So emotional. 7 years ago we traveled through Scotland, for 2 months. Those fantastic people, the nature, the bagpipes, the highlands, I miss this country.
We will be there on december 15th in Maastricht. Our first Christmas concert of them. But our second Andre Rieu concert and probebly not our last...love it
Words to Highland Cathedral ; Land of our fathers we will always be Faithful and loyal to our own country In times of danger we will set you free bring you to glory and to victory Hail Caledonia to our ancient prayer In this Highland Cathedral let our standards bear Joining together with one dream to share God bless our people of this land so fair Gone is the past let us start anew let this hope of peace always remain Spirit of Scotia be strong and true Then your children will smile again, again, again, again Rise Caledonia let your voices ring In this cathedral of our god and king Whom joy and liberty to all will bring Come let your heart with love and courage sing
Fantastic! Fantastic!! We can't let this go by without thanking Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra for entertaining us with another wonderful moment. Andre really knows how to do it, doesn't he? You might enjoy another moment he presented to us a while ago. Jermaine Jackson was an invited guest and he sang a song as a tribute to his recently departed brother, Michael. He sang the classic song, 'Smile'. By the time the song was over there wasn't a dry eye in the house including Andre and Jermaine. I cry every time I go back to see it. In fact, soon as I finish this comment that's exactly where I'm going!
This wonderful tune was played on my best pipes @ my dear wife's funeral. She always loved to hear it when my band played it! I used to play it @ home many times on my practice chanters. A great tribute to my beloved homeland. Pipe major john amderson. Sussex. England.
A truly international performance. A Scottish piece, composed by a German, played by an international orchestra in Holland with Dutch pipers and a Dutch leader.
The lady on 4:45 she was last evening also at the TV recording from a show that is called Aria (about opera) where i was as well. And just before the recording started, there were a few music nummers with this live version from Highland Cathedral from André Rieu. Then it was sooo coincedence that u recognized that lady and she goes more often to those kind of programmes and concerts she said to me
This is another incredible piece of music, and Andre has performed this on a number of occasions, and for the audience at Masstricht this year, this came only minutes after the mind blowing performance of Emma Kok, sensory overload doesn't come close, the pipes and drums marched on through the audience immediately after Emma finished, as I think I've commented elsewhere, Andre is the master at producing incredible shows, and bringing mind numbing experiences to the audiences that are there, another piece that has similar effects, also in this year's show is Bolero, it helps explain why every show he does is a sell out. Your reaction is so appropriate, you're discovering the Magic that Andre has spent 20 years perfecting, and if you're anything like me, it will change you, you'd have to have a heart of stone for it not to. Thank you for being willing to be open about your experience and feelings, and doing what you can to express why you feel that way,
He was in Thailand in 2018 , so I am affraid you will have to wait a while before you can visit an Andre Rieu concert in your country Paul !! regards Bert from the Netherlands
You looked shell-shocked bro lol. Try Flower of Scotland. Absolutely brilliant. Played both at my late Scottish husbands funeral, you can't get more Scots than Flower of Scotland. Love Andre Reau.
This was played at my sons wedding for the entrance of the bride. It is apopular choice at both weddings & funerals. This tune always gives me the feels. Magic
Brother, you are doing it right. You give me inspiration after them long days. Your positivity, man, goes miles for me. Keep it going, love what you are doing Brother. Great reactions, one after another. Love the channel. My personal favorite.
Yo highly, don’t comment too much ‘cause usually I’m too lazy or too busy with life, but for this one I just wanna say that it’s divine beauty brought me to tears of happiness, awe and amazement all at once and music has made me feel lots a’things before but nothing like this, it felt as if I was shining light, beautiful light
No sir you weren't the only one to have that wave of emotions wash over you. It has that affect on me every time I hear this piece of music, more so to this rendition. If I still drank I'd raise a wee dram te ye and wish you guid health, all the way from Aberdeen Scotland.
O man. This is as STUNNING as it is BEAUTIFUL. The Dutch/South African SUPER SOPRANO and VOCALIST Amira Willighagen should sing this song together with this UNBELIEVABLE FANTASTIC ORCHESTRA. Would be a WORLD HIT for sure. AMAZING.
Best piece written since Beethoven. Think germans wrote this one, though. Anyways, as long as the scottish folks like it, it must be alright. Take care and greetings from Gothenburg Sweden.
I love this orchestra. they play all over the world and wherever they are, Andre Rieu chooses some songs that have a meaning for the audience there, whether he plays in Australia, New York or an Italian town. And of course in his hometown Maastricht. The audiences really get moved during these concerts, and let tears roll or dance happily. Emotions, that is what music should bring and Andre makes that happen.
I feel it with this one as well, just like as Amazing Grace, with all the bagpipes together suddenly, april 30th 2013 when Willem Alexander went to be our new King, André Rieu was on the Museumplein (Museumsquare) here in Amsterdam for a free concert and then Amazing Grace came.. i was in tears, and still every time when i watch that piece again
Bro, you are not alone. This was Hong Kong police official anthem for a long time. It brought me to tears with this performance. Thanks for your reaction.
That is an amazing version . Highland Cathedral also used to be the Anthem for the Royal Hong Kong police and they played it along with the last post in 1997 at the last flag lowering of the British Union flag at government house Hong Kong basically ending British Hong Kong .
I think that The Netherlands is also the best with making those recordings images for TV/DVD just like with the Eurovision what they did! Do the Dutchies agree with that?
Highland Cathedral Land of my fathers, we will always be Faithful and loyal to our own country. In times of danger, we will set you free, Lead you to glory and to victory. As a proud scot i would like to say that this should have been picked as our national anthem - wordsmiths could have composed decent lyrics - so much better for the soul that the god awfull football dirge chant that we do have (well ok its patriotic n aww that but no a patch on this ) and yes i know it wasnt a scot who wrote it but dissnae matter laddie its a belter .
I'm a softy, yet I absolutely love dark dark humor. From what I've learned about you in your videos throughout the years is that you're the same. I was totally going somewhere with my comment, but I'm too stoned so I forgot.... Anywhoooooo...cheers brother. 😉🌷
If you liked this, you should really see Rieu's performance of "You never walk alone" and Sinatra's "My way", the latter being performed for a US crowd in Radio City Music Hall, NYC. At least just as moving as this video. Amazing!
Andre Rieu is okay, but no more. I heard it live and open air on a trip through the Highlands, played by about 60-70 bagpipers and more than a dozen drummers. It blew us away.
I've been in Ukraine 21 months. This is the song that is to be played by a piper if im killed here. 21 months fighting for freedom. Like the words say let the sea carry they're spirits home to where they're fathers lie. Im a fifer. If people know the words they will understand.🏴🇬🇧🇺🇦
I take my hat off to you young man, you prove by your actions that you are the very best that my country has produced, as an old ex service man I’m very proud of you.
I don't think there is a musical instrument which goes right into your soul when it's played like this. The only way to top it, is to play dozens of them....
If they don’t play this at my funeral I’m not going
😂😅🤣😂😅🤣
Me too mate
Wouldn't that be something, not showing up to your own funeral 😂
😂😂😂😂👏👏👏👏🏴🇬🇧
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😂😂😂
Im so happy your interest in Andre Riue... he is the best❤
Oui ..dans le public très souvent des gens pleurent d émotion !!❤
Yesss He willl wonderful with UK
So emotional. 7 years ago we traveled through Scotland, for 2 months. Those fantastic people, the nature, the bagpipes, the highlands, I miss this country.
As a Scot I appreciate your comment, I do think we are friendly and caring as a people. x
Andre Rieu & Company - simply marvelous!
Your reaction- PRICELESS!!
He is on UK TV every Christmas, 3 years ago we went to see him in Maastricht, not my Music, but wow what a night, will go again
I will be there next summer with three generations of the family.
We will be there on december 15th in Maastricht. Our first Christmas concert of them. But our second Andre Rieu concert and probebly not our last...love it
@@sylviadusink7815 yes I know he does concerts all around the world but it’s definitely special to see him in his home town
That is so special about André Rieu: you think it is not my Music, but when you are at the concert, you think: why didn’t I go sooner.
Love shows itself two ways: laughter and tears.
👏👏👏
Words to Highland Cathedral ;

