@Kzn Nzn jeez so much hate. I am a single guy and have 3 toilets in my house. Ever wish to use a restroom in an emergency... you're most welcome smartass(sarcasm obviously).
It’s refreshing to have a review of a budget card where the reviewer isn’t whining about it’s performance at “Ultra settings with Uber high resolution texture packs!” This is relevant, especially after the same channels that panned budget cards ran a piece saying “it’s stupid to run max settings.”
Ya I hate that. I get that it's useful for pushing cards to their limit to chart their performance but it heavily skews the results. For example a GTX 1060 might get ~75 FPS @ Medium/High settings and barely 40 FPS at Ultra and yet there's only a slight increase in visual quality between the two, or perhaps you have to sacrifice something dumb like volumetric fog or not use things like TAA. Conversely, something like an RTX 3080 might get 157 FPS @ Medium/High settings and 110 FPS at Ultra (theoretically, same game as the GTX 1060) So it makes the GTX 1060 look way way worse than it actually is. Like I said, it skews the results and doesn't show good real-world examples, which makes people think they NEED those 80-class and 800-class cards to get an enjoyable experience.
The gpu was struggling at medium settings at 1080p in cp 2077, imagine future real current games, it is very realistic to test games to se how well it will fare, and this gpu was born underpowered.
Great look at a new card, nice to know what it's capable of even if the prices are pretty unknown. I had hoped the -50 cards wouldn't need more power than just the pcie slot but I suppose that low power of a card may not even be made into a full discrete GPU nowadays.
You are pure legend , i hope you reach 500K subs soon . Best videos ive seen on whole youtube in this category , i mean benchmarks and pc stuff , unique way of edit and commentary makes you better then other benchmark channel for me .
Dont know why you kept texture resolution to medium and low in some cases. Isnt it impacts mostly the video memory and just a bit the overall performance.
I would have liked a comparison to similarily priced older used cards like 970/980, 1070 or 2060 at the end or in the conclusion as your viewers are on a more strict budget for the most cases. Thank you for your real life testing!
When ray tracing first came out the 2060 was considered inadequate for implementation of it therefore I bought a 2070Super. Now they release the 3050 with ray tracing and I have to wonder if it wouldnt have been a better idea to have installed something else in place of the ray tracing cores ,say more cache memory or compute units? But its just a marketing gimmick anyway right
Raytracing is the gimmick, RT cores have a ton of useful, but situational features. Most importantly, DLSS helps with 1440p and even VR (if you can set it up correctly). There's also stuff like Nvidia broadcast if you do streaming. I own both a 1660s and 2070s and personally, I find these features very useful. If we were in an ideal world, this is definitely a buy vs the already very good value 1660s since they are priced very closely. But again, reality sucks.
While testing Fortnite you always must turn the settings down to low, since its eSports game literally almost nobody plays it over low preset, so high preset results are irrelevant if we don't get low settings results as well.

@@RS-nq8xk yea, its hard now to get anything Nvidia. If you don't need CUDA, its best to go with RDNA2 especially with the consoles being RDNA2. The new games coming out are much faster on RDNA2.
I've seen single fan palit go for as low as £289 on scan and novatech. even cheaper on ebay. I got dual fan for £300 from softcat. It's actually the only card that has seen decent stock levels with constants restocks all the time cause it's of no use to miners. you need to remember nvidia msrp doesn't include tax which is 20% in uk and since this gpu didn't have a founders edition manufacturers tend to sell a bit higher as they decide how much extra to charge for their build/fans/rgb on the card etc.
I was shocked when I realised that this low end GPU has 8 GB VRAM. Seeing the rapid change of tech makes me sad. Even 4-5 years ago you could play almost every game with a decent framerate only with a 2 GB GPU.
Yep, nowadays games like Cyberpunk and Resident Evil Village use upwards of 6+ GB for 1080p high settings, 8 GB really feels like it's the bare minimum now

Nvidia marketing is trying to disguise that it's a $300+ card, labeled to compete with cards that sold _new_ for around $99 USD. That's one gripe against it. That said, this would have been a great choice for handling the grunt of encoding for the PC I was arranging for that purpose. Problem is, I still needed something around a 3080 or better for my main PC, first.

