To add on to the first part of the video. Tip 1. That needed to be said. There's no way around it. It's the truth in the end unfortunately. I could have left it out, but I felt it had to be there.
With that in mind and it is so sad that it has to be tip number one as some of us really really prefer to play solo but with that in mind what do you believe the real world odds are of solo Q to the claymore with someone that is not that bad at pvp.
Agree with that. We will have to wait and see. I only took up PVP in a committed way during house of wolves and took a plenty of lumps along the way. I will give it a serious effort and see what happens.
CoolGuy Screw it i refuse to use team. Shooting to my advantage rather i play. alone or not, i play without fire team period team shooting is team. Work not my style if something. Isn't my style i won't do, it in pvp except if there isn't any. Other choice in video game there's always. Choice in pvp and sometimes in PvE as well but in real life sometimes, there isn't any other choice. But to do something that isn't your style lucky me. I didn't buy, D2 yet i buy D2 after. Kill fast update comes out. Until than i refuse to buy it no one. Can change my mind, about these kind of things.
Thanks for this! As an avid PvPer since The Dark Below, I’ve always been afraid to venture into sweats. However, I recognize that I’m better now than when I started, and that Claymore inspires me to try out ranked, so I appreciate the video. Catch you in the Crucible!
This is SUCH a great video. One of the best I've ever seen. Well constructed and coherent, fantastic information combined with polished style. Great job!
CoolGuy thanks for sharing your knowledge I find the way you articulate and prove your points a great learning tool and as such my PVP experiment has improved 10 fold.
The way you have to play this game is unbelievable. I don’t feel like a “warrior of light” I feel like a preschooler learning how to stay near mommy when I go to the store. There’s no being a hero, there’s either boring asf team shotting or the douche that farms power ammo because he doesn’t know how to use anything else. Roaming supers are useless and as someone who’s played Stormcaller since it came out I find myself having to use Void or Dawn just to compete (but that’s a personal thing). Also this game is so full of hunters I feel like I’m walking through a convention of emo kids that always pick rouge in JRpgs.
agreed. this game has now become a meme. crucible is now a fucking joke with the graviton everywhere and the workhusk helmet for hunters. its incredible the massive amount of neglect bungie has shown this game its insane.
What experience I've gathered in playing Overwatch's comp playlist when I solo queue is that you , as the solo queuer should be submissive and fill in the roles that need to be filled in, be a follower, not a leader. None of them pick healer? be healer, No one picks a fitting or important tank? Be that tank. That's something you can apply as well into Destiny 2's competitive playlist soon. In the example of having a 3 man team+ you as the extra, play reserved, don't be the hero and similar to how a healer in Overwatch tends to be behind their teammates and provide support, so should you play with a similar mentality. Stick to that one teammate that you think will need your help the most and try to adjust yourself to the overall mentality of their gameplay. Just like cooguy said, if they all stick with Midas in the back, there's no point in going balls deep into enemy lines. If they all rush, stick nearby to pickup lowhealth opponents that got your team mate. what also helps is your choice of loadouts as some exotics in the game have a bit of teamplay value in them, and might be even better in the future with the armor rework. Crest of Alpha Lupi for example is nice to have to give team mates a chunk of health when you place your shield. The Stag helmet for warlocks is great as you will create a healing rift when you die, but also recharge your own rift much, much faster as well. Ahamkaras Spine will mark enemies that got hit by a trip mine and thus make them visible for both you and your teammates, which can be of huge help and create some form of communication. The Aeon set of gauntlets for all of them can boost the recharge times for some abilities to your teammates, even if they don't have their own equipped. Really helpful for your Warlock companions as they get their grenades back faster. So while there are definitly a few good offensive exotics out there of value, don't ignore these. Over time you will definitly learn how to play the game modes the most effective way, and how others play it. Remember that with different rankings out there , player behaviour will differe based on said ranks, so some tips can be universal, others will be a bit more specific. Other than all of that, the video is pretty good, would recommend that to most players. PS: remember that the ranks will at the beginning of the game be set to a neutral value, which means that early on both pros and none pros and everyone inbetween and beyond will be matched up together and over time the rankings will place people where they belong. So do not get disencouraged and frustrated should your early experience be just a streak of losses. take the pounding like a champ, try to learn from that experience as in what tactics and tricks were used and try again. take a break inbetween as well as Comp is really stressing people out when its sweaty all the time. if you're just in for the weapon, don't worry about your ranks too much, only at the top ranks will you go down over time, but not at the areas where you can earn the gun.
