I've lived in cold climates all my life. I've owned a Subaru. That's the sound of oil starvation & damage being done to your engine. Do you use synthetic oil?

By the sound of that cold start, that Subaru is well on its way to an engine rebuild.
That's just the sounds of the cold start if you ask me. I have had that happen, but it goes away after warming up.