Thank you. I didn't know there were words to it.
Très très beau texte aussi !!! Merci a vous de nous le donner...j adore ❤
Great tune you should watch the pipes and drums playing this at the tattoo🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
It also strikes me how at every performance the camera team always finds the most interesting, most amused most touched people in the audience.
most likely staged

Every time I visited the Jedburgh woollen mill they always played this. I had never heard it before but now this is my favourite bagpipe song

The melody Highland Cathedral was composed in 1982 by the German musicians Ulrich Roever and Michael Korb for the Highland Games in Germany.
A beloved Scottish song written by a German and bring played by a Dutch orchestra. That is what i love about Scotland
am effin Scottish love my country and the pipes makes me cry
So proud 🏴
He was in Thailand in 2018 , so I am affraid you will have to wait a while before you can visit an Andre Rieu concert in your country Paul !! regards Bert from the Netherlands
Impossível ficar indiferente às melodias do maestro André Rieu.....
Obrigada por mais esta partilha.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This woman is fantastic.❤
Always such a amazing show!
This one is gives the chills and tears and so beautiful i so Andre Rieu couple of times but this one hit home so close thanks Paul ❣️
Beautiful.
Our Grandson played this at my husband’s Fathers funeral xxx
A lot of scottish people have this played at their funerals. Hence why you see so many people getting emotional. It must bring back memories.
This was played at my dads funeral in march full pipies and drums version though no orchestra love this tune ❤
André Rieux et son orchestre l aiment ...c est très beau
Small countrys have not easy and Scotland also forget this sounds never
As a Canadian of Scottish decent, I've pre selected this piece as the opening music for my funeral.
Qual a história por trás dessa canção?
Sitting here in Glasgow and it's dusty here. You should hear it played by 200 pipers. She is a wonderful musician.
Home is where the heart belongs ❤🏴
Alba Gu Brath 🏴🏴🏴🏴
You looked shell-shocked bro lol. Try Flower of Scotland. Absolutely brilliant. Played both at my late Scottish husbands funeral, you can't get more Scots than Flower of Scotland. Love Andre Reau.
I’ve always wanted someone to do this, I pay the piper in princes street Edinburgh to play this very time I’m there. Thank you.❤❤
I love it i listen to the bag pipes most days awe best to everyone
We had this song played on a huge organ when leaving the church after our wedding ceremony
The red haired lassie who was mesmerised was 😍
This was played at my sons wedding for the entrance of the bride. It is apopular choice at both weddings & funerals. This tune always gives me the feels. Magic

