CoolGuy I got my first Unbroken today in my warm up game after watching one of your older videos about trying to stay alive. That video was based in rumble and I had intentions of going in to it to practice, but I couldn't believe I managed to do it in 6s with Thorn. Thank you so much for all that you've done to help me improve my gaming. My average kd has plateaued at a 1 for the longest time, but after making improvements to my controller by getting a Beaver, getting a gaming monitor, and watching a lot of videos and really practicing what I've learned, I have noticed a substantial increase in my skills and my confidence in both gaming and real life. Gaming has help keep me sane and grounded in reality, as weird and counterintuitive as it sounds, and it has made me feel better about myself. Thank you for being such a Cool Guy. From Lightrazer_DD
This was a great video. I really like how calm and deliberate you are in your explanations. You provide excellent examples, and most importantly you provide "drills" to do in order to improve the skills that you mention. Thank you for making such an excellent and well thought-out video.
Hey CoolGuy, Really appreciate the time you have taken personally into this video and also others, they are really helpful and great to see community focus on helping other players improve their game. You always take the time to break areas down to make them easier to understand. Such as this one "Quote: just aim" and yeah there is more to it than that. I have found all of your vids really helpful as I am sure others have also, these range from the pvp guides, to reducing tilt and even live play or vendor rolls. This adds to that collection also. You sir are a legend and really hope your channel keeps expanding and you keep doing well. Thanks man your work certainly is appreciated. Sync

Using both again for just the last half and hour and I can see instant results, because I got really good with aiming with the right stick I feel like a god now . . . Thanks mate, Subscribing for sure.
Always constantly aim at things, it keeps you warmed up and helps you feel out the aim throughout the match. If you just strafe around and only look around when you have to you will not be ready when its time to shoot.
This is easily the best aim guide for console on TH-cam imo. I've been playing cod since bo2 and just recently grasped pretty much everything you said in this tutorial. BEAUTIFUL BREAKDOWN!
Eray Ismail i recommend getting good at hip firing and after you get better with response time with hip firing and aiming on to target start ADS right after you start hip firing. my biggest problem is tracking head shots from medium to long range tho
Aim small miss small, the farther your enemy, the more gentler you have to be on your right stick when aiming with a rifle. The closer they are, the more you can push left anf right. Don't stare too much into your crosshair, your crosshair is your middle and if you focus on that you won't notice your enemy fast enough and you don't know what your pulling towards so you'll overpull. Also you need to be able you need to be able to stop once the crosshair immediately is centered on your enemy or else you'll overpush the right stick.
Bobby Drake muscle memory, just practice it extensively, and try to correct yourself after each mistake. and i mean it will probably takes months of practice
"Aiming" is essentially "pointing" your weapon in the direction you want to aim. And that is exactly what a mouse does. It points in the direction you want, simulating a real life aiming scenario, albeit with a much lighter tool. With a mouse you control the position (x) of the crosshairs, whereas with a joystick you control the velocity (v) of the crosshairs. A joystick is a steering device, and is therefore a fundamentally different mechanism, requiring one to "train their muscle memory". But many feel the inherent lag of a steering mechanism simulates the weight of the weapon.
Like many other commenters, I just want to say that your videos, approach and tone have really made me a way better PVP player. I really appreciate what you do. Thanks.
Try buying a high rise kontrolfreek ($15-$20) for your right stick and get used to it for a week. It makes aiming more comfortable, adds more grip, and can improve aim and centering if you practice

High sensitivity in my opinion is good when the aim assist is strong like cod or gta v because it doesn't really require micro adjustments. Lower dead zones is what I personally use and is popular with pro fps players. Gives you more control with your thumbs. Cross-hair placement is also very important and aiming at head level. In order to do this you will need to know the map or when you enter a corner your cross-hair will already be pointed at anyone at head level, ready for you to shoot. It's a good habit because you would have lesser time aiming at someone because your cross-hair will already be pointed at them. Knowing the map will give you an idea possible positions an enemy can be. It will be more natural when you play for a long time and sometimes it is just muscle memory.