Another great video. I think all the points are helpful and accurate. What i noticed running solo in Comp Ranked is its difficult to go on any sort streaks. I guess thats the nature of the beast. Your point about how critical the first minute is as it pretty much tells you all you need to know cannot be stressed enough. As a side note i think no radar has really impacted solo queing in Comp. i pulles out completely. Bungie indicated they are adjusting the loss penalty so i may hop back in then. Great vid. Thanks for the tips.
I full heartedly agree with all these tips. It's unfortunate that D2's crucible is played the way it is, but that's how it is and it doesn't appear that it's going to change anytime soon. Good video.
Thanks for the vids and tips man. Definitely admire your positive stance you take, and your humble approach to getting good. Here's to those of us still playing!
Thanks for the tips Cool Guy. I solo que for the most part. I realize part of my problem is I don’t stay with the team & team shot; I flank too early. I’ll try waiting till we have numbers to do this. Thanks for the mentality wake up call.
It's hard to be confident in your ability when D2's PvP demands extended perfection in your shots to achieve the best TTK, which means making no mistakes. That's hard to do with high flinch, team shotting, odd aim assist and hit detection, wonky melee detection, and a feedback system that claims that defeating an opponent by shooting him once is as valuable as shooting him from full to zero. Almost everything about D2 PvP is designed to criticize you for not playing by it's rules. There's no room to go by yourself, unless if you have heavy, and even then it's not that much wiggle room, and it's not satisfying to get heavy kills against people that don't have heavy. PvP in this game is just depressing to play.
TheOctavariumTheory true i talked about how bad the aim assist and how easy it is now to miss shots but people keep looking past it even though fun fights now are worse. I actually like having some accuracy where the slightest movement can throw my weapons accuracy way off. That just takes more fun away from the game. Look at d1 is so much more fun to play but yet for some reason bungle heavily changed everything and pvp is not enjoyable anymore
The whole KDA system is to make players who aren't that great, seem like they're better than they actually are. PVP really is lacking what made D1 so great.
Idk I just can’t be beaten in 1v1s only team shots I hate those with a passion. Like idk if they wanted to make it like Battlefield they should add their TTK. I’m mostly division 1 or 2 in B1 and B4
Ricardo Tolbert still that doesn’t change that d1 has much better gun play over d2. It’s not hard to start reverting some stats it isn’t rocket science.
Sorry, I got too distracted by the Relentless gameplay in the back. Damn, you wreck so much, I had to watch twice to listen to what you're saying lol Love u
My problem playing solo is matchmaking. I'll look on destiny tracker at players stats after the game and the opposing team will have platinum players vs silver, bronze players. This leads me to believe the matchmaking is designed for you to lose. Then next game the powers shift to you having platinum players on your team and you get to squash the opponents. Too many times games are blowouts and not close at all. Thats not good matchmaking. I don't care going against fireteams vs solo's but it should give you more players of high level on your team to combat the team work. Not win one, lose one or win two, lose three. It would also be nice if you win that they keep your team together and bring in a new team of 4 to oppose you rather than breaking you guys up and giving you new teammates. This will also promote making a friend playing 3, 4 games with this team and them seeing you play and saying this guy is pretty good and likewise. Let me send him a friend request. As always Coolguy good video and a great break down. 👍 Can't wait for Warmind and the new changes to the sandbox.
This is the biggest problem right now in forsaken. Matchmaking is a complete joke. The worst I've seen it in D2 by far. The biggest problem right now is dropped players. If I'm attempting the competative playlist solo, the majority of the time I get put into 3v4 games. Shits getting old.
