- After finalizing the rear wheel arch cut outs on the custom 1939 Hudson Big Boy build, we brace the edges with round bar. I show you a neat little jig that is used for perfect fitment. Then we look at different options for building a possible fender skirt. Which option is your favorite?

No skirt Diff.
No skirt please!
Yep my vote too. No skirt
No skirt
No skirt....coz, with even the "midi skirt", from the top of cut out to top of actual fender start to look like you've got a tractor tyre on...too much metal in that spot...
same here. take her skirt off!!!
Diff, I think it looks great at both ride height and slammed with no skirt. Matches the front wheel opening. Loving the build!
Awesome.
I’m not good at this utube stuff just turning 70 next month but follow u religiously especially the renobug love power to weigh I’m building a FJ van 1954 and have turned in into a hotrod 2 “ chop, tilt front, long way to go. Hope I have enough time left but who cares I’m enjoying the trip cheer
I prefer the no skirt look. But if you do the mini skirt, then consider using a larger sweeping radius at the bottom front. I love your craftsmanship!
HEY DIFF! I can see that I am out numbered but I like the full skirts. It keeps them guessing. Adding the piece back on to the fender radius was the right move I.M.O. Great show and thanks for sharing. Cheers!
I also like the full skirts but I think he should maybe do it for both front and back then
@@damianwheeler9 I’m gonna put full skirts on my coupe. I think it gives it an attitude. Not sure about front skirts tho. I for sure don’t have the clearance
No skirt
I am stuck somewhere in between, hence my comment above.
i'm racist and think skirts should only be on cars .. not trucks
I enjoy your channel. Great tips and "lekka" ideas. I believe I prefer the " No Skirt" look the best, good looking wheels can create the most vivid first impression at a show or on the road. Cheers!
Good work Div. I think it looks best with no skirt. Matches the front wheel opening. 👌🏼
Div, I really like it without the skirt. Gives it a balanced look with front. The full skirt looks great if you're going for the '50-60's full custom look.
I should have read these comments first before commenting! Sorry mate, I didn't mean to copy you. You're perfectly correct. I'm an older gent and appreciate style. Remember the '80s and the 'Dare to be different' school? I understand why the rodding press were suggesting it. All the desirable originals were selling for crazy prices. So look outside the box. Ok cool. Then builders went nutz with styles and paint jobs that just did not 'fit' if you know what I mean. Some actually 'worked' but man, others were horrendous! Sure it's your build, but give it some thought. Atb, Pete UK
I vote for no skirt. That leaves the nice wheels in full view front and back, and I think the fender looks better without the skirt. Great video Diff!
You did an absolutely fantastic job on those rear fenders. I must admit, I didn’t care for the look of them until you finally finished them, and they looked better than I imagined they would. My vote is no skirt.!
Absolutely beautiful work! Thanks for Video!
Hello Div, really like the fender without the skirt, I believe it matches the front fenders much better. Take care Boet and have a Lekka day. 👍
I totally agree. Less is more. But on the other hand Im so convinced that whatever Div "dreams up" it'll be just right!
The truck is coming along nicely and I also think it looks best with no skirt.
Love your work Div.
Love those little clamp on jigs also.
My vote -No Skirt.
You got to show off those shiny rims IMO
It's looking great so far, the only thing that looks odd is how high the lower angle on the rear of the fenders. I do love the tools you create and share with us. And no skirt looks best
Your fender shape came out great. I vote to show off that. No skirts needed.
My vote is for the mini skirt. Looks so cool...
I vote for it too..shows his creativity.😊😮
I am always interested to see the jigs and fixtures that you come up with. I make and use things like that in the tooling shop all the time. Love seeing your ideas. Since I love the wheels on the truck , my preference would be no skirts. A Wednesday video caught me by surprise as I always expect you on Sunday afternoon. Very nice work Div.!
Thanks Randy!
My favorite is the Midi skirt. Great build! You're a lot of inspiration to me and my build.
