puts into perspective really the art involved in crucible which I never even considered until watching this series... Keep up the great work !!!
I love this stuff. The 'Play it like it's Control' really needs teaching, though, because there are a lot of people who just don't know how to play control out there.
Great series. One thing you can add to your tips on movement is "When not surrounded by team mates, if you've been in one spot for more than 5 seconds, maybe ADSing or waiting for enemy to come into your lane, you should know that at that moment, more than one enemy is converging on you. So bring urgency to relocate when in a spot for more than 5 seconds". You will not get a 1v1 if you're in a spot for more than 5 seconds.
Coolguy I haven't seriously used a 140 HC since like Destiny 1. After watching these 3 videos (in a row) , I feel like I realized what I was missing. Thanks man, I appreciate it.
Your videos man....I really don’t know how long they take to make, but keep it up...always take your time. Never feel pressured to release content before “everyone” else because your content is just that crucial, I learn so much more with EVERY video you make. Thank you for taking your time man.
Great video! Something I've been working on lately in PVP is when to push and when to disengage. Something I learned is that Transversive Steps enables you to to both flank and retreat with ease. I have often found myself able to push one direction and if I face too much resistance, disengage and push from another direction before they can react. The sprint speed and auto-reload is a discreet but very potent advantage. I'm probably preaching to the choir on this though.
This has to be the best Destiny 2 content, hands down. CoolGuy, you are an awesome resource for those trying to improve. I watch and re watch this series when I need a refresh. Thank you for all you do for this community
As always, a great insightful video, I'm one of those people that thanks you here and on twitter because its genuinely down to these kind of videos that help my playstyle and help me to get better at the pvp side of the game. I'd love to see a back to basics video from you, just general things that may seem like common knowledge to most players in a pvp environment but they may not necessarily be aware of. A quick example which you covered in this video would be know the first places of engagements like on convergence the central sniper lane. Things like that. So many of my friends refuse to go into pvp because they're just not aware of the basics. Yet I'm a below average player (1.46 lad on emblem) yet they call me a god in pvp (I'm far from it) and I always share your videos to our discord for them to watch to help them. Keep doing it man, you're killing it out here. Best Destiny YT channel for reviews and insightful videos 👌👍
Thanks for another helpful video. After watching some of these tips and strategies, I can't believe I had the audacity to go out there solo and completely ignorant, expecting anything BUT a good ass whuppin'!! I still suck, but I went from around a 0.4 to a 0.8 in a few days. I NEVER knew what all that knee sliding was for! I thought it was just to be harder to hit (like ducking), or to reload weapons. That's ANOTHER strategy I need to employ! I have a lot more practicing to do, and these videos have given me some hope!
Hey Cool Guy I do have a subject that I think is worth discussing in a video. Passive vs Aggressive: What is the best time for each? I find that it's sometimes a bit difficult to in the heat of the moment and being aggressive in movement is necessary in a passive playstyle. While in an aggressive playstyle there are moment when passive movement can help set up for an aggressive play. It can sometimes get us the players taking deaths that even though we try to avoid but the situation but that playstyle gets us killed as players. When to switch from one to the other. I say this because when looking at your first clip in that moment when you have the enemy team gunning for you, you movement is aggressive but not for the kill, an aggressive movement for a passive playstyle to survive in that moment to survive but then change to a moment of passive movement that end with an aggressive playstyle for the kill.
Let me start off with saying fantastic vid. I have been playing since the double primary days and saw moderate success during that time. When energy weapons released my KDA took a huge dip. I just couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong that I couldn’t compete with everyone else. I took the advice you have given in previous videos and have become a much better player. I’ve had several gold medal games since then and have been able to achieve positive K/D games now almost every match. It took someone breaking it down in the way that you do, explaining the mindset to know how to challenge engagements and then just the practice implementing those things in real time to make a major change in the way I play. Thanks for helping me become a better player in pvp 👏
So glad you made this video especially the lanes barely used. I use all of these and I have a lot of success at changing the usual flow of games. Hardly anyone on the enemy team or my team like to take these routes and they're effective. Love your vids coolguy and cant wait for more
Dude.....thank you so much for the recommend on the Puppeteer button layout! I'm not even sure if it was in this vid, but it makes a world of difference! Being able to slide and aim without having to take my thumb off the right joystick is a huge game changer! I probably need to invest in a pro controller, but this helps a lot!