Very good tips for playing PVP, some that I was using already. I’m lousy at PVP and have play it to complete my milestones. Joining a team is difficult since I can’t use a mike. Great video overall.
A very good remember of the pvp tactical realty’s for every one who will come back from other games for the expansion who are rusty at the game. Thank you very much cool guy :)
You have a lot of good key points..... It's some of your points that. Makes me appriciate 6v6 so much because I am an aggressive player. Who like to go lone wolf sometimes.
Hey man ,just wanted to say great video and your others are awesome as well! U are a cool guy .... and u make quality content!thanks for your time and effort and the help u share with us guardians!!!
So far I’m actually liking competitive more than quickplay. Quickplay is usually always a sweaty match filled with graviton lance and vigilance wing. Where as competitive is strangely more casual. Even after ranking up once
Holy shit that nova bOOOOmb at 12:00, is there any trick to slovanova? I find myself being tracked by it perfectly through corridors. When I throw it it barely ever tracks and if id does it hits the wall instead of turning behind the wall...
Jacur1980 on corners, throw way outside. The tracking needs to see someone when you throw it. If it's a blind throw, it can sometimes be saved by shooting it if it's close to enemies
Good video. I feel like not enough people mention engagements. If you know you can get a trade get the trade. More likely than not most people peak shot and so if you think you might lose just keep firing maybe that one last stray trigger pull will count and get you the kill
Here's another important tip: use weapons you find fun, not the ones you find effective. I find that whenever I use "meta" weapons, I am very easily tilted and tend to not do as well against players of the same skill level. Whereas, when I use fun weapons, I am pleasantly surprised if I do good and slightly inconvenienced if I do bad. Meaning that tilt doesn't throw off my game.
I find it interesting for tip 3 for checking teams because yes it is very good information and important, but people need to learn how to not freak themselves out psychologically if they have a rare pvp emblem or are playing against good players. I've been in many teams where they check ELO, kd and stats then freak themselves out and (relating back to tip 2 on being confident) become negative about their chances of winning. It's a weird double edge sword that sometimes happens.
Is minuet/antiope a viable loadout for Ranked play? Antiope is by far my favorite gun in D2. But I also love handcannons. My most comfortable setup is HC/sub. But is it practical? Am I’m putting myself at a disadvantage by not having a long range weapon? What about Sturm/sub? Is this any more viable? Or should I just give up and not use a handcannon even though it’s my most practical weapon? I’m just so torn here because what is most comfortable to me might not be the most practical, and I don’t want to be at a disadvantage. Roughly a 2.0 eff. Playing on devourlock with blink. I doubt you'll be able to reply to this, but I figured it's be worth a shot. @CoolGuy
Hey coolguy love your mindset man. We're very alike in the confidence regard! Im the most positive guy out of everyone I play with. Most of them usually bitch and whine about getting killed and getting outplayed. But they never once reflect on their mistakes and improve on them. You earned a sub!
the struggle is real. sometimes ill be going off on a bend getting shot down by 3 or more players. ill kill one, maybe dodge or manuever and kill the 2nd, see my teamate in the general area of me and think " surely this person is going to help me win this gunfight againts this 3rd player " , and sure enough they either run the other way, or stand there and watch me die without shooting said player.
My favorite is when I have a random homie next to me, an enemy pops up and starts shooting, I shoot back, assuming my homie is there helping me... But nope! He took off. It's hard to never assume, because you think that people will think many of the same things in a given situation, but wow, we sure don't! In a game the other night, I watched a teammate chase after an enemy that was running away. He never took a shot as he was chasing. I kept yelling at the screen to shoot! Shoot! Eventually he got to a corner, following the enemy, and the enemy blasted him as he turned the corner. Next round, I decide to roll with this guy, hoping he'll work with me. I am slightly behind him, and once again he is chasing an enemy that's pretty far in front of him. My teammate is carrying his sword, hoping (I guess) to eventually catch up? I keep shooting when I can (enemy keeps turning corners around cover and such), hoping he will get the message, but he never shoots. He just keeps chasing with sword. He gets out into the open, and gets erased by the enemy and his buddy. In this example, our having been able to communicate might have helped a bit. It's too bad that Destiny doesn't make it easier to just engage your entire fireteam in a chat. Or send them all a quick message asking to chat.