Been watching many reviews on the RTX 3050. From what I can see this card performs similarly to the older GTX 1070 (released June 2016) and the newer GTX 1660 Super (released late October 2019). Enabling ray tracing also seems to significantly reduce the performance of this card.
Yeah, and from what I have seen in Japan the pricing for these has made a non super 1660 for 20% lower prize and a 12GB 2060 for like 10% more seem like good value... haha
its basically a rtx 2050 in terms of where it stands in the nvidia lineup. about 10 percent slower than a 2060. id compare it to a 1660 ti but has dlss and raytracing capabilities.
@@Kotnan that's the mobile version of the 2060 though. The mobile chips do not perform on the same level as their desktop counterpart due to TDP limitations.
While its a gpu that loses out to 1070, for me this card looks like a future classic to the home theater crowd with its $250 entry point to AV1 encoding. This is like buying a 1050 or a cheap quadro for nvenc
I bought the palit rtx3050 dual oc right at launch, and must say that i have been beyond impressed considering the price. I game at 1080 p 60fps, so this card is perfect in that segment, and reaches 60+fps on most modern titles with high/maxed settings. You also gain a lot more from dlss at this resolution, averaging aboout 20 frames extra without any noticeable drop in visual quality. No use buying a more expensive card or more powerful card, because then i have to dish out on a new tv or expensive monitor to enjoy the benefits. Nvidia really did 1080p gamers a solid with this
Because it goes higher than 75w ? Even modern 300w PSUs can use a power cable. Unless you simply dont like it going higher than 75w regardless for some other reason. I wouldnt get this card though, because in a normalised market it would probably be similar to a 2070 when compared to the performance of other 3000 cards, and cheaper.
Not bad, seems like a decent 1080p card. I wouldn't want to use it at 1440p due to how it tends to struggle more, and that lower settings have to be used. I'd rather use medium or high settings at 1080p, than low settings at 1440p. Plus, my laptop displays and/or external monitors don't support higher than 1080p anyway, so I wouldn't see any noticeable improvement. All we need now is for GPU prices to come back to reality (instead of super expensive) and all is good.
So I sold my gaming PC to try and scale down my gaming habits a bit... I opted for getting a notebook with decent specs... something with an RTX3050 was in my budget, I was expecting it to be rubbish... I was blown away at what this laptop can handle, so this is quite cool to see. The RTX3050 is pretty decent.
I really like this card, great performance for price that's if the prices don't sky rocket high like the others. I love to get one of these sometime down the line to upgrade my portable PC I built. I'm currently running 3080 ti in personal rig, also great video as always! 😃❤️
Dude i so wish you would test NIS as it works in ALL your games and that is a true gift to budget gamers just like radeon super res will be next month when it comes out
I got one of these to tie me over, managed to cop one from a decent retailer with next day free shipping for 230 quid. I know it's not great compared to what it used to be but it's certainly not bad in the current market at all. Google shopping works wonders sometimes...
So I have some issues with the 3050. Generally it feels like a good card and it's nice to have it on the market. However it destroys 1 thing. The "50" cards for the past several years were 75W and most models ran on PCIE power only. The 3050 using extra PCIE power basically means the "drop in" OEM card is dead... unless Nvidia releases an RTX 3030 for LOW end DLSS.
My dude! I have the same gigabyte 1080 you’ve done previous videos on. I think a good idea would be this card vs the 1080 since they are kinda similarly spec’d. Just an idea. You the man!
i run most of the games on high-very high at FHD and they run at 60fps mostly. Even if 3050 is close in performance or a bit weaker it should not cost above 300e. If they sell it for over 400e, that gonna be complete rubbish.

Honestly love this review. Instead of others always hitting high-ultra settings. Its nice to see which settings closely hit 60FPS.
Really appreciate the video. As of March 20, writing this comment. This card here in BAHRAIN is currently 149.900 BHD which is about 398 US Dollars.
In general I don't bother with ray-tracing unless I can still stay at a steady 60 FPS. Cyberpunk looks very pretty with it on but I get huge drops below that even with DLSS so I don't bother.
I can get 70-80 with rtx on using a 3070ti and a r5 5600x at 1080p.

It’s refreshing to have a review of a budget card where the reviewer isn’t whining about it’s performance at “Ultra settings with Uber high resolution texture packs!”
This is relevant, especially after the same channels that panned budget cards ran a piece saying “it’s stupid to run max settings.”
Conversely, something like an RTX 3080 might get 157 FPS @ Medium/High settings and 110 FPS at Ultra (theoretically, same game as the GTX 1060)
So it makes the GTX 1060 look way way worse than it actually is.
It's so weird my 9600GT didn't have one. I was so confused at first.
You are pure legend , i hope you reach 500K subs soon . Best videos ive seen on whole youtube in this category , i mean benchmarks and pc stuff , unique way of edit and commentary makes you better then other benchmark channel for me .
Hope there'll be a version that works with just the PCIe slot power, these cards are usually nice to throw in a decent office computer.
1080p 200fps excel gaming
Definitely i will get this card to create a mini ITX build.
I had one in my cart at 250, but the thing clearly sold out before I could enter payment details. Shame!
Hopefully it’ll be back
It's basically an RTX enabled 1070 which isn't a bad thing if you can get it at MSRP.
@Kzn Nzn that's the problem
Dont know why you kept texture resolution to medium and low in some cases. Isnt it impacts mostly the video memory and just a bit the overall performance.
I didn't get it too.
But its just a marketing gimmick anyway right
With Dlss it works great. Without dlss not so much
Compared to what a boon dlss is, ray tracing is still like nothing more then a resource hog gimmick
But again, reality sucks.
minecraft is basically the only reason reason RAY TRACING is even relevant right now
Thats not how this works.
Its a cut down 3060 die they cant just make the rt cores dissappear
While testing Fortnite you always must turn the settings down to low, since its eSports game literally almost nobody plays it over low preset, so high preset results are irrelevant if we don't get low settings results as well.
Benchmark don't need the settings to be messed with. Just Max it and check the fps. Whats the point of running on low preset on benchmarks anyway?