I was hitting 1.75 to 3.2. The lower KDs were from long range maps that I decided to keep using my Chaperone and Trust build to push myself. I never hit above a 2 KD before this. Thanks a lot Cool guy!!

My eternal gratitude to you, Sir! Long time sub here) This guide comes in perfect timing for me, as I'm desperately trying to learn to aim on a controller, after switching from PC. I've tried XIM in the past, but it has never been ideal as built-in AA and acceleration working against mouse and keyboard use. I've played decent with it but I believe that I just skillcapping myself. Re-learning a shooter with a controller is definitely a fresh and exciting experience for me.

It has been ages since I’ve played halo games and when I came back I couldn’t hit a single shot, and that’s weird since FPS used to be my thing. But your video is helping me so thanks
I notice a lot of people who run max sensitivity only do it because they want to be able to turn 180° really fast or because they think it's a personality. It's mostly reason 2
What you said about the left stick strafe and right stick fine adjustment is so true. I have a bad habit of being right stick dominant so i end up trying to track an enemy's strafe with my right than my left and completely throwing my aim off.
I’m a controller user. FPS like Halo and Doom feels good, but trying to use a Sniper or anything precise is difficult. Minecraft, while technically not a shooter, it has shooter elements, and using a stick with a bow is easy to aim precisely, especially in PvP.
If Xbone. Use the Elite controller, "instant" profile on the right tumbstick. Use 0% dead-space, move it up to a few percentages to stop stick-drift to queeze as much as room you can use. Max acceleration turn speed & sensitive between 50%-90% in games.
Explain me about small triangle thing please.. I am trying FPS games for the first time in my life & it's on PS4 .. My level is Pathetic && it is an understatement 😶
I have a good 8k hours playing on an xbox one controller. I played with 0 dead zone and had gotten really good at aiming in any game. Around 6 months ago, I started playing on PC with m&k and I'm trying hard not to lose my controller skills but I think I'm fucked. I'm still learning m&k, but I can't aim right with a controller anymore. I'm just really bad at both.
The worst problem I have with controller is the stick input "lag", especially bad on ps4 and 5. It's not really lag, but it takes about a half second to the right stick to actually work. I haven't watched the video yet, but I hope it fixes this. Guys I think it's the deadzone
In battlefield I'm utterly hopeless when it comes to aiming. If you're on the opposing team the safest place to be on the entire map is right in front of me. If you pop around a corner and catch me off guard I'll panic spray an entire magazine in your general direction before you inevitably kill me.
Ima sum up and say smth i learned from alot of First person shooters High sens,Higher the deadzone (make it around 14) Low sens (Deadzone around 6) Vibration:If you have a freak then u can turn it on but i prefer off with and without the freak cuz my thumbs shaking at a lethal time isnt smth good Turn the lightness alil up than normal so u can make it easy for ur eyes to track the body when he apears blurry bc of high sens Dont start with sens start from 0 and go up and up and up not just oh its so slow so u make it from like 4 to 9 no go gradual Play alot vs easy bot to adjust ur aim in the head level and Move while shooting then so u train ur tracking Play againist ur friends in custom matches bc the feeling of not wanting ti lose againist them and playing with them in that choking will help you in not choking at real ranked matches Freaks arent necessary playing without freaks just makes u able to have a more higher sens lets say u were playing with 5 u can play with 7 but u r gonna make the deadzone higher too Train on Flicks using walls or something till i can control ur flick as u like Keep shooting at a wall till you know the recoil of ur weapon u r using and figure out how to control it and if the recoil is too high then avoid it

I'm trying to start slow first and then speed up once I'm comfortable. I wish there were some tips for acquiring targets precisely
A tip for aiming is to look at your target instead of your crosshair and just keep focusing on doing that
"Aiming" is essentially "pointing" your weapon in the direction you want to aim. And that is exactly what a mouse does. It points in the direction you want, simulating a real life aiming scenario, albeit with a much lighter tool.

