    Servous Flo! I have learned to sear meat in the oven, it's hands off and doesn't spatter grease all over the stove top. 230-260 °c for about 15 minutes. Spread the meat on a sheet pan in an even layer, a little bit of oil and salt. Don't add pepper yet,as pepper burns and gets bitter with high temps. Love your channel friend.

      I just love cooking hands on with all the stirring, tasting, improving! If that means a greasy stove, then so it shall be 😅.
      But one day i will shoot a video about Schweinebraten or Schweinshaxe or the like and that I will definitely do in the oven.

    Hi Flo. This one is your / German goulash soup. I'm a Hungarian, and we make gulyás soup differently; it's not a critique, mate. What you made is a beef stew / marha pörkölt for me. Please try to add more significant cuts of carrots and potatoes, less meat and red wine, also more water next time. One more time it's not a critique, keep up the good work mate, can't wait for another videos.

      You are absolutely right about the difference between the Hungarian Gulyas and the Pörkölt. I once had the opportunity to cook a genuine gulyas in a kettle over an open fire with a couple of guys from hungary and damn it was delicious!
      If you order a Gulaschsuppe in a german restaurant, you will get kind of a fusion between Gulyas and Pörkölt. Often it will be more watery than mine, sometimes with potatoes or mushrooms but the same concept.
      Someone who looks for the authentic hungarian kind might not search for "Flo's German Kitchen" 😅
      Cheers, mate! 🍻

      Did you know that term has nothing to do with "rutschen" (slipping)?

    • @FlosGermanKitchen
      @FlosGermanKitchen  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@anthonykwietniewski5043 Actually it's derived from Yiddish. In Hebrew, New Year is Rosh ha Shannah (Head of the year) and Rosh somehow mutated into "rutsch".

    Question - when you added the paprika it looked like you used two little bowls. Did you use two types of paprika? Sweet and smoked? Smoked and hot?

    • @FlosGermanKitchen
      @FlosGermanKitchen  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Gee, did i not mention that? Bummer... One part is sweet paprika (in German "Edelsüß") and the other one was hot. I use it in a ratio of two parts sweet and one part hot.
