    Yes steel structures are the same way as well bolting and riveting are the best way to maintain the strength. There are places where welding cannot be done. And then there are areas that can be welded. Your Idea of bolting and following the same design has been proven to work. Can't wait to see the continuance of your awesome Gold line.     That's how it's done right, no drilling or welding in the top flange, and no drilling in the side web within 60mm of the top flange unless a 6mm+ plate is added over the top flange and drilled side web hole. Nice fabricating.

    Dif, your steel supplier is ten times as nice as anyone of the three I go to, I was impressed at the way everything was so clean and organized. A man could go goofy dreaming of all the possibilities after seeing all that beautiful steel and hardware begging to go home him.       Thanks brother! My whole life I've been asking the WHY question about everything. Its now second nature with me🙂I do believe all of us should question the why more! So much BS floating around and people accept half truths too easily... The WHY is more important than the HOW!

    The angle of bed discussion was great. Very simply explained a great teacher. I used to do a small bit of metallurgy on copper cable. Very interesting checking radius’s measurements and cracks under microscope. Doing tensile breaking fatiguing etc. really enjoyed it.

    Great to see 👀 a proper job !! On a ramp truck ..I saw a guy in Canada build one out of angle iron and muffler pipe ..lol ??? Good to see it done PROPERLY ✔️

      It's only done wrong if it doesn't work. I've seen some stuff that would be sketchy by today's standards that was built a long time ago and still holds.

    I felt sorry for you living out in the bush in a relatively backward country. After seeing where you go for steel, I envy you. I would have to drive 200+ miles to find a shop like that. The only sheet of steel that I have purchased cost me for crating it up and shipping. Unbelievably expensive. Thank you for taking the time to post your projects.

    Yoooo!! Div!! Man you are making some progress there boet!!! Love how you explained how you got the angle of the rear of the ramp to avoid bottoming out when loading something. Also enjoyed learning why they rivet cross members/ braces from the factory was to allow for flexing of the chassis/frame rails. The big ramp truck is gonna be a beast!!! And excellent recylcing of the metal 😃 Excited for the next one!!!!

    Hey Div,
    The Ramp Truck is looking good. The idea of using the rubber from a conveyor belt is a very good idea. You could also use non-radial multi-ply tires. I know that my Grandfather used them on his Grain Truck when he still lived out on the farm.