Great and useful video. As a longtime lefthanded PC Quake player (mouse in the left hand) getting used to aiming with a controller and aiming with my right hand is such a slow and painful process.
@byron stahlmann It did get a little bit better. But it still depends on the weapon type, and most of all on the distance, e.g. when someone is attacking me from up close turning and aiming gets very chaotic. Borderlands 2 feels very good now. I tried Metro Exodus a couple of days ago, it felt horrible (also because of the motion sickness).

I really appreciate all the work you put in to this. There were a few moments of enlightenment, and thats gonna be a great help. Good job man 👍
Thanks for this guide. I found your pointers extremely helpful and clear.
That Shaxx love at the end though!!! Haha, great video CoolGuy! I can't wait for your D2 videos man! It's been a great journey!
Ronn was great man. Wish he still did commentaries.
This helped. The small triangle thing Is god
Explain me about small triangle thing please.. I am trying FPS games for the first time in my life & it's on PS4 .. My level is Pathetic && it is an understatement 😶
Its amazing how this all still applies in D2 crucible still on a controller, i was looking for something like this
Bro I’m transitioning from keyboard and mouse to controller, this video helps
Another amazing video! Thank you for the constant positive content!! 🖖🏼
You sir, are a great contribution to the community of gamers!
I just started on consuls and I really needed this thank u
i grew up playing console, but when i moved to pc and neglected my playstation, I found it really hard to get back into literally any console game
This was the best video on aiming I ever saw. 👍🏿👏🏿 AMAZING WORK!
The worst problem I have with controller is the stick input "lag", especially bad on ps4 and 5. It's not really lag, but it takes about a half second to the right stick to actually work.
I haven't watched the video yet, but I hope it fixes this.
Guys I think it's the deadzone
Been playing consistently for years now, and my thumbs still freak out anytime it’s a stressful situation lol. May have to migrate over to m&k already
Yep my thumbs also go weak and feel kinda "limp". But i am confidant in my aim but it still stresses me out
In battlefield I'm utterly hopeless when it comes to aiming. If you're on the opposing team the safest place to be on the entire map is right in front of me. If you pop around a corner and catch me off guard I'll panic spray an entire magazine in your general direction before you inevitably kill me.
Ima sum up and say smth i learned from alot of First person shooters
High sens,Higher the deadzone (make it around 14)
Low sens (Deadzone around 6)
Vibration:If you have a freak then u can turn it on but i prefer off with and without the freak cuz my thumbs shaking at a lethal time isnt smth good
Turn the lightness alil up than normal so u can make it easy for ur eyes to track the body when he apears blurry bc of high sens
Dont start with sens start from 0 and go up and up and up not just oh its so slow so u make it from like 4 to 9 no go gradual
Play alot vs easy bot to adjust ur aim in the head level and Move while shooting then so u train ur tracking
Play againist ur friends in custom matches bc the feeling of not wanting ti lose againist them and playing with them in that choking will help you in not choking at real ranked matches
Freaks arent necessary playing without freaks just makes u able to have a more higher sens lets say u were playing with 5 u can play with 7 but u r gonna make the deadzone higher too
Train on Flicks using walls or something till i can control ur flick as u like
Keep shooting at a wall till you know the recoil of ur weapon u r using and figure out how to control it and if the recoil is too high then avoid it
Best Aim vid on TH-cam my guy 🤙
You just earned yourself another sub. Excellent job.
CoolGuy, I wish I could give this two thumbs up but goofy TH-cam translates that back to a 'meh' rating. Even a year 0 player like me has learned a lot from your videos so THANK YOU!!!
I'd love an updated video on this topic
I just can’t aim in FPS using console controller, takes me a while to aim. I miss my PC as a result I avoid FPS games on consoles
super good advice, i will try these tonight.
David Li make sure you play with super good advice
Oh man... This video's got be feening for OG Destiny! Glad it popped back up in my suggestions again... Wait....