Former, not likely. Latter, indeed.
Nice for getting the card sent to you dude!!!
In the UK the MSRP is meant to be £250 and for an xx50 card that is pretty expensive. The cheapest I can find one is for £360.... Dififfcult times to build a PC
RX6500XT... it plays games just fine in 1080p especially if you adjust textures of AAA games to not exceed the VRAM.
Yeah if you build a PC from scratch a 6500XT/6600/6600XT seem like the better options. If you really need Nvidia the low end models of 3050 cards or (maybe in some markets) even a 12GB 2060...
It's actually the only card that has seen decent stock levels with constants restocks all the time cause it's of no use to miners. you need to remember nvidia msrp doesn't include tax which is 20% in uk and since this gpu didn't have a founders edition manufacturers tend to sell a bit higher as they decide how much extra to charge for their build/fans/rgb on the card etc.
see every other major review channels dont show what it takes to get 60 fps with the new cards. this is so much more helpful.
I was shocked when I realised that this low end GPU has 8 GB VRAM. Seeing the rapid change of tech makes me sad. Even 4-5 years ago you could play almost every game with a decent framerate only with a 2 GB GPU.
Yep, nowadays games like Cyberpunk and Resident Evil Village use upwards of 6+ GB for 1080p high settings, 8 GB really feels like it's the bare minimum now
Yeah I made 2GB go a long way back in the day 😂
5 years ago the 1050 was released with only 2 GB VRAM...that's a huge jump.
@RO Almost only GPUs from older series are below this. It is the weakest RTX 3000 card. So this is low end.
@RO 1660 is the sbsolute low end nowadays for a decent experience. Suffering from 30-59 fps is not an option lol

Nvidia marketing is trying to disguise that it's a $300+ card, labeled to compete with cards that sold _new_ for around $99 USD. That's one gripe against it.
That said, this would have been a great choice for handling the grunt of encoding for the PC I was arranging for that purpose.

Huh, I didn't realize any of the 3050s would have 8gb of vram. How would this compete with a rx 6600?
its about 20-25% worse than a rx6600

Gets stomped by the RX 6600, but that's to be expected, given that the 6600 is meant to be a $329 card and the 3050 is meant to be a $249 card. Comparing different price points doesn't help.

Been watching many reviews on the RTX 3050. From what I can see this card performs similarly to the older GTX 1070 (released June 2016) and the newer GTX 1660 Super (released late October 2019). Enabling ray tracing also seems to significantly reduce the performance of this card.
Yeah, and from what I have seen in Japan the pricing for these has made a non super 1660 for 20% lower prize and a 12GB 2060 for like 10% more seem like good value... haha

While its a gpu that loses out to 1070, for me this card looks like a future classic to the home theater crowd with its $250 entry point to AV1 encoding. This is like buying a 1050 or a cheap quadro for nvenc
Man if they reduced the power consumption by a bit, it could have been a banger LP card
This is a solid card for 1080p+.
It sounds like it's currently overpriced, though.
Nvidia really did 1080p gamers a solid with this
Our boy is a day one hardware reviewer. Congratulations.
One thing that is not discussed is the height of the card which is taller than the case bracket. It makes fitment to smaller cases quite challenging.
Wish the laptop version has 8 gigs as well
That it isn't 75 watts really is a bummer. It can't be a replacement for the 1050 ti

This also means no LP cards either unless the 3030 exists.
Well...this GPU is too much for any old Dell i5 4th gen and older...
Thanks for the including RT clips on the video. One thing which i`m curious , was that single fan card loud when you played?
My dude! I have the same gigabyte 1080 you’ve done previous videos on. I think a good idea would be this card vs the 1080 since they are kinda similarly spec’d. Just an idea. You the man!
The 1080 destroys a 3050.
i run most of the games on high-very high at FHD and they run at 60fps mostly. Even if 3050 is close in performance or a bit weaker it should not cost above 300e. If they sell it for over 400e, that gonna be complete rubbish.