I had no idea how radar was affected by slide. I would always slide , but just to not be an easy head shot. I’m definitely adding this to my technique more purposefully. Thanks man!
Great series. It changed my Destiny Crucible life. I'd love to see more, especially around different game type tactics and also pointers by map like the end of this video.
Ei man, i see your tips to improve kd time to time, and still waiting for the agressive x passive playstyles. Love yours videos. Your voice and way of talking are really likeble and make things very easy to understand.
Very well put together. I'm loving the flow of these videos, and the information is fantastic. The clips are pretty solid too! Thanks for making these! I am always on the lookout for stuff like this, I used to not be very good at PvP and I finally got my Luna's Howl last season solo and it's because of videos like this that helped me see things in the game in a different light and really improve my skills. Great work, and keep it up!
Thank you for the video! I stopped playing Crucible in Forsaken, but this will help during Iron Banner. I struggle with map movement on Y2 maps. With the high tempo of shorter TTK & one shot kills constantly around, I get smoked before I get to think most of the time.
I hate to admit this, but I've been playing this game since day1 and your video just NOW made me realize my blue triangle pulses as I'm crouched. All this time, I thought I was off radar.
I really appreciate these videos. Im decent at pvp. I have really great games and then some pretty bad ones. Seeing someone lay out the do’s and don’ts it’s really helpful. Awesome vid, can’t wait to see the next one. 👍🏻
Excellent video. This really reinforces what I’m working on and has given me some concrete things to work on. Your content is some of the very best, looking forward to more.
Wow this is one of my first times watching your videos! I love how you explain more than just show videos of you destroying. I have found this to be the most helpful video so far I have played since Year One so I'm quite impressed. Actually watching your game play Falls right into what you're saying. Bravo you have a new subscriber and I really appreciate it just what I was looking for.
Another great helpful vid. I need to go back through some of your old vids. You did one that talked about left side of cover that could be helpful with snipers coming back and in general. Thanks for what you do CoolGuy
You can apply the basic macro "cerebral" principles he's pointing toward in most disciplines - not just gaming. Fantastic stuff. Best ive found on net for practical tips...
Another incredible video from the Coolguy. You are my number 1 Destiny content creator and have been so for years. You deserve all the subs you get and three times more. Keep it up with the pvp guides, good stuff. Great stuff, actually. 😀🍻
I have learned something new when watching one of your videos, every time without fail. Thank you for this series man they honestly help a lot. Looking forward to the next one !
Another small tip that might help a lot of people and I notice many bad players still do: You don't have to go for the kill from the first angle you push in. Stay on the move, take a shot, move to a different angle and try again. Many players think that if they can see an enemy they have to kill them right then and there. Sometimes it is better to take a shot (hit or miss, doesn't matter) and stay on the move to finish the fight from another angle a couple seconds later. Stay slippery and unpredictable.
Love the video, highly informative. Can you do a video about sniper movement? I dont mean "how to aim better with a sniper"; I mean: - How to select your engagements - what situations to push with a sniper vs shun, depending on your skill level, - movement from point to point, and how you structure your stance (run/slide/walk/"peel" the corner ADS, etc) - how the type of sniper you picked influences these things (e.g. Bite vs Twilight) WIth sniper aiming, I've seen a lot of videos on strafe v flick v hardscope aiming (you made a good one, I think), and whilst I agree with them, I feel they all missed 2 important things: 1) how much positioning & movement leading into the engagement influence success 2) how much good sniping aiming has to be unthinking, automatic - reflex, absolutely not deliberate and measured. So, as my most trusted TH-cam Destiny 2 tutor, with the best insight into how to break down subconscious, learnt excellence into teachable lessons, please please please find it in your heart one day to make a video on this :)
I’ve made such a habit of sliding around everywhere and sprint/aim -cancel out of slide for the “QuickDraw” effect , that I forgot about the whole radar ping thing. That and knee sliding around corners in d1 to keep from getting sniped all the time has programmed my brain to be constantly sliding
This is an amazing video, thank you! I have a couple of friends who've slowly got into destiny but don't have the experience I have in crucible and wanted some tips. I'm sending this their way.
