ACC | Wow! This Race Has EVERYTHING!!! LFM GT3 @ Oulton Park

- You do NOT want to miss this race today. It really does have it all… drama, despair, duels and a last lap showdown that I’m still recovering from.
It’s Assetto Corsa Competizione for the latest round of the Coach Dave GT3 Sprint with Low Fuel Motorsport. And for once, I’m with a great chance of getting a good result. I’ve qualified pretty strongly and I’ll be starting from P5 with a time of 1.34.9.
It’s the furthest up the grid I’ve been for a long long time in an ACC LFM race, but can I make it count? Let’s head to Oulton Park and find out…

Wow where to start with this one? I thought you were a bit harsh on yourself on lap one - it’s a big risk going side by side through there on lap one and the space on the outside is always going to close. So a racing incident IMO. Awesome racing in the middle part of the race - side by side through the chicane! Code 💩moment for you at Island Bend and a dramatic finish! If I was Jensen I’d have defended the inside early, but hindsight is a wonderful thing!
Who needs the F1 when I have Chris to keep me entertained in the off season

I'll second that. I'd much rather watch Chris's latest video than go an find the weekend's F1 highlights. Well done Chris from a 50 year old who spends most of his time at the back of the pack but still finds little adventures in the races like you have. Keep them coming!

Sweet comeback bro. Jenson would have done the same thing in your position. If you don't push the limits of the car, you wouldn't be a true racer. Awesome job Chris 👍
Ahh thank you mate. I felt bad, as I’ve been in his position many a time, getting beaten up in the last corner! But at the time, it certainly felt like a risk worth taking. It would have been just about clean, if I’d avoided the contact, as I managed to leave enough space on the outside. But the hit undid it all 🤣
Such bad luck at the start Chris but what a comeback! Who'd have thought the fight for P8 could be so exciting. Keep at it!!!
Yeah, some of the best battles I’ve had haven’t been anywhere near the top positions. Always worth keeping going, even if you think it’s all over (which I certainly did, after that second crash!)
Really enjoyed this video, great commentary and editing. Enjoyed the racing too, even the questionable stuff 😂 bit hard on yourself at times but thats always better than a big ego.

Haha yeah, getting my Pappy elbows out! To be fair, your moves are forceful but clean. I did the forceful bit brilliantly, but forgot about the clean bit 🤦🏻♂️
Gotta love the crazy racing of the lower splits. I was taking a break from LFM/ACC, but this has wetted my appetite to do some. Love Oulton too.

Ahh mate, it’s always madness at Oulton! This was actually one of the cleaner races I’ve done there, but it was crazy how many freebies were on offer! Give it a go!
Wow, what a race there Chris!!! The first couple of laps were bad but after that you started your charge to the front! And charge you did, the last lap pass was a bit unfortunate but it worked out for you and you did apologize to Jensen. I'm sure if he has watched any of your videos he know you didn't do it on purpose!! Your doin great there buddy!!! Thanks for sharing with us!!!
Thanks Walt! At the time, I thought I’d just managed to pull that move off without making contact. But as soon as I saw the replay, I realised otherwise! I thought it was worth the risk though… the race needed one final bit of drama 🤣
I agree with Ben on lap 1. Taking the outside there with the kink is always a big risk, so you're being a bit hard on yourself, taking the majority of the blame. Good racing for most of the race though and battling it back to be deep in the top 10.
Yeah, it’s not a move I’d have tried… because I tried it before, ages ago, and learned the hard way that it doesn’t work! Lap 1, the guy didn’t squeeze me, so I made it through the kink safely… BUT found myself hung out wide at Cascades, no hope of passing, and ended up drifting out onto the grass and spinning anyway. I was looking at this one more as trying to improve my anticipation, so I could have committed to one line and avoid putting myself in that situation. But there’s too much to think about on lap 1 🤣

Thanks man, yeah I always find it a bit easier to be aggressive and attack once I’ve crashed out and dropped to the back. If I’m higher up, I’m usually scared to risk it!