You got an eye for creativity...I agree with you !
I have a weak spot for Hot-Pants, so ditch the skirt idea and show all the legs.
serious, it looks perfect without the addition of more steel. and more practical.
great trick with the round rod again Diff! 👍
Mini skirt?....yes!
I vote for none, like to see the rims. I really enjoy your way of presenting what you are doing, keep it up !~
No skirts the ride height is perfect and the lay frame height shows off those beautiful wheels. You don't want to hide them that's like building a covered bed with a tailgate. Take care Diff.
Mini skirt for me every time👌
The legs look better with the skirt off Another good one Diff 👍
I like the mid skirt, but having the option to do full, mid, or no skirt is always there it looks great in all dam i like that truck.
Thanks!
The middy skirt but set the truck at ride height, and cut it so it still shows the center of the wheel hub.
I love your attention to detail. I think it looks great with no skirt.
Scratch the skirt, Diff.
Simply an amazing build.
Mini shirt for the win, or make both and change it up when you feel like a change.
Mini skirt ! Mini skirt ! 😊
The mini is sick! And you still have the option to go undressed….
Sending love from Long Beach Mississippi on the Gulf of Mexico!😎
Thanks bro!
@@ratrodsafrica man you’re welcome!
Awesome little jig that you made to hold the round bar in place. Great idea.
Thanks 👍
Awesome, truck is looking phenomenal! Skirts would be cool I think!
Another great video, once again you produce some superb quality work. Your methodical approach shows in the final product and I like that you think before you leap in. I also like the balance you strike between the talking and explaining versus the actual practical execution, you don’t waffle on and on and repeat yourself like some content producers, I think you understand that most of your subscribers have some level of practical understanding and knowledge and I like that you don’t treat us like we’re all clueless. Keep up the good work brother it’s a thoroughly entertaining watch and one of my favourite channels. Michael Uk 🇬🇧
Thanks Michael! Really appreciate your words man. Yes, I don't view my subscribers as idiots...🙂
@ratrodsafrica , thank you, from an idiot, who absolutely loves your work and your show.
✌️😎👍 👌🥴👍
HA HAA HA HAA HA!
@gordonstroup882 like I said, my viewers are not idiots bro. Only the others😂
I think the midi-skirt looks great 👍🏻
No skirt or mini skirt cut up to wheel center when slammed..,
Absolutely love the build..,
I really like the MIDI skirt look
The truck is looking great Div. I like the mini skirt look myself.
Hi Div... the build is coming along nicely... my vote is the midi skirt... good to see you are well. Keep going. Theo
Right on..mini skirt has a bit of class..it is different.
MIDI skirt for sure!
Looks great without a skirt, whichever you prefer it's going to look great 👍
I like the mini skirt look, you do great work. I would love to do excellent work like you
I like the midi-skirt. Hello from Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Love your channel. Have a lekka one!!
Good call😊😊😊
Thank you! You too!
👍
✌ cool jigs vote no skirts looks excellent nice work
Greetings from Princeton, Texas! I like No Skirt. Great work Amigo!
midi, Diff great work can’t wait to see the rat rod completed.
Midi skirt in as is version. Looks just right at ride height.
Good call..😊😮
Mini skirt like all the tools and jigs you come up with pretty smart
Thanks!
Right on..😊😊
No skirt love the way it matches the front fenders great job love the build
Hey Diff, you are quite a genius when it comes to all those gadgets you make, they are so cool and work so perfectly!
As for the rear fenders, I think I like no skirts, I like how it matches the front arches, think it flows better like that. Have a great rest of the week!
Thanks brother
Looks best to my eye with no skirt. I really enjoyed the way you approached solving the cutout. Nicely shaped and balanced.
Looks better without skirt.keep up the good work, love what you do.
Definitely the mini skirt. great work as per usual Div!
Love your constantly building specific tools and fixtures for your needs. The end results are much better as a result. More beautiful work as always!
Thanks brother!