You always make such insightful videos. I only wish you had the time to do more. You certainly deserve many more subscribers then you have. Looking forward to the next video, Coolguy.
On Convergence I always take the cliffside route off first spawn, hop up on the rock at 8:08 and throw nades into the other teams mid sniper lane. Has been my bread and butter with Lightning Nades since D1. Sure usually you won't catch the snipers with them cause they tend to stay a little further back, so most of the time you hit the mid rushers, but that can give you an early cause nobody expects it.
Besides the video being extremely informative (like always), that opening clip is the visual representation of what you've explained in these guides. #SavageCoolGuy
One thing I usually do in terms of positioning is go behind B point on Endless Vale off spawn. Where the jump gap is. I play on a Hunter and let me fall below where the death count starts. Then I do a triple jump up and pop up to opponents hard scoping B point and get a couple ear hole kills.
Good shit. The one thing I'm unsure of is which supers to use and how and when to use them. It would also be neat to see you cover armor loadouts with regard to perks and mods.
Coolguy, I am struggling with aerial engagements using that vertical space. Namely I've moved from titan to my hunter and I'm messing up my jump height which results in my floating down on top of the opponent outside of shotgun range. Unlike titan I cant immediately drop my lift and I am kinda just a floating target until I get into that ohk range which often I don't make it and die before hand. So how to use vertical space on various classes would be very helpful!
Another Great video. Thank you! One thing that would be cool to see is how to deal with enemy supers. And how to best maximize your own super when you are solo and with a team.
Great video series. Gives me thoughts for how I can try to improve. I suck at PvP, but this helps me understand why and how I might aspire to be at least average
9:00 One of my favorite things to do when I'm in that lane, is fire off a Jotun shot downwind. Not only does it cause the opposing team (who are likely sniping) to scatter, which opens up the lane for your teammates, but sometimes you'll get that kill ping off the fool who decided to stay too long.
I did the same thing you did on convergence. My team wiped their team on C so I rushed to A and popped my spectral blade, got 5 with the super and killed the last one with my bow. Felt good
Hey CoolGuy, I think the next video in this series should be on how to recognize your mistakes. This is what prevented me from getting better for the longest time and I'm sure it's done the same for many others.
This video series has improved my gameplay like night and day. I used to average a 1.2 kdr around 25kills per game. I now go 36-50 bangers on all 3 classes. I'm consistently hitting slayer medals and we rans left n right. I've been playing console shooters since halo 1 and have always enjoyed PvP. I would subconciously think about these practices but actually hearing them makes it easier to keep in mind.
I rage quit tonight second game back into PvP, first match was excellent but second was on my most hated level and I sucked because I couldn't controo my impulse to try and force myself into positioning they'd set up. I wasn't thinking clearly at the time, I just wanted blood and my fury lead me to further humiliation. Its funny I came across this video as it actually made me realise my short comings in a more obvious manner, I guess I knew my mistakes but just disregarded it. But now I'm aware so thank you.
I would like to see a Destiny specific breakdown on how to best utilize class abilities. Like what can a hunter actually dogde in terms of weapons etc, how long does it take to put down/up titam shields and warlock rifts and can you be killed during that time. I realize it probably won't be a very long video and people watching these for other games than Destiny won't watch it, but stuff like that might be useful as I feel like f.ex the hunter dodge is very inconsistent.
Thank you for watching my videos! Are there any topics you would like to see covered?
After watching your Merciless vid I think covering under appreciated weapons could be cool
Found your channel recently so not sure if its been covered by you.