Go and see the rendition from this year’s concert in Sydney that dropped today. I didn’t think they would top this performance. Man was I wrong.
I can't watch this without crying 😢 I so want to go to his concert in Maastricht 🧡
Andre plays famous music with so much power, no instrument is missing. Just like Phil Collins' music, there is no missing instrument in it !!!
If this was Scotlands national anthem they’d definitely get the players more hyped for their matches 😀
Loved the reaction when she started playing the bagpipes, top draw reaction pal

It's not too hard, speaking of Germans, to fit the immortal Ninth to the pipes: just have to go an octave up on the F.
WOW !! thankyou for your reaction !!! Much love XXXX
Beautiful goosebumbs
I love this orchestra. they play all over the world and wherever they are, Andre Rieu chooses some songs that have a meaning for the audience there, whether he plays in Australia, New York or an Italian town. It gives us goosebumps!
saw him in glasgow earlier this year , loved it , so want to go to maastricht to see him , it would be amazing !!
I am, sitting here with my wife listening who was born a West and her grandfather was born in John West Scottish family home .
Everything Andre and his orchestra does is amazing. Check out "Belle Ciao".

Bro, you are not alone. This was Hong Kong police official anthem for a long time. It brought me to tears with this performance. Thanks for your reaction.
This is Scotland's Music God's Country
Wow absolutely love this ❤
Love it, I saw him in London brilliant

Highland Cathedral
Land of my fathers, we will always be
Faithful and loyal to our own country.
In times of danger, we will set you free,
Lead you to glory and to victory.
Hail, Caledonia, to our ancient prayer,
in this Highland Cathedral, let our standards bear,
Joining together with one dream to share,
God bless the people of this land so fair.
Gone is the past, let us start anew,
Let this hope of peace always remain,
Spirit of Scotia, be strong and true,
then your children will smile again.
Rise Caledonia, let your voices ring
in this Highland Cathedral of our God and King,
Whom, joy and liberty, to all, will bring,
Come, let your heart, with love and courage, sing.
Beautiful! 🤩
BRAVO!!!

Belter, aye. But FOS is no dirge. Just whatever you do, don't let it drag!
I'm a softy, yet I absolutely love dark dark humor.

I was totally going somewhere with my comment, but I'm too stoned so I forgot....
Anywhoooooo...cheers brother. 😉🌷
She learned how to play those bagpipes within 2 weeks!! How??
HXC : gostava de ver uma reação á música " O Fortuna" de Carmina Burana, tocada pelo maestro André Rieu e sua JSO.
Obrigada e boa noite.
Wishing you a great weekend ✌️🇳🇱
Beautiful...😊
If you don't like Andre Rieu you are truly missing out on life.
Give praise to the pipe band in the background !! I am Scottish and yes she was brilliant but without the pipe band it would not sound the same !
Scotland has adopted this tune as their second anthem
I didnae ken that hen.
If you liked this, you should really see Rieu's performance of "You never walk alone" and Sinatra's "My way", the latter being performed for a US crowd in Radio City Music Hall, NYC. At least just as moving as this video. Amazing!

Have you seen his show in Tel Aviv where they played Jerusalem of gold? If not, you should….
Andre Rieu is okay, but no more.
I heard it live and open air on a trip through the Highlands, played by about 60-70 bagpipers and more than a dozen drummers.
It blew us away.
I would love to know what you think of the songs played by Music Show Scotland !
🙏
Best vocal version is by Will Martin
🤗🍒🤘🏻 well done
0:02 Rita Verdonk!😂
Nah, die kon géén meerdere instrumenten bespelen...!
-alleen de valse fluit 🤔
This should be our National Anthem
Flower of Scotland suits me fine when it is sung with sheer Scottish Passion no Nation does it better than the Scots .
I took my daddy to see him. Northern Irish = Scottish. I have proof of that. Anyway, road block. My father had one of the best nights in his life.
Do we have to look at "Hat" boy?

Aye its decent but not quite as good as 200 pipers walking out of Edinburgh castle at the military tattoo
Now THAT gives the goosebumps!!!!
Pipes only
5 million people are Scottish and 5 billion wanna be Scottish
Bet America would love this it's ours not yours