Top entertainment Chris you didn't lose it after the earlier incidents and kept going until the end love watching your racing on ACC and I am always happy to see an ACC video, main reason for that is we are of similar pace and race craft.

Amazing race man. Usualy i find you a bit too passive in battles. That was nice change of pace to see you smell the blood in the water and commit. Sure you did bump him and the apologee was well deserved but it was a good fight. It always annoy me that some people in LFM seem to forget that we are racing not hotlaping. And when you race, accidents happen. Keep it up ;)
Cheers mate. Yeah, because I do so few races, I’m usually too nervous to be aggressive because I don’t want to risk ruining what might be my only race of the week. But when I get sent into the wall twice in two laps and rejoin last, suddenly I’ve got nothing left to lose and I find it easier to attack. I need to get into that mindset of doing it from the start of every race 🤣
My first endurance race on ACC today and finished 9th ,was jumping around for joy until I saw DSQ as results appeared, bit touchy about track limits but loved the racing
Ahh unlucky mate, yeah track limits can be reallt strict on some tracks. Oulton is like it too… T1 really punishes you if you take too much of the outside kerb.

No shortage of excitement in this one, Chris. The chopper cam replay of your final overtake looks like you gave the Merc enough room - sort of, kind of. It's a tough call.
Ha yes, I think it would have just about been a fair move without the contact. There was definitely a car’s width on the outside… BUT by drifting into the middle of the track and giving him that bump, I made it impossible for him to stay in that space. So it was definitely a little too aggressive from me… but at the time, I felt like it was worth the risk 🤣💥

I'm wondering what was j. pyko thinking as he just completely cut the whole chicane, his rejoin from hell against Bruno and his following fight for the gained position for several corners at least. Unsportsmanlike IMHO.
Yeah, I’m not a fan of on-track slowdown penalties in sims generally, but ACC with its 3 track cut warnings essentially gives you a few freebies to cut corners. I see it a lot at the Zolder chicanes too. I do think Pyko rejoined out wide, thinking we’d go past up the inside exiting the chicane. But it was a tiny bit cheeky to then power off when we couldn’t 🤣

Another edge-of-the-seat nail-biter to watch! Don't be harsh on yourself for the lap 1 incident. I don't think that was your fault. He didn't have enough overlap to claim that space. At least in my opinion. The lap 2 incident was a bummer, but not much you can do about cars appearing in front of you out of nowhere! As for the final lap... I'm not sure. I'd leave that to an official steward to make the call. I'd want to say it was just racing. Overall, a very good race, and much better than I've been able to do lately.
Crazy race, wasn’t it! With the final pass, I think if I’d just managed to avoid any contact, it would have been a properly fair pass… there was more than a car’s width to my outside. Trouble is, as soon as I bumped into him, it nudged him further away from the space I left. So with that in mind, I think it’s on me!

Yeah! It’s even more bumpy in rF2 🤣 But it’s certainly a handful. Those bumps on the kerbs in particular can be a race-ender. It’s why I stuck with the BMW… of all the cars I’ve tried, it seems to cope with bumps and kerbs a little bit better.
Hi....As I've been a racer for a while and an avid follower of BTCC, what is needed to play in races like you stream, which contain a fair selection of BTCC tracks ?......really enjoy both your races and commentary...👍🏁
Hi Mark. There are a couple of options. Getting rFactor 2 and buying the BTCC car pack and UK track pack DLCs is one. However, for online racing, you need to do a load of beginner races first before you can race the online BTCC series (I’ve not got my licence yet). Alternatively, if you have Assetto Corsa Competizione or Assetto Corsa, join Low Fuel Motorsport. That’s where I do most of my races. They have a Cupra TCR series running, and also a Clio Cup in AC right now 👍
Always lots of attrition at Oulton. One of my favorites!
Must admit it’s quietly become one of my favourite tracks. I had an absolute classic in the BTCC here on rF2 a while ago too
I was saying to a friend, I couldn’t have done anything about our turn 2/3 incident on the opening lap.
My recovery was fun tho, think I got back to 2nd.