I dont mean "how to aim better with a sniper"; I mean:
- How to select your engagements - what situations to push with a sniper vs shun, depending on your skill level,
- movement from point to point, and how you structure your stance (run/slide/walk/"peel" the corner ADS, etc)
- how the type of sniper you picked influences these things (e.g. Bite vs Twilight)
WIth sniper aiming, I've seen a lot of videos on strafe v flick v hardscope aiming (you made a good one, I think), and whilst I agree with them, I feel they all missed 2 important things:
1) how much positioning & movement leading into the engagement influence success
2) how much good sniping aiming has to be unthinking, automatic - reflex, absolutely not deliberate and measured.
So, as my most trusted TH-cam Destiny 2 tutor, with the best insight into how to break down subconscious, learnt excellence into teachable lessons, please please please find it in your heart one day to make a video on this :)

That opening clip bro wow
Yeah for real!!!!
Love the videos! I'm a little above average (according to stats) in PvP, and I learn so much more about my own mistakes from your videos!
This is the video ive been waiting on movement tips hell yea and its my bday today wow today is a great day
Every single video i wonder how you only have 80k subs. Keep up the good work, love your content.
we are low key over here DeMar and that's perfectly fine with me
Bravo! This is all very good advice for anyone wanting to improve in crucible.
I love this series!! Great stuff as always
That 7th column though 🔥🔥🔥
Besides the video being extremely informative (like always), that opening clip is the visual representation of what you've explained in these guides. #SavageCoolGuy
One thing I usually do in terms of positioning is go behind B point on Endless Vale off spawn. Where the jump gap is. I play on a Hunter and let me fall below where the death count starts. Then I do a triple jump up and pop up to opponents hard scoping B point and get a couple ear hole kills.
Tyler Geist you are cracked
Another great video CoolGuy. This series gives me hope for one day getting my recluse. Cheers!
Thanks again these videos have been helping me with my kd and my overall fun in pvp. Keep up the awesome work
Great stuff as always, CG! Thanks for this. It's going to help me and a lot of other players.
You sir are a gentleman keep up the great work
Another Great video.
Felt good
I'd love a video on how to improve consistency, if that's possible. Video was great and informative as always!
Great video.
Can you break down more maps? I don't think there are any detailed videos of the various maps.
Keep up the great work!
Again an amazing upload, this kind of content realy has helpt me become a better player. Thanks and keep up the good work ✌🏻
Can’t wait for the next video
Loving this series 👍
Hey CoolGuy, I think the next video in this series should be on how to recognize your mistakes. This is what prevented me from getting better for the longest time and I'm sure it's done the same for many others.
Great video. I can't wait to try some of these tips out.
Top quality video/guide, so are your weapon reviews, really enjoy them, thank you for making them, keep up the good work~!~
Awesome video bud. Food for thought.
As always...great videos. Now I just need to get to practicing.
I would love to see a video on how best to move with team mates. I always lose track of them and end up getting pinched!
Another great video! I love PvP, but in general I kinda run around. :) I'm going to use these tips and watch the previous 2 video's.
Great informative video as usual 👍. Any video on pvp you think is pertinent is what I’am looking for. Love pvp but really suck at it thanks.
This is a great video, thanks for the upload.
Awesome vid! Great tips! The opening clip... :O
got my first 3.0 kd thanks coolguy most helpful tips imo
7th column was sick 👍🏼👍🏼
Proud to have you on Xbox bud. I can't wait to get back into town and play again.
thank you for this video. your effort really shows through!!
Definitely a video for shutting down supers
I would like to see a Destiny specific breakdown on how to best utilize class abilities. Like what can a hunter actually dogde in terms of weapons etc, how long does it take to put down/up titam shields and warlock rifts and can you be killed during that time. I realize it probably won't be a very long video and people watching these for other games than Destiny won't watch it, but stuff like that might be useful as I feel like f.ex the hunter dodge is very inconsistent.
Thanks for this video, it helped me a lot.
Great video easy to understand.
I want to be come unbroken and I think this guide, all 3 videos, will help me. I'll probable be back in 3 seasons maybe unbroken...
Thanks, great vid as always, much to chew on.
great vid, can't wait for the next one...thanks CoolGuy!!
Excellent video bud
THIS IS AMAZING!!