As a solo player I find most of the time we lose because of stupid shit my teammates do like not watching the map and getting us flanked or my favorite running passed the heavy, Just running right the fuck passed it. And when playing control not heading straight for zone B or trying to camp when playing supremacy so getting the kills but never picking up the orbs or playing clash when its fucking zone control and completely ignoring the zones! Half my loses are due to my teammates being fucking retarded!!!
Great tips! I hate PVP, but I am overall pretty good in Iron Banner or Quickplay playlists. I concluded that I'd never get the Claymore, but then last week I decided, I have weekly Crucible milestones to complete, so why not do Competitive for those mandatory games, and see how things go? I am doing all right so far, but I find I do better when I am solo queuing than when I am with clanmates. Not sure why that would be -- SBMM puts us with better teams when we are in a team? Anyway, your points are very helpful. I will probably still not be able to get the Claymore, and I find Competitive to be so stressful (because now there are stakes!), but it's kind of hard to resist the challenge of it now. Getting to rank1 was not too hard, but wow, getting around that circle takes a lot more when trying for rank2! That was a bit of a gut punch. :)
Can you do a video for Quick Play players who want to understand Competitive strategy? More avg crucible players might want to give competitive a go in Warmind, but not be a liability to other randoms matches together, and not get totally steam-rolled by organized opponent fire teams.
My Role is Flank I run a SMG Shotgun and a long-range Scout or pulse like a Mida or a graviton lance with antiope-D. Why a Long Range? In case the enemy is at a distance.
Here's another tip: Use the loadout you're comfortable. Be brave. Break away from the meta. It's okay if your setup doesn't follow the slated meta. I swear off using "meta" weapons because they're boring. And I still have a good time. If you want, imagine grabbing someone's MIDA or Better Devils and smashing it on the ground. Break the mold. Be unique.
How do you aim so well? I can't ever aim on a console like I could on PC. Enemies have to be super still for me even to get a headshot with a sniper. Also I can't track headshots at all, but PvE I'm god-like with headshots.
I gotta say, I can't wait for Exotics to break up the monotony that is D2 Crucible. I play D1 daily and it is a different beast, 4v4 or not. Right now I would say the biggest issue for people not doing more dank flanks, is there is only the VW right now. Soon there will be many exotic and power choices to out play others. MAY 8th is practically here, stay positive guardians!
Yooo sloppy Joe here, GG bud, you should have gotten mangled by my arc staff. You were all there.. I don't know how you guys didn't get hit. So BE ahaha still. Good game
What if matchmaking actually prioritized the teams, as in, a full fireteam of 4 vs a full fireteam of 4? Trials does that every weekend, why can't the crucible? They could do this by automatically putting those fireteams in a separate pool on launch. They could do the same with fireteams of only 2 players at launch, like the doubles playlist, but still 4v4. Fireteams of 3 and solo players could be pooled, but only use the solo players to fill in the fireteam, not match a group of solo players against a fireteam of 3 + a solo. Also, what if matchmaking took your KD into account and matched you with players that have a similar KD, give or take 0.1? That way players between the ranks of say, 1.0 - 1.2 KD, or 0.7 - 0.9 KD would be matched together. There are still enough active players to do that, but maybe time that matchmaking out after 2 min or so to prevent a long wait time?
I'm not a amazing player but I hold my own very well but when guns are broken and usually every 2-3 months 1 of the 3 classes are Op as hell so you just gotta wait till it's your fav class that's the op 1
Idk why but i always rush without my team because im so used to being a lone wolf ya know and everybody was just camping and sticking together and i used my super and 4 of em died easily
If you are looking for a team, use the D2 companion app and post that you're looking for a fireteam. The friendlier you are the better. Don't be that guy that posts a bunch of requirements because you look like you just want to get carried. Tell people about yourself in the description.