Brilliant build Div… definitely no skirt, I think there will be way too much steel on the back end if you do, the balance between front and rear is great the way you have it with just the open arch…
You’re right there needs to be some ‘shiny stuff’ on view. Looks good in all height positions with open arch…
Such a great build, thank you for sharing your skill and ideas 👍
Thank you!
Looks great my friend.
looks better without the skirts
This sled is off the chain ⛓️!!!!!! Love it
I love the openings now...they just go with the rounded feel...no skirts to hide those lekka wheels
No skirt. Awesome work, the truck is amazing. Have a Lekka one.
I would go no skirt, i really like the tool you made to hold the round bar in place, that was clever.
Thanks
Great video diff, keep up the great work. I would go with no skirt.
All four wheel wells should match in my eye. Front skirts too maybe, but I vote drop the skirts altogether. 😊
No skirt is my choice! Great job all around!
Love your cardboard drawings and diagrams. The truck looks ultra cool man
Thanks man!
Midi skirt looks best of the three, I think. But maybe increase the arch of the skirt a little bit for when the car is slammed. Looks really good when it's aired up though, when you can see the center of the wheel.
I fully agree with you.
I like the midi skirt. Love your show. My husband is really impressed with your trucks and tools you make.
Hope he hangs on that mini skirt.😊😊
In the Army we sang: "Dyna, Dyna, show us a leg" My centiment is No Skirt
Wys daai been!
I prefer the “no skirt “ option Diff. I really liked the 6mm wire edge jig , very clever. (Again ! )
The Rat Rod just gets better and better. I vote no skirt . 👍👍
Mini Skirt, Brudda Diff! Hell, it's a damn good looking ride, either way.
Thanks!
Those fenders in the beginning I was like mmmmm yaa maybe but once you cut them and put the little bit back on it it looks good ... I vote no skirt.
Again well done 👏
As always your videos are both entertaining and educational but I prefer no skirt as it fits in better with the front mudguard and shows off the wheels better
No skirt
It's looking good Div, I think without a skirt looks best 👍
I like the mini skirt or no skirt best. Enjoy your shows
No skirt...
Love your work, and no skirts!
Seeing it with and without the skirts. I can say I definitely like it best without the skirts.
the mini skirt wasn't so bad but always liked seeing what's behind the skirt
😂
Trucks coming along , , Very nice work as usual .... I'm voting full skirt & Speed Holes !!!
hello from TEXAS USA DUF I LOVE THE MINI SKIRT ON REAR FENDER OVER THE FULL
I like it without skirts Diff but you need to do what makes you happy ~ Great work my friend
I like the mini skirt
I like the midi skirt best.
If the “middy” skirt had a bit more taken off to show half the wheel at fully slammed that would be very cool but it’s your rat Div.
Wow this is what you called one man trash is another man treasure
Love this build man it's way cool ,in my humble opinion no skirt needed
diff i like the no skirt the best nice job its looking brill have a good one
I vote Mini skirt!
Show off some of those awesome wheels.
No skirt diff love what you do brother
No skirt vote for me. Although I did like the full skirt when it was completely aired more than I thought I would. You are quite the talented fabricator. So enjoyable to watch you work.
I've never been a fan of skirts, but I like your mini on this truck it's lekka.
I think I meant mini skirt. The last choice mentioned. The whole project is cool, whatever you do.
Right call ! 😊
Thank you for bringing us along on this journey. I vote no skirt on this girl .
Div Most trucks of the 40's and 50's, if they had fender skirts, showed the wheel center at ride height. I vote for a skirt that shows the wheel center.
i like the no skirt.best.i like the builds you.
mini skirt, because I'm a bum and leg man.. lol. yeah, i say fine tune the ends and mini skirt it. it sure does look slick slammed down on the ground. can't wait tell part 37.
No skirts would be my choice! Great job so far,!
The mini skirt looks awesome👍
Very cool jig for installing the 1/4 round 👍cheers from California
Thanks 👍