Yeah, absolutely no hard feelings from my side… I didn’t do myself any favours by dithering in the middle of the track… should have just stayed left or stayed right. The guy coming around the outside and almost losing it spooked me a bit, and made me a bit hesitant. Sorry you ended up on the grass with me, but congrats on the comeback and the podium!
Managed to get 3 races done last night. Shame I missed you as this is usually my split. Good move on my online mate, Paul. What was wrong with him? Just 12 incident points? 😂 That was some ballsy moves going on at Hislop. So far, this week has been so much better than last week. People just drive like [insert expletive here] around Imola but seem much more careful around here. Had a couple of "from back to top 10" challenges last night. First was intentional as I hadn't practiced. Second time, I was taken out at lap 1. Should have come second in another race but dropped it at Hislop on last lap to come 4th.
Ahh yes, I must have just missed you. This was an afternoon race… and far higher standards than Imola last week. All the guys around me drove really fairly… to be honest, I was probably the dirtiest one out there, with that move at the end! But to go through Hislops two wide cleanly, twice, shows how clean the race was. I do enjoy a blast around Oulton. Such a difficult place to pass though!

Haha, yeah it took me by surprise too! Clearly getting wrecked in the early stages helped me drive without fear… I’m hardly ever that attacking!
Turn 2 has a serious bump on the curb that really unsettled the car. If this was any other track, you and that Ferrari would have lived to see another day. But that Ferrari driver should have known that going onto that curb was gonna bounce himself into you. I wouldn't have put this just on you for squeezing him.
Ahh thanks Eric. Yeah I felt it was probably just a first lap racing incident. I wouldn’t have gone for that move if it was me behind… there’s nothing to gain from it, as you just get hung out too wide at the next corner. But at the same time, I saw him in my radar and in my mirror… so I really should have known to go tighter over to the left and keep myself safe. No complaints though… it all added to the drama!

Definitely! I managed to teach myself how to create a basic one for iRacing using GIMP, but I’ve not had a look into ACC yet. Would love a proper paint job though
@@chrisrogerssimracing you can use gimp and blender in 3D this one helps a lot with the sponsors in some cars as the new Ferrari. There is a tutorial in TH-cam ( the most new ,because there is a couple, the lastest is the best)

There was room for him on the outside. Why would you drive more on the inside ih he has room?
Yeah, it’s a great point, but I think the main problem was the contact. Although I left enough space out wide, because I drifted into the middle and hit him, he was unable to use the space I left him. Without the contact (staying a few inches tighter), it would have been the perfect pass 😃

you getting taken out first lap was not your fault .. you left a small gap sure but as you approach that tiny apex that sticks out , the one he cuts the grass , welll yes there was a gap but it disapeared before you got to the corner , but he continued to send it .. even while he wass on the grass .. THE ONUS IS ON THE PASSING CAR TO MAKE THE PASS SAFETLY ... not your fault he tried to pass on the grass and not just the grass but he tried to pass on the grass of the apex ... he is 100% at fault .. im surprised as a league racer you dont know this ... but then again its not that surpising
Cheers mate, yeah I know it wasn’t technically my fault. Trying to make a move into the gap was never going to work… as he would have been on the outside for the main corner, so wouldn’t have been able to pass. I guess what I was trying to explain was, what I could have done differently to avoid the scenario from happening in the first place. If I’d stayed fully left or fully right, I would have been safer. But instead, I was hesitant in the middle of the track. So it was more ‘what I could have done differently to protect myself’ rather than saying ‘its my fault’ 😃
well i thought you did a good defense , but yah i just didnt think it was your fault, erk'd me to hear it lol most people would do good in sim to put it into practice , otherwise why defend at all if ppl can just toss it in if theres a mm gap..that to me is what the rule is kinda about , we can turn bumper cars into racing but that takes less skill than it does to dance around someone putting up an active defense . Think Alonso defending against Hamilton , defense is sexy if the attacker respects it. Again good job on the defense and good recovery :) @@chrisrogerssimracing