I am a solo player, and pretty good to be honest...... in destiny 1. D2 has taken away that though and I've had to develop a new style. I'm winning over 75% of my matches since the update so something is going right.
To add on to the first part of the video. Tip 1. That needed to be said. There's no way around it. It's the truth in the end unfortunately. I could have left it out, but I felt it had to be there.

Tip for solo queing: Find a team -_-
I find that hilarious and sad at the same time :(
Anandu Nair IKR!!!
Anandu Nair same
Beyblade!!
It's a good tip :(
Here’s a tip, don’t bother, crucible is utter sh%t and demoralising.
As always, such a big help. You’re such a good teacher and we appreciate the reminders and tips for getting better.
You're content is just good. There's nothing else to be said. Thanks man. As a early 30s dad, I need all the tips I can get to snag the Claymore.

AquaJetEmpoleon warlock is a fucking beast.... I have all three and right now my least-favorite is the Hunter
Dakka, I feel the same way about the power ammo usage, I understand use everything you can but some people rely on it as a crutch.
agreed. this game has now become a meme. crucible is now a fucking joke with the graviton everywhere and the workhusk helmet for hunters. its incredible the massive amount of neglect bungie has shown this game its insane.

Sir Babz No You noob hunters is the best warlocks are slow and terrible idk about titans they probably matter fact defiantly Trash

All of this is spot-on accurate. Always a solo player. My thoughts exactly. Solo que sucks but makes you think more
This is the best video I’ve seen on this subject!

I totally agree with you because I'm a solo player and enjoy the battlefield on my own.
Thanks, starting comp and wins are the important part here.
The fact the destiny 2 doesnt have a solo duo and group que in 2018 is ridiculous
It's Bungle - NO ONE is surprised.

Thanks for the video man. I actually realized what was happening when i crucible. Will definitely change things

I love baiting the power ammo, and I'm good at it, I'm a master-baiter!
Good video. I'm going to need more of these if I am going to have a chance at getting the clamore.
Good tips man, you just got another subscriber 👌👌
Good video. I feel like not enough people mention engagements. If you know you can get a trade get the trade. More likely than not most people peak shot and so if you think you might lose just keep firing maybe that one last stray trigger pull will count and get you the kill
That's a good advice on PVP because I'm pretty a solo player most of the time.
I’ve been doing good in competitive and then I’ve been doing bad for some reason, thanks for these tips
Great video. Had a bad pvp session yesterday. This video helps put some things in perspective though.
It really helped my pvp mindset thanks
Watches post Season of Drifter*
Here’s Redrixs Claymore*
Looks the other way awkwardly
Here's another important tip: use weapons you find fun, not the ones you find effective. I find that whenever I use "meta" weapons, I am very easily tilted and tend to not do as well against players of the same skill level. Whereas, when I use fun weapons, I am pleasantly surprised if I do good and slightly inconvenienced if I do bad. Meaning that tilt doesn't throw off my game.
I need a battle buddy. Really good tips man. Thanks. Looking at PvP a whole new way now
I find it interesting for tip 3 for checking teams because yes it is very good information and important, but people need to learn how to not freak themselves out psychologically if they have a rare pvp emblem or are playing against good players.
@CoolGuy
solid tips, good work
Hey coolguy love your mindset man. We're very alike in the confidence regard! Im the most positive guy out of everyone I play with. Most of them usually bitch and whine about getting killed and getting outplayed. But they never once reflect on their mistakes and improve on them. You earned a sub!
Anybody looking to contract Ebola just needs to solo que grind no radar comp playlist for the claymore.
Do you have any tips for Shadowkeep 3v3 [solo queue] Survival?
"What is My TeamMate Doing?!" story of my life. LOL
Riakage R so many times XD...getting wrecked while solo by the entire enemie fireteam while thinking "where da f*ck is everyone?" Lol
the struggle is real. sometimes ill be going off on a bend getting shot down by 3 or more players. ill kill one, maybe dodge or manuever and kill the 2nd, see my teamate in the general area of me and think " surely this person is going to help me win this gunfight againts this 3rd player " , and sure enough they either run the other way, or stand there and watch me die without shooting said player.
