I appreciate that you took your time to talk about the sound system... i have ditched cars i loved just because the music system was mediocre. So thank you for that detail.
Hello Bjørn, range with one battery load is very interesting, but furthermore would be very interesting to know how much you charged into the car from 0-100%. This is a very relevant parameter for many people that can't get electricity as cheap as in Norway. And it would also bring an idea about charge loss and real consumption. The displayed consumption has a big deviation in many models. It would be nice if you would add this information in your tests as well.
When Nio finally builds battery swap stations all over Norway, do one more 1000km challenge with battery swaps. I think it'll take the shortest time ever. Hopefully by then the EC6 and ET7 became available in Norway.
Appreciate the test and all the effort. But as a data nerd is it wise to change the baseline settings after the test has started? ie going from eco to custom? Doesnt that skew data results?
@@bjornnyland I watched the whole thing before I commented. I know you explained your reasoning and ultimately for this test, it didn't matter. But empirically for data, it has to remain consistent. But I also understand that the AC was being stingy. Your comfort is important. I'm just saying it's either grin and bear it. Or set the parameters consistently before the test for what you will be doing. I have been watching you for years and appreciate your work. This one just felt a little sloppy to me. But then again. I'm just a random guy on the internet.
I think the outside temperature plays a big role. Large parts of China are far more southern than northern Europe. Where I live (Xi'an) we had 20 degrees and sunshine today. Before I bought the ES8, I drove a BYD TANG II EV for 4 years. Its 82 kw/h battery also lost power significantly when it got colder and 6 degrees is already damn cold :)) I'm also not sure if eco mode and cumstomed mode are really comparable. The recuperation in eco mode is very strong. When you take your foot off the pedal in city traffic, it's almost like full braking. I am rather disappointed by the audio system. No brilliant highs, no really powerful basses. Nothing can be regulated, there is also no equalizer. Much worse than in the BYD TANG.
500 km WLTP is with 20" wheels. This car had 21". I think about 450-480 km should be possible if driven slower and with 20" wheels in 20-25 degrees outside.
WLTP is worthless, take WLTP*0.80 winter and 0.85 for summer and you are closer to reality. They drive too much at city speeds when they announce the range, i think EPA is better to look at first hand. NEDC on the flip side is pretty much driving the car at ~50km/h or perhaps downhill to get those crazy numbers 😂 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worldwide_Harmonised_Light_Vehicles_Test_Procedure
Isn't 2.6 bar in the tyres a bit low on such a heavy vehicle. My Model 3 even recommends 3.1 bar. Look at the info on the Nio screen referring to not drive with over 3.5 bar pressurebas it might affect safety. 2.6 just sounds very low, like in a fossil car. Might affect the range.
2.6 bar is what it says in the inside of the door. Remember that recommended tire pressure is not the same for every car. That's why they print it on the car and in the manual.
@@lusosaylor I understand that, but I do think it's not far away. "Tempolimit" is the applicable term. Might be soon, might be later, but it will come, because there is no real rational argument to defend it.