Half my loses are due to my teammates being fucking retarded!!!
jayfore swords and sword users are terrible
Great tips vedio very useful and easy to understand
Great break down.
I’m going to use these tips for solo and for Duo queueing
What's the side arm you're using?
Can you do a video for Quick Play players who want to understand Competitive strategy? More avg crucible players might want to give competitive a go in Warmind, but not be a liability to other randoms matches together, and not get totally steam-rolled by organized opponent fire teams.
Hello Frevin ☺️
Would you marry me, please?😂😉
What’s the pulse rifle you’re using in this video?
Sage advice, thanks!
Thanks. Nice video.
Thanks for the tips
What was your load out on this footage? Relentless or the darkest before?
Best tip ever "Find your role"
That nova bomb tho 12:02
My Role is Flank I run a SMG Shotgun and a long-range Scout or pulse like a Mida or a graviton lance with antiope-D. Why a Long Range? In case the enemy is at a distance.
You have earned yourself a sub👍
Here's another tip: Use the loadout you're comfortable. Be brave. Break away from the meta. It's okay if your setup doesn't follow the slated meta. I swear off using "meta" weapons because they're boring. And I still have a good time. If you want, imagine grabbing someone's MIDA or Better Devils and smashing it on the ground. Break the mold. Be unique.
vary good tips
Awesome vid
still working on how to play pvp effectively team or solo que alike. but do play better with full fireteam of regular clan pvpers on voice chat.
Is it evene possible to solo queue the ranked pvp?
How bout they add solo que ?
To stay confident is the hardest part😂
How many points from rank 2 to rank 3??
How do you aim so well? I can't ever aim on a console like I could on PC. Enemies have to be super still for me even to get a headshot with a sniper. Also I can't track headshots at all, but PvE I'm god-like with headshots.
Wow! Who would have known
You're a cool guy for this video ;)
plot twist: he was in a fireteam with his clan
great video though, as always
I gotta say, I can't wait for Exotics to break up the monotony that is D2 Crucible. I play D1 daily and it is a different beast, 4v4 or not. Right now I would say the biggest issue for people not doing more dank flanks, is there is only the VW right now. Soon there will be many exotic and power choices to out play others. MAY 8th is practically here, stay positive guardians!
what abt hiding behind cover but their bullets fly thru it and kill u
What pulse was this?
I'm not a amazing player but I hold my own very well but when guns are broken and usually every 2-3 months 1 of the 3 classes are Op as hell so you just gotta wait till it's your fav class that's the op 1
how can i have fun when go around a corner at the start of the match and get shot by 3 graviton lance
Step 1: get rekt. Step 2: see step 1. Step 3: Be CoolGuy. jk
I need people to run competitive pvp with. Anyone know any good clans on Xb1? Or willing to help out? I have a 1.81
Did you just drop tips on how to succeed on a corporate team? You need to go on a corporate speaking tour 😉. Good stuff man.
How do I find lfg?
I need to engrave In my head tip #3 & #4 and sometimes 5ish lol
*"A lot of players are gonna be going for it?"* Hm... Nope. Nobody I know even bothered attempting to get it.
I still havent bothered
Idk why but i always rush without my team because im so used to being a lone wolf ya know and everybody was just camping and sticking together and i used my super and 4 of em died easily
If you are looking for a team, use the D2 companion app and post that you're looking for a fireteam. The friendlier you are the better. Don't be that guy that posts a bunch of requirements because you look like you just want to get carried. Tell people about yourself in the description.
I am so insanely hard on myself that it is absolutely painful.
Be. Aggressive. Be be aggressive. And use the hell out of the graviton lance to win 1v2's when they are bunched up.
I am a solo player, and pretty good to be honest...... in destiny 1.
D2 has taken away that though and I've had to develop a new style. I'm winning over 75% of my matches since the update so something is going right.
May 8th!
